Well, that would be the 'point,

When is an item considered a drug, if I 'took a drug, I assume there would no longer be an 'item, called a drug, it being consumed?
But then, what if I cut myself, and the drug was in my blood, would it then again become an 'item, a drug?
But would it not be instead blood?

Well, it 'has been a few generations since Manifest Destiny,
Still I think I get your point, that you meant adaption more in the short term, of decisions people make to a situation.

True,
But knowledge of this fact ought encourage people to be 'more leery, not less.
To take steps and measures to 'avoid destruction of culture and blood, for as long as possible.
Well, least for people who identify strongly with their people,
Myself I'd call lukewarm,
More concerned with enjoying life, than crusading ideals.

Well, I 'do think they 'might have adapted better,
And that the odds were against them,
Still, they
'Might have won some battles, wars, trade agreements, diplomacies,
Roll of the dice, some situations, ends.
And arguably 'did adapt, given Native Americans are still alive

And possibly they adapted and did their best better than I know,
I 'don't know very much about the history of Native Americans.

I suppose people often 'do get set in their appearance with other people, and play their part, 'due to expectations.
And in others, perhaps play an automatic pre recorded message of sorts. Though that's usually the people with grudges towards each other.

The point in being mean, would be the User is ill spirited towards the faceless mass, Or,
A dislike of the Identity 'associated with the image/name that they are shuffled to, or speaking to.

Some people enjoy being mean spirited 'due to anonymity,
Unshackled, freed their hidden Hyde side, lack of 'true self, shielded,
Prison guards and Sunglasses, Warriors and Battle Paint, Masks and Dark Rituals,
A different identity assumed.

. . .

Then again, as Athias mentions, domino mask at a cocktail party. Often go decent enough in real life, I'd assume.

The 'frequency of Ad hominem attacks are variable, and with effort can be reduced.

Would work better as an opt in, rather than opt out.
Well, work better in the sense of people not wanting it, not have to be involved.

Though as for working at all, just not my style,
I've a low opinion of some people on the site, and imagine it going the route of mean spirited easily.

Well, I doubt the Native Americans then, saw themselves as 'one people,
Maybe not now either.

British, French, Germans, certainly fought among themselves enough in history, thought themselves different people, I'd imagine.

Might be difficult to innovate and invent off the sleeve, realize or 'care about implications.
'Lot of peace treaties were signed, that proved for naught,
And again, separate peoples, quite often,
Different nations meeting the new wave of outsiders.

Which isn't to say Native Americans didn't resist, 'attempt to innovate,
Lot of wars between the Colonists and Natives.

Which, death again, by musket ball rather than disease,
'Prevents one from innovating or 'meeting the future.

. . .

I've heard people mention a book I've not read,

Jared Diamond wrote a book titled Guns, Germs, and Steel which is a brilliant (and quite lengthy) answer to this question. I will try to briefly summarize the key insights.
  1. Societies do not advance beyond a hunter-gatherer lifestyle until they began practicing plant and animal domestication. Settling down and having food surpluses is a prerequisite to specialization of labor, which enables technological development.
  2. Candidates for plant domestication are rare and tend to occur only in certain climates. The fertile crescent, China, North Africa, New Guinea, Central America, and South America each independently discovered plant domestication. And a big difference between old world domesticates (wheat, barley, oats, etc) and those of the new world (maize, potatoes, squash, etc) are that the ones from the old world are much higher in protein, which is the macronutrient most limited in plant based diets.
  3. Candidates for animal domestication are likewise unevenly distributed across the world. The migration of humans to the new world coincided with a massive extinction event of large mammals. The animals present in the new world were likely hunted to death by clever tool-bearing humans - unlike animals in the old world that co-evolved with our brainy ancestors and eventually became cattle and chickens and horses and so on.
  4. The Native Americans had a later start on the road to technological development than European and Asian societies because their ancestors moved into their current location long after the ancestors of those other societies. Migrating vast distances on foot limits the amount of technology a group of people can take with them, so this effectively resets the clock.
  5. The axis of the Eurasian continent is from East to West, which makes it easier to adopt crops in distant geographical regions. In comparison, the axis of the Americas runs North to South. When you move to a different latitude, a number of important factors change: length of day, length of growing season, average temperature, amount of light received, and so on. Maize from Central America took a long time to reach Eastern North America because cold-hardy varieties had to be bred first. The same thing happened with other crops.
There is much more in Guns, Germs, and Steel, but this short introduction gives you an idea of the factors at play.

