-> @3RU7ALonly SOME members of the royal family are required to "show up" for SOME ceremoniesand there is a lot of activity that does NOT get reported in the pressThey do get some moments of privacy and those considered not to be senior royals get more privacy unless they do something considered inappropriate and therefore newsworthy. The royals are also subjected to what are professional gossip mongers, the papers frequently feature articles about the royals and those article’s credibility relies on something like “a royal expert has said” “a palace insider has claimed” “a royal source has alleged,” all basically appeals to some anonymous authority. There are also royal biographers who have never spoken to a member of the royal family but rely on similar gossip. Although the royal family has the legal right to sue for libel, it is unlikely that they would do so because of royal protocol, and the media knows this. Stories about the royals sell papers and the gullible lap up all they read.Personally, I am neither pro nor anti royal. Although I do find all the pageantry and ritual fascinating in a surreal sort of way.
Both Trump and Americans can learn from the Monarchy how to earn the respect of its subjects.
Trump as a former president was impeached twice.

--> @ShilaUkraine is going to lose the war. Putin is already showing determination by trying to draft 300,000 volunteers into the army. At the same time Russians are fleeing Russia to avoid the draft and face the Ukrainians military, many others are ready to fight. This is all happening in Russia under Putin's leadership and during Russia's gains in the Donbas in East Ukraine.
Putin is shown desperation by calling up 300,000 reservists. He miscalculated the determination of the Ukrainian people.
Russians are leaving the country to avoid the draft or face the Ukrainian army.
Putin has lost all credibility. His dreams of restoring the Soviet Union was dashed to the ground. His own survival is threatened.

--> @ADreamOfLiberty"The seller believes the defect cannot be remedied without taking a huge financial loss. The buyer believes it can."This is a different case, since you added additional information that change the morality of a decision. In that changed situation, the greater consent of a buyer is violated by an action of a seller who had the ability not to sell but still actively engaged in selling.Simple way for seller not to violate the greater consent of a buyer is not to sell. This would mean greater consent of a buyer would be upheld. In case of child-adult relationship, the greater consent is violated in societies where these relationships are attacked. The greater consent is violated by not allowing a child to have control over body.Unlike the seller in the example: even if an adult didnt have a relationship with a child, the greater consent of a child would still be violated by society. By preventing the very situation that in free society would happen (the situation that child desires), this society is violating childs greater consent. So in case of a child adult relationships, the answer is that society violates childs greater consent.
You have not mentioned what is being bought or sold between child and adult in their relationship. Is the child consenting to sex with the adult? Is the child the buyer or seller?
Is the analogy buyer and seller even appropriate for your child protection case?

What appalls me about those who purport to support Ukraine and who are attacking the anti-war position, is that they seem to be seriously considering the possibility that Ukraine is going to win the war and overthrow Putin. Now that’s completely pie in the sky. Anybody who believes that is jeopardizing the lives of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians as we speak. At best, you’re going to have a stalemate. Now a stalemate is terrible for the people of Ukraine. Because we know what Putin is going to do. He’s going to do what he did in Grozny. He’s going to raze to the ground areas that he needs to abandon. The Ukrainian army has been very heroic, and I applaud them for having resisted. But they cannot win the war.Do we really want this painful, murderous stalemate go on and on and on? Do we really want to invest in regime change in Russia that is instigated by the United States? Whenever the United States has tried to regime change we’ve had complete catastrophe. Look at Afghanistan, look at Iraq, look at Libya. And this is a nuclear power. Do we want to play with this fire, with this nuclear fire?We should have an immediate ceasefire. President Zelenskyy, to his credit, has now adopted the very clear proposal that ant-war advocates have been making from day one: that we should have an agreement between Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin — of course, with Zelenskyy, and the European Union participating — that makes a very simple trade, a deal. Russia withdraws from Ukraine, and Ukraine withdraws from the Donbas, in exchange for an end to the sanctions and a commitment, by the West, that Ukraine is going to be part of the West but not part of Nato. The alternative is a very, very, very, very, cold and deadly winter for Ukraine.

