Yes, it will more likely turn out that Jesus was an illegal Puerto Rican immigrant doing drug running.
I have to wonder about comments like this. Jesus is never an architect or dr.

Why schools should not be starting back up
Unless you are in elementary school teaching you can maintain a six foot radius from most of the kids. Wear masks and have a plastic shield at your desk. Getting your shots will help and the schools are still closed on day a week for cleaning besides the nightly cleaning they do. My son has gone to school this whole year with no contact with corona.

No they shouldn't. There is not physical strength qualifications for those. They are skill based.

Hmmm okay, okay... *thinking face* ... Maybe God taught Noah rocket science and the ark is actually a spaceship! Back then they lived for hundreds of years right?
That sounds like Stephen territory.

I don't think mandatory child support should exist and here is why
-->
@TheUnderdog
So if a deadbeat dad decides he doesn't want rights to the children to avoid paying child support, this is fine?  What does it mean to give up rights to a child?
If either parent wants to avoid doing things for the child they can give up the rights. It means you are no longer a legal guardian of the child. The child isn't yours anymore, legally.

It's a myth.  The people trying  to prove it's not aren't even Jewish.

Have we even won a war since the military became obsessed with diversity?
You blaming Vietnam on women? Sorry but flying a plane, driving a tank and shooting a gun are not just male activities. We don't fight with swords anymore.

Accidental or not she shot a man and killed him. It's manslaughter. A civilian would get the same. And she was assisting two male officers.

Liberal logic
The problem with any government program is it should be funded. If it's not it's a drain on the system and will not sustain itself.  SSI is going to have this problem.  Heath care certainly is.  I think if they had done it in increments and started with kids under 18 there would have been blowback.

Adoption is  when someone takes legal responsibility to raise a child . That child is no longer a child of the parent who gave up rights. They get no visitation or have no say in the child's life. If you are a parent and you decide you just don't want to be around your kid you should still pay the other parent who is doing the work unless you give up your parental rights and you no longer get to see or have a say in the child's life. If you are paying child support you have a right to see your child. Most states are now seeing that fathers are just as responsible and capable of being the main custodial parent and are entitled to child support.

Earliest mention of Jesus Christ
One of the archeological indicators used to determine cults of worship around gods in the Western world is to look to areas named after them or statues that might exist for them. For instance the cult of Loki is rather modern in the sense there are no places in Europe named for him compared to say the lake named for Holda or the great oak of Thor cut down by Bishop Boniface. Are there any ancient sites named for Christ or are all the sites for him built by the established church? That can be an indicator or difference between a cult for a god and just a hero's story.

I don't understand humans regenerating limbs as the proof prayer might work when humans don't naturally have regeneration properties when it comes to limbs. Healing would still have to work within the parameters of nature.

No blessing for same sex marriages.
-->
@Mandrakel
I'm not familiar with US jurisdictions but would not a judge or a pastor be guilty of violating vilification of minorities laws for refusing or passing on a marriage? Or are we getting into gay wedding cake territory here which, as I understand, has not been completely resolved.

It depends. If the judge is not free the day they want to or they have experience with the people they can pass to another judge. In a small community with one judge a refusal might be different.  Pastors can flat out say no or require classes be taken or counseling be done.  People may want a church wedding but they don't attend a church so it can get tricky. But there are usually enough choices you can find someone to sign the license.  If you couldn't find someone and all the judges said no you would have a case with the judges not those outside the state options.

Edit to add: personally I think the ceremony is bs and should be something one does on the side. Business partners don't have to do one, I don't have to do one with the bank to open a checking or get a car loan.  It's a civil contract. You both sign a paper in front of a notary and boom, married.

She refused to issue a license, totally different. You can get a certificate to marry people and decide you don't want to marry certain individuals. No pastor has to marry church members. A judge can pass on a marriage if they parties have appeared in front of him for other things and go to another judge. There are lists of people who are legally certified to marry people in a state. None have to marry specific couples.  A county has to issue a license though. It's a legal document.

