If you could rewrite one part of the U.S. Constitution, what would it be?
-->
@fauxlaw
Do you know what a machine gun is? Also your neighbour is making illegal weapons then but if you're in a state like Tennessee, Texas, Alabama etc they'll just let him own it anyway as it's not worth the hassle for the governor or sheriff to do anything to jeopardize their pro-gun support base.

@ILikePie5
The only part of the Constitution I'd leave the same is the right to privacy stuff. The rest is worded too vague or is actually wrong. The second amendment needs to be about arming the populace with information to resist corrupt politicians, not arming them with guns that would be useless vs sophisticated robot-aimed machine guns that the US government is currently caoable of using.

Peterson is more decent than Yiannopoulos, they aren't close at all in terms of intellect and debate capacity, the latter covers for his lack in skill by being cunning and good with rhetoric.

Both are misguided and assume that the optimal solution to any issue is always the simplest one.

Your mockery and the idea that the 'Soviets would surely expose the Americans' is based on false understanding of ambition, greed and that missiles don't require outer space, just a region outside the sky.

There was no reason for Soviet Russia to truly expose a lie that benefitted two enemy/rival superpowers at the time.

Why does anyone wants to be an anarchist?
Totalitarianism is legalised blackmail from state to populace.

Anarchy is illegitimised blackmail from the strong and/or resourceful to those that lack.

In reality, both are toxic.

The age of censorship by the elites needs to end if you don't want to live in a totalitarian Russia or Chinese state.
It was as they shifted away from Socialism towards severe Capitalism that these nations' surveillance became utterly inescapable and their mastery of the media became absolute, while Communist their methods were more rudimentary and their ability to get away with it in the eyes of other nations was much worse.

I am not glorifying Communist China or Soviet Russia but I am indeed saying it's more securely corrupt and invincible towards outside influence and/or attack now vs in its Communist era.

China is only Communist in name, it is the world's single biggest exporter and treats its people like commodities, it is in no shape or form left-wing AT ALL. It doesn't even have a single animal rights law or environmetnal protection clause, this is not left-wing let alone the entire lack of human rights.

You are mostly like an Aquarius but you do have many Taurus traits.

Zodiac signs are an incomplete theory in my opinion. I'm a flat earther who believes the stars indeed are linked to destiny but I do not think that the zodiac signs and way of splitting up destiny paths based on birth month and moon+sun+planet positions is sufficiently complete. There is something significantly missing in it, for instance it needs to be fused with numerology and a couple of other things for one's true destiny path to be decrypted.

9sk/seldiora's Gauntlet Tournament
-->
@MisterChris
He is saying he wants to recycle the gauntlet each and every time. So if he beats Ayyantu, then Ayyantu joins the tower rather than being eliminated.

He says this is fair because it lets Ayyantu face someone like Whiteflame later on.

I say that's a waste of time because the dynamic here, and reason you are ranking players based on previously-perceived ability, is that we prey on the predator of the previously eliminated in a vicious cycle until finally a challenger proves our previous idea of who'd beat who wrong, since the challenger defeats the 'higher ranked' players. This may end up proving us right if Whiteflame beats me in the end (since that's what the ranking suggests the final 2 will be) but fundamentally, I am forcing an ending to the gauntlet and minimising the duration by saying if Seldiora beats Ayyantu, Ayyantu doesn't get to join the tower and instead is eliminated entirely while Seldiora becomes the new challenger.

It's not clever, what's clever is how they (the folk behind the NASA+Roscosmos scheme) have made people like you so absolutely certain that it's the sphere they tell you it is. It is the only example in non-dicatorships where one authority has all power to tell you the truth in a field of science and no one else can audit or clash with them without their permission.

This is true even if the Earth really is Round and we are in the middle of nowhere in space, hurtling inside the milky way through nothingness.

AI will kill us all!
There is something that all these dystopian movies fail to understand. Even if the secret society of elites who design the AI are so suicidal that they make it capable of leading their own species to its demise, there is a capacity in human beings more so than any animal and all animals have it more than robots (except for insect-level animals); creative use of information in a lateral-thinking manner.

AI that is conscious can think laterally too but not creatively. If you knew enough about the coding and cut down how exactly the AI goes about processing information, you can always out-bluff and out-predict it because real life is much closer to tournament poker than chess. You can defeat the bots based on creatively altering your baseline habits and tendencies. It is not easy at all, it takes a huge amount of training and restraint but you can get there. If soldiers were trained extremely unlike they are now; to instead operate much closer to secret agents, black-ops, navy SEALs etc, there'd become an extreme disadvantage on the bot's part. Robots are also capable of deceiving us and altering their own patterns tactically but overall they can't do this nearly as rapidly and cunning as we do.

