I think it’s common for young children to see the Bible as a story book and to have a childish understanding of God as an invisible man in the sky that grants wishes to those who pray. Of course, as children age and mature their conception of God and their understanding of faith develops and matures beyond such childish ways of understanding things.
Jesus spoke about god at a very young age. His views did not evolve over time. Jesus even believed This childish god was his father.
The Boy Jesus at the Temple
Luke 2:41 Every year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the Festival of the Passover. 42 When he was twelve years old, they went up to the festival, according to the custom. 43 After the festival was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it. 44 Thinking he was in their company, they traveled on for a day. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends. 45 When they did not find him, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him. 46 After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. 47 Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers. 48 When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.”
49 “Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”[a] 50 But they did not understand what he was saying to them.
51 Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart. 52 And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.

I’m sorry, but this type of Atheism just doesn’t appear to be all that grown up to me, and clinging to such childish ideas about God and faith isn’t what I’d call “deep”.
Are you calling Jesus an atheist?

-> @zedvictor4Hi Stephen.I would contend that man polluting his environment is a natural occurrence. That is a reasonable observance, Vic lad.The difference is that man can avert the pollution he is creating but he cannot do anything about what the position of the planets and other heavenly bodies have on the earth in relation to the devastating effect they have.
If the surrounding planets and heavenly bodies have such an adverse effect on earth why is earth the only planet that sustains life?
I am sure I do not have to explain to you these effects and what causes them. The educated ancient priests understood perfectly well what was happening when these natural disasters occurred, they just didn't explain them to the ignorant, illiterate superstitious masses of the time but instead used them for their advantage.According to the elite educated parasitic priests, the ignorant superstitious population had angered god and were now being punished. What was required to quell gods anger was usually more donations in one form or another. You see, it was all man's fault he'd brought it all on himself through his behaviour.Of course, today these parasitic priests wouldn't dream of getting away with claiming that a natural devastating disaster was sent from God.In this new age we have new "gods" better known as corporations. Governments are their priests that come with new age reasons for the causes of the natural disasters we are experiencing today, but ultimately it will still come down to man and his behaviour and we now have to pay for it- pollution tax being one of them. The gods will have their pound of flesh in one form or another. I am sure you get my meaning, Vic lad. This is nothing new, it has happened many times, and before even Jesus' time too. Jesus knew about it. He was an educated priest and had been taught "the secrets of heaven". This is why he was capable of telling his close circle what happens at the end of every age.Matthew 24:3-7 “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” Jesus replied:Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places, etc etc
Didn’t Jesus know it was God that destroyed all life on earth with a flood and not the famines and earthquakes in various places, etc.
Revelation is, well, revealing too. Especially when it speaks of inflation and a loaf of bread costing a day's wages- at the end of the age.“A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius". Outrageous if you ask me Vic, lad. Especially the barley part. That is used in making beer . How much has your beer gone up lately?Outrageous inflation in other words.
In Revelation 6:6, the writer states that he hears four living creatures saying a quart of wheat costs a whole day's wages. Out of a quart of wheat, you can make a loaf of bread. In the near future, the way inflation keeps going up, a loaf of bread could cost $200 or a whole day's wages.
That hasn't happened yet. The author must have invested heavily in bread stocks.
No, there is a lot to be said about this ancient book of which one idiot pastor here once said, "is only a book that is full of words that mean nothing".
That is why the pastor was called an idiot. He should have got a translated version of the Bible in the language he spoke.
How's Mrs Vic doing these days? All good, I hope. Give her my best wishes.
So you saved your best wished for Mrs. Vic.

I am here to read the arguments and verify if Atheists are indeed hypocrites.
Well, we are into 326 pages of argument now. So are you ready to deliver you verdict?

Exactly so to tie this back to our discussion a fact is something that can be proven, so for arguments sake if love is what gets you into heaven then that’s the proof in the pudding.
If love gets you into heaven why is the proof in the pudding? Shouldn’t heaven be the proof?

--> @badgerPolytheist-Witch: That's because we are 50 individual countries even though people call US states. We basically in general want the federal government not to intrude upon things that have nothing to do with the federal government. And college is one of those things. The government is free at this point to give out whatever grants they want to people to work around this. I personally don't think you should get more than 2 years after high school pay for. Which means colleges should really streamline exactly what people need when they go to college and trade school would be paid for. If you want the type of job that takes more than 2 years of college then you should pay for it at that point. I don't think the government should be paying for anybody to go through 6-8 years of school for a lawyer or a doctor or a veterinarian or any of those other jobs that require that. And part of the reason for that is college students fuck off constantly.
Think of the higher taxes the better college educated will be paying versus the taxes minimum wage earners pay because they lack a college education.
A smaller percentage will quit college if it is free. That’s a win win for all.