None of that has anything to do with the fact you consistently  post comments to people you post  with daily inaccurate "facts" about what they think and believe. As far as the OP they gave their opinion and I gave mine.  Then you stepped in and gave what you thought was mine. Maybe you should quit speaking for others and state your own thoughts.

A soul -- or something else -- or nothing at all?
Was there ever really nothingness? What is that exactly? In Norse myth even the yawning void Ginnungagap at least contained the element to form worlds. Most creation myths imply an order from chaos. Is the chaos nothingness or random somethingness.

All marriages are civil. That is why divorces happen in civil court. A registrar would work for the state right? No one authorized to do marriages has to marry anyone. Not even judges.

DebateArt Member Interviews & Survey
I picked Religion because it's where I post the most and I might do the others later.

Religion:
1Generally, which religion do you identify with?  Heathen though I attend a Spiritualist church.
2. Generally, do you believe religion to be important to society - how so or how not?   People make up society and it's important to people so.
3. Do you believe the religion you identify with is being persucted or bigoted against?  No. Lately we have been getting a bad rap due to racists morons.
4. Do you believe that its important for education to instill relgious values into children?   I think you should let children know religion is important to people and effect society due to that reason and let them feel safe to explore their own spirituality
5. Aside from the god of your religion, do you believe that religion is the most important aspect of life?  Yes. it is addressed by me everyday in some way.
6. Do you believe that everyone else, or the majority of people, should be of your religion? No. I think you should be in a religion because you feel pulled to work with god or goddess.
7. What do you think of indivudals who do not affilate with your religion?  Ok by me.
8. Do you believe that the church and government should be seperated? Absolutely
9. Do you believe that individuals have a freedom from religion as well as a freedom to religion?  Yes
10. What questions, if any, would you add to this section of the survey? I am surprised you didn't ask about holy text, omniscience or free will.

You don't need religion. You don't have to have religion. You don't have to practice religion. You are the one posting in a religion forum. If you are that annoyed consider why you continue to expose yourself to theists since you make no conversations or alterations to anyone by posting here.

Religion is either in school or out of school. If your going to actively tell kids they and their families are liars then you should also teach  comparative religion courses where every faith is discussed.  Give all sides or none.

God cannot solve solipsism
Cant' think of anything there is one of in nature.  The idea of one God seems like crap to me for that reason. Though I do think there is a great life force or spirit that facilitates creation but it has no control over that creation. The  laws of nature take over once the energy is put out there. It's not manipulating anything. Gods are a product of evolution same as us.

My head isn't in the sand. No church is required to marry anyone. Period. This changes nothing the church hasn't been doing for centuries. If you don't like their policy leave the church and quit giving them money.

What causes politics?
Why do people get so invested in politics? Same reason they like cycling or fishing. Some thrill in the exchange or general interest in how it works. There are people who are more interested in  Civil War politics than modern version and write books and study it. They find the people interesting.  Then there is feeling some kind of control or having a say in your own life.  Being able to vote should lead one to at least check out a person running. Then there is exerting authority over others. I don't like abortion you can't have one or helping others, I think you should have health care I will vote this way.  The current trend of hating the other side started back with Clinton. At least I think so. The impeachment over what some believed came down to he just humped an intern who cares leading to what people felt was a moral dilemma. The sides went from adversaries to enemies. Each Presidential election made it worse.  A leader would help bring some kind of unity but we don't elect leaders. Until we do or have a huge release of steam it's going to progress.

atheists can't meet their burden of proof - miracles
From the site, Glaucoma Research Foundation:

Is there any way that damage to the optic nerve can be reversed?
At the present time, no. Research is still in the initial stages of investigating the mechanisms of regeneration and how they can be stimulated. However, there is a lot of exciting work going on in this area.
Optic nerve regeneration is possible in some lower vertebrates. For example, in animals such as fish and frogs, an injured optic nerve regenerates fully, allowing for a complete restoration of vision. In mammals, it has been shown that retinal ganglion cells, when put under conditions found in the peripheral nervous system, can successfully regenerate their axons.
Researchers are studying the visual systems of these animals to find out what factors stimulate retinal ganglion cells to regrow their axons and restore the transmission of visual information to the brain.

So not in humans (yet)  but it can.
