Let me enlighten you on a group of people who don't share your personal fear on just about anything, except maybe death from old age. That group would be called...Congress.

That group has every want and need taken care of and has security you could never hope to have. When any politician says they are personally afraid about something, you know they are lying. They can pretend to be afraid to fake empathy for their constituents, but they all know they would never be in any real personal danger from any of the policy decisions they make.

I agree on safety nets, because some people are born unequal and in a way, handicapped. Private charities don't always take care of the handicapped.

I agree that government should take some basic measures to ensure the safety of the people from environmental concerns, but not to overreach so much as to redundantly overlap or hamper tort law, which has been incredibly efficient at holding corporations accountable to negligent actions.Tort lawyers should be unrestricted, and no cooperation should be shielded from tort law with superseding compliance with government regulations (which are often insufficient and unresponsive to technology and other things).

I disagree with big government regulated socialism and the restriction of free markets. I don't believe you need to hobble the gifted to take care of the handicapped, so I don't believe a progressive tax system is effective (or moral).

I disagree on identity politics, critical race theory, and diversity for diversity's sake, as resisting assimilation into a homogenous national culture only ensures endless tribalism and sectarian violence and instability for the nation. If a nation is too big for assimilation into a homogenous culture, then it should be parceled off into smaller sections for the sake of peace and harmony. The alternative is cultural assimilation at gunpoint as in 1865. The Civil War taught us the importance of a homogenous culture, especially as it relates to slavery. No nation can stand divided.

Republicans:

I don't agree with any of the neocon interventionist policies. I think increasing the military in the absence of any competition is bad for the future of the country. I disagree with corporate charity and subsidies as it destroys the free market and destroys opportunity for people to aspire. Corporate charity is just the flipside of regulations restricting free trade and free competition. Both are equally harmful.

I disagree with limitless terms for Congress, as it's the number one cause for why Congress no longer functions today as a responsive tool of the people, forcing the government into a ridiculous position where the president must exercise far too much power just to get basic tasks done for the country. 

I believe in a fair flat tax, and I believe every voter should pay the same tax rate if their vote counts the same. People who are taxed at a lower rate fail to vote responsible people into office, because they have no skin in the game. It's the major reason why we spend far more than we can ever possibly take in from tax revenue, even if we were to tax the 1% at a 100% tax rate. The National Debt won't get any smaller until people with skin in the game hold politicians accountable. There are too many people with no skin in the game asking for benefits and not enough people who do have skin in the game asking how we as a country can possibly afford it.

This isn't the first time politicians latched on to extreme predictions from radical "science" in a mad grab for power.

Democrats did it in the 70's with wrong science predictions about DDT, which ended up helping to kill around a billion since then due to malaria.

Reagan did it in the 80's with wrongful science predictions of crack babies, launching the war on drugs.

In the 90s, politicians latched on to many in this list for even more grabs of power.

You should never trust any politician with "scientific" predictions, as they are only interested in power grabs.

Only because there is no conclusive science behind the damage calculation predictions due to climate change, whereas science can clearly calculate the damage due to acid rain.

You have some scientists saying the planet will be destroyed in 12 years and others saying the damage will be minimal.