They were portrayed as serial killers.
You said it your self, “I said that the language used to attack them was of a kind normally reserved for serial killers.”
They were in the country when the Queen died and will remain here until after the funeral.
Harry was the last to arrive at Balmoral and first to leave for London the next day. They cannot associate the Queens death with Harry.
So far Charles seems to be doing a good job and from the reaction of the crowds he appears to be well liked.
Wait till Australia, Scotland and the Caribbean islands break away ties from the monarchy after queen's death.

--> @ShilaMy point is I do not share your "wonder" about Trump. And you still did not answer the question I asked.
You had 2 questions.
1. What part of Schiff's speech do you disagree with?
2. Did you hear him say the word Trump?
My response addresses both questions.
A1. America has the advantage of being the largest economy in the world. The feds can stimulate the economy by simply printing money. The Dollar is the worlds reserve currency.
But the American consumer eventually pays for everything as the economy swings from inflation to recession to depression to boom or bust.
A2. Peter Schiff did not mention a Trump because his lecture was about fixing the economy. Trump is a good example about going bankrupt.

Nixon didn’t do too well in taped recordings. He resigned once they were discovered.
--> @ShilaAgreed, but that history doesn't reflect much on the quality of a portrait painting. Bill Cosby's jokes didn't suddenly stop being funny just because we found out he was a rapist.
It was funny reading the list of white women he raped (60). The preferred to be drugged while a black man raped them. So he did stop being funny after the women found out he was a rapist. That they were not alone.

The present extinction event is unique because the changes that the earth is experiencing, such as rising water levels and temperatures, are the result of human activity.
BULLSHITE! You are falling for that old government chestnut of man-made climate change that they have purposefully conflated with man polluting his environment. And thicko's like yourself have fallen for it.Didn't you learn fk all at school concerning the movement of the earth around the sun? Here are some clues. The earth has an apogee and an apogee. On every completed cycle the earth retards 1arc degree = 1 arc second. Now off you go and work the rest out for yourself.
Climate Change and global warming caused by human activity.
Perigean and Apogean Tides effects are minimal.
The greatest difference between high and low tide is around Full Moon and New Moon, known as spring tides or king tides. During these Moon phases, the gravitational forces of the Moon and the Sun combine to pull the ocean’s water in the same direction.
Perigean spring tides have around 5 cm (2 inches) larger variation than regular spring tides, while apogean spring tides have around 5 cm (2 inches) smaller variation than normal spring tides.
Taking pictures of the Moon
Natural Disaster Trigger?
Although the Sun and the Moon’s alignment cause a small increase in tectonic activity, the effects of the Supermoon on Earth are minor. Many scientists have conducted studies and haven’t found anything significant that can link the Super Moon to natural disasters.
According to NASA, the combination of the Moon being at its closest and at Full Moon, should not affect the internal energy balance of the Earth since there are lunar tides every day.

@Public-Choice
-> @ShilaJob is a pretty scientific book. You should read it sometime. Also, the premise is "God created the world."Considering the crapshoot that is Evolution and the fact that many scientists are abandoning it in favor of a multiverse theory that is based on pure wishful thinking and not raw empiricism or even epistemic logic of some sort shows that there is just one premise that holds true.Something created us.Now, that something came down 2,000 years ago, walked among us, did miracles among us, fed us, taught us, and died and rose again for us.People literally walked and talked with God and decided to kill him. Just shows how pigheaded we humans really can be. Jesus never did anything that deserved death. In fact, he even defended the temple when people were trying to use it to line their pockets with money by taking advantage of people, something many Athiests wish Christians today would do with some televangelists. Now fast forward to today, and this God is still performing miracles, raising the dead, and appearing to people. And others are seeing Him in their after-death experiences. So yeah. The Bible is the only book that makes an iota of sense given the facts.
Just the thought God /Jesus was put away by the Romans with a simple crucifixion when it took the armies of the world to unite together to take Hitler down. Gives us a sense of awe at the 6 million Jews Hitler sacrificed to being salvation to the world. Why aren’t we praying to Hitler if we believe dead Jews can offer forgiveness like Jesus did?

