five reasons it's stupid to vote for trump

@HistoryBuff
I'm not talking about controlling cheap products. I'm talking about regulating the production and sale of harmful products. If people want to buy cheap stuff that's fine, as long as it isn't hurting people.

And what about people purchasing harmful products? Don't you think an authoritative government has an obligation to stop them from supporting companies with their reckless purchases?

I am sure you have more than a few Chinese products in your home, allowing those companies to pollute and poison the planet. You are an accessory to their greed with your irresponsible purchases. The government should stop you from continuing to support Chinese businesses and others in the USA that poison the planet.

Make it illegal for you, personally to purchase products from poisoning businesses, either here or abroad. You don't actually mind spending more money on products, right?

I fail to see how that is in any way related to this conversation. We need to set minimums of what they are permitted to use. IE you can't use anything that would poison people. If companies want to use better materials than this, that is their business, not ours. It is completely irrelevant to regulations.

It's far easier to regulate you in the USA from buying cheap shit than it is to regulate a company from producing cheap shit considering the market is global.

Governments can regulate your greed to purchase cheap shit, and then, you can be happy with being forced to purchase inflated prices on stuff you would never ever choose to purchase with your own money, ever.

These are reasons why we need regulations. So that if you use sub standard materials, you get a massive fine. If you dump toxic waste without treating, massive fine. If you lie to your consumers about the health impacts of your products, massive fine. This is one of the reasons governments exist.

There is no private water company on the planet that could have survived the lawsuits from Flint, but the government can kill as many people they want with impunity. Fuck you and your authoritative government solutions.

no, but corporations regularly use sub-standard components in their products to reduce costs and maximize profit.

There are literally millions of businesses that have failed in your lifetime in part because you and others like you refused to purchase a higher-priced better quality product.

Your greed is to blame for their bankruptcies, not theirs.

If the authoritative government you advocate wants to poison you, you wouldn't know about it, or be allowed to talk about it even if you somehow knew.

You can sue a business but you are completely fucked if the government has the power.

HB is convinced corporations attract consumers and employees in a competitive free market mainly by poisoning and killing them.

Insane clown logic.

Don't your parents regularly add mercury to the coffee so they can boost profits and drive more revenue and customers to their convenience store?

Of course, they do in HB's clownworld.

You can congregate in grocery and liquor stores but not churches.

You can congregate in convenience stores and lottery ticket retailers but not public demonstrations.

You can congregate in hospitals and pharmacies but not beaches.

Seems like very clear and logical rules of engagement.

What product do you buy that poisons the planet? (hint it's probably anything produced  in or near China)

And China has one of the most authoritative governments on the planet.

HB either wants to bring back the whip or make everyone jobless.

Nah. The Courts are where its at. National politicians can try to convince the country to steer a certain direction, but courts are the ones that can greenlight policy or stop it dead in its tracks.

Only if it hits constitutional roadblocks, like Michigan's sorry excuse for a Governor.

News isn't going to be talking about this in October.

Fake news spinning and media panic gaslighting have a very limited shelf life at the moment, especially with the failure of the Mueller Report promises. It's the main reason why Ukrainegate was shuffled along in a matter of months instead of an actual legitimate investigation taking years like the Mueller report.

Cloroxgate and Lysolgate are already starting to reek.

MSM did it to themselves.

Also, the more I think about it,  a culling Nuclear holocaust might not be such a bad thing for the future of the human race since the vast majority of immediate casualties will be democratic socialist elites in urban areas. The survivors will likely be among the most self-sufficient. Anyone embracing victimhood culture will likely not survive.

Although it's far more likely that a rogue state like Iran will start eliminating these urban areas of soulless decadence and atrophic apathy, and that won't likely happen until we get another apologist in chief in the Whitehouse.

I’ve stopped arguing and instead encouraged anyone with TDS to take 1/2 hr of the day and watch a press conference in full if they hear something from any leader that sounds insane, even from ones I don’t like (such as prime minister Trudeau). They don’t say anything remotely insane enough to make me believe that they would suggest to inject or drink anything for medical purposes without seeing a doctor.  Also, call me a monster but if you do any of those things without consulting a doctor then I don’t call that a tragedy I call it natural selection. If you make choices like that then you need full-time adult supervision.

 and killed over 200 thousand is clearly a travesty.
The World Health Organization estimates that worldwide, annual influenza epidemics result in about 3-5 million cases of severe illness and about 250,000 to 500,000 deaths.

So 200K COVID deaths are a travesty but 500k flu deaths are acceptable. Got it.

Why the word "ni33er$" is appropriate and the inherent racism of this site
-->
@Singularity
The best experience of my life was spending time with members of an exclusively all-black fraternity at Ole Miss (a historically racist college)... they would let me attend some of their open social events.

I really for the first time understood how everything was in someone else's shoes. I never felt so small and stupid in my whole life trying to relate to those guys. Later in the military, I spent a lot of time with the family of one of my black friends. The culture shock is real.

I think the reason most whites get so offended is because they desperately want to erase the past. The word is more of a slur on their skin color than any other skin shade.

Most Blacks I know don't take any whites seriously for precisely that reason. They refuse to be real. Like one word from a white-skinned mouth is going to actually do anything to a black person in 2020. GTFO. Most blacks think whites are straight-up pussies. It's cute they think they could intimidate anyone with a single word.

