Trump bragged about subsidizing HBCU's.....
-->
@FLRW
40%? nice.

The national average graduation rate for U.S. colleges and universities is around 63% for students who complete their degrees within six years at four-year institutions. This figure varies significantly based on factors like institution type, student demographics, and state or region.

So the best of the best HBCU is still average.

@ADreamOfLiberty
Yeah,

Langston University, an HBCU in Oklahoma, has a relatively low graduation rate. For first-time, full-time students, the four-year graduation rate is about 5%, while the six-year rate stands at 9% and the eight-year rate is 10%(College Factual).

The six-year graduation rate improves for non-first-time students, reaching around 45%( CollegeVine).

These figures are lower than the national average, reflecting some of the challenges the institution faces in student retention and completion.

In a bold and visionary move to rid our society of violence and distrust, our leaders have embarked on a groundbreaking experiment: the nationwide ban on all guns. After all, if there's one thing history has taught us, it's that simply eradicating the tools of violence will magically dissolve the underlying causes of human conflict. Why not take a cue from the timeless wisdom of Disney, where waving a wand can cure all ills? By stripping away the means to defend oneself, we’re sure to usher in an era of unparalleled peace and mutual affection. Imagine, if you will, a utopia where every neighbor is an ally, and every dispute is settled over a friendly game of charades.

Of course, this radical overhaul of our social fabric is bound to come with its own unique set of benefits. In our newly weapon-free society, citizens will relish the sheer joy of living in constant surveillance—a price we’re willing to pay for a hint of serenity. With the complete eradication of firearms, we anticipate that community trust will flourish as everyone is now equipped with an obligatory, state-issued "Trust Me, I’m Not Dangerous" badge. The unassailable logic of this strategy assumes that fear and violence are purely products of having guns in the house, rather than deep-seated issues of inequality, disenfranchisement, cultural disagreements, or just plain ole basic human nature. It’s almost poetic how the absence of guns will, by pure alchemy, transform our diverse urban societies into havens of harmony.

As we cheer for this unprecedented social experiment, let’s also take a moment to appreciate the profound irony that such a sweeping measure to foster trust and unity comes at the cost of individual freedoms and critical thinking. Surely, this one-size-fits-all solution will not only eradicate violence but also heal the rifts between us all. After all, what better way to create a trusting society than by imposing a uniform, repressive regime? With the melodious hum of government surveillance and the comforting clank of community conformity, it’s clear that our brave new world will be the epitome of peace and collective goodwill enforced by the guns of those who know best.

Having an overly repressive society is surely worth it for eradicating violence. Surely all that repression will suppress the diversity of diminishing shared interests.

Moreover, even if it is a societal problem that doesn't mean we have no obligation to respond. There is a reason prisons take their inmates shoelaces. No one in their right mind would just say "we have an inmate problem" and leave it there. It's common sense that we apply in every area of our life - if a tool or product is being used in a way that is causing harm, we regulate or even ban the use of that tool or product to minimize it's harm. Why logic itself suddenly changes once we're talking about guns is beyond me.

So by this analogy, you would confiscate the shoelaces of the guards and visitors because the criminals might get access? Not an ideal policy.

It's more like the English killed everyone who carried a weapon and kept doing it until carrying a weapon was no longer a survival trait.
Americans take it for granted that everyone wants instinctual life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness endowed by the creator.

The English has taught us that these instincts can be dealt with. It's too bad Ireland wasn't as far away as America.

Guns are definitely a sickly thing in their own right. The only guns I ever see are the army guys guarding the cash-in-transit vans for our banks. And any Irish person will tell you they feel an anxiety when they're around.
Maybe that's why the Irish have been historically subjugated for so long, an unwillingness to fight back, cause it would be "a sickly thing". Who needs freedom when you can have anxiety instead? Nothing a good beer can't cure though.

Do grades determine your intelligence?
-->
@FLRW
The idea that smart people always get good grades is a misconception, as intelligence alone does not guarantee academic success. Albert Einstein is a prime example of this. Despite his later achievements and recognition as one of the greatest minds in history, Einstein struggled in the rigid, traditional school system. He was often bored and unengaged with the material, leading to mediocre grades in some subjects. His brilliance wasn't reflected in his report cards, but rather in his ability to think creatively and explore concepts that went beyond the classroom.