->@ShilaYou wanted to know how to deal with buyers and sellers of a house and what to consider before giving consent. No I didn't, not even close.
Here is your post on seller and buyer post#146
ADreamOfLiberty responds to Best.Korea: There is more than the defect, there are the implications of the defect.
The seller believes the defect cannot me remedied without taking a huge financial loss. The buyer believes it can.
You defined "greater consent" as whether someone with better knowledge would still consent if they could go back in time. You extended it to others, so the seller has an imaginary version of the buyer in his head that wouldn't consent after learning (for sure) that the defect is beyond remedy.
Therefore the seller violated greater consent by accepting "lesser" (aka real) consent.
Let's say that it turns out the seller was right, it was impossible to fix and the house had to be demolished; effectively wasting a decade of the buyer's hard work.
So the buyer came to the realization that it would have been better if he had never consented, therefore his greater consent was violated.
Yet the only way to "not violate" this greater consent would be to assume that the seller is right and reject the buyer's consent as invalid. Indeed in the full context of the analogy where minor/adult sex is actively punished by the state, police would have to come and arrest the seller before he violated greater consent.
This is absurd, it is incompatible with the principle of liberty from which the moral significance of consent arises.

If the Ukrainians drive out the Russians like Afghanistan did with the Soviet invasion. We saw how quickly the Soviet Union collapsed.
If Putin is forced out of office because of massive military losses and sanctions, we can see a weakened Russia further isolated as more countries join NATO.

--> @ShilaBut what about this overt campaign by Zelenskyy to encourage more direct Western military intervention? He’s the leader of a country that is being invaded: it is perfectly natural for him to be calling upon the rest of the world to come to their assistance. I’m sure he would have loved it if Nato waltzed in, even though I’m sure he understands that it would bring us to the precipice of a nuclear catastrophe. It is his job to ask for us to step in.But to his credit, he’s done something else as well. He’s embraced the neutrality solution. And he is participating in discussions with Russians, and negotiations. Let’s face it, the European Union is a figment of our imagination. We’re so fragmented, we are a non-player, really. It’s only the United States that can provide Zelenskyy with the backing he needs in his negotiations with Putin. What people object to about that is that it has the whiff of people making decisions for smaller countries over their heads. What the people of Ukraine want is neither here nor there. My own country would not exist if we didn’t have such an arrangement back in the late 1820s. We were under the Ottomans for 400 or 500 years. We had our own revolution, our own resistance against the Ottoman armies. In the end, how did Greece come about? It came about because the great powers — the English, the French, and the Russians — sat down with the Ottomans. And they said: “Greece becomes an independent state, it’s a kind of buffer zone between the Ottoman Empire and the West”. And we were given a chance to exist. What is your message, then, to people who object to the invasion of Ukraine but also feel deeply uneasy about the West’s involvement? How should they react when they are called Putin supporters?Be kind. I don’t think you should antagonise anybody these days, because there is so much antagonism already. Maintain your cool, support the Ukrainian resistance against Putin’s armies. Do not succumb to the silence of militarism and perpetual war. And always keep your eye on the trophy, which is immediate peace, withdrawal of Russian troops and Ukrainian troops from the Donbas — and a Donbas that we all help get back up on its feet.
The Ukrainians are making the decisions and fighting the Russians to defend and recover their land annexed by the Russians.
America and NATO countries are aiding the Ukrainians to face the Russians by responding to calls by Ukrainians for aid and weapons.

--> @Best.KoreaIn every context, the greater consent comes as most important.Ok, my last try: I gave you an example of where this concept of greater consent was not more important, buying an "as is" house. You said "well greater consent is violated but no one is to blame"Well now let's say everybody knows about the defect, but the buyer wants to take it on anyway. If the seller doesn't think it's a good idea, they are not doing something immoral by selling the house. The buyer, after being given all relevant information possessed by other parties in the interaction, has a right to his or her own judgement.Although it is moral for the seller to refuse to sell, it is not immoral to sell. The consent of a peer absent of fraud is sufficient. Thus "greater consent" fails to function as the "unified field theory" of moral interaction.
Buyers are advised to consult experts before making an offer. That includes house inspection experts and lawyers.