In your world no good company exists because they want money. With your logic there won’t be any companies.
this is, more or less, an accurate description of the real world that we currently live in.
In HB's fantasy world. Slaves simply provide what he desires with no transaction because they are evil for having capital and producing something he must use his money to purchase.

I have absolutely no control over corporations.

Stop buying their crap. Make it yourself or buy it from someone who you believe gives a fuck about you.
Why do you insist on giving up your right to choose what to purchase with your own money to establish a benevolent government to make those choices for you?

most of them didn't really make that money either. They squeezed it out of the labor of others.

It's okay because socialism will stop you from greedily selling your labor to capitalists and stop you from greedily purchasing the goods you desire by making it illegal to do so.

It's far easier for the government to control you than people who have capital.

The government will choose for you who you can and cannot sell your labor to.

That is your idea of a "benevolent" government.

In order for Socialism to actually work, the government doesn't need to go after capitalists. They only have to go after you and dictate what you can spend your money on and curb YOUR greed. (like Obamacare mandates) That is how the Socialist government can destroy capitalism. By destroying the consumer. They didn't need to destroy private healthcare. They only needed to make it illegal to purchase the kinds of healthcare plans that you could afford and would choose to pay for.

 You get the innovation and growth of capitalism, while you have a strong government to keep their evil, greed based decisions kept in check.

Except it is not the government choosing to keep these corporations existent. You personally make that choice to support them.

You support their greed with your greed. There's no policeman to tell you your greed is evil for purchasing a calculator instead of using a homemade Abacus made out of stones and sticks.

But i don't want that.

I'm not going to justify your greed for you. Think of all the rare earth minerals and pollution you could have avoided by not greedily purchasing a calculator.

Or driving a car.

Or any of the thousands of hypocritical things you choose to purchase to support your greedy lifestyle.

In order for Socialism to actually work, the government doesn't need to go after capitalists. They only have to go after you and dictate what you can spend your money on and curb YOUR greed. (like Obamacare)

 I have no choice.

Yes, you do. You can tell them to go fuck off.  Assuming you don't support monopolies like the government.

More than half of small businesses file for bankruptcy after 5 years because too many people made the choice to tell them to fuck off.

Capitalism only exists when you, personally don't make that choice.

It's such an important concept that we have a scientific term for the consumer's choice to tell capitalists to fuck off.

That index goes down the more people say FUCK YOU to businesses with their wallets.

Luckily for capitalism, many hypocrites like you say one thing with their mouths and then convey another thing entirely with their money.

If you truly hate Capitalism, you don't have to wait for the government to take you off the grid. You can make that choice today. Right now.

umm, virtually all of them. That is what corporations exist for. They care about the bottom line.

And it appears you care enough about the corporations to reciprocate their concern and support them with your purchases as well, otherwise, you would have told them to fuck off and look for an alternative competitor. Assuming you don't support monopolies like the government.

Getting the US out of debt
-->
@blamonkey
It is inherently in the government's self-interest to not be productive, which is precisely why all your cited instances are outliers.

It's not about human error. It's about the systemic self -interest of an institution.

Take teacher unions for example. (or any labor union) Their number one self-interest is reducing risk by destroying competition. Being productive for the student is a  secondary concern.

Milton Friedman has written volumes about systemic self-interests versus individual self-interests.

Getting the US out of debt

@blamonkey
There is also the problem of the self-interest of the government.

Milton Freidman explains this concept as follows: The best interest of the government is to make as many low-risk decisions as possible. This leads to the inherent unproductiveness of the government where inaction is the preferred course due to any notable level of risk.

In the case of Coronavirus, all government agencies have it in their best interest to prolong the quarantine as long as possible due to any notable level of risk, even if it means shutting down all production. Every risk estimate the government uses will be on the high end as in the case of consistently using the 2 million deaths prediction. It's in the government's best self-interest to be as risk-averse as possible.

In the case of California, it is far more important to allow 100 poor people to publicly defecate on the streets than it is to be caught publicly wrongly detaining a homeless person.

In the case of welfare policing, the same concept applies. The best interest of the government is to make as many low-risk decisions as possible. That means it is far more important to allow 100 people to cheat the welfare system than it is to be caught publicly wrongly denying one poor person welfare. After all, most of the public won't even know the extent of the waste as the government can simply reclassify the fraudulent recipients as just receivers of welfare after the fact.

This is where the self-interest of the individual and the self-interest of the government diverge.
The best interest of the government is to make as many low-risk decisions as possible with productivity a secondary concern.
The best interest of (most) individuals is to make as many productive decisions as possible with risk adversity a secondary concern.

Government incompetence, Freidman argues, isn't just due to simple human error. It is fundamentally inherent in the interests of self-preservation of the government.

Eligibility requirements for food stamps are stringent, and the benefits provided are minute. Countable resources (including bank accounts) cannot exceed $2,250 dollars for someone to qualify for aid, sans any deductions

I get 200 dollars a month from foodstamps, so I can say your 1st point is 100% wrong in my case. I eat less than 6.50 dollars worth of grocery food a day. More like 5 dollars a day.

Since government welfare is run by the government, you don't need to be much smarter than highschool level to take advantage of all the inherent loopholes and exceptions in the thousands of pages of legislation. Some of the loopholes are ridiculous.