Einstein's experience highlights that traditional education systems often emphasize rote memorization and standardized testing, which may not cater to the strengths of all intelligent students. A highly intelligent individual might not thrive in an environment that doesn't encourage creativity or critical thinking. In Einstein's case, the structured and narrow curriculum failed to stimulate his intellectual curiosity, leading him to disengage from schoolwork. This shows that even the brightest minds struggle in environments that don't align with their learning styles or interests.

Moreover, grades often measure more than just intelligence. They can reflect a student's ability to conform to the demands of the educational system, such as following instructions, meeting deadlines, and performing well on specific types of assessments. Einstein's lower grades didn't indicate a lack of intelligence but rather a mismatch between his learning style and the expectations of the system. His later success underscores that grades are not always an accurate measure of a person's intellectual potential or future achievements.

Disney Wish Movie.
-->
@Best.Korea
Title: Wish
Director: Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn
Release Date: November 2023
If only some wishes were better left ungranted, Wish would be a prime candidate. Disney’s latest attempt to conjure magic falls woefully short, serving as a glaring reminder that not all dreams are worth pursuing.
Plot and Storyline:
The plot of Wish is a tangled mess of half-baked ideas that should have been left on the cutting room floor. The film’s attempt to deliver a heartwarming adventure is undercut by a disjointed narrative that seems to have been conjured up in a hurry. Wishes for coherence and emotional resonance are left ungranted, resulting in a storyline that feels aimless and unsatisfying.
Character Development:
The characters in Wish are a textbook example of how not to create engaging personalities. The protagonist is as bland as a wish for a plain cheeseburger, and the supporting characters are nothing more than recycled stereotypes that add little to the story. It’s clear that any hopes for rich, nuanced character development were never in the cards.
Dialogue and Humor:
One might wish for a screenplay that crackles with wit and genuine humor, but Wish delivers a string of cringe-worthy lines and forced jokes instead. The dialogue falls flat, making the humor feel like a desperate attempt to inject life into a film that lacks it. The result is a series of groan-worthy moments that miss the mark entirely.
Animation and Visuals:
The animation in Wish is competent but uninspired. While the visuals are technically sound, they fail to dazzle or innovate. The film’s design choices are as safe as wishing for a predictable outcome, and as a result, it lacks the vibrant creativity that Disney fans have come to expect.
Music:
In the realm of Disney musicals, one might wish for memorable songs and an evocative score, but Wish delivers a soundtrack that is both forgettable and formulaic. The music lacks the emotional depth and catchy appeal that could have redeemed the film. Instead, it feels like a series of uninspired ballads that barely make a ripple.
Overall Impact:
Ultimately, Wish is a film that should have remained a mere wish, never to be granted. It’s a disheartening addition to Disney’s legacy, offering little in terms of magic or enchantment. While it might briefly entertain the youngest viewers, it fails to provide the lasting charm and joy that Disney is known for. Sometimes, the best wishes are the ones you don’t make, and this film is a clear reminder of why.

even AI hates it.

The federal government already corrupted higher education to the point where about half the graduates end up getting a job where their degree was not a requirement for the job. So the cure for over-subsidizing a bad product is...more of the same?

Neither candidate wants to reduce spending, which means population has no good choice
-->
@Best.Korea
A survey conducted by the New York Times and Stanford University in 2015 explored Americans' willingness to pay to combat climate change. The survey found that while a majority of Americans believed climate change was a serious issue and supported action to address it, there was a significant reluctance to personally pay more than a modest amount to fight it.

One of the key findings was that when respondents were asked how much they would be willing to pay in higher electricity bills to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the most common answer was “$10 or less per month.” This suggested that while there was broad support for addressing climate change, many people were not willing to incur significant personal costs to do so.

Green energy does need to be supported.
Why? Isn't this what the people want? After all, the people could wear 10 dollar shoes and instead often buy shoes 10x the price because they simply want it...

Unless of course the people are just as hypocritical regarding climate alarmism as 100% of political leaders who use a huge proportion of fossil fuels..... in that case, dictatorial force will be needed.

Let's assume this obscure thing happened and is true. Realistically, what do you think the nation cares about more...a Leader that respects the fallen under his command, or a leader that has all the best photography staff?

The best thing Harris could have done politically was to ignore the whole thing, and instead, it's ballooned with the Streisand effect. Most people on the left say this was an unforced error by the Harris war room.
