"The spiral case (also known as the coil campaign, coil case or IUD case; Danish: spiralsagen or spiralkampagnen) is an ongoing investigation into a birth control campaign by the Danish government in Greenland which occurred primarily during the 1960s and 1970s. Danish doctors placed intrauterine devices in thousands of Greenlandic Inuit girls and women, often without consent and under the direction of government officials. The program was created to control Greenland's birth rate."

I am not aware of the Panama Canal being defined as Concession infrastructure in the treaty when Panama agreed to sell the land to America, when America built the Panama Canal.

Nor am I aware of any agreed upon time period in the initial treaty, that said America would give/trade over to Panama the Canal.

Even the later treaty under Carter had 'conditions, that allowed America the ability to intervene.
"Under this treaty, the U.S. retained the permanent right to defend the canal from any threat that might interfere with its continued neutral service to ships of all nations. "

Is something 'truly a nations own property,
When one sets laws allowing foreign nations to intervene should they disagree with your use of it?

If it were 'truly Panama's canal, they could refuse American ships access, though they might face economic sanctions,
'But by the treaty agreed, America could invade, 'if the treaty is ever broken. I assume.

I meant this,

"I think Trump needs another murder attempt to leave his childish behaviour once and for all because he has nothing to do with Panama Canal which was given back to the real owner, the Panamanians." IlDiavolo #34

Which I assumed was you saying that when the USA gave the nation of Panama eventual control of the Panama Canal.
That the Panamanians were the rightful owners.
. . . I also don't really see how we could have given it 'back, since the Canal did not 'exist until 'America built it.

Well, there's always the bit absurd, give every Greenlander a million dollars to join America, idea.

'I'd be pretty tempted to join another country, with an offer like that.
Not sure I 'would, and if I'm not sure, I assume people in Greenland might be even more Nationalistic than myself. Maybe have more cultural identity, roots.

How do you figure the Canal was the rightful property of the Panamanians?

I'm not saying it isn't/wasn't, just curious of your views.

I'm not sure we 'would need the draft to invade any of those countries. We 'might, but a fair amount of the military concern I figure, is the countries they are connected to, which may or may not fight with them.

That said, I'd think it'd be a 'huge blunder to attack any of the aforementioned countries.
Could always lose,
'Seems morally bad to me,
Would harm foreign relations I'd think,
Could be destabilizing to other parts of the world.

That said, I'm still doubtful Trump could convince Congress to declare war.
Though admittedly individuals have sneaky ways of getting our country into various wars in past history.

Heh, yeah I've been seeing this in the news recently.
Personally I lean towards the people who think he's just kicking up a fuss with outrageous ideas, so he can make smaller deals and claim success.

Course, it's also hard for me to 'tell.
If he thought he could get away with it, maybe he 'would try annexing Canada or Greenland or seizing control of the Panama Canal.
Be feathers in his cap, be 'big historical moments.
He doesn't necessarily need to 'attack them to annex them.

I wish I could find more information,
But I see some people claiming the treaty the USA made with Panama gave USA ability to take back canal if canal operation is disrupted.
I don't mean to spread disinformation, I just can't find info on the treaty or whatever difficulties Panama is having maintaining the canal.
Maybe someone else has the info.

Can the expression of controversial political ideas threaten another's safety?
-->
@Maher
Yes and No.

Certain ideas spoken to certain people,
Can end up as violent dangerous situations.

But the 'expressing itself is not dangerous.

Additionally, I consider a society that 'represses the ability to speak freely, to be more dangerous than many expressions of dangerous ideas.
I think that if one lets others repress dangerous ideas, it can lead to said person repressing ideas you 'didn't consider dangerous.

If it was 'really a bad dangerous idea,
Ideally it will be apparent enough the people, and enough will not follow it.

Let's say American slavery then, no killing.

Lot of work though, I imagine.
Even just using more famous historical political debates.

But internet, even with debate sites not the most popular item, has a glut.

Interesting as well, something I often thought reading old Debate.org debates, was how one could see the shifting popular held opinions on various subjects over time.
Gay marriage or gays in the military as example, when one combed the Debate.org debates, one could see a shift in tone over time, as well as what years they spiked as topics.

are women who dress provocatively 'asking for it'?
-->
@Best.Korea
Not wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle,

People might say that you're practically asking for brain damage.

But of course they do not mean that literally, just a turn of phrase, on the risk one is running.
. . .

Society is also odd,
Nature does not choose,
But humans do,
People sometimes have high expectations of other humans,
Though expecting other humans not to rape you, I prefer as a low expectation, but depends on the people one meets, the society one lives in.

Lot of people are going to leer, openly or allusively,
Some people, men 'and women, 'want the attention, expect it,
Others don't, and have the expectation that others should not/will not leer at them.

What results depends on the society one lives in,
I'd 'imagine a topless woman on a beach get's leered at less in one of those topless countries,
Than a topless woman in a country that normalizes tops for women.
. . .

