Jews and Catholics are both very vanilla at work. The Catholics are puritan about it though (very bad). You offend a Catholic (lets say they are an art major and you say it's easy to get); you might get fired. You offend a Jew (same insult), the Jew doesn't get offended as easily. They know genuinely offensive comments (like saying the Jews drink Christain blood), they won't get too bothered.
But at work, they are both too anti free speech (or if you need this translated into democrat messaging; they aren't as accepting towards minority viewpoints).
They should have a cop mentality here (or African immigrant from some shithole country if you need a democrat group). Cops (from what I've seen) have seen people get shot and killed; they aren't going to be traumatized by trivial stuff.

The 'other side' is either forced to take defending a violent hate crime or is somehow because of your wording, meant to support Sharia style lashings to the point the punished may die and definitely will have long term bodily damage.
I think the guy should be lashed because I believe as a matter of principle that the penalty for brutal assault should be lashings (because the alternative is jail and I don't want my tax dollars taking care of a bad person because prison is a reward if you're homeless because you get free room and board). If this was a straight white redneck man (defined as Person A) assaulting Person B (nonbinary pansexual black with green hair), then I will simultaneously think Person B is cringe and an eyesore while advocating lashings for Person A because you shouldn't be allowed to beat someone up for being an eyesore and you shouldn't get taxpayer money taking care of you if you are a bad person. Most of you are either democrat or republican and anytime the bible says something left wing, the democrat protestant says it's god's will and the GOP protestant says it's a metaphor and God didn't mean it literally (vice versa for the right wing aspects of the bible).
Your politics determines how you interpret your religion, and if you do vice versa, then you are a theocrat (a few of the GOP Protestants will own that they are theocrats, but the Democrat Protestants never do and most from both parties don't).
I could tell them, "Both parties are tribalistic" and they will agree with me in the moment, but then go back to their partisan ways.
If the bile says to do X (assuming X doesn't harm others significantly), then the religious person should personally do X and encourage their followers to do X while not forcing X on others. X can be helping the poor or waiting until marriage; it's irrelevant what party it's coded too.

To decent people, the word, "sheep" is an insult to them as it implies they can't think for themselves.
Catholics take pride in being a sheep. They don't like thinking; they let the pope do their ideological thinking and they blindly accept it without question even if the pope contradicts himself or is hypocritical (selling all you have and giving to the poor while sitting on a golden throne for example).
The pope doesn't prosecute the r@pe that happens in the church. Could you imagine if 4% of a private school's teachers r@ped kids? They would be out of business. The Catholic Church gets away with it and the Catholics don't consider it a deal breaker.
