No claim DP1 beyond I AM TOWN

Power in ancient Rome is like Ryan Choi
without the negativity: take the 13th and
remove his quiet with tea. Try
urine before a canopy.

A dagger of the mind, a false creation,
Proceeding from the heat-oppressed brain?"

That 30% abuse rate is still quite concerning.
Let's agree to be concerned.  My point is that I'd rather see marijuana abuse replace liquor and cigarette abuse. It's not about the absence of negative consequences so much as reduction in negative consequences.

I was born in Alexandria, VA.  I lived in Crofton, Md until 6th grade so yeah, there is probably plenty of east coast in my language.  But I've been in Denver a long time now, the city has changed utterly several times since I've lived downtown.

Did you see that both sides cite JAMA?  The 30 percenters cite JAMApsychiatry and the 9 percenters are JAMAoncology.  We may be looking at the difference between psychiatric and oncological definitions of disorder or perhaps oncologists are better pre-disposed (or biased) to mmj by practical experience.

You're right. It is wrong to say "non-addictive," particularly if we are calling salt and sugar addictive.  Let's withdraw that faulty adjective and instead insert this closer-to-the-point excerpt from Wikipedia:

Cannabis dependence develops in about 9% of users, significantly less than that of heroin, cocaine, alcohol, and prescribed anxiolytics,[17] but slightly higher than that for psilocybin, mescaline, or LSD.[18] Of those who use cannabis daily, 10–20% develop dependence.

To that I will add personal anecdote: as somebody who was very addicted to nicotine for a long time I sense little of the physical dependency/urge that drug (nicotine) stimulates in the consumption of marijuana.

I am a resident of Downtown Denver & an occasional  recreational consumer of marijuana.  I once considered most of the medicinal claims around marijuana bullshit but I was impressed by the effectiveness of CBD at maintaining my father's appetite during the last two years of his struggle against cancer.

I'm not one to argue that marijuana is particularly good for you but I am well convinced that marijuana is far less harmful than alcohol and tobacco- so long as those two drugs are legally available than I think the Govt. has a responsibility to offer marijuana as a non-adictive, far less harmful alternative to more dangerous drugs.

Now beginning our seventh year since legalization, Denver has enjoyed a nearly 20% increase in population since legalization, attracted by legalization - and that wave of new migrants has proved remarkably beneficial- avg age late 20's, avg income 80,000, very tech savvy, very trendy.  There are so many good jobs in Denver right now that fast food restaurants and the post office and public transportation are collapsing from the lack of applicants.  So far, Denver has seen almost no increase in marijuana consumption by the under 21 set but a remarkable tripling of consumption by the over 60s.  Drug related crimes have predictably fallen off 15% but everybody is surprised that DUIs have gone down 25% at a time when Denver is making a genuine play for beer capitol of the world.

There's a lot of pro-marijuana folks that will argue that even recreational marijuana is good for you.  I'm not one of those though there are some practical medical applications.

Mainly, I'd argue that marijuana is far less toxic than nicotine or alcohol.  If you are going to allow those substances and accept all their manifest harms then

1. It's hypocritical to oppose use of a less toxic substance, and
2.  There's a real advantage to offering marijuana as a less addictive, less harmful alternative to those chemicals.

Is the Prime Directive Just?
Suppose we are the primitive culture even now observed by Prime Directived Betegeuseans who mastered death 5 million years ago but fear what might happen if they shared the secret of immortality with humans?  What culture have we ever met that didn’t wish to benefit from another culture’s advancements?  Do we owe a sovereign intelligent species the right to represent and promote their own priorities rather than unilateral non-communication? What if unilateral non-communication is perceived as hostile to an alien civ?

i think it would be a mistake to underestimate the fear and loathing any alien intelligent species will likely provoke in the human heart. We haven’t even progressed beyond irrationally fearing intraspecies gender differences or phenotype differences like skin color or ideological differences like religion.   Imagine how we’ll fear telepathic octopi who eat their young as a religion. Or whatever.  I will be pleasantly surprised if humans don’t knee jerk & nuke the first aliens we meet.  Think of all the treaties superior human militaries have signed with aboriginal cultures and how seldom the mightier civ abided by their promises.  If humans are superior and aliens are sitting on something humans really want- history advises that woe betide the aliens in our way.

Still I Rise

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
’Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops,
Weakened by my soulful cries?