I don't think women who dress proactively are asking to be raped,
Some of them might want attention,
Some of them might want indirect but not direct attention,
Some might just want to be attractive to themselves, without thought of others.

Society 'is a factor though, like storm clouds, chance of rain.

For rapists, I'd imagine the opportunity of a person 'vulnerable, alone for instance,
Plays a greater factor than their clothes.

. . . Still, people are going to often treat you different based on how you present yourself,
Dress proactively in school, might get attention from people who end up a bit rapey on a date.
Who think you 'are an easy person, or 'are looking for sex then can't take no as an answer.

Well, there is the argument for accepting incredibly accomplished refugees.

"Among the scientists who fled Europe were Albert Einstein, Hans Bethe, John von Neumann, Leo Szilard, James Franck, Edward Teller, Rudolf Peierls, and Klaus Fuchs. Enrico Fermi‘s wife Laura was Jewish; after the 1938 Nobel Prize ceremony, he and his family left for the United States."

I suppose if one is for migration, then refugees are a bit similar.
Though personally I think there is only 'so much space/power in America, and don't really understand encouraging the bringing of others to replace one's own people.
Which I think is one of the points of 'controlled migration, assimilation,

True,
But I think repetition can add to retention,
By spending 'time on a book, one thinks back to earlier ideas in earlier chapters as they read.

Additionally the ideas in a book are sometimes posed in different ways and explanations.

Lastly the difference between experiencing directly vs learning 'of.
It doesn't seem likely that certain events 'hit a person the same if they read the cliff notes version, vs reading the event in the book.

"So he is," said the green man, "and he rules the Emerald City wisely and well. But to those who are not honest, or who approach him from curiosity, he is most terrible, and few have ever dared ask to see his face. I am the Guardian of the Gates, and since you demand to see the Great Oz I must take you to his Palace. But first you must put on the spectacles."

"Why?" asked Dorothy.

"Because if you did not wear spectacles the brightness and glory of the Emerald City would blind you. Even those who live in the City must wear spectacles night and day. They are all locked on, for Oz so ordered it when the City was first built, and I have the only key that will unlock them."

He opened the big box, and Dorothy saw that it was filled with spectacles of every size and shape. All of them had green glasses in them. The Guardian of the Gates found a pair that would just fit Dorothy and put them over her eyes. There were two golden bands fastened to them that passed around the back of her head, where they were locked together by a little key that was at the end of a chain the Guardian of the Gates wore around his neck. When they were on, Dorothy could not take them off had she wished, but of course she did not wish to be blinded by the glare of the Emerald City, so she said nothing.

Personally, I think a lack of education, literacy, and technology would be expected in Dictatorships.
Though many Dictators 'have and try to improve their people and society with technology.
I don't see why they would. . . Well intentioned Dictators I suppose, who justify their means by the ends they idealize. Or they are 'semi Dictators 'allowed to the forefront so long as they follow the people's will.

Written words and technology enable the learning and exchange of ideas.
Ideas have a way of possessing and driving people to fanatiscism.
Easier to control when they are apathetic and thinking small.
If one has control of the state radio and TV, one has the means to indoctrinate, why allow the people more?
More is for the Dictator, their supporters, and elites of their society.

Not that I'm advocating for Dictatorship,
But I assume Dictatorships have a greater chance to occur in the less developed world.
Not only by the states own conditions,
But for the conditions in outside states, I think states find value in outside enemies,
Weak third world dictatorships would be ideal for such a role, thus there would often be a lack of motivation for the first world states to 'change the third world states.

If holding power and leading the state one's own way is a dictators goal,
I see little reason for them to remove suffering or encourage individualism.
People find and create 'meaning and reason in suffering and want, that they might not in pleasure and abundance.
Rather when people start to find their lot improve, they want more, quicker, and in my view incite revolution, ironically often resulting in the opposite.
. . .

Tech can be pretty cool for video games though,
More people playing in same game.

Course for the first world, apathy is possibly reached by an overabundance of luxury,
A feeding of every kind of ism, that society is fractured and divided, difficult to unite.

Though, I think a 'lot of people are excessively paranoid and overattributing of power, knowledge, and malevolence held by politicians and the rich.

The Fatima Sun miracle.
-->
@FLRW
@Shila
@WyIted
Being an Atheist does not prevent people from seeing something 'appear to happen, or from believing something 'did happen,
Nor does being a Theist prevent people from thinking there are other causes for the sun miracle than the sun 'itself
"dancing around the sky, hurting towards earth then backing off"

Additionally I argue why would God be bound by 'your technological abilities?
A caveman may argue that it is physically impossible for a hunk of metal to fly, but is that not simply the caveman's lack of power and knowledge?

.

