Equity is the main problem here. Equity means equal outcomes. I am pretty sure the NBA would suck if it was equitable in its hiring practices instead of using meritocracy. Nobody is watching an 80% white NBA game because they know they aren't watching the best in the world.

If law really protected children, then it would be mandatory for all people to listen to child's wishes. But law doesnt make that mandatory, because law and people dont care about what the child wants.
