Generally, I've preferred working at night.

The Rose Tree
BY WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS

'O words are lightly spoken, '
Said Pearse to Connolly,
'Maybe a breath of politic words
Has withered our Rose Tree;
Or maybe but a wind that blows
Across the bitter sea. '

'It needs to be but watered, '
James Connolly replied,
'To make the green come out again
And spread on every side,
And shake the blossom from the bud
To be the garden's pride. '

'But where can we draw water, '
Said Pearse to Connolly,
'When all the wells are parched away?
O plain as plain can be
There's nothing but our own red blood
Can make a right Rose Tree. '

Good poems/rap verses/book excerpts (do not troll)
"Whosoever hath his mind fraught with many thoughts, his wits and understanding do clarify and break up, in the communicating and discoursing with another; he tosseth his thoughts more easily; he marshalleth them more orderly, he seeth how they look when they are turned into words: finally, he waxeth wiser than himself; and that more by an hour's discourse, than by a day's meditation."

Are you intellectually honest?
-->
@sadolite
I think I'm usually pretty honest.

I don't need to 'know the ends,
It's enough to have a probability, or an attachment to the ends or means. Deontological.

Though, maybe I also 'switch my reasoning and values a lot. . .
Use one standard here, another there.
Well, , , As long as I am honest in the 'moment, I suppose.
. . .

I don't think there's 'only "bullying, lying, deception and corruption."
But I'd figure it 'is a big part of life and situations where power struggles exist, such as politics and nations.
Even some 'work environments, though I'd consider such 'toxic.
I've had good work environments that didn't include bullying, lying, deception and corruption.

I think imperfect knowledge and sources, is better than 'no knowledge or sources.

Should schools teach children to do good things?
I think American schools don't 'tend to currently be 'explicit about morality and ethics.

Kids are encouraged not to fight, bully, cheat on tests, clean up their desk area and sometimes classroom, to avoid careless sex and STDs or to at least use protection, to avoid drugs.

When taught history, such as Civil Rights, they see what our 'current nation values, how why certain changes came about.
. . .

But I don't think our schools are too 'explicit.
. . . America 'is a nation of many different cultures, many different values.
Though locale values, sometimes push the visibility of concepts, the 10 commandments in some places for example. (I've 'heard, but never Googled)

Were we a less individualistic nation,
Or more of 'one religion,
We might teach ethics and morality more, but I'm not sure 'what other nations teach.

How to defend and spread the truth in this age of misinformation and gullibility
Thinking on this subject again,
On an 'individual level,
One could create and 'keep a document of their knowledge.

Create your 'own Wikipedia of sorts, not one shared by others, but 'yours.

Include a table of contents,
Separate different subjects,
Include numerous sources and arguments.

Refer to it when talking with people, then you can easily source your claims,
Can easily 'make your arguments,
Arguments trimmed for shortness and comprehensibility.
. . .

I 'don't do such myself, but,

The debate sites I have been party to,
'Are Documents of My Own Knowledge, for 'me.
I think back to them from time to time, refer to them from time to time.

I don't think my knowledge is 'perfect or 'right in all places,
Far from it. But I think it is improved by my 'returning to previous thoughts.

"I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times."

Would it be better if schools focused on 'one subject a day?
Or perhaps 'fewer subjects a day?

P.E. for example, seems an every day subject.
Cooking and money management, an every day subject.
Though now I'm seeing them all branch out a bit (Math), just 'living is a repetition and use of knowledge.

But in school, one has some ten subjects a day, 10 different subjects to learn, memorize, homework, study for tests.
. . .

I suppose one could try 'combining some subjects.
Math can be written out in words and stories, contain history within.

Schools shouldn't fund the sports over the arts
I lean towards funding neither.
. . .
But on another hand, individuals and families sometimes have dreams of careers in certain fields.
Such as Sports, or Arts.
And I 'think people are 'most adaptable and moldable when they are young.

It doesn't seem right that people should be 'prevented from some careers, because of being poor.

I still feel more evenhanded about it,
Such classes should be 'equally funded according to demand,
On a year to year basis, not funded 'before people show interest, and people 'forced into said classes to fill them out.

Additionally, with AI and cameras, it should be 'more possible than ever for multiple 'smaller classes to exist and be monitored.
As another thread argued, teachers at times are audiobooks.

People with an 'interest, are self motivated.
Failure to pass tests, or observation of failed self study, can result in being removed from said class.
. . .

