@Shila
Do you agree God showed Moses his backside according to Exodus 33 20-23?
No
Do Jews see God’s backside as his glory?
Can't be answered.

you define "likable" as "saying things you want to hear."
For some reason you think that "likeable" is an important commandment and that it would change the course of history. Physician, heal thyself.

There is so much stupidity and anti-Semitism in this thread alone. The answer to "why" is "because people are hateful, lazy and unsuccessful and need to externalize their disappointment with their own lives by scapegoating others.

The reason to bring it up is to pool resources. If we know a certain group is a disproportionate part of the problem we can target resources towards them. So if we know rap music is appealing to the worst instincts of black youth, and we can see that Jews are running the music industry, if we ban jews from the music industry than perhaps what will fill the vacuum is people who want to use music to raise up the morality of black youth as an examlle
brilliant. And I therefore cannot get a job for which I might be eminently qualified because you see the stereotype and not me.

If you are not claiming causation the the correlation is meaningless. In fact, I suspect that I could find a larger correlation to another group. If it isn't causation and correlation is useless then why use it as an identifier?
Created:

@WyIted
That may be a statistical position. But that cannot account for any causation.

@WyIted
that was a meta analysis and you really should go through the conclusion more carefully. Any "influence" would be one of thousands of tiny factors. If you want to hang your hat of a view of the entire of recent history on this tenuous a claim, just say so.

Probably genetic. It is an ethno religion. So maybe some genetic predisposition that draws people to harmful leftist ideology, particularly communism. If it is some common Gene that perhaps activates in a sizable minority of Jews. Kind of like Tay Sachs disease or something.
Seriously? Ok. The shark has left the building. Night folks.

Everyone knows they are unreliable. It's just meant to make a quick judgement in the absence of other information.
This is exactly the problem. Know it is unreliable but choose to use it to make a judgment before gathering facts.
You know that most famous sci-fi authors are Mormon? It's interesting isn't it? Wouldn't knowing that help you get in their brain and help you to realize what attributes help them become science fiction writers, particularly if you yourself want to be one?
That would assume causation and not just correlation and I don't want to do that. I know that a bunch were Jewish but there is nothing in Judaism that would impact biology or genetics or sociology so much as to bring about sci fi.
Are you denying that people like Karl Marx have a Jewish background or are you just strawmanning the position by pretending itnis a claim about a sort of cabal or some other nonsense?
Are you assuming that a variable of religuon was at all a causitive factor? He was Jewish by birth. He was also right handed. Which is relevant to his politics and how? What about his love of poetry and Shakespeare? Why are those groups not associated with his philosophy? Then, any assumption about what "the Jews" do or will do depends on believe that we have some collective group think. Call it a cabal or not, but it depends on believing in a monolithic religious bloc.
obviously being crooked by pursuing him in court.
What? Are you a lawyer? Have you investigated this more than they? Or is it just that because you disagree with their ends, you judge them to be automatically wrong in their means?

@WyIted
So stereotypes would be generally accurate.
No, they would have been a local truth and that's all.
If you fell outside of that than it wouldn't make the stereotype untrue.
It would show that the stereotype is flawed and unreliable.
If I say "the jews run the banks" it wouldn't require the majority of banks to even be run by Jews, it would just require a sizable disproportionate number.
And it would posit a causal relationship between these people's position in banking and their religion which actually is only reinforcing an untrue assumption. By invoking religion specifically for Jews (have you heard conversations that start "hey, do you know how many banks are run by Christians?") this creates, rather that endorses a stereotype.
Anyway as far as Jews are concerned. American jews looking to push Marxism and promote laws making it easy for children to transition genders are pieces of shits.
OH, we are? Is that something we decided at some huge meeting? I must have been out sick for that meeting and I didn't get anything from the central authority. Tell me more about what I'm doing.
. Also Israeli Jews who are trying to falsely persecute Netanyahu for crimes he obviously didn't commit
I have no doubt that he did commit some of them. Are you saying, by the way, that you know the facts better than Israelis?

Have you made ntioned to the Muslims in Israel's government? Or would you rather just take a top post about Judaism and show the intellectual laziness of conflating it with Israel?
Created:

@IlDiavolo
A stereotype is a local truth applied to a larger group predictively. It is a lazy shorthand which is often wrong. Group trait assumptions are generally wrong.
Created:

@IlDiavolo
So would you suggest that I, because I am a Jew, am stingy? If not, then it isn't a proper stereotype of Jews, just a biased judgment of some people who happen to be Jewish.

This seems too much for you.
Nothing is not too much for me.
Your God was talking about punishments. You are defending your God. Poor defense.
So you really have no idea what is going on so you just insert whatever you think you want to talk about. Try to stick with the actual topic.
I wouldnt say it is an unsubstantiated claim.
I would. You have presented no proof.
You also claimed that your God actually ended slavery.
No, I didn't.
I wouldnt say you dont care.
I would. I enjoy showing your mistakes but I don't care about your opinion.

