@Yassine
You know what you keep doing, you define murder as "good killing" to defend that murder is good. It must be obvious how circular that is. To avoid a debate about the fallacious nature of your statements, you need to provide a viable claim you can defend. What is this non-strawman theory? Please do tell us
  Nope, your analogy is false, because you are the one providing a false definition.

  What I'll defend is the actual theory that biological evolution is: the theory that biodiversity is caused by the change in inherited traits over successive generations in populations of organisms.

  Abiogenesis is not needed to explain how life diversifies once it's already here.

  Abiogenesis is a theory of how life arose, evolution is a theory of how life diversifies. I don't know how I can be any more clear.

It doesn't matter if you wish to include abiogenesis in your defense or not, it is necessarily entailed by the evolutionary theory. You're rejecting the conclusion, it's like saying "Harry is tallest & Oliver is shortest", then rejecting "Harry is taller than Oliver". That necessarily entails this.
  No, it's not entailed by evolution. As I have explained, evolution makes no claims about the origin of life, only the mechanisms of biodiversity. Your conflation is false and your analogy doesnt match the context or the claim.

  The only claim evolution makes is that biodiversity is caused by the change in inherited traits over successive generations in populations of organisms.

So, what is it exactly are you defending? You need to think things you say through.

The actual theory, and not your straw man representation of it.

I would be willing to debate you about abiogenesis too, but it's a different topic.

No, evolution only entails change in inherited traits in successive generations in populations of organisms. You're shoehorning in abiogenesis. The first cell could have been created by a god, and evolution would still take place.

I'm not sure I understand your point in the OP.

I'd argue that the state is a natural step in the evolution of society. Chimps establish sovereign borders. And we have included many nations in the UN, which is a solid step towards a unified humanity.

I would love to debate it, but yassine and I would have to agree on what evolution is, because I say that abiogenesis should not be included in the definition of evolution.

They aren't really committing acts of terror anymore, they just rally at the local lakes these days and wave around Confederate flags. I would call them and hate group, but not a terrorist group

Should reparations be provided for slavery?

Given the state of the American welfare system, immigration is only good for America economically anymore if it's illegal. Because once immigrants are legal they qualify for welfare programs, But if they stay illegal they have to work and support the economy.

It's not selfish to want to keep the money that I earned and invest the way I want. It's selfish for anyone to think that they're entitled to the products of my labor. You haven't explained why I should have to pay so the government can "fix" other people's communities, whatever that means. I can give that money to charities I approve of or buy from local downtown businesses. People in poor areas can be successful if they work hard and budget their money.

How many of you have come from a religious background?
Yes

And what was this background?

Christian

And what convinced you to become an atheist?
Every argument has some serious flaws.

Was it a journey or an epiphany?

Journey

Did it cause problems with your family or partner at the time?
Family.

And are you still connected somehow with the people from your old religious affiliation?
Familial.

Debating always was, is and will be a defunct thing to be brilliant at.
-->
@RationalMadman
  I don't think I'm toxic. I've calmed down a LOT since I first found my passion for debate. I used to be toxic. I used to throw insults into my arguments for the flare and such. I still feel that strong impulse when someone is rude in a debate to be equally or more rude back, but I can restrain myself now.

  I can totally relate to my overcombativeness pushing people away. Especially at my job. Everyone there is super conservative, and while I enjoy a spirited discussion, people's passions flare too intensely to have a real conversation most of the time about politics and religion, so I bite my tongue, pick my battles, and try to think my arguments all the way through instead of just throwing myself into the fray and winging it.

Honest opinions about religion

There's an infinite number of things we can imagine. Good ideas are those that Concord with reality and have a way to separate those imaginary things from those things that exist in reality.

I don't see a way to divorce religious ideas from dogma. Dogma is a bad idea because it can't change.

Communism or Capitalism?
-->
@badger
  You cant just act like the cause of the overexploitation doesn't matter. It's totally reasonable to ask what caused a resource to be overexploited. If the cause was a consequence of it being communal, rather than it being privatized, then that is a useful distinction.

It's a differentiation between overexploitation as a result of being communal vs as a result of being privately owned. They are fundamentally different.

The fundamental difference is that in the tragedy of the commons, overexploitation comes as a direct result of it being a communal resource, so that's not a knock on capitalism.

So my bad, I should have said you're labeling the overexploitation of a communal resource as a shortcoming of capitalism, but that's a fundamentally communist aspect of the system.

  Communism means any old bloke can come along and use your (now the communes) tractor, run it out of gas, and leave it there because that's someone else's responsibility.

  Unbridled capitalism destroys the family by forcing, of economic necessity, young boys to work in shitty Victorian factories for back to back 12 hour shifts.

  In the end, capitalism needs to be reigned in and communism suffers from the tragedy of the commons.

@Yassine
Abiogenesis is a separate theory from biological evolution. Abiogenesis is the theory that life arose from non life. Evolutionary theory is the theory that biodiversity is caused by the changing in inherited traits in successive generations in populations of organisms. Therefore, you have to already have organisms in order for evolution to take place. It makes no claims as to how that life got here. You're falsly conflating two separate theories into one and claiming that that is the definition of biological evolution. I'm not here to argue abiogenesis, but instead, biological evolution.

Evolution =/= Abiogenesis

Who's in for some fun challenges?
-->
@Yassine
My man, you can message me before declining and I can modify the details before you accept.
This is not Darwinian evolution. My grandma had ginger hair, I have black hair. The definition begs the question... Evolutionists always put their claim in the definition, as if these are deductive truths. Not even the most serious theories in physics dare do this. To avoid this nonsense, we must set up a new rule: + No definition which assumes naturalism materialism or neo-Darwinism is allowed. Claims are assumed from founded merit, not truistic definitions.

- The argument is about the Theory of Evolution, which states: Life emerged from spontaneous & compounded chemical reactions, to produce a self-sustaining & self-reproducing single-cell organism, capable of gradual changes in inherited traits over successive generations in populations of organisms of increasing complexity, to form all biodiversity on Earth through descent of varying species from a common ancestor via natural selection & random mutations.
  Evolution only deals with life after it's already been here, so your proposed definition falsly conflates evolution and abiogenesis, which are different theories. Your definition is about abiogenesis, not evolution.

  My definition is the standard definition of biological evolution. The theory has been improved a lot since Darwin's time since the discovery of other mechanisms of evolution that aren't natural selection, therefore I'm not going to argue just for evolution by natural selection, and I'd like some flexibility with the evidence I can bring to the table.