--> @RamshutuThe DOD has a medical standard for new recruits, and for retention.Gender Identity Disorder (aka Gender Dysphoria) was on the exclusionary list. Same as schizophrenia. Social anxiety disorder. Manic Depressive Disorder. Suicidal Ideation. So on and so forth.Transgenders are diagnosed with Gender Dysphoria with often to always accompanied by depression, anxiety, and oft suicidal ideation. They require constant medication of various sorts to be functional at a somewhat normal level. Surgeries will require significant downtime. All these things preclude transgenders from serving under the medical standards for recruits and retention. At least they did, until liberals forced PC tolerance upon the Armed Forces, using that security force as a social experiment to destroy the very structure of that security force. They are combat ineffective. They are not deployable when under surgical treatment and recovery. They require constant medication and hormones to even keep them functional. Why must 95% of the normal population be forced to bend over backwards for 0.5-8% of the population!?! What ever happened to majority rules!?!
After considering the many wars America had to withdraw from in disgrace. Vietnam, N Korea, Cuba, Afghanistan, Iraq etc. transgender recruits is a welcome and necessary addition to boost the morale of the troops.
With Trump raising military spending to 780 billion. And American troops out of most countries. The cost of surgical treatment required for transgenders will not hurt the military as it builds a military that reflects the American people made up of gay, LGBT, etc. all included.

How many Emperor penguins do you think will suffer the same fate?
There have been five great extinctions throughout the history of the world. Many experts argue that we are now facing a sixth. These periods of mass extinctionhave resulted in the loss of 98 percent of all organisms that have ever existed on planet earth. In order for an event to be considered a mass extinction, around 75 percent of the earth’s species need to go extinct over about 2.8 million years.
Past mass extinctions have been due to one-off events such as a volcanic eruption or an asteroid impact or caused by phenomena such as rising sea levels or drastically shifting atmospheric temperatures. The present extinction event is unique because the changes that the earth is experiencing, such as rising water levels and temperatures, are the result of human activity.

May she rest in peace. That woman wasn't just the Queen of the UK. She was a relic from an older time. Not an actual veteran, but somebody who partook in the civic struggle against Nazi aggression during WWII. Somebody who, frankly, by all reason shouldn't have still been around in 2022.A pointless legacy institution was given a face that people know and love. I suspect that because of her, the British monarchy will last longer than it otherwise would've. And so will the essence of what makes Britain British.
Australia's new government is seeking to remove the Queen as its head of state after being bound to Great Britain for over 200 years.
Officials in at least six countries in the Caribbean where Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II is head of state have signaled they intend to remove the monarch as their sovereign. These countries follow Barbados, which removed the queen as its head of state to become the region’s newest republic in November 2021.
A Scottish republic, with an elected head of state 69% · Maintain the Queen, but remove the monarchy when her reign ends

It is not hard to see whites as racist. They picked skin colour to identify race and made it an subject of discrimination based on us and them.
Blacks took notice of whites using melanin as a standard to measure superiority of races where less was seen as more and albino whites at the top.
Asians saw themselves as neutral having focused on education, family and accumulation of wealth.
With the introduction of skin whiteners the whites have less to be racist about and the blacks have turned to other white attributes to criticize.
This has created the perception that blacks are more racist because they are highly critical of white superficiality and the whites are less albino white than desired despite using skin whiteners to reduce melanins.

The Persistent Problem of Colorism: Skin Tone, Status, and Inequality
Margaret Hunter*
Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Mills College
Colorism is a persistent problem for people of color in the USA. Colorism, or skin color stratification, is a process that privileges light-skinned people of color over dark in areas such as income, education, housing, and the marriage market. This essay describes the experiences of African Americans, Latinos, and Asian Americans with regard to skin color. Research demonstrates that light-skinned people have clear advantages in these areas, even when controlling for other background variables. However, dark-skinned people of color are typically regarded as more ethnically authentic or legitimate than light-skinned people. Colorism is directly related to the larger system of racism in the USA and around the world. The color complex is also exported around the globe, in part through US media images, and helps to sustain the multibillion-dollar skin bleaching and cosmetic surgery industries.

--> @TarikSeriously? Don’t act like there’s no common denominator between what you recently said and the “year old debate” that I brought back up, that referral was exactly that a reference/me simply addressing what you clearly have been ignoring. There is some crossover, that doesn't mean they are the same points and it certainly doesn't mean you refuted anything meaningful. Let's start by reposting my argument that you ignored a few pages ago:Let's recap. You claimed morality only makes sense if it's objective. I then asked you for an objective standard to which you replied "love". I then asserted "well being" as the standard for morality and challenged you to objectively resolve this difference. You have been tap dancing ever since. So let's just cut to the chase; there is no such thing as objective morality. You can have a moral system that objectively follows from the core standard, but the standard itself will always be chosen by the individual, making it necessarily subjective. If you claim God as your moral standard, I can easily reject God as the standard and as I already have, assert something else. At that point we have two different moral systems. There is no objective resolution to this, not even a god because if one does exist and weighed in on which is correct, the answer would then be *subject to* his will.First thing to notice here is that the part you zeroed in on so you could drop the rest if it was the very last line. Now if you actually read the post you would notice that the point was made in the first two paragraphs. The last paragraph was not necessary at all, it was just thrown in for emphasis and could have been done without the last sentence. But that's the part you want to talk about. And what do you want to discuss regarding this last sentence? A year old debate where you challenged my statement that "subject to" is "literally how you define subjective".Well, of you look up subjective in the dictionary does it use the words "subject to"? No, so I guess you win on that one. That's not how the word is *literally* defined, so, congratulations on the "gotcha"?For those of us who care about actual ideas however, the point of what I'm saying still stands. The *literal* definition of subjective is;"based mainly on opinions or feelings rather than on facts"In other words, it's based on what the individual says instead of what's actual. Which is another of saying, *subject to* a person's say so.This is pretty basic English. So now would you like to address what I've said and substantiate the idea that live is an objective standard for morality, or do you have any other year olds debates you would like to rehash?
You don’t seem to be getting anywhere despite having a definition for “Subjective”.

