@Lunatic
Your read and ultimate reason for voting SA seems heavily based on some link between your roles indication of the theme. I hope you understand that this will be brought up again if SA is lynched and flips town, because I am assuming whatever it is that's in your PM must be pretty damning to justify lynching him for his claim over behavior, and a scummier AROSE.

It's a combination of everything, and ultimately that he's the best lynch target this late into DP1. I've read Arose's posts and I really don't see the scummyness you are seeing. I actually grant him some credit for locking in his character so early.

I think there's some validity to what I'm arguing regarding the character affiliation point, but it's not that damning. If SA flips town I'll have to role claim and the link may seem pretty weak, but the combination of everything else still makes it the strongest target we have, and I don't think we are getting a new and better target now, at the 11th hour of the DP. I've made my points about SA as the target and I've pointed out areas in which I'm reluctant and where there are flaws, but I'm locked in now. There's a strong possibility that I'm wrong, but that's how DP1 goes, and I'd rather err to that side than no lynch.

@PressF4Respect
Are you a miller?

I'm reluctant to say anything really since role claiming and even implication is risky at this point, but being probed for being miller and then being vague about it is scummy as hell. So no, I am not miller, I will most certainly come up innocent upon investigation.

Ultimately I'm concluding that SA is the best lynch target this DP, not that I have any certainly of it, nor that any of my arguments for it are particularly solid.

I don't know if pressuring someone over an assumed thematic element is the correct choice

I agree, and typically I would say it's not a good idea to analyze in this way, but I'm narrowing down the best choices and my gut is telling me SA.

s the distinction in your role PM vague, or pretty blunt about the anti-scranton thing?
It makes sense for my character, but it does not at all imply anything to do with a possible scranton/non scranton theme for the game.... I'm drawing the conclusion that my character's role is X, and therefore others in a similar place in the office universe may therefore be scum. it's a loose reasoning for sure.

Also your character is anti scranton too I thought since he works with corporate?
Right, this is the point, and therefore my role - which happens to be town... but everyone else may therefore be scum. I am possibly the one exception and therefore my role. On the other hand I could be entirely wrong about this, but its the best I have to go on right now.

I'm not going to be very active tomorrow, and by the time I get back from work the DP will probably be over so I want to be sure to go with what I think is best while I still have time. If in my further analysis of the DP tonight I reconsider, I will be sure to change my vote accordingly. But for now I feel like SA is our best bet.

I might be able to help town a little though by letting them know possible scum characters in this thematic alignment:

Off the top of my head the following all work for corporate:

Jan Levinson
David Wallace
Robert California
Charles Miner

Ryan was an intern at scranton and then eventually worked for corporate - so that might be scummy
Toby works for scranton as corporate HR - which is scummy I admit, but I'm town, and my role makes sense in the alignment I'm assuming

So if anyone in the town is any of the 4 characters above and wants to let us know that this alignment isn't accurate go ahead. However I'd caution that if any of the above 4 characters are town, they seem likely to be power roles.

Arose was the first to lock down a claim of any kind, this tends to be a towny action... although the claim itself (Ryan) leads me to some concern, which I'll detail later in this post. I'll have to take Lunatic's word for it that his behavior is more scummy than usual since I have no perspective on it, and so Arose could be considered a target for the future.

I believe there is an inherent risk is getting too bogged down in thematic affiliation analysis, but Drafter's hunch on a Scranton Vs. others dynamic has stuck with me today for some reason, and I believe it has some merit. This might seem counter intuitive due to my character, but bear with me.

I feel like my role may confirm the inherent scummyness of the 'non-scranton' side. I'd rather not role claim at the moment, though please don't put me at L-1. This does FOS Arose (Ryan) to some extent, though I feel like we should explore that further later. It also puts in question any other non-scranton character of which we don't have any aside from me (though really I am ultimately a Scranton character, hence why I'm town), something mafia have conveniently avoided claiming as far as I can tell. This leads me to feel like AJ, an obscure non-scranton character is probably scum, and at this point a combination of behavior and claim should lead to his lynch.

