Yet another debt ceiling showdown
-->
@Double_R
Both. The only president with a budget surplus since 1982 has been Bill Clinton. The worst budget deficit was by Obama (I haven't seen the data updated for trump's last two years though). There is not a party trend for spending.

One way health care costs are regulated is by requiring people to purchase them. Otherwise the most liable people will be the ones buying health insurance, driving the cost up because health insurance companies will want to cover their losses.

God and empiricism
-->
@949havoc
How is faith a sense like touch, taste, or smell? It sound like faith is just your imagination, it's just the belief part of knowledge, and is not necessarily justified or true. Once you have knowledge, it replaces faith.

You said you know that the people in the bible had knowledge of god because of what James said. How does "because they James said so" mean James had knowledge of god?

Quantum mechanics and determinism

@Benjamin
At the most fundamental level however, it is truly random. Therefore the fundamental nature of the universe is randomness, even though we can predict the effects of macrophysical deterministic systems pretty accurately.

@949havoc
  Kant's theory is a deontological ethic, meaning that an action is moral if it is done because of a rule that prescribes it. He argued that reason legislates these rules a priori.

  There are a lot of ways to refute consequentialism. One major distinction Kant makes is between a thing that is good in itself, and a thing that is good as an instrument. The thing he identifies as good in itself is the good will, because it doesn't rely on the satisfaction of some preference in order to qualify it's goodness. The good will is to action, happiness, and talents, what a gemstone is to a ring, it has its full value in itself, and it's value isn't modified by it's setting. Acting from the motivation of duty to the moral law doesn't require the satisfaction of a consequence to qualify it's morality, it's good in itself.

  Therefore, morality is held in the motive for action. Kant makes a further distinction between the two kinds of motives: duty and inclination. All inclinations are arbitrary, which only leaves the motive of duty. Acting from ones duty to the moral law doesn't require the satisfaction of consequences in order to be moral.

I'm not trying to appeal to all ages. But the mods cant control who signs up. I'm just saying that if you made it so that if someone is younger than 13, it's on them for lying about it if any hot water comes up (which I'm betting it won't. I mean, nobody is going to get in trouble because a 12 yo lied to get on the site.)

What correlation? I'm suspecting a false analogy fallacy.

I did already answer that. And I'm not saying that it is only imaginary, just that you can't show it exists outside of your imagination. We know it is at least imaginary, but you can't elevate it past that with any fact, and so it, like a monster under the bed, is merely imaginary.

I never argued that god cannot exist. I invite you to demonstrate one fact that shows the universe had a creator. Otherwise it's all in your head.

You didn't have to for it be imaginary. I wasn't the first child to imagine a monster under my bed, it doesn't make it less imaginary

All Im saying is that imagination doesn't equal reality. Until you have a fact that indicates your concept is true, then it's just your imagination.

I know it is at least in your imagination. But you have nothing empirical to move the concept from your imagination into knowledge about reality. Therefore, I know it's your imagination.

Nah, it's just imaginary. There is nothing empirical about the concept of god to tie it to reality. All there is is a concept, the same as the concept of unicorns or leprechauns, but nothing empirical to indicate it isn't also imaginary.

@RationalMadman
In grepolis, the most important thing is to start or join a well organized alliance. Otherwise, once your city hits about 5k points (a city can get up to about 13k points), you'll get farmed by a bigger player. The difficulty isn't so much in building the city as it is in coordinating with your alliance to defend against attacks, or coordinate them, etc.

Nah man, most debates don't get commented on, and most get maybe one vote. That's why I vote bump my debates constantly to keep them on the front page so they actually get votes. Otherwise, it could slip right past.
