From a Materialist view will the future have Religion, and should it?
From a Materialist view will the future have Religion, and should it?
I think no. That is because deities are not provable as of now. We can only theoretically deduce whether there is or isn't a God, but we have no physical evidence on whether there is one and how is it.

Everyone should have an abortion

@Best.Korea
No. The extreme would be to let mothers torture their children. No sane person would give birth to a child, or support such a horrible thing.
Ah, a poor sequence of words. I meant to say since most people are sane, using the term "everyone" is extreme.

My father is a man too. My mother is a woman.
OMG Same!!

Where did Morality come from.
-->
@YouFound_Lxam
Imagine you are in paradise (meaning a place where everything is perfect) with another person. You have no reason to kill that person, but you also don't have any reason to not kill that person. Killing them wouldn't affect your survival, or the state of thriving that you are in. Nothing would change, except for that person dying.

Now be honest. Killing in this situation would be a (so to say) sinful thing to do, or a bad thing to do obviously. But why would it be bad? After all, nothing bad would happen except for that person losing paradise.
Right, it wouldn't be.

The problem is that in this world it is a bad thing.

@Best.Korea
I often forget that men exist 😅
No, I get what you mean. You mean to convey a pro-choice position, but this is a debating website, and it is much more within my character to critique in ways that nitpick your topics. So that is what I did, since I have no problem with the general pro-choice position although "everyone" is a bit extreme including mothers who want children and mothers who don't want children abstaining. Obviously, I anticipated said to be said, so I picked a way of introducing myself to the thread in a way no one has as of yet.

And yes, men do exist. My father is one.

WTF is going on in CANADA with Euthanasia being the leading cause of death!?!

@ADreamOfLiberty
We can never know what it's like to suck maple syrup through the hockey face plate day in and day out. Constantly having to feed the polar bear and remembering to say "if you don't mind", "sorry", and of course "eh".

It takes a toll.
Yeah, you are proving my point.

Would you vote for Biden, or any other legitimate Republican candidate as President.
That is a crazy question. The presence of "any other" implies that Biden is a legitimate republican candidate, which he is neither.

This is and should always be allowed.

Many people cause havoc on threads purely because this garners attention. Nobody comments "I commit felonies" because they are actual crinimals, they do it because it is funny and gathers attention. Sometimes, banning a person is a form of acknowledging what they are doing.

What we should do is just treat this as a normal thread with normal discussion. Of course, doxxing should always be banned because it could cause physical harm, but insults deserve to be drowned over nothing and be unnoticed by the end of time.

Just keep this a normal thread, it didn't even have any person directed towards!

@Mps1213
On the contrary, out of about 40 students in my class, I appear to be the sole individual that do not integrate memorizing vocabulary into my learning schedule. This is strange. I never recall picking such a habit in any discrete way. I don't actually try to do that anyways.

Funny enough, back when I was normalized enough to try normal debating, my coach(or what can I call it?) said that my speeches are too plain and too devoid of diversity when it comes to synonyms and replacements. I mean, just look at everyone else, they took professional public speech classes from a former graduate of Harvard and voice their opinion with the sophistication of a philosopher or a supreme court judge, and then I just barge through with a quick silver bullet of the literal take that is the elephant in the room that somehow no one has noticed, used one minute, then stood there for 3 more until I concluded my "speech" with forced politeness because the required max is 4. Maybe that is how I got kicked. I don't quite know.

What made you interested in debate?
-->
@Sir.Lancelot
Did this site make you better at debating IRL?
Quite the opposite. Everyone else thinks that I am a lunatic at debating. Voicing my opinion at the debating club got me banned all the way till graduation. I tried enter tournaments and the judges think I am speaking nonsense even though I established my literal interpretation as early as possible and in the clearest fashion in the limited time.

Still this isn't a bad thing. It just means I am miles ahead of people. At least I treat topics as what they are: strings of words, instead of the meanings they imply. Most people mix debate topics up with the implied meaning of a single interpretation(and stick it there, and not seek out anything else, and calls me out when I uses a valid interpretation according to the topic. If I actually do try, you won't be able to find any flaw in my reasoning(due to my interpretations being the topic itself instead of anything indirectly derived from it) unless you change the topic for once(for example, setting restrictions in the interpretations).

But serously, I have got zero explanations why people quasi-automatically declare me a loss whenever I try. My proof is tautologically sound!

You just sent a non-malevolent message without unblocking me then proceeded to make the post itself not able to be responded according to the functions of the site itself. That is hilarious.

Side note, you translated “intelligence” in the sense of “enemy intelligence”, confidential information gathered.

@Best.Korea
Well yes, but you are missing my point. You claim because we are condemning 1, thus we are encouraging 2. The reality is that we condemn both, with the second one even more so. The first one is only morally, but the second one also legally.

If a man cant have sex consensually, then he can:

1. Stay a virgin

2. Rape

Pretty sure what our society is trying to condemn is not being able to have sex consensually, not explicitly the first on for instance.

An appeal to reinstate Wylted as President.
-->
@Sir.Lancelot
Wylted is no longer a Nazi.

He has been reincarnated as a gold digger for the Soviet Union. All his original sins are wiped clean. Blank slate.
Perhaps, we should give him a free pass.
Oh come on, what are we having, a Larper? How much better is that anyways?