You may think I am underestimating how ingenious bots can be but you are wrong. This is a limitation of even the most complex synthetically conscious being; it is always more predictable than a human is, assuming the humans have access to the secret information the bots has access to and that the humans are intelligent vs the norm.

Suicidal Thoughts, Generally Low Self-Esteem and Atheism
-->
@EtrnlVw
I understand what you're saying:

  1. Anyone (of any belief system) can experience depression.
  2. You believe Theism is a fact, not opinion.
While 1 is true, 2 is where most would debate you but I don't want to debate that because if you believe that who am I to disqualify your experience and comprehension of reality?

I am not sure that the form of depression I had (which wasn't so much insecurity and low self esteem as it was a deep emptiness, it was the kind of depression where you feel empty and angry rather than sad and insecure) is the kind of depression that Theists reach if they experience depression. If a true Theist experiences that kind of depression they are in the transition towards atheism because it almost always involves fury towards the god(s) they worship(ped) and a mixture of anger and emptiness as their faith is struggling to be maintained. That kind of emptiness and deep suffering is usually experienced when people feel absent of any true meaning and deeper reason to do anything good or long-lasting in life.

Transgender - Discussion/Education
I think that the issue is that transphobes come into the argument ready to prove transgenders wrong, rather than to understand their struggle.

There are no people struggling with wanting to become a panda bear or kangaroo because there are no hormones or brain abnormalities that can cause a DNA-based or hormone-based motive to want to become that. The culture thing is supported by leftists far more than right-ists.

Left-wingers support someone who is Caucasian claiming full Kenyan citizenship if they were born and bred there, especially (and vice versa they support 'native Kenyan blacks' to gain US citizenship especially if they were born and bred in US).

I am unsure where the confusion is or comparisons are being made but as someone who sees a lot more hypocrisy and ignorant 'you can't decide to become this or think this way' than just transgenderism, I am not surprised that irrational prejudice and ridiculous analogies are the basis of their arguments.

Masculinity vs femininity is a genuine, DNA+hormone nature AND nurture based thing that people alter throughout their life and don't all have the same baseline of. A very masculine female is functioning with many traits, preferences and habits that are masculine and would prefer to be called 'he' not because gender isn't binary but in fact because 'she' doesn't naturally suit her typically assigned gender role, instead suiting the other one. Some people are just as masculine as they are feminine and suit a gender fluid 'they'. This is something that isn't hard to grasp if you appreciate that they aren't going out of their way to be prima donnas, they genuinely are hormonally, genetically and psychologically structured to suit a gender different to the one that's typically associated with theirs at birth.

Not all female-sex beings are more feminine than they are masculine. Professionals in the fields of science is the most prominent place to find sex-based females who blatantly are masculine in almost every way other than big muscles. Professionals in the fields such as fashion and in fact all the arts are the most likely place to find sex-based males who gender-wise are feminine in many regards.

There is a lot of purpose behind the lie, financial motive came later on (with NASA etc) but the lie (if it's a lie) is perfect for many reasons.

Turning science into an autocracy is very clever; it lets you call the opposition dangerous, not just stupid. As soon as we associate authority with a scientific conclusion, we need to ask who the authority answers to. NASA answers to the US government and whoever relies on NASA's success outside of the government, financially and politically speaking. No one is entitled to question it or oppose it, Roscosmos is merely allowed to compete.

As for China, I am not sure where I said I trust China. I said even China needs permission from US and Russia to carry out space missions.

Explain how topics are chosen. I am /in conditionally based on topic choice mechanics.

I learned from previously joining a tournament that I don't enjoy being thrown into a situation where I'm playing devil's advocate in a very serious topic, all urge to debate well goes away as I don't feel comfortable passionately debating against what I believe if it's a 'big famous competition' where I'm doing it. It is important to me that the topic and side are in the hands of the debaters.

How do we know we are believing the right god?

Created:

@rosends
Then you were dishonest in that interview thing I did, or you've changed your outlook.

If you're Orthodox, you think your religion's God is the real one. A Rabbi cannot simply sit there and say 'but it's the same as all monotheistic gods'. Not exactly, it's just that the mainstream religions that are monotheistic all say they are Abrahamic even though they all three actually say the others are wrong.