I'm not sure sports uniforms and equipment needs to be 'new.
Why even bother 'with some parts of sports uniforms, just wear an X color shirt to the game.
Why top grade art equipment? Lot of paper can be reused or stored for future use if only one side is used.
Why need store bought clay, get clay from the river, school trip.

John Green discusses his Christianity
-->
@Castin
I skimmed a book recently, and remembered a part of it,
“In this life, we do not know what God is, even by the grace of faith. And so it is that by grace we are made one with God, as to something unknown to us.”
- Thomas Aquinas, A Portrait by Denys Turner

I couldn't say 'how many Christians are Agnostic in a sense, but I don't think it's a 'small number.
Sure, many people may not question, or may even lack any doubt even 'while they question.

But I think there's people who think deeply on and question their faith, even if they hold on to it in the end.
Thinking it more likely, or by absurdism leaping into it as I 'think Kierkegaard or Dostoevsky did.

Lot of people's faith can be kind of secondary, even if they lay 'claim to the religion, lack of practice builds room for doubts, I'd imagine.
But people hold to what they hold to.

I did the most horrible thing a person could do
-->
@LucyStarfire
If one was religious, it could be more one hurting 'themself, than 'God hurting them for not praying.

I think Prayer can be a practice in mindfulness, of what 'ought matter to a person.
A considering of one's actions, and whether they match with the ideal good.

Not a genie bottle to be rubbed, or a fearful master to slavishly thank for what 'happens to come one's way.
(Though I imagine some people might disagree with me, and think God 'ought be thanked and praised)
. . . But I think I'd view the connection and awareness more important,
Some people pray frequently throughout a day, by keeping their mind on God, though such sounds exhausting to me, I can understand the motivation.
They wish for God to be part of all their life's actions, to be guided and attempt to find the 'right paths in life.

It can be easy maybe, to go down wrong paths,
To make selfish decisions, and forget about good.
Prayer for some people, is a reminder of ideals.
Of what one does and ought value. Maybe.

“Human nature inclines us to have recourse to petition for the purpose of obtaining from another, especially from a person of higher rank, what we hope to receive from him. So prayer is recommended to men, that by it they may obtain from God what they hope to secure from Him. But the reason why prayer is necessary for obtaining something from a man is not the same as the reason for its necessity when there is question of obtaining a favor from God. Prayer is addressed to man, first, to lay bare the desire and the need of the petitioner, and secondly, to incline the mind of him to whom the prayer is addressed to grant the petition. These purposes have no place in the prayer that is sent up to God. When we pray we do not intend to manifest our needs or desires to God, for He knows all things. The Psalmist says to God: "Lord, all my desire is before Thee" and in the Gospel we are told: "Your Father knoweth that you have need of all these things." Again, the will of God is not influenced by human words to will what He had previously not willed. For, as we read in Numbers 23:19, "God is not a man, that He should lie, nor as the son of man, that He should be changed"; nor is God moved to repentance, as we are assured in 1 Kings 15:29. Prayer, then, for obtaining something from God, is necessary for man on account of the very one who prays, that he may reflect on his shortcomings and may turn his mind to desiring fervently and piously what he hopes to gain by his petition. In this way he is rendered fit to receive the favor.”
- Thomas Aquinas

Trump vs Clinton (I voted Clinton)
Well, looking back, vague memories of the 'first time he got elected.
Republicans were just too divided maybe, Americans maybe not all that happy with the candidates.

Democrats 'forced Bernie aside, I 'think, in favor of Clinton, annoyed some Democrats.

Sure surprised 'me when he won.

. . . One of my coworkers voted Trump, just hated the state of politics at the time, felt it was 'not working.
Wanted to shake the system up.

Trump vs Biden (I voted Third Party)
Going by an old debate of mine,
There ended up being two options.
Trump. . . Or Biden. . . '

People 'opposed to a liberal bent, were shifted in the direction Trumps camp.
Even for people who don't care much for Trumps manners, Or all of his policies.
When the other option is one some people perceive as,
The riot encouraging, Police degrading, Gun stealing, LGBT agenda, Illegal immigrant encouraging, Abortion happening, Military weakening, Supreme Court changing, Democrats. (Not that 'I'm saying the Democrats were or were not such)
Trump came off as a good candidate.