The demand for slaves were in British colonies and America. Africans were recruited and ordered to find slaves in their country and paid for their services.
But the real beneficiaries of the slave trade were the British and Americans. That is why they should pay reparations. Africans owe an apology to their country men and after reparation is paid should welcome their black brothers back.

--> @ShilaCoal: I underestimated you above. Your understanding of Foucault, at least, exceeds my expectations.Coal: But you are wrong on the policy of so-called "gender affirming care," for reasons I have already said.
Here is what you said about gender affirming care. Post#6
“Some historical perspective. . . . . . The actual practice of so-called "gender affirming care" is indistinguishable from the war crimes for which we hung Nazis at the end of World War II, after convicting them for crimes against humanity at Nuremberg. The only thing that is different is the story people tell themselves or hear from fields of so-called "experts" within the so-called field of "psychiatry." It's worth keeping in mind that Nazis forcibly castrated Jews, first. That was something they tried before the gas chambers. “
Here is what the WHO said about gender affirming care. Post#7
What is gender-affirming care?
Gender-affirming care, as defined by the World Health Organization, encompasses a range of social, psychological, behavioral, and medical interventions “designed to support and affirm an individual’s gender identity” when it conflicts with the gender they were assigned at birth. The interventions help transgender people align various aspects of their lives — emotional, interpersonal, and biological — with their gender identity. As noted by the American Psychiatric Association (APA), that identity can run anywhere along a continuum that includes man, woman, a combination of those, neither of those, and fluid. The interventions fall along a continuum as well, from counseling to changes in social expression to medications (such as hormone therapy). For children in particular, the timing of the interventions is based on several factors, including cognitive and physical development as well as parental consent. Surgery, including to reduce a person’s Adam’s Apple, or to align their chest or genitalia with their gender identity,is rarely provided to people under 18.
“The goal is not treatment, but to listen to the child and build understanding — to create an environment of safety in which emotions, questions, and concerns can be explored,” says Rafferty, lead author of a policy statement from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) on gender-affirming care.

What you are talking about is gender dysphoria.
Gender Dysphoria - Diagnosis and treatment.
Treatment
Treatment can help people who have gender dysphoria explore their gender identity and find the gender role that feels comfortable for them, easing distress. However, treatment should be individualized. What might help one person might not help another.
Treatment options might include changes in gender expression and role, hormone therapy, surgery, and behavioral therapy.
If you have gender dysphoria, seek help from a doctor who has expertise in the care of gender-diverse people.
When coming up with a treatment plan, your provider will screen you for mental health concerns that might need to be addressed, such as depression or anxiety. Failing to treat these concerns can make it more difficult to explore your gender identity and ease gender dysphoria.
Changes in gender expression and role
This might involve living part time or full time in another gender role that is consistent with your gender identity.
Medical treatment
Medical treatment of gender dysphoria might include:
Hormone therapy, such as feminizing hormone therapy or masculinizing hormone therapy
Surgery, such as feminizing surgery or masculinizing surgery to change the chest, external genitalia, internal genitalia, facial features and body contour
Some people use hormone therapy to seek maximum feminization or masculinization. Others might find relief from gender dysphoria by using hormones to minimize secondary sex characteristics, such as breasts and facial hair.
Treatments are based on your goals and an evaluation of the risks and benefits of medication use. Treatments may also be based on the presence of any other conditions and consideration of your social and economic issues. Many people also find that surgery is necessary to relieve their gender dysphoria.
The World Professional Association for Transgender Health provides the following criteria for hormonal and surgical treatment of gender dysphoria:
Persistent, well-documented gender dysphoria.
Capacity to make a fully informed decision and consent to treatment.
Legal age in a person's country or, if younger, following the standard of care for children and adolescents.
If significant medical or mental concerns are present, they must be reasonably well controlled.
Additional criteria apply to some surgical procedures.
A pre-treatment medical evaluation is done by a doctor with experience and expertise in transgender care before hormonal and surgical treatment of gender dysphoria. This can help rule out or address medical conditions that might affect these treatments This evaluation may include:
A personal and family medical history
A physical exam
Lab tests
Assessment of the need for age- and sex-appropriate screenings
Identification and management of tobacco use and drug and alcohol misuse
Testing for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, along with treatment, if necessary
Assessment of desire for fertility preservation and referral as needed for sperm, egg, embryo or ovarian tissue cryopreservation
Documentation of history of potentially harmful treatment approaches, such as unprescribed hormone use, industrial-strength silicone injections or self-surgeries