The behavior aspect of SA is harder for me to justify, since I haven't played with him and much of his play can be attributed to being new. I feel like the immediate role claim though is scummy (and conveniently vanilla), and then it took awhile to get what we should have gotten already in the character claim.

Lunatic's efforts read town to me
Drafter always comes off as town to me so take with a grain of salt the fact that I read him, who is acting as a quality scum hunter at the moment, as town so far.
Supa posts a lot of stuff that doesn't read either way. If I didn't know his playstyle I'd read it as scummy, but for now I'm null on him.
I have no reads to expand upon at the moment on anyone else.

I believe SirAnonymous is our best bet this DP, and so I am going to vote for his lynch.

Did Airmax specifically wake up at 4 am to play this thinking he could dodge interactions with me. Dude WHEN I am not sleeping 15 hours a day, I sleep 3 hours a day. Try next week.

haha why would I want to avoid interactions with you?

I don't know. Everything SA says sounds like it is from a robot, which has always been a scummy thing in my experience. Like he is forcing his interactions.  Hard to describe, but I know it when I see it. Just like with what "vulgar material" is

Fair enough, though some of his play appears pretty genuine to me as someone unsure, but trying, which is why I'm having a hard time reading into his behavior.

I feel like the case against SIrAnon is too circumstantial. He seems like a somewhat knowledgeable player that made a couple of noob slips that could be interpreted as townish or scummy... So the obscure claim is the only thing that I believe has any validity, and that gets us into risky territory. I don't want a mass character claim, or any more claims at this point... but can anyone else in the town indicate as to whether or not they have as obscure of a character?

Airmax1227 - inactivity and random character claim. Don’t really like the latter since it was unnecessary (weakest scum read however do to soft claim)

The inactivity claim is valid (though it's certainly consistent with my playstyle for DP1 as town), though the character claim was not random. Oromagi vtl'd me for a claim (post #85), and so I claimed. It also wasn't unnecessary. DP1 tends to manifest somewhat randomly in terms of who gets pressured, and therefore claims, but it is important that we get some information. At the point I claimed, we had only three character claims, and I felt another character claim could only benefit town without being harmful at all (and now we have a claimed character pool that gives us some analysis)... I specifically did not role claim, as that would have been unnecessary.

@drafterman
I have a hunch it's pro-Mike/anti-Mike meaning characters like AJ and Toby are Scum claims. SA's flip will feed into that.
Naturally I'm inclined to disagree, but I do appreciate the suggestion for mafia/town theme alignment. I'm not sure how pro and anti Mike could ultimately be justified either though... Jim comes off as the shows realist most of the time, and that puts him at odds with Mike a lot. This could be viewed as anti-Mike, and the same could be said for at least Pam, Angela and Oscar. You may mean characters that Mike is pro/anti towards and then certainly AJ and Toby would be scum. However, as I am town, I'm certain this isn't the theme, since Mike hates Toby more than anyone else... I'd say Charles Minor would be a likely third mafia in that dynamic, but I digress. Nonetheless any flip should provide useful information.

We don't have any indication yet of character affiliation, but of the 5 character claims, 4 are major characters (Dwight, Jim, Toby, Ryan) with the only claim of AJ being obscure. Unless this was an avoidance of a power role character claim like Michael, this comes off as scummy. Even if it was motivated to avoid a power role assumption, the LAL discussion could be prudent in this case too.

The Dwight-Cop role makes sense, and in a game without role justifications, I can easily justify it myself. The character claim seems legitimate since it would be an easy CC, and cop fits the character well. I have no idea what PressF is thinking in claiming a power role on DP1, but I'm not sure if a lot of things in this game are a result of noob play, weird gambits, new meta, and legitimate quality play. I can more easily understand how town make this move under any circumstance, than if it were mafia, so while I'm not sure what PressF is doing, I'm inclined to believe he is town.

I read the Speed (eventual) Non-CC as pro town. Speed provided the town with his reaction to give some indication, without providing too much information. We'll see how this plays out since I don't want to over analyze it here, but I view that type of behavior as townish.

Still catching up on the dp....

@Lunatic
The mod said this "Roles may or may not be related to characters."

