How Deluded Are Christians?

@Mharman
I could go on but I think I have verified that your opinions are delusions.
His "verification" is his simply saying your opinion I'd delusion.

He isn't even aware that the bible does not give an age of the earth, or that everything was created as is, or that Heaven is locate within the universe, but he "knows" there is no God.

Quick Mharman, get him to SAY you are a millionaire and be rich!

You dishonestly tried to make it Jesus's version of Heaven. Words mean things.

@Seth
No one has made an excuse for why prayers don't work. We are saying silly nonscientific experiments don't work. They cannot be used to debunk OR prove prayer.

And if prayers don't work, why would you want to test it? Hmmm? Irrational bias much?

Whether prayers work or not, a sloppy experiment not following scientific methodology will tell you nothing.

Experiments work  because scientists strictly follow scientific methodology, not because they really, really hate religion.

None of you know what the scientific method is, and other than an education, there is no remedy for that.

Imagine, just because a board on the forum is dedicated to a common interest, that is offensive to someone.

Is anyone upset that the game forum has only gamers? Or that the politics forum has people who want to talk politics? Why is it a problem if the religion forum has a majority of religious people?

Irrational bias maybe?

The point of each forum is evident in its name. If you don't care for Current Events for example, go to another board. But the purpose of the current events board is for people interested in current events. Same for every board.

Is it the religion boards fault that it gets atheists whose only interest is to attack and demean theists obsessively? Are Jews similarly at fault because anti-semites seem to follow them around?

I'm sick of the self-righteous members who think they are better or smarter than theists on the religion board. It is funny because it is atheists who stink up the religion board.

Why the hell are you on the board if you aren't religious? If you don't believe God exists, how many times are you going to come there and tell us?

Circle jerk? What do you call the technology board? How stupid. People on the board, doing exactly what the board was created for, you call a circle jerk.

What are theists on a religion board supposed to discuss Poindexter?

It is your low self-esteem that leads you to pretend the religion board is worse than any other and that you are somehow better. Putting the religion board down does nothing for your status.

My hat off to the mods who have steadily gotten rid of the riff-raff on the religion board. And notice, every one of them have been atheists.

Neither of you buttaching here can hold a candle to Athias, or Rosends, Or PGA2.0, or EtrnlVw. Away with all of you pretentious, self-important pretenders.

Why do you get away with abusing other posters when others don't?

...fixating on any one user in such unhealthy ways will not be tolerated.
While I greatly enjoy trolls becoming obsessive about me, I really have no clue how I'm able to get them so insane.

Hari is still obsessing about me to a dead board, and a new guy here (will not be named) already seems to be developing an unhealthy crush on me. If I knew exactly what it was I do that unhinges them, I'd do it more.

I have people following me to different sites babbling about some offense or other, some of them doing so for years!

Perhaps its people already unstable, but even so, why fixate on me so irrationally?

I have a theory about why this is, but I have no proof. Apart from the people who morally equate the stalker and the stalked, it is great fun.

And since I've been online, I have never lacked an obsessed troll on my tail. As they burn out or get banned, another one just happens to pop up like magic.

But honest to God, I do not seek them out. But I must admit, as soon as I detect one, I do toss him for lolz.

Sorry mods. With power comes responsibility. I don't envy the job you have to do.

how so?
Why do you think Schumer needed to mention supreme court justices specifically? Why those two?

I was on your side till you posted the context, when you did, I saw GP had been correct.

Schumer is actually warning the court not to vote in a way he (and his left wing rabble) doesn't like! And calling out justices by name! Is that not alarming to you?

How can the supreme court be "wrong" when their purpose is to settle right and wrong?

There is no ruling on a matter of law interpretation that the SCOTUS cannot make.

Schumer threatened our democracy. Our system of government. He should be arrested.

These comments are very, very, dangerous for another reason.

The Supreme court is the final say on issues of Law. An legal decision of the SCOTUS cannot be an "attack". What is Schumer saying? That his view of abortion is superior to the SCOTUS?

Are democrats rejecting the concept of a SCOTUS? Is he saying that a SCOTUS decision can be ignored if they disagree with it?

I think he should be sacked from the Senate.

Does Prayer Work?

@ludofl3x
Pray to a human father? Why? Do you mean ask the human dad to rescue the puppy?
No. Just have kids ask their father for things they want and see if any of the requests are "successful".

Everyone can verify the presence of a specific dad immediately...
But you aren't testing the dad remember, you're only testing the requests.

...and you can be sure the prayer is heard and responded to either negatively or positively.
How? The dad may ignore some requests, misunderstand some, and reject some as inappropriate.

"Success" in my experiment is "dog lives."
That is bogus because the dog living is not necessarily God answering.

I think we found the problem with your understanding of the experiment.  You're only looking for one god. That's not very scientific.
The number of Gods is immaterial. The problem is in the methodology of your experiment, not the subject of your experiment. Your experiment gives no valid data of the efficacy of prayer.

The study you linked doesn't test the efficacy of prayer. It tests whether people who know they are being prayed for, suffer fewer complications due to the knowledge of being prayed for.

An efficacy test would not allow the patients to know they were being prayed for. Basically this study was testing whether knowing someone cared for them made a difference to their health.

The comments in your link back up my claims.

Intercessory prayer is widely believed to influence recovery from illness, but claims of benefits are not supported by well-controlled clinical trials. Prior studies have not addressed whether prayer itself or knowledge/certainty that prayer is being provided may influence outcome.