"A Scientist Witnesses the Miracle of the Sun
Dr. Almeida Garrett, Professor of Natural Sciences at Coimbra University, described it as follows:
The sun's disc did not remain immobile. This was not the sparkling of a heavenly body, for it spun round on itself in a mad whirl, when suddenly a clamor was heard from all the people. The sun, whirling, seemed to loosen itself from the firmament and advance threateningly upon the earth as if to crush us with its huge fiery weight. The sensation during those moments was terrible."

"The stunning event was a direct and very convincing contradiction to the atheistic regimes at the time, which is evidenced by the fact that the first newspaper to report on the miracle on a full front page was an anti-Catholic, Masonic newspaper in Lisbon called O Seculo."

"On October 15, 1917, Avelino de Almeida, 44, an agnostic and freemasonic1 journalist for “O Século”, writes his account of what he witnessed 2 days earlier in Fatima, Portugal: The miracle of the Sun.

His account of the miracle is written as a response letter to a non-believer friend that he hadn’t communicated with in twenty years, but his friend is now curious to hear Almeida’s account which, in Almeida’s own words, is "unbiased"2.

Almeida confirms he was a witness to the event, but even though with the sun danced to him and to thousands of others people, it seems that his personal disbelief has not been shaken.

Personally I'm still an Atheist, I just think your post puts blinders on Atheists and gives them a false sense of ability by the mere label of not believing in God, and is dismissive of the complexities of humans.

Are you saying that the sun shone normally that day in Fatima?
I'm not asking whether you think there was a miracle, but whether you think from that location the sun 'appeared and acted significantly different.

I hear some people do define miracles as even everyday events or unusual occurrences in the natural world, should those events bring them meaning, experience, closeness with God.

Or feel blessed, to be in improbable fortunate situations, such as the sun shining like that in Ireland.

Additionally I see that The Miracle of Fatima was before video cameras,

"the Miracle of Fátima, is a series of events reported to have occurred miraculously on 13 October 1917, attended by a large crowd who had gathered in Fátima, Portugal"

I'm not sure 'what location, time, event, people, the video you posted is from,
The video description says "Ireland among the Travelling community",
But for all I know it could have been a video made by Anti-Theists to discredit religion.
Probably not, but I don't know the videos origin or specifics, how many 'people for example.
A handful of people is not the same as 70,000.

Additionally, even if one crowd experiences a mass delusion,
It does not mean all crowd experiences are mass delusions.
. . .

You 'did say video after video though,
So, it's likely you've searched, read, and viewed more on the topic than me.
. . .

Also after watching the video in post #1 again,
I'm not sure the woman is talking about 'seeing anyone in the sun,
'Sounds like she might just be thanking God and talking about seeing God in his creation.

The woman says "I can see the (sun?son)? of God"
The possibly biased person who is oversetting their type in the video types 'son, but why not 'sun of God?
. . . I admit though, that I do not know about origin/specifics/people of video.

Any RTS fans?

@Lunatic
I enjoy Age of Empires 2 now and then.
I'm pretty bad at it, but I still find it fun to play against other people.
I don't enjoy it against the AI so much though.

I though Halo Wars 1 was kind of fun, the campaign and skirmish against the AI some.

Favorite RTS I've played is probably,
The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II,
'Really liked the War of the Ring in it, which was kind of like a Risk Map, where each fight was a skirmish,
Making heroes was fun, and I found it fun to delete them if they died even once.
Campaign was fun.
Not 'easy to get the game to work nowadays though.

Command and Conquer Generals was pretty awesome,
Bit over the top in a fun amusing way at times,
Awesome campaign.

Warcraft III (Not Reforged)
Has a good campaign, though I would have liked some 'choice in the ends.

Warcraft 2, I still like, but 'do think it feels dated.

StarCraft 1, has a great Sci Fi campaign and story,
I've never tried StarCraft 2, don't plan to.

Warlords Battlecry 1,2,3
I enjoyed all, though they are a bit dated,
Campaign was challenging for me in 1,
2 had a cool Risk style conquer the world map,
3 was alright, 'hint of rpg to it.
. . .

For me, playing against the AI in some games can be lacking, Age of Empires 2 as an example.
Part of this is due to the limited actions of the AI, the lack of 'imagination so to speak.
But I think there is also a lack of 'competitiveness.
It's 'fun to fight another 'person.
Though story/campaigns against the AI can be fun, due to the variety of the scenario, as well as 'advancement.

Perhaps it would be good if some skirmish games against AI had ELO you had to maintain,
If it had unique AI of different skills and personalities,
Such as an AI that if it was your ally in a game, and you stole their resources or called them a noob, the AI then tries to wall you in or attacks your structures with mangonels.

A real cheap fighting game I played once, Final Slam 2, had a fight system where you competed against randomly created AI fighters, could become champion, and keep getting challenged by fighters. Could be difficult if you grabbed every championship and were challenged every day, unable to rest and recover health.

Had personalities you could set for the AI, that caused them to build certain units more, expand more, burn cities when they took them over more or the cities were threatened by your armies.