->@ShilaThat is not what Foucault is saying.Indeed Foucault and other post modernists believe that gender is a social construct. He would probably hate the idea of people getting surgery just because they perceive their unhappiness with gender as a result of having the wrong body. But he would also disagree with conservatives that gender is immutable and determined by our sex organs.
That is not what Foucault is saying. Foucault is talking about sexuality and not gender.
Definition of sexuality. : the quality or state of being sexual: a : the condition of having sex. b : sexual activity. c : expression of sexual receptivity ...
“Foucault discussed four sources of knowledge and power that have greatly contributed to the construct of sexuality.[10] One of these is the “hysterization of women’s bodies”. It has led us to view women as being highly sexual and as a source for medical knowledge about human reproduction.[11] The next source is the “pedagogization of children’s sex”, which sees children as highly sexual.[12] The heightened sexuality of children is held as something dangerous that needs to be monitored and controlled. Another source of knowledge and power is the “socialization of procreative behavior” which maintains reproduction as an important matter for society.[13] As a result, non-procreative sex is conceptualized as negative and nonproductive. The “psychiatrization of perverse pleasure” is a source of knowledge and power centering on identifying sexual illness.[14] This psychiatrization was done with the stated intent of controlling perversions, but in the study of sexual perversions Foucault argued that the power and pleasure dynamic actually contributes to a higher desire for and higher frequency of sexual perversions.[15] The results of “psychiatrization of perverse pleasure” also illustrate how the multiplicity of relationships contributes to the construct of sexuality.”

@Tarik
--> @TarikWhat do you think my original statement was?Double_R replied: That morality can only make sense of it is objective. So first of all, you have yet to explain why god is objectively, the moral standard.I did that already and all you did was reject my reasoning with no explanation as to whyA logically invalid explanation is not an explanation, and I’ve explained why it is invalid multiple times.Once again, might =/= right. Your argument hinges on the idea that if we don’t obey God’s moral code we will be sent to hell, but the “objective result” of going to hell is irrelevant to the question of whether said repercussions are moral. This is the exact same thing as arguing that something is wrong because it’s illegal. In that example, according to your logic, the state would be the “objective standard” for morality. What He can do doesn’t and shouldn’t overrule what He will do, therefore it remains objective.Double_R replied: Whether his word can be overruled is irrelevant to the concept of objectivity.

--> @DanielleWonder if he was talking about a dead girl.
Watch the video. The person Biden’s talking about was in front of him and he recognized her.

--> @Best.Korealol, you’re deluded if you think that openly saying you’re a pedophile is going to invite positive responses.
At least he is being honest. Hear him out.

Yes! I was a sexually confused closet case with depression! Once I left Catholic school and my Catholic family to go to college where my sexuality was embraced and not condemned, I became happier and healthier than ever before. Crazy, right?
What were you sexually confused about? What was your closet case? What are you now after you came out of the closer? What implants and body augmentation have you undergone?