Let's just keep this site a pseudo-anarchy server like 2b2t with mods but no president, and the mods only intervening when bots clog or when someone is so out-of-control that restraining is needed(for example, Wylted 2~3 years ago). Having a president has done nearly nothing outside ceremonial purposes in the last 1.5 years and it is unlikely that it is going to go uphill. I suggest we just remove the need of a president at all and treat this ground like it is just a ground, not a country. I think Wylted being president is not even going to be counterproductive, I think he is just going to be unproductive, no more, no less.

Dude, I am talking MIT, not OSU, do you seriously think I would care about that if I am in MIT?

IMO, a better response would be,
Granted, but the courses in MIT are so grueling and arduous that you can’t comprehend anything the professors lecture about. Eventually you flunk your classes, drop out, and re-enroll in an ordinary university re-starting as a freshman one year later than the average freshman.

I wish i had the superpower of luck.
I believe Pixar or something actually made an animated movie based on a girl who can manipulate luck. It was bad.

So, my corruption statement is: Granted, but the only available power you are able to utilize is to use say-a month worth of luck on an instant. So if you get $2M on a lottery on purpose/on command, say-you are going to be unlucky for the next month, who knows, maybe you are going to get your peaking earnings stolen by a cyber thief or something.

I wish that African people who cannot get water get enough water to thrive for the rest of their lives, preferably with a stable source of water like a spring, a lake, wells, etc.

First of all,  as I have said COUNTLESS TIMES before, my job is to make bible-stupid christians the fools that they are!
For you to assume I am a troll is PRICELESS COMEDY at its best! So at your embarrassing expense again, why don't you show the membership how stupid you are.
Ready, BEGIN:

NEXT MEMBER LIKE BEST.KOREA WHO CHOOSES TO ADDRESS ME AS "TROLL" WILL BE ...?
The least realistic part of this impression is probably that he would not address Best.Korea by Best.Korea, the address will instead include an angry demeaning title such as "False bible heretic fool" or something.

Extremely Wacky HS Writing Prompt
I came across this thread after 2.5 years about, and I can't but laugh at the core composition of the so-called student.

 then this equation must be followed (For respect to your IQ, I will not be using any symbols or letters):

Wood's gravitational pressure - Wood's gravity + Bird's gravitational pressure
Yes, apparently in the original post, it says "equation" too, even though this expression literally has no equation sign. We do not know what this equals.

Same for this one.
Then we can get this:

Water's density * Wood's volume * Gravitational constant - Wood's density * Wood's volume * Gravitational constant + Bird's mass * Gravitational constant
What do you get? How do I even know? I don't.

I imagine the student, if really one, must have received a beating from both the writing teacher AND the physics teacher.

Should all porn be banned?
-->
@hey-yo
Basically, make porn resources like that on the dark web, except on the regular internet.

You would need a specific key to access downloadable materials, except the key is not open to the public. Why would anyone want or not want the key is unknown, but such restrictions would probably work.

I would suggest making them less likely to appear on the web browser based on the algorithm, instead of relying on external safety measures.

Should all porn be banned?
-->
@Best.Korea
As long as porn is easily available, some children will find it and be harmed by it.
But should they be banned for adults? Maybe not. Are you really advocating to outright ban all porn just because children "might" access it?

Oh that is easy, just make it less accessible, like if you require a secret key to access it(and only download it locally). If a child can somehow access it, maybe watching inappropriate videos is not the largest of the concerns. It is just porn site companies don't care about children accessing it as long as those sweet clicks run money to the voluptuous women they invest in as well as them themselves coming from everyone without discrimination. If they really care about internet safety more than their right pocket, they could just down the whole platform.

The problem is, well clearly, that porn companies care about revenue more than internet safety, not that porn exists. As long as sexual urges are still a thing within human society, porn will persist. Prostitutes are one of the oldest professions in human society, and there is a reason for that.

Pascal's Wager - Is fun worth the risk?
-->
@Best.Korea
If atheism is right, both Christians and atheists end the same.

If Christianity is right, then most of the atheists go to hell to burn.

Pascal's wager is a probability based argument that says that we should believe in God to increase our chances of happy afterlife.
Suppose I hold a belief that if you die, you will be happier than any Christian will be in the afterlife and the God just puts everyone in Heaven without discrimination. According to this argument, everyone should believe me.

The fact the dominant religion is not like this is in itself a reason why this argument is not only theoretically unsupported but incorrect to the population.

Prove you don't live in an echo chamber.
As for “echo chamber”, how do we prove that the entirety of human knowledge, the extent, is not in itself an echo chamber? Like, we all think we actually know something. We all think that there is meaning to something. Who asked any of us? Maybe not.

And if the echo chamber is of this extent,  I would not consider being in it mentally an inherently reprehensible notion. As if we can escape it, lol.

@Slainte
Show how you have changed your mind on something, anything, that you never thought you would.
That is like on every issue for everybody. All shifts in opinions are unconscious until you realize it AFTER your mind has been changed. Nobody consciously changes their mind, it is a subconscious process, it changes without you knowing it.

Like, you don’t often think to yourself, “I am going to change my view about Trump, I will change my mind, I will do it.” You think to yourself afterwards, “Wait, my view about Trump has changed! I thought he was a (x), but it turns out he is a (y)!” That is the format you are prone to thinking in, AFTER your mind has changed, not before.

So, this concerns nothing, I guess.

Does it matter?

I mean, a movie is complete when it is released even if we haven't watched it. Then, why are we more displeased when we are spoiled of the ending rather than not? Why the difference?

Life is the same, you can't see the ending. Except, you would possibly be thrilled if you are told you are going to be spoiled of your own life, well. That's that.
