how recently? sometimes our perspectives alter over time.

I am extremely interested in almost all series that involve crime and/or law enforcement but not the cheesy style of CSI.
Big Series I extremely like at present are The Blacklist, Homeland, Power and basically any along that theme. A series aside from these, on a scifi theme, that I enjoyed a lot was Heroes.
Created:
I have begun to realise that a niche of debates I am much more interested in that I first assumed and good at doing, are discussions of characters and such in fictional shows/series/movie-franchises.
It is very important that your offered debate topics inside this thread do not directly spoil something, if they do, please put in very clear formatted test 'SPOILER ALERT' above it.
This is primarily for offering series and general characters or scenes (that you hint at) and for people to DM/PM each other about it, or even directly challenge. This can be moved to TV or whatever section when the mods want but I am putting this in the DART section because I want people to see it and that subforum is barely viewed at all.

I think god is actually bored of being so powerful, it must get boring to literally be unbeatable, the joy of domination in games comes from the fact that you could be beaten if you played it worse.

Of course it can. Our brain itself runs on electrical sybaoses fused with biological brain as framework, the AI will be mechanical where we are biological but you can absolutely simulate nerves and the kind of evolving algorithmic processing that goes on in our brain, it will require very high amounts of RAM and programming. The robot will not be able to 100% randomly attain creative thoughts like we can but it can definitely think deeper and faster than us and this will happen as we evolve robotics past AI cars and begin to establish AI that factors in moral equations.

Is it fair that we let very fit jocks and the female equivalent of jocks to compete against barely matured skinny/fat weak kids that have barely hit puberty yet?
I feel there's surely an unfair aspect to it in terms of ability for the latter to impress or score high.

If we had a world where there were no import/export tariffs and economics was purely about trade between consumers and providers of goods/services, economics itself would ve both simpler and in fact more closely linked to productivity than it currently is.

This is my result today, feel free to post yours and to keep updated lists, even with combined plots.
For the record, I think the test is poorly designed with many questions eother leaving only one answer correct or alternatively being worded in a confusing way via 'if' and 'sometimes' etc making it confusing what precisely is being asked.

What happened to your friend happens the other way around if you're prochoice in a religious school, just so you know.
Created:
-->
@Vader
If that genuinely happened with the pro-life student and you aren't taking it out of context, then I agree with you. That's absolutely terrible for a school to do rather than engage him to explain his perspective and perhaps explain that the school is a pro-choice school, in a diplomatic manner.

I genuinely meant the word without severe insult to it. I was referring to a subculture within US that refer to themselves as rednecks, thanks for saying your piece.

The problem is that in a dream journal you're meant to specify the dirty/dangerous parts of dreams, it's important if it's being used for therapy purposes.
I will give you a piece of advice, don't let your alarm be too far away from you or too loud. If you're a auper deep sleeper odk the solution. Train yourself to wake up softly and slowly and KEEP your eyes shut while waking up, STAY lying down. This tricks the brain into slipping in and out of the exact dream's storyline that you were just having. After truly understanding the dream's key parts, then write in the journal everything you thought of and saw in your closed eyes.

I am curious of something. Out of these words which is the least rude and embraced by the group:
- Cracker
- White trash
- Hillbilly
- Redneck
- Hick
- Trailer trash
- Confederate
I am under the understanding that all except 4 are ruder than 4. I am asking this genuinely to understand how to make a thread that proves they have their own political correctness and cancel culture, without being too offensive to them. What word/term should I have used? Don't say 'farmer' that is far too vague and offensive to non-farmer R**necks.

@janesix
best to keep this private if you ask me... We dream very embarassing things at times and that's fine.
Created:

@oromagi
Actually 'redneck' was a term invented by the working class miners who wore red bandanas around their necks to help wipe away sweat and dirt. The more politically correct term 'hillbilly' was ironically the opposite, it was the more insulting term that others gave them but over time it flipped around somewhat, for reasons that nobody at all knows (not even them).
I am not making a thesis, If I wanted a PhD on right-wing US subcultures, I wouldn't be posting that material on this website.

@MisterChris
The average citizen is gullible and susceptible to peer pressure. Due to this, positive cancel culture is not just possible but a necessary evil to combat disinformation and toxic ethos being spread on platforms of mass influence.
My thread's purpose is to prove that the people who play the victim to it, are brutal perpetrators of it in a sense that is even less justifiable. You try to say the wrong shit in some very right-wing areas and you will be in hospital.

What do all religions have in common?
I don't just mean an afterlife but that surely is part of it.
Enlighten me as to your answer, because ultimately it boils down to two things:
- Avoiding admitting that we genuinely will die.
- Justifying being a pushover now for a long-term reward much later.

