Outliers don't make the norm. A few good single mothers or a few bad male rapists don't define the general culture of a society.
We don't have a national rape culture and we also don't generally have kids growing up normal with single unmarried moms.
The majority of kids are today held hostage by single unmarried women making excuses with rare outlier exceptions. The same women that hold the vast majority of men responsible for a few rapists also excuse bad women by refusing to hold the vast majority of shitty single mothers accountable or responsible for directly creating the single household dystopias for their kids. This is a societal problem created by women, supported by women, excused by women, and perpetuated by women. Women who in the vast majority of all cases are the sole deciders of relationships, deciding who to date, who to sleep with, who to divorce, and how many kids they want to bring up in misery and destitution in a single unmarried household.
If this is what the toxic Matriarchy looks like, show me the door.

Quite a few single moms out there doing pretty goddamn good job.
"Not all women" argument is of little comfort for the vast majority of failed children of single moms. Those kids struggle across the board to pair bond and to be productive and integrate into society. Every social metric from poverty to poor education to crime clearly shows the number one precursor to that diminished life is from having the utter misfortune of only having a single mom.
Since women are the ones that choose relationships and are by far the ones that end them. It's not a guy problem in the main.

There is another issue at play also. Sometimes we don't know the best policies, until a bunch are tried out. The states work as an open market for testing policy ideals. With state rights we can see what works best, and other states will slowly adopt it as well, assuming it works as well for their unique part of the country.
This was how gay marriage and legalized pot evolved by the way. Without State Rights, this probably wouldn't have been possible especially as both groups affected are minorities. In a pure Democracy, minorities get absolutely crushed.

Conclusion
The lockdowns implemented in the name of public health entailed trade-offs that were not adequately considered. Lockdowns may prevent some COVID-19 deaths by flattening the curve of cases and preventing stress on hospitals. At the same time, lockdowns cause severe adverse effects for many millions of people, disproportionately for those already disadvantaged among us. The collateral damage included severe losses to current and future wellbeing from unemployment, poverty, food insecurity, interrupted preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic healthcare, interrupted education, loneliness and deterioration of mental health, and intimate partner violence. The economic recession has been framed as the economy vs. saving lives from COVID-19, but this is a false dichotomy. The economic recession, through austerity in government spending on the social determinants of health, can be expected to cause far more loss of life and wellbeing over the long-run than COVID-19 can. We must open up society to save many more lives than we can by attempting to avoid every case (or even most cases) of COVID-19. It is past time to take an effortful pause, calibrate our response to the true risk, make rational cost-benefit analyses of the trade-offs, and end the lockdown groupthink.