@ahiyah
--> @LemmingBut if you meant the torture and death they at times receive from other prisoners being justified, I'd disagree.I wouldn’t torture or murder any myself if I was in prison, but I can understand why other people would. I certainly do think that general mistreatment and social exclusion is justified.I would say that if there is a pedophile who is going to be let free and is likely to commit harmful acts on children again, it would probably be better for someone like that to not exist.Them getting murdered by other inmates would be less problematic to me than the possibility of another child being subject to harm because they can’t control themselves.
The jail sentencing is up to 10 years for a pedophile for every child abused. That is enough time in prison to get treated for his perversion.

@Public-Choice
--> @ComputerNerdYour profile says you're a Christian. If you want to debate someone who will change the way you think, challenge Bones or rayhan16. Bones is a disbeliever, and rayhan is a Muslim. Would be pretty interesting to see.Well it all comes down to the topic. I, personally, believe the Bible cannot be disproven. I have studied this thoroughly. I even had bouts with atheism at one point. I later realized I was wrong.
I noticed you don’t post in the Religion Forum. The Bible is being disproven by biblical scholars. They don’t need help from Atheists.

--> @ShilaYes, but people should always ask themselves "what does child really want?".This is the simple way in which one can understand consent.I am not claiming to be some parenting guide expert. However, the current system of raising children is very questionable.
A child is consider a minor and cannot give consent for most things until it reaches age 18.
Eg drinking age 21, driving age 16, age of consent for sex is 16, voting age 17.

My family in Tampa has evacuated which I think is fine. If they choose to live in fear of wind and rain, that's their prerogative. However I'm outraged that Florida politicians have issued evacuation ORDERS. Police officers are now going door to door in Pinellas County to make sure that people have left the area. This is the gestapo 2.0 and everyone should be terrified. Since when is the government allowed to tell people what to do like this? This is a brand new phenomenon that just started in the year 2020.First the police state mandated that everyone stay at home. Now they're demanding that everyone leave! Florida Senator Rick Scott said, "If you're told to evacuate, evacuate now. Not tomorrow. Evacuate right now." Excuse me Mr. Scott but I'm pretty sure Florida values people's freedom so he can kindly shut the fuck up and mind his own business. The fear mongering by politicians and the media has been a joke. All week long Hurricane Ian has been dominating the national news - proof the media is just trying to scare as many people as possible even if they're not in any alleged danger. They'll literally say anything for views. Not to mention stores across Florida have been completely wiped out. There are shortages and price gouging. Profits are soaring. I mean if you can't see this so called "hurricane" is completely made up to enrich business owners then I don't know what to tell you.I heard another Florida politician on the news tell people to keep checking for updates from scientistsand government officials. He actually said that! He really believes people are going to follow the instructions of the biggest groups of liars on the planet.Scientists can't be trusted and least of all meteorologists. The entire field is bought by the climate change industry looking to profit off the alleged global warming. It's well documented that meteorologists get it wrong a good amount of the time, so why is anyone listening to them? This tyranny with forced closures is not only hurting small businesses, but KIDS ARE BEING KEPT OUT OF SCHOOL. We all know that US schools are top notch beacons of education, but my cousin has to have class on Zoom today. This is an absolute travesty. Is this what Florida voters cast their ballot for in the last election? Kids being kept home? All of this follows a playbook as old as time and Ron DeSantis is complicit. Mark my words if the "hurricane" comes he will be going to the feds with his hands out looking for relief money. Joe Biden who is singlehandedly responsible for inflation better not cozy up to Ron and expect anyone to give Florida a penny for this little sun shower that's being blown way out of proportion. I know that some people in FL might be at risk, but honestly if people are so worried about hurricanes they should learn how to swim, buy a boat or leave the area; not close schools, keep people away from their homes and jobs or add to our national debt. What a disgrace.
DeSantis is listening to the experts Hurricane IAN is going to be a lot worse than earlier predicted.
IAN is slow moving a CAT 4 Hurricane close to CAT 5.
DeSantis will need billions to repair Florida after the disaster ends. He needs Biden.
