Debate: Sept/7/19         Thank you very much Billbatard for excepting my debate.

                                                                     Power and Geography

Economy

The size of the Brazilian economy is more than 600 billion dollars larger than the Mexican one, a 52% difference. Not only this, but when these are adjusted for purchasing power parity, Brazil beats Mexico by 800 billion dollars, a 33% gap. On a per person basis Brazil is also slightly better off if you look at each persons average disposable salary when accounting for cost of living, and taxes, a Brazilian is better off.

Cultural Influence

Brazil was ranked the 7th most culturally impactful nation in the world, while Mexico ranks 26th.

Military

Brazil possesses the 13th largest military according to "The Global Firepower index 2019." This same source puts Mexico as the 34th strongest military.

Geography

Brazil is the 5th largest country, but, Mexico is 14th, being 422% bigger than Mexico.

Freedoms, standards of living and service to the world

Freedom

The difference may be small but Brazil is freer than Mexico, with Brazil ranking 83rd, and Mexico 100th.

Standard of living

First lets look at violent crime, despite Brazil holding the most violent crime of any nation, on a per capita basis Brazil is better off than Mexico.

Service to the world

Holding a large amount of Peacekeeping forces is a great way to demonstrate greatness, Brazil does this well by contributing 2,254% more peace keepers to the United Nations.

I'd implore my opponent to state his case and then do rebuttals in R2, although you're under no obligation to do so.

Most of Brazil is on fire , the president of the country is like a mussolini type Mexico seems to be in better shape, prove me wrong

My opponent has stated his case, here are my rebuttals.

Most of Brazil is on fire
As seen in my source, most of Brazil isn't on fire, it actually appears that fires were worse in 2003 and 2010. The total fatalities of these fires was 2, Also, a substantial amount of these fires are made deliberately.

the president of the country is like a mussolini type
My opponent fails to substantiate this in any way.

Mexico seems to be in better shape
My opponent fails to substantiate this in any way.

Now I'd implore my opponent to rebut my R1/R2 arguments now, although you don't have to, also, please substantiate your claims.

The Mexican economy is in better shape than the Brazilian economy
You try to prove this with GNI per capita, I'll break this down.

What you said is true, but by Nominal GDP(listed in R1) and by GNI(not per capita) Brazil is better off  by 648 billion dollars.

I'm assuming you used GNI per capita to prove the average Mexican is better off than the average Brazilian. Well, as listed in R1 the average Brazilian has more disposable salary after taxes and after being adjusted for cost of living.

Staying on the economy, a Mexican Peso is nearly 5 times stronger than a Brazilian Real. This is actually a good thing, my source states"A weak currency may help a country’s exports gain market share when its goods are less expensive compared to goods priced in stronger currencies. The increase in sales may boost economic growth and jobs, while increasing profits for companies conducting business in foreign markets." But it doesn't end there, Brazil's population is just under 100 million people larger than the Mexican population, this will let Brazil scale it's economy to a much greater extent.

Your source focuses a lot on forest fires, well in this source(He's reviewing a NYT article), it's obvious fires were worse in 2003 and in 2010, so his right wing populism can't be that bad for the environment. Also, in that same source it shows just how little deforestation has increased under Bolsanoro.

the leader of brazil is a fascist dick
No where in your source does it say the Brazilian leader is a fascist.