...then if whatever you define as "success" happens,
But you are unable to define anything as "success" unless you simply slap the word "success" on some ad-hoc thing.

...you have to study WHY it was successful
And how would you do that with God? Send Him a questionnaire?

If none of the women respond to any of the pickup lines, your results are "these pickup lines appear ineffective and further testing may be warranted."
But the pickup lines may not be ineffective! Your test has told you nothing. And even if a guy successfully picks up a woman, it may not be the pick-up line at all. It may be some other factor.

Regardless of the results, successful pick-up or not) no conclusion you draw from such an experiment will be scientifically  valid.

I cited one that's been peer reviewed, you ignored it.
Cite the post #.

Its like you think God is an algorithm or a robot. That anyone can just yell out any petition to Him and he must act.

Which of the five gods are you referring to?
There is only one God.

And why that one?
As there is only one, that is the only one I could refer to.

Either way, God is not an algorithm or a robot.

Just substituting a human father in place of God in your experiment will immediately show your experiments failings.

Let's move the test you suggest to different subjects.

Let's say we have a woman at the bar of a club. We are going to send in 10 guys to use a pick-up line on her to see if we get any results. Is that a reasonable test?

Here is what your test is like:
Q: Does the woman like guys?
You don't care, you're just testing pick-up lines.
Q: What body type is the woman attracted to?
You don't care, you're just testing pick-up lines.
Q: Is the woman at the bar working there because she cannot fraternize with customers if she is working.
You don't care, you're just testing pick-up lines.
Q: Does the woman speak the language of the guys trying to pick her up?
You don't care, you're just testing pick-up lines.

Now, a tall Chinese guy successfully picks her up. Is this because his pick-up line was successful, or she was simply attracted to Oriental men?

Maybe she is attracted to short dark men, but the short dark fella didn't smell nice.

Questioning the woman later on why she responded to the Chinese guy, she replies, "he seemed to be rich."

What has your test told you about pick-up lines? Nothing useful. The test is bogus.

The thing I think you're not getting is that you're trying to test a person, not a thing. And no matter how you deny it, the subject will know He's is being tested and that will immediately invalidate the test.

Its like you think God is an algorithm or a robot. That anyone can just yell out any petition to Him and he must act.

I still say there is a reason you don't see experiments like what you described. No one would spend money and time on an experiment that could give no valid and usable results. Why would they?

And any experiment like this would be laughed out of scientific circles as illiterate nonsense.

As I said Zionism is what it is and the Trump Netanyahu meeting was all about Zionism .
The topic was the first American president to attend a march for life. Your anti- semitism made you lash out incoherently against Zionists, your pet name for Jews.

Trump meeting Netanyahu had nothing to do with the subject.

You do know what Zionism is don't you?
I do. I also know what an anti-semite is too. Your country is known to be infected with antisemitism Z. Even more so the liberal party you seem to love. You are probably simply a product of your toxic environment rather than a out and out anti-semite.

 I don't believe you for a minute.
Of course you don't. But I'll survive your doubt.

You might tow the party line but that doesn't absolve you of your own thoughts.

This is why you use the puppy in the sack, in a pool. The only way out of the sack is a miracle, and then, you'd know you had an answered prayer.
No you wouldn't. As you said, some kind hearted atheist could have jumped in and pulled them out.

Someone could have sabotaged the test with bags the puppies can escape.

By chance there could have been divers under the water where you threw the puppies who set them free.

Your experiment doesn't plan for any of these chance things.

Then you could set up your next experiment, to find out which god answered the prayer. You missed this part, apparently.
You keep saying I missed this part. I didn't. Your experiment cannot tell you if any prayer was answered. All the puppies dying could be God answering all the prayers with a "no". You have no way of differentiating that from a non answer.

Some or all of the puppies surviving does not mean a miracle either. Would you believe it was a miracle if someone told you about such an experiment and puppies surviving? No, you would simply assume there is an unknown factor in the process.

Where is the flaw? Where's your objection?
I keep telling you, but you keep ignoring it.

Prayer can only be tested on what the people who pray say about prayer.

Consider this. Let's say there is a religion that teaches that God doesn't answer any prayer on Mondays. You may conduct your test on Monday, but the people being tested will simply say, "Of course your results showed no prayer answered, God doesn't answer prayer on Mondays!"

To test their claim, you must test THEIR CLAIM about prayer. Just putting a bunch of theists together and having them mouth prayers gives you garbage results.

And even when you get a result that coincides with an answered prayer, you have no way of ruling out some other circumstance, like chance or sabotage.

And why cause the kids to bond with the puppies first? Unless you think more fervent prayers will affect the one they pray to, it is pointless. But if you think more fervent prayer may affect the one being prayed to, then so may knowledge that a test is being conducted.

The experiment doesn't have to mention God, but He is still the one being prayed to and Christianity says God is omniscient.

You cannot depend on any results you get on prayers to an omniscient being. Blind tests cannot be done on Him. And it doesn't matter whether your experiment acknowledges Him or not.

A test on whether prayer "works", is a test on the one being prayed to. This is an inescapable fact.

Your experiment doesn't even address pertinent things concerning scientific methodology.

*Will the kids know of each other?

*How long will they be given to pray?

*If a puppy is retrieved dead but is revived through CPR, will that count as an answered prayer or not?

*If all the bags were found to be sliced open as with a knife, and all puppies survived, would that count as all prayers answered or sabotage?

Please read up on the scientific method. There is a reason no reputable scientists have ever done any prayer experiments.