Addon, additionally, I'd argue Native Americans 'did invent, even some things Europeans didn't have,
Just situations were different.

@sadolite
While I'd say trade 'did matter, between Native Americans, and then new cultures they encountered,

It's difficult to see it as relevant as the effect disease might have had.
Though,

I'm unsure of accuracy, one site I've read says,
"Once Koch and his colleagues collated the before-and-after numbers, the conclusion was stark. Between 1492 and 1600, 90% of the indigenous populations in the Americas had died. That means about 55 million people perished because of violence and never-before-seen pathogens like smallpox, measles, and influenza."

Though,
It's true that some Native Americans used Wampum,
which "the Colonists applied their technologies to more efficiently produce wampum, which caused inflation and ultimately its obsolescence as currency."

There was also the trade of guns,
Which some sources claim made tribes far more dangerous to the fellow tribes, given inequality of weapons,
But Native Americans 'still generally, had no means to make their own gunpowder, guns, or repair of them.

So I have to admit trade matters in such a case as the Native Americans and those newcomers they encountered.

And while I suppose one of the answers would have been to trade more, 'selectively.
What really mattered was the lack of population,
And ack of unity (Understandable, maybe like saying all Europeans should get along just for being Europeans, but look at all those wars between themselves)

If it was a civilization game, with Native Americans as one people,
The answer would have been to unite everyone,
Then retreat the main body far away, while using stalling tactics whether military or diplomacy to slow the loss of land,
Trade with other European nations, appealing to game theory of keeping America from growing too strong, or humanity.
That knowledge, craftsmen could be gained,
Then the building of infrastructure,
Mining, factories, medicine,
Then at least the 'holding, of what one has.

Still,
I place Unity and knowledge,
Above trade.

Russia largest war games since 1981
Did such exercises fill them with confidence I wonder?
Were they merely a parade?
Were they truly exercises they learned from?
Or 'though with surety, they were prepared?

News seems to claim quite a bit, Russia's failures in it's invasion of Ukraine.

I wonder what such would indicate,
Is it a lack of morale by Russian soldiers?
Lack of skill?
Equipment?
Quality of leadership?

Is it the strength of Ukraine?

From a military standpoint, even being beaten, has value, I'd imagine, as it would show an overestimation and/or underestimation of military matters.
The fixing of which has value.
Not sure it's worth the economic sanctions,
Or loss of life, loss of apparent freedom, I'd suppose.

Lately I've been now and then inching together a world,
Worldbuilding,
Basic premise, is generic fantasy world, magic, that is to say energy directed existing,
Exception being that it came about by genetic engineer race, who're all dead now, revolution being achieved,
Followed by a fall to the stone age,
And a rebuilding,
Somehow, the idea of including 'Gods, doesn't appeal to me much,
For one, perhaps some of the longer living races, having a better history/memory of the geneticists existing,
Though perhaps, same as Reason (short story) - Wikipedia,
The existence of said geneticists, does not prevent the existence of Gods that they themselves may have believed,

I suppose what I dislike, is allowing any race to believe in Gods that I 'know would be false, creations of their own.
Though our own Gods, some might argue, are fractions, pieces, distorted but true images themselves,
Hm,

Not that I believe in God, myself.

Anyhow, I lean a bit more myself,
Towards the worlds religions being philosophies, more than standard religions,
As I think most view them.

Though some might argue why 'any religion,
Well, depending on how one 'defines religion. . .

Murderers and rapists should get executed

@TheUnderdog
I'd 'like to think,
That I would not demand the death of an individual who killed me, a friend, or a member of my family.
If justice is duty,
What people 'deserve,
Then I can only consider justice to be moral duty.
That is to say, concern and good intention towards others.
Though I view the far reaches of morality, as an unreasonable expectation of a human, it becomes a direction strived.

There is no justice is smacking a child, in response to them bullying another,
That is but anger, 'or a corrective measure,
It 'still lacks morality, the best outcome, concerned with 'their life, freedom, and that of others.
Justice would be an explanation, a reasoning with, that they realize their harm, make amends, change their ways.