I am not sure if I care really a lot about this. I just take some time to expose the insane religion. It doesnt take much care. Just some.
you asked why anyone would care. Then you admit that you care. Maybe you need to ask yourself.
Created:

@Best.Korea
Not sure if I would say that I have no evidence, but okay.
you have yet to produce any.
So if some greater evil is more popular, it should be punished less
I don't recall saying anything about punishment. Once you start with an error, your conclusions are erroneous.
Also, you didnt respond to golden statues argument, so I guess you agree that your logic is inconsistent.
There was no argument -- just an unsubstantiated claim.
So a much smaller evil needs to be punished much more
who said anything about punishment?
You seem to care, but okay.
about your opinion? Not even a little.

Not sure why would anyone care about an insane religion.
so then don't comment on it. If you don't care, you would ignore it. Clearly, you care.

@Best.Korea
Ah, I get it. You have bad memory. Its okay. I understand that there are people who cant understand their own arguments. Its okay to quit.
so you have no evidence that I said that. I get it. If you have nothing to back up a claim, you just make up other stuff instead. I understand that having an adult conversation is tough for you.
The only thing we know for sure is that wearing women's clothes is punished by death while slavery is legal. Your argument was "slavery was common".
let's say that that was the entire of my argument (it wasn't, but hey, if you need simple, I'll try to dumb everything down) -- since something is common, it is regulated severely. This gives the aura of being allowed but because of the regulations it will be phased out. Something less common (and therefore not entrenched into the social fabric) is a fringe behavior that can be outlawed. You don't have to like it. No one cares what you think about it.
Created:

@Best.Korea
I dont know if I should keep up with your God.
then don't. Who cares?
Created:

@Best.Korea
So laws of an all powerful God are fully controlled by men then.
since no one said that, you can go ahead and argue with an empty position
If something is popular, its legal.
who said that?
It was also popular to worship golden statues, and your God had no problem with punishing people severely for that. Maybe slavery just isnt as bad as worshipping a statue or wearing women's clothes. Your God seems to think so.
no, actually, you seem to think that God thinks so. You are imputing your own interpretive schema and expecting that the text follows your methodology. You are wrong.

because it came from god, therefore slavery should be inconvenient but not forbidden.
because it came from God, it is so inconvenient so as to change entire societies without driving anyone away with absolutes that would not be observed.
Also don't try to union set this "well just because he tells you how to keep slaves doesn't mean that he's telling you slavery must be permitted"
admittedly, I don't know what "union set" means, but if you don't like that approach, then that's fine. Under the law, the death penalty is possible but is so highly regulated as to be almost impossible in practicality. Same thing.
That's like finding a recipe for pork belly in there and saying "look, pork is still forbidden, just if we're GOING to sin we may as well follow the recipe god gave us". It doesn't work and any honest person would admit it.
Some say that that was God's intention regarding eating meat. People are going to do it so God regulated it and made it more difficult to encourage poeple to be vegetarians. Again, who cares what your opinion is?
This is what a perfect god would say about slavery (if it was immoral as we now believe): Don't hold slaves. If this commandment is too burdensome don't mistreat your slaves or else your punishment will be worse.
this is what your vision of a perfect god would say. Why is your vision supposed to convince me of anything?

@ADreamOfLiberty
No it is not. Creating elaborate structures of redefinition and reinterpretation which you do not apply consistently is a logical error.
I don't recall doing that. I'm simply pointing out that your value position about something's being "always wrong" is irrelevant as the text's position trumps yours, and that your ignorance of text means that your statements about it are potentially wrong.
If what god says can't be trusted to give the whole truth and nothing but the truth regardless of transient human error then either he isn't god or his goal is not to tell us the truth but something else.
good thing he gives us the whole truth then! thanks for validating my position!
Created:

you are using your value judgment and applying it to the world of the text. That's a logical error.

In terms of the rules of slavery, God is acknowledging that that was a thing in society so many oppressive rules were added to discourage people from owning others.

In other words "these aren't the droids you're looking for" NOW GO AWAY BEFORE I TAUNT YOU A SECOND TIME!
why use other words? Why not just react to the actual words I used. The fact is, Jewish law is complicated and goes well beyond any literal reading of the text. If you don't like that or don't want to accept it, who cares?

Why can’t the Jews accept the Trinity of God?
Because it is counter logical. If you think that God's omnipotence means he can change like this, then why was there a heresy charge against binity? Why wouldn't you accept a quadrinity? Because God is what God is, not something else.
Just like they reduced God’s covenant to circumcision to limit God’s choices.
Created:

@Shila
Because God is not human. God is not divisible. The trinity is alen to Judaism. Why was there need to invent it (and the binity heresy before it)?

Jews don't have a notion of having to be saved. And since Jesus has no part in Judaism the Bible doesn't mention Jesus. By the way, Romans 11 says "all Israel shall be saved" so claiming that only a remnant is involved.