@Avery
Oh, you're right. I was reading the Harry Potter series and responding to that instead!I truly look foolish.I'll try to read your posts. Thanks for the sincere advice!

I was reading about Obama's new presidential portrait and started thinking again about my favorite Presidential portrait. Not surprisingly, most are sober paintings of stiff men. Sargent's portrait of Teddy Roosevelt has an interesting sparse, sepia, common-man quality. Kennedy's posthumous portrait is grim, nearly a political cartoon. But Norman Rockwell's Nixon is terrific. Nixon looks likes he's leaning forward to listen. He looks relaxed and confident and focused on the the viewer. No jingoistic claptrap or luxury in the background. No red white and blue. Just a man in front of you, listening. All presidential portraits should feel so democratic.
Nixon didn’t do too well in taped recordings. He resigned once they were discovered.

--> @ShilaWhen sadolite is out of food in the house, then goes to a restaurant, 'then goes to the store,Is this so that he doesn't buy unnecessary food, as people sometimes do when hungry,Or simply because he wants his hunger sated sooner, rather than later?
He goes to the restaurant first if he is hungry because the food is ready to be served whereas if he goes to the grocery store he still has to cook the vegetables and meat be bought.
But the grocery is good for the rest of the week.

--> @ShilaIf your first choice was bad why would anyone think your second choice should be considered?it only counts if there is no first round winnerjust like a "run-off" election
If you pick all four choices as the same (choice one). Then any which way you count is the winner will be choice one.

It is necessary to live in the shoes of the average citizen of any country before one can give an educated opinion of that country. You will find you may not like that country at all . I lived in Sweden for a short period, hated it.
Did you find out why they treated you so badly in Sweden?
--> @ShilaYour ignorance and condescension really shows.
Did you find out why they treated you so badly in Sweden? You said, “. I lived in Sweden for a short period, hated it.”
Again your condescension knows no bounds, or your reading comprehension is really really atrocious.

--> @ShilaNah fam. Look at my definitions again...Cult is "a religion regarded as unorthodox or spurious."Christianity is a religion. Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses are cults, because they are unorthodox and spurious forms of a religion. They have firmly held beliefs that are unorthodox and spurious.I, personally, believe the known universe points directly to God. The realms of philosophy, empiricism, rationalism, epistemic logic, all end up at God, because He created the universe.
The Bible gives little details about science behind creation. It doesn’t even meet the standards of a fourth grade science class.

--> @ShilaNew AD tells Trump supporters they are being scammed. At least Trump can talk properly. It’s a running
Biden was a senator for 36 years. He was Obamas Vice President for 8 years.
A LEADER IN THE SENATE
As a Senator from Delaware for 36 years, President Biden established himself as a leader in facing some of our nation’s most important domestic and international challenges. As Chairman or Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee for 16 years, Biden is widely recognized for his work writing and spearheading the Violence Against Women Act — the landmark legislation that strengthens penalties for violence against women, creates unprecedented resources for survivors of assault, and changes the national dialogue on domestic and sexual assault.
As Chairman or Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for 12 years, Biden played a pivotal role in shaping U.S. foreign policy. He was at the forefront of issues and legislation related to terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, post-Cold War Europe, the Middle East, Southwest Asia, and ending apartheid.
Trump filed 6 bankruptcies and is being investigated for tax fraud, was twice impeached in his first term as president. Trump is investigated for obstruction of Justice, the Jan 6 committee is investigating Trump’s role in the capitol building riots to overthrow the election results. Now he is investigated for stealing high security confidential material from the National Archives.
He might be the first president to go to jail as a criminal.

That was just an example of how an education can get you to high places.
And that example is no longer relevant because college today isn't the same as college back then.
Now with online courses offered college is more affordable than ever.