It is not justice to cut off a thief's hand,
It is justice that the stolen item be returned,
It is not justice to ignore those in hunger or lost.

To 'harm another, and not instead explain the crookedness of their action,
To not 'help them, is an injustice.

Though there may be people with an understanding, but no 'desire to help others,
To instead only harm, who feels no duty or empathy,
I'm unsure what justice can do but 'try to help them,
To try that others are not harmed 'by them.

There is no justice in beating a blind man,
When he taps your ship with his cane.

A demand, a forcible extraction of people's money, effort, doesn't have the feel of right,
But we 'are born into a social contract as our nation currently stands,
Myself, I 'might have it more, that communities took care, funded, watched over their own, more,
Than hired strangers.

I think, If my brother murdered myself or my father, I'd not want him murdered in turn.
Though we all have different ideas, and in acknowledging that, it can be harder to demand others forgive as well.

@Discipulus_Didicit
Hahaha,
Still, I stand by my opinion.

It's a matter of principle and game theory.
It is said, that Diogenes threw away his drinking bowl upon seeing a youth drinking water from cupped hands.
Though I'm a consumer and hedonist 'myself,
I can acknowledge value, in people who live a stoic or spartan lifestyle.

Allowing too much trade, gives other countries leverage on  you,
One wants leverage on other countries, 'not the other way around.

It can weaken the sense of national and cultural identity.

It prevents people from self sufficiency in times of disaster.

It 'strengthens people's 'servitude to big business, big government.

I think there are decent reasons to avoid what I would consider excessive trade with other countries.
Though in other posts, I've also acknowledged items I think 'need be traded, or when circumstances make self sufficiency difficult.

As I recall, in the Book Don Quixote, Don Quixote was driven mad by stories of chivalry,
Been books outlawed as their ideas caused moral panic, outrage, fear that they may influence society, or simply offense taken from their contents.
There's also the occurrences of Anti-intellectualism in some parts of history.

Well,

"In its first few years, WoW proved just as popular overseas as it had been in the U.S. With fears of WoW addiction on the rise, the Chinese government announced a "gaming timer mechanism." The mechanism reduced your character's capabilities in half after playing an online game for more than three hours in a single session, and to the lowest possible level after five hours. The timer reset after logging off for five hours. The government claimed it would prevent addiction. They made it mandatory to install in every online game."

"When the beta went live, the extreme nature of the Ministry's censorship became apparent. NetEase had to remove all icons that looked like skulls or severed heads. As you can see in the screenshot below, they replaced all such icons with bags.

Icons for other body parts and/or fluids also had to be replaced. Piles of bones were changed to sand bags. Blood effects became black rather than red."

I 'imagine Sames true for various other media, in most countries, even the USA, filtering imports of culture.

Eh, I hear getting a tattoo causes some pain,
And I suppose tattoos 'are often seen by a portion of society as disfigurement,

So I suppose 'some individuals might get tattoos, with intention or vague feeling of self harm.
Limited body space, I'd think though.

I suppose some people might get tattoos as a form of expression, maybe people with more of a need for expression, are more emotional/unstable.
Though it's not 'bad to have emotions.

Though tattoos are also simply popular in some cultures, whether in,
Institution such as American Military,
A People, such a  Maori people of New Zealand,
Aesthetic subculture, such as Goths.

Though that's not to say all people in military, Maori, or Goths have tattoos, but they're more normal in some societies, I think.

I've also known some people who got tattoos to cover up previous cutting that they did.

Tattoos don't 'mean a person is abnormal though, to my thinking,
But it 'is often an unusual choice, that might say something about the person.

I 'do think it's more positive, constructive, . . . well, 'maybe,
To turn one's cheek, be easygoing, have a more even temper, acceptance that it rains sometimes, or cars splash mud, time to time.

Though I 'still don't think one is wrong to take a break,
Or have self respect, and 'expect respect by others.

Though, it can be difficult to 'force people to give the 'appearance of respect, if one doesn't have the leverage.
Though some people only care for the appearance, others for respect in the heart,

Eh, soft, 'bit flexible approach works decently, I think,