He was describing a scenario where two guys already were 2v1 and threatening to beat the shit out of him as a homophobic gang if he kept speaking in favour of gay marriage legalisation.
This is extremely synonymous with the 'pile on the poster' ethos that modern day Internet social media cancel culture entails and conservatives keep acting as if it's one-way and something they never do.

@Soluminsanis
Generally speaking, I find Theists to be more predictable and thus 'readable' when dealing with them, whereas atheists and fake 'believers' are much more complex, by and large, to predict and avoid being manipulated by.
I would have a Theist do an up-front mission and an atheist do an undercover, long-term, complex mission if I worked for an Intelligence Agency. I would also polygraph them to make sure that I understood how 'true' their Theistic faith vs doubt in god and religion was.
An agnostic, deist or a Pagan Theist may be suitable for the atheist level of complexity and unpredictability.
Theists, who genuinely believe in their faith, are people I appreciate for their honesty and predictability. They are very reliable people who will struggle to lie or alter themselves to suit situations where they must be fake. This is something that I appreciate about them. It has its downside and trade-off though.

@Soluminsanis
In all those examples, you don't really die, you just go on to the afterlife.
Buddhism is kind of an exception because eventually after enough rebirths and karmic debt paid off, your soul becomes 'at one' meaning it ceases to exist as an individual and becomes one with the rest of reality. The other religions all deny that you literally die, meaning 'you' the soul.
We will die, there is nothing you or I can do to stop it. It is futile to deny it.

I looked at your link... It ranks based on papers published and ignores country size entirely yet still European nations dominate the top ten... The top 2 are massive compared to the nations following them.
China doesn't share its research with the world, it may as well be non-scientific since it only reveals 5% of its research at most for the benefit of international science.
Created:

@Greyparrot
You are ignoring size of nations in your ridiculously superficial ranking.

Almost all religions revolve around denying that death is inevitable and that we eventually will be nothingness just as we originally were pre-birth.
We are going to die. We will not live on. We are meaningless and never will mean more than what we make out of our limited, insignificant lives. This is horrific for egocentric people and so they create a fairytale that tells them that in the afterlife they'll be treated oh so well. It doesn't happen. God wouldn't design reality to reward the humble and good with an afterlife where you are selfish and hedonistic in paradise. That entirely contradicts itself.
It's not nice to think that we just die and just live with no deep meaning to it. It's a truth even many atheists deny despite knowing it's true, deep down.
You can sit all day typing in this subforum about your coping mechanism regarding death and the futility of life. It's not going to change the facts but neither is being atheist going to change the fact that nothing can't create everything, there must be a god. We are probably in a simulation, I'm not sure why and don't think that pretending you know the reason why is intellectually honest/genuine

Lol, the world's leading scientists are in Europe. People emigrate to Switzerland and surrounding nations, such as Germany, because the capacity to genuinely research is unparalleled in more 'capitalist' nations as grants in Europe are given more leniently for genuine sake of discovery, not just for profit. The vaccines for Covid that are being used outside of China, were made in Belgium for one brand and UK for the other. The most ambitious and groundbreaking research is consistently and has been consistently done in Europe.

How exactly can the poor afford to migrate out consistently and how can they even know it's better there?
Also, it's not ideal for that to be the outcome, ideally they remain in the US and push for US to become fairer on them, instead of overpopulating Europe etc.

Trump is a filthy, immoral bastard in many different ways. Stop acting like for a single second he deserves any kind of 'aww poor thing', he brought it on himself and is getting away with the blood of a cop on his hands in recent times, as well as four of his own supporters thanks to a riot he inspired 100% intentionally.
He has committed so many crimes before and during his presidency, he is the equivalent of Al Capone and should go down just like Capone did.

The entire western europe, canada, aus+nz, south korea, japan and a few other places approaching social democracy prove your theory wrong. It's not as simple as rich ruling regardless. Instead, in social democracy the rich thrive but don't completely control.

You cannot safeguard against 'crony capitalism' without government-enforced protections of workers, small businesses and consumers.
Created:
-->
@Greyparrot
Crony Capitalism is literally what all free markets become. Name one exception. Greedy, sociopathic CEOs don't suddenly operate morally when given more freedom to fuck people of their nation over for their own gain.
Created:

@Greyparrot
Your first paragraph is a lie and shows pure wilful ignorance. There are plenty of less developed nations which display what unfettered capitalism mutates into when the rich and organised criminals are free thanks to a small, easily corrupted government with very little oversight. Nigeria is an extremely good example of this but there's plenty more.
The rest, following the first paragraph, is nonsense rhetoric that isn't worth addressing.

@sadolite
The smaller the government gets, the more free that corporations and organised crime are to have their ruthless way with the populace.
Too big is bad due to beaureacracy and delays, too small is bad due to not enough being done to stop sophisticated and ruthless money movers.