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
’Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin’ in my own backyard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history’s shame
I rise
Up from a past that’s rooted in pain
I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.

Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.

LET AMERICA BE AMERICA AGAIN
Let America be America again.
Let it be the dream it used to be.
Let it be the pioneer on the plain
Seeking a home where he himself is free.
(America never was America to me.)

Let America be the dream the dreamers dreamed —
Let it be that great strong land of love
Where never kings connive nor tyrants scheme
That any man be crushed by one above.

(It never was America to me.)

O, let my land be a land where Liberty
Is crowned with no false patriotic wreath,
But opportunity is real, and life is free,
Equality is in the air we breathe.

(There's never been equality for me,
Nor freedom in this "homeland of the free.")

Say, who are you that mumbles in the dark?
And who are you that draws your veil across the stars?

I am the poor white, fooled and pushed apart,
I am the Negro bearing slavery's scars.
I am the red man driven from the land,
I am the immigrant clutching the hope I seek —
And finding only the same old stupid plan
Of dog eat dog, of mighty crush the weak.

I am the young man, full of strength and hope,
Tangled in that ancient endless chain
Of profit, power, gain, of grab the land!
Of grab the gold! Of grab the ways of satisfying need!
Of work the men! Of take the pay!
Of owning everything for one's own greed!

I am the farmer, bondsman to the soil.
I am the worker sold to the machine.
I am the Negro, servant to you all.
I am the people, humble, hungry, mean —
Hungry yet today despite the dream.
Beaten yet today--O, Pioneers!
I am the man who never got ahead,
The poorest worker bartered through the years.

Yet I'm the one who dreamt our basic dream
In the Old World while still a serf of kings,
Who dreamt a dream so strong, so brave, so true,
That even yet its mighty daring sings
In every brick and stone, in every furrow turned
That's made America the land it has become.
O, I'm the man who sailed those early seas
In search of what I meant to be my home —
For I'm the one who left dark Ireland's shore,
And Poland's plain, and England's grassy lea,
And torn from Black Africa's strand I came
To build a "homeland of the free."

The free?

Who said the free? Not me?
Surely not me? The millions on relief today?
The millions shot down when we strike?
The millions who have nothing for our pay?
For all the dreams we've dreamed
And all the songs we've sung
And all the hopes we've held
And all the flags we've hung,
The millions who have nothing for our pay —
Except the dream that's almost dead today.

O, let America be America again —
The land that never has been yet —
And yet must be--the land where every man is free.
The land that's mine — the poor man's, Indian's, Negro's, ME —
Who made America,
Whose sweat and blood, whose faith and pain,
Whose hand at the foundry, whose plow in the rain,
Must bring back our mighty dream again.

Sure, call me any ugly name you choose —
The steel of freedom does not stain.
From those who live like leeches on the people's lives,
We must take back our land again,
America!

O, yes,
I say it plain,
America never was America to me,
And yet I swear this oath —
America will be!

Out of the rack and ruin of our gangster death,
The rape and rot of graft, and stealth, and lies,
We, the people, must redeem
The land, the mines, the plants, the rivers.
The mountains and the endless plain —
All, all the stretch of these great green states —
And make America again!

bsh1 Memorial Profile Pick of the Week No. 12- MLK
I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.  I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of “interposition” and “nullification”, one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers. I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

This is our hope. This is the faith that I go back to the South with.  With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope.  With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood.  With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.

This will be the day, this will be the day when all of God’s children will be able to sing with new meaning:

“My country, ‘tis of thee,
sweet land of liberty,
of thee I sing.

Land where my fathers died,
land of the pilgrim’s pride,
from every mountainside,
let freedom ring!”

And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true.

So let freedom ring  from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.

Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.

Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania.

Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado.

Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California.

But not only that:

Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia.

Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee.

Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi.

From every mountainside, let freedom ring.

And when this happens  (Let it ring, Let it ring), and when we allow freedom ring (Let it ring), when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city (Yes Lord), we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children (Yeah), black men (Yeah) and white men (Yeah), Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics (Yes), will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:

“Free at last!  Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!”

no nightkill.  Singularity offers a plausible explanation that is not countered by anybody, which strengthens both Singularity & GPs claim.

Speed now admits to lying about being a DREAMER (often a scummie claim anyway) and now claims BP.
Speed now claims to be the nightkill target which contradicts Singularity.
Speed fingers GP in spite of GP's strengthening claim.
Speed offers no explanation for failed COP on Speed.