Not to mention his more positive attributes and political moves, Such as his focus on the economy, His travel ban response to Covid19 and China, His encouragement of people having sovereignty over their own health care without having to pay a penalty fee just for not having Obamacare, If Trump is elected a Conservative Supreme Court appointment is more likely, And so on.

Trump had the positive attribute of having won the Presidency before, 'Biden meanwhile making his 'third 'attempt at the position.
Then there's age, Biden a bit older than Trump, But 'both candidates having an age issue during a pandemic that's often harsh on the elderly. With Trump, At least his Vice President is a Republican. And at least Trump's immune system seems strong enough to withstand the effects of Covid19.

Some people said the Trump Tax Reform Plan, was the largest overhaul of the tax code in three decades.

Lot of people took the America first view,
A view Trump often talked about.

Incumbents have a good chance of winning, I think.
And 'opposing Trump, could mean splitting the party, resulting in Democrat win.

For people who leaned Conservative, I think Trump 'was a good candidate for the 2020 Election.

Trump vs Biden Harris (I voted Third Party)
Maybe the Harris switch was just too late.
People weren't happy about Covid, which had just been 'starting at the end of Trumps term, and lasted long into Bidens.

Maybe a lot of people unhappy about a lot of Left Culture and politics pushing hard/visible.

Trump still pretty popular with his base.
And 'opposing Trump, could mean splitting the party, resulting in Democrat win.

Reminder: This thread is for voting only. No further discussions. - David #27

"What do you consider "bullying"? Because there is a certain member here who loves to throw rocks, and then call you a bully for retaliating in anyway. It's his favorite word and he uses it as if there's a genie who is granting him a quarter every time he uses it and he is trying to make his living this way. I am sure you know who I am talking about. But anyways, what exactly is bullying? Since you are applying to be a moderator, I think this  is important to know. "

BrotherDThomas (Not Active anymore)
I would have supported banning due to their spamming of insults, and not being 'obvious enough a parody.
Though I'm not 'sure I would have called that 'bullying.

No 'immediate examples of bullying on this site occur to me,
Not to there have not 'been any, I just don't usually dwell on them.
'Mostly, people can handle themselves fine, and aren't asking for the other person to be banned.

I don't think I'd ban people for callout threads, but might support deleting such a thread, and ask that they not 'make callout threads,
'Possibly support further action if they 'keep making callout threads.

I am not sure where to put this, so I put it here.

I would end up conforming, or end of quietly resigning,
Depending on how greatly policy differed from my own views.
I would not attempt to mod contrary to directions of the owners or main mods.

I dislike to be on a website that bans Hitler pics or discussions of Holocaust denial,
Though I don't care for Holocaust denial myself, I don't want people afraid of having a dialogue.
. . . Besides, people who engage in Holocaust Denial, would likely trip up in some other way, and be banned legally, though much of the motivation might be disliking their view or manners.

I think you make 'excellent arguments that the laws of other nations should be considered by DART laws.
But I will have to think on it.
Something I 'value in DART, is the interaction with people 'contrary to my own views.
Attempts to conform to 'all countries laws, I suspect might be 'impossible, or end up with an 'excessively bland site, with little of 'anything possible to say.

Part 2: If yes
B. Sir.Lancelot
D. Savant

Proposition 2: Should the website be rebranded to a different domain name
B. No
The name is fine as is.

Proposition 3: Updating the COC
Should the COC prohibit the use of racial slurs?
A. Yes.

Though, I don't think it's a yes or no answer.
'What is offensive in a 'large 'gray line that 'fades towards it's edges.

Hitler, Osama, Jefferson,  should not be banned as profile pictures.
The American Flag, The Nazi Flag, The Confederate Flag, should not be banned as profile pictures.
Even famous serial killers, should not be banned as profile pictures.

'How one talks about a subject, even their support of it, changes the context.
A spoon or a knife, doesn't matter as 'much as how a person 'uses said spoon or knife.
A spoon can dig out eyeballs easily enough,
And a knife used on wood not flesh, doesn't 'do any harm to a person.

Nudity, some curse words, slurs, offensive hate speech stereotypes, excessive gore, should be banned profile pictures.

Bullying and slur and obscenity filled harangues of individuals and groups should be moderated in the forums. Warnings and then bans.

Old one just needs be viewed as guidelines, and applied with tact and restraint.

Proposition 4: New features
I am comfortable with the site features as they are currently. Simple and effective.
Though I can understand and maybe get used to some features that others may want.
