So this hypothetical thing, whatever it is, cannot be measured in any way and is indistinguishable from everything else? What is the practical difference from our perspective between this entity and no entity at all? That is if it is undetectable how do you know it is there?

Yes so you have said before. I'm just not completely sure what you mean by it. Does this thing have specific describable attributes? Does it accomplish tasks or give of measurable amounts of energy that can be distinguished from the background energy of the universe itself?

At this point I don't even know what you mean by truth. Can you give me an example of an eternal truth without making a tautology?

@Mopac
What qualifies as eternal in an ever-changing universe? The suffering of humans is at least as eternal as the human race is. Are you sure this isn't just a convenient excuse to dismiss truths that do not support your hypothesis?

@Mopac
Truth is truth and that inocent people suffer is true. I'm not sure how you are differentiating this truth from the truth you claim to worship but making that distinction would seem to cheapen the truth.

@Mopac
It is true that children occasionally get bone cancer. Do you love that truth?
Created:

@Mopac
So you believe that whatever the truth is is true and you worship the concept of truth even if it is an unconscious abstract force. Unless I am missing something.

@Mopac
So you are not claiming that The truth is a concious entity? Yes or no will do nicely.

@Mopac
I cannot gaurantee that ants have any conciousness. In the same way I'm unsure if you are describing a concious being as separate from the concept of truth (that which is factually accurate) or not. The truth is that you are not describing you capitol g god very well. So far you have just stated a tautology and claimed that this tautology is inseparable from this hypothetical being which may or may not be Yahweh (You have yet to confirm or deny that it is Yahweh under discussion).

@Mopac
So are you ascribing conciousness to the truth or merely willing to worship that which is factually accurate whether it has conciousness or not?
Created:

@Mopac
Except that you say truth you are referencing an entity. That the truth is true is tautalogically true but it remains true even if Yahweh is not part of that truth. Why do you believe that Yahweh specifically is a part of the truth?

@Mopac
Again this is what you believe not why you believe it. Would you prefer to discuss it privately wouldvthst make it easier for you to explain yoir position?

@Mopac
I'm not actually arguing at all. I'm trying to determine why you believe what you believe.

@Mopac
Have you ever been wrong? Isn't that proof that you could be wrong now? Why don't you want to address the why part of what do you believe and why?
Created:

@Mopac
I understand that you believe that but you still haven't explained why. Why do you believe that reality, assuming reality exists at all, is anything other than what it seems?
Created:

@Mopac
But why do you believe that? This is what you believe and why. Also I have no reason to believe in any god(s) so I'm not sure we can refer to this hypothetical entity as my god.

I cast the resistance cantrip on myself. Whatever this thing does when it touches you I want a saving throw boost.

@Mopac
Because if consciousness exists, it must be reality. If reality exists, their must be ultimate reality. The Ultimate Reality is God.
This addresses what you believe but not why. Why must this "ultimate reality" be any god let alone your god? As a bonus you might tell me which god we are discussing if you have a specific god concept in mind.
Created:

@Mopac
All consciousness surely comes from God. Consciousness could not exist apart from God.
And how have you determined that?

If I feel threatened I fire my crossbow. Have I seen into the crib yet?

@mustardness
If you think interaction with my perceived "reality" proves that it is real then you have missed the point.
Created:
Posted in:

@mustardness
So you have perceptions and if these perceptions accurately reflect reality then we can make certain inferences from those perceptions. The real question is how do we know that our perceptions do accurately reflect reality. Now there is no point in behaving as though what we perceive is not real since it is the only "reality" we know but it is still beyond our epistemological limits to say with certainty that it is real.

I am approaching. You didn't think I would hesitate just because the gnome said something did you? I just want to get close enough to see the baby.

@Mopac
Are you implying that truth is an entity with a conciousness of some kind?

I slowly approach. I expect to see a dead baby but I must make sure.