I am sure there is some thematic element, but that qoute makes me not wanna look to into it. Also the type of show this is, seems like it would be pretty hard to say which character is a power role or not given that all characters are wierdo non powerful humans in an office setting.

Some could be pretty random, but Dwight as cop and my character's role make sense, so I'm inclined to believe there is some logical justification - even if it isn't explicitly explained in role PMs. The power role dynamic should also be fairly logical regardless of the setting (like Michael, Jan, California etc)

Also warren seems the type of mod who cares about balance more than thematic relevancy. I had to do the same in my Dark Crystal game. Some characters who arguably deserved more of a power role, "Deet" for example, were vanillas for the sake of balance. However I still had some characters with thematic roles. Character claims will still be useful for CC's, etc. But I wouldn't focus to hard on role justifications.
This is a valid point and I don't know Warren's mod style, so it is probably best not to get too hung up on this... Still, overtly obscure character claims like Sir's make me nervous....

@oromagi
It's good to be playing in another mafia game after so long...

My character is Toby Flenderson... I'm not gona role claim since it wouldn't be prudent at this juncture... I win with the town

Reading through the DP there isn't a whole lot of behavior that sticks out to me as particularly scummy or townish, aside from the "A.J." claim from SirAnonymous. The obscurity red flag is worth keeping in mind as we get more character claims.

You may not have heard yet, and I don't know if there is an appropriate way or place to let you know... but I think you would want to know...

I actually heard about this a couple days ago... I was shocked and went through that entire day of constantly being drawn back into thinking about it in depth. It's actually the reason I finally decided to make an account here. A year ago my girlfriend made an account here since she felt engaging in another forum like this would be good for me for whatever reason, but I declined. When I heard about Blade I felt that it would be nice to get back in touch with old friends since you really never know when you'll lose that opportunity. So here I am... It's good to see ya again man, its been awhile.

@ResurgetExFavilla
It was quite the tragic affair, really. Overwhelmed by filial love, a certain user campaigned to get RM inducted into the Hall of Fame, while another campaigned to have the efforts of young Supadudz recognized. Doing so was forbidden, however, and both users were banned. There was also a travesty involving one of the site's oldest African American users being banned under suspicious circumstances

Ah ok, so DDO style voting drama and shenanigans... not too hard to believe, gotcha

Can someone give me the gist of RM's theory with some context behind it? It sounds like something recently happened with voting and such (perhaps I played a role in manipulating this vote?), but at this point I have to admit I'm just really confused

You think you are making me look dumb, but you are only accentuating my brilliance.
I'm honestly not trying to make you look dumb, I believe your theory is very interesting and I'd like to subscribe to your newsletter (Or whatever the kids call it these days, is it twitter?).

In fact, take note that Thett3 and REF both voted Mike and didn't get banned. Wylted did not. Banned. Spacetime did not. Banned. Hammer clearly betrayed and only voted Supa... 30 days banned.
I'm a bit out of my element here since I'm not sure what we are talking about... Did a guy named Hammer really get ban hammered?

Sometimes patterns are more telling than anything else.
I happen to agree, I'm just not sure what the pattern here is.

I voted Mike by overturning from Ramshutu, Thett perhaps rewards me with a vote. Virtuoso tries to overturn it to Supa, they ounish him by making it so Supa is the threat to his victory and Mike is safe. Virruoso is blackmailed to expose the Discord Coordination of votes in order to defend his title. Supadudz was a pawn to them. I was a shockingly powerful contender but one Max learned to work around instwad of directly against. I know it now and I played it very well. Fuck yes.
Seriously, I have no idea what we are talking about at this point, so I'm at a bit of a disadvantage here...

Airmax or YYW were my prime suspects for who Mike really is, perhaps it was a triple layered conspiracy where they planned to get Debateart.com to win. Time will tell.

Do not underestimate Airmax, he is one of the most intelligent and cunning strategists of DDO history.

This thread was made exactly a year ago today:

Is that just a coincidence that I joined the site exactly a year later from the theory... perhaps, or perhaps not... perhaps we shall never know the answers to these mysteries