Speed's credibility is suspect for roleclaim change.  Offers no explanation for why a BP would claim DREAMER (and therefore commit to lying to town).  Speed points to a prior post and suggests breadcrumbing but that post only justifies some lies as town and does not BC BP.

Speed's town cred is shot and I think we should lynch with high confidence.

I note the YouTube video is festooned with Trump ads, which is no coincidence. In fact, I consider the one a rather apt metaphor for the other: the people who look at a snapshot of a moth hovering in front of a security camera but choose to see a magical being with super powers reaffirming all their misbegotten presumptions and thickening their cocoons of numb ignorance are precisely Trump’s demographic. Enjoy.

The definition I would use for that role would come from Town of Salem, which ran a similar functionality

I don't know Town of Salem but according to the Wiki, ESCORT is a straight out Roleblocker in that game.

Summary
A beautiful woman skilled in distraction.

Distract someone each night.
Attributes
Distraction blocks your target from using their role's night ability.

GP asked:

Did Pie

A) redirect my Action onto Drafter or did he
B) redirect actions targetting me on to Drafter?

Supa answered:

I can not confirm if Pie did those actions, but the role would work as A I think

Now, the "i think" is pretty weak sauce for any referee [If Sup is not certain, then how can anybody else be?].  But since he has not contradicted we must procede as REDIRECT.

If you are truthful, Anything GP did hit Drafter.   This makes Singularity a liar.
If you and GP are both telling the truth, GP COP'd drafter inno.
If singularity is truthful, whatever you did, it wasn't redirect GP.

I don’t make the rules dude. Supa does, and I said to redirect all actions on GP to Drafter. And Supa did it. That’s mod not me. If I was incorrectly using the rule he should’ve said so.

Well, if I was MOD and you said redirect all actions on GP to Drafter I would interpret that as redirect COP to Drafter without double-checking with you.  I assume that is what Dudz did as he has now confirmed.  If I was MOD, I would never have called that role ESCORT but perhaps Dudz did.

Nevertheless, the fact that you thought you were deflecting when you were in fact redirecting has revealed a lie.

you are correct.  Either singularity or pie is lying.  I think it has to be Pie.  He came in very late with info important for town.  He misunderstood the nature of his own claim.  Chef is not a particularly good match for ESCORT.  A 1XREDIRECTOR is more likely scum than town.  JOAT is a big claim for scum.  Singularity came in early with his info.

I'm not 100% sure Pie is scum but now the whole game dynamic turns on whether he is telling the truth.  I think we should lynch Pie and figure this out.  If he's telling the truth, his power is shot anyway.

NOPE.  That is a DEFLECTOR role.

Redirector is a role that causes all actions taken on a particular Night by a specific player to target a specific second player instead of whatever their original target was.

Singularity's report shows that Pie did not visit GP as claimed.

Singularity's report shows that Pie did not visit GP as claimed.

@Speedrace
why wouldn't a redirect count as a visit?  I see no precedent.

Redirector is a role that causes all actions taken on a particular Night by a specific player to target a specific second player instead of whatever their original target was.
Variations
The name Redirector is sometimes used to describe a Deflector instead, but this practice is discouraged nowadays.
Captain can also change the target of other players' abilities, but only those of specific other players, and those players normally have an option to refuse to use their action in response to discovering their target.
Use and Power
In the majority of cases, players are not informed that their Night actions were redirected. As with Deflectors and Bus Drivers, there is no consensus about whether an investigative role should be made aware of this redirection via their report or not; see Dealing with Scum Bus Drives.
Mafia Redirectors serve a similar function to Roleblockers in practice; a player's action can typically be neutralized via redirecting it onto a useless target, such as directing a Cop onto a confirmed player, or a Doctor onto a player who is not the target of a nightkill, although it is a bad idea to allow one into the same setup as a Vigilante or Serial Killer. In Town's hands, it is a little more powerful, due to the risk that it can be used to wrest control of the Mafia's nightkill into Town's hands. For similar reasons, it is normally a bad idea to allow a player to force another player to self-target, especially if that player is Town-aligned; this would give them the effect of a Vigilante kill that only worked on anti-Town players (who typically have kills).
In setups where multiple scumteams exist, but (for balance reasons) only one of them has a nightkill, giving the other team a factional Redirector ability is a common way to give them influence over the game at Night – in particular, this lets them take control of the nightkill if they can guess who is performing it.