For instance, let's take pork. The Abrahamic God irrationally outlaws eating pork... A god-made creature fit for human consumption is ruled out because it's 'dirty and lazy'... A pig is hardly more Satanic than a cow or hen, it's just an irrational claim. As for fasting, when is the right time to fast and the reason to do so? In Islam it's done in order to empathis with the poor (which doesn't make sense as Islamic fasting involves stuffing one's face prior to dawn and just after dusk which is very terrible for digestion and not the way poor people eat anyway). In Judaism, the fasting is often done allowing liquids to be consumed during it and the focus is more on self-discipline.

There are also Pagans who have a monotheistic theory of reality, they aren't all polytheists.

Based on previous conversations with you, the reason you are confused here is that you personally see religion as superficial tradition that one is raised into and has no right to question because it's nothing to do with 'truth', only family tradition.

The general member of a debating website, such as this, is not as 'normal' as you (yes, you are actually more normal outside of this website) and sees the question of which God is the real deity in charge of reality as a truly complex puzzle worthy of solving, not simply setting aside as irrelevant. They also see 'religion' as indeed something to which, if they would adhere, they'd be devout and reverent towards the theology of (not just the traditions of), taking it as true not simply convenient to conform to based on upbringing. These people are asking which God is the real one because they care which deity, identified by his/her/their set of morals as well as overall persona(lity) is the one that actually runs this reality. Conversely, you couldn't care less about that (if I am right about you that is) and think religion is solely about the songs, events, art so on and so forth.

Assuming you aren't trolling me and/or stringing me along, let's discuss this more (or formally debate it if you want).

Are you aware that all astronauts on the planet of other nations with their own space stations are only permitted to partake in missions run by either NASA or Roscosmos (and Russia typically allows US to call the shots because they don't want to waste funding on it more often than not).

This is because it is UN-decreed law that one of those 2 need to 'okay' each and every space-research-based project. Even China answers to them.

Schools shouldn't fund the sports over the arts
While I disagree with Sadolite because I'm a very socialised-education type of person politically and wish loans almost didn't exist (but the social democracies that have loans actually make you pay it back very, very slowly in a reasonable way), I agree with the notion that if we are to run schools as a preparation for working in the Capitalist business-centric world, we are not supposed to teach children the arts.

I do not agree that sports should be removed and I am saying this as the type of dude who was not athletic and was picked near-last for teams in group vs group scenarios. I'm just saying that sports are undeniably better and more necessary than the arts if we are talking about what children need to learn and do at school regardless of their upbringing and home life. Arts are unfair regardless of the passion one feels inside because you may love acting, singing, painting, instruments etc but your genre and/or style is not suited at all to the strict curriculum. Arts can't be sufficiently taught as an educational regimented thing in schools but they can be flexibly taught in specialised university classes and perhaps for 16-18 year-olds they should be made available but not for 14-16 or younger to any significant degree. There should instead be a period in the day called 'structural recreation' where artistic pupils are free to go to a free-form acting thing run as a club and a lot of extra-curriciular activities that are relatively free or cheap for students to partake in should be available in any school, public or not. This is very important because it allows the people drawn to the arts to engage in the arts and those who aren't drawn to it to not be forced to waste time doing them. Sports help health for any student. There is no student who sports are bad for but there are some special needs that will make it more complex to provide sports for students, just as with any subject vs special needs students.

October 2020 in-depth rating system for debaters, by RationalMadman.
-->
@seldiora
Yes, you were much worse before if you mean as a DART debater. People say you got worse when you came here and 'improved rapidly' but it's that you got slightly rusty and had gotten wiser but clumsy vs the norm here.

In DDO you could easily expect many noobs to accept debates, not just instigate them, so noobsniping was a matter of actively doing whatever you wanted and if a hard debater showed up you can just 'wing it' and not care too much about the loss. What you realised early on is that you can't handle the 11-on-the-go chain debate style you had at DDO in your hyper phases.

You also began to realise that voters here pay more attention to actual arguments-vs-rebuttals interaction (whether correctly understanding them or not) whereas on DDO eloquence mattered much more than logic, voters tended to get away with sloppy votes that just showed they got the 'gist'. This led to you learning to focus on the logic more than eloquence which is a correct adaptation to this site's environment and norms.

You never got worse and then 'rapidly got better' you just had a skillset coming here that was good enough for DDO grinding but bad for DART grinding.
