I will merely be listing bullet points to establish my reasoning, we shall go deeper in the future rounds hopefully.

Tourism

Thailand attracts 147% more tourists than Vietnam, with Thailand attracting 38.3 million visitors as of 2018, but Vietnam merely attracts 15.5 million.

Quality of Life

Thailand ranks 61st worldwide for quality of life, but Vietnam is ranked 74th. Also, Thailand was ranked as the 59th best country to raise children in, Thailand was ranked 34th.

Education and Academic Achievement.

Thailand again beats Vietnam for education. Also, Vietnam spends less on education, proving how inefficient it’s spending, it actually spends a larger percentage of its GDP(28% more). Also, Thailand has 14 universities in the list of the best universities worldwide, Vietnam has no universities on the list.

Service to the World

Once again Thailand beats Vietnam here, seeing how Thailand contributes 304% more peacekeepers.

Freedom/Democracy

Thailand scored 107th world wide for Democracy, while Vietnam ranked 140th, this source further proves That Thailand has superior free expression. If we want to be more broad with freedom and look at the whole picture, Thailand still comes ahead according to the “Human Freedom Index.”

Geography

Thailand is far larger than Vietnam, with Thailand ranking 50th and Vietnam ranking 65th.

Economy

The Vietnamese Economy is merely 260 billion dollars large, but Thailand holds 516 billion dollars. Even per capita Thailand is superior with the average Thai person holding $7,187, with Vietnam merely possessing $2,551. All numbers come from 2019, so this is about as recent as it gets.

Thailand vs Vietnam cost of living
Vietnam has considerably lower living costs than Thailand. A single person can get by in Hanoi on about $448 plus rent. A one-bedroom in the center of Hanoi rents for about $369 a month, and a three-bedroom for about $695. ... In fact, both Thailand and Vietnam have startlingly low living costs to American eyes.Aug 4, 2019
Vietnam's economy continues to show fundamental strength, supported by robust domestic demand and export-oriented manufacturing. ... Following 6.8 percent growth in 2017, preliminary data indicate that GDP growth accelerated to 7.1 percent in 2018, underpinned by a broad-based pickup in economic activity.

https://www.worldbank.org › country › vietnam › overview  https://www.worldbank.org/en/country/vietnam/overview   https://www.worldbank.org/en/country/vietnam/overviewOver the past 30 years, Vietnam has had a remarkable development record. Economic and political reforms under Đổi Mới, launched in 1986, have spurred rapid economic growth and development and transformed Vietnam from one of the world’s poorest nations to a lower middle-income country.
Vietnam’s economy continues to show fundamental strength, supported by robust domestic demand and export-oriented manufacturing. The extreme poverty rate is estimated to have declined to below 3 percent. Following 6.8 percent growth in 2017, preliminary data indicate that GDP growth accelerated to 7.1 percent in 2018, underpinned by a broad-based pickup in economic activity.
Vietnam’s medium-term outlook is broadly favorable, and downside risks are tied to weak external demand, shifting trade patterns, global financial volatility, and incomplete banking and state-owned enterprise (SOE) reforms. On the upside, Vietnam is strongly positioned to benefit from numerous free trade agreements that are coming into force now and over the forecast period.
Vietnam’s growth is projected to moderate to 6.6 percent in 2019, driven by credit tightening, slower private consumption and weaker external demand. Inflationary pressures are projected to remain moderate, due to subdued global demand conditions and moderate global energy and food prices. Over the medium term, growth is projected to stay around 6.5 percent, as the impact of current cyclical uptick dissipates. Poverty is expected to decline further, as labor market conditions remain favorable.https://www.worldbank.org/en/country/vietnam/overview
THAILAND Its economy is heavily export-dependent, with exports accounting for more than two-thirds of its gross domestic product (GDP). ... As of 2018, Thailand has an average inflation of 1.06% percent and an account surplus of 7.5 percent of the country's GDP. The Thai economy is expected to post 3.8% growth in 2019.

Cost Of Living Rebuttal

The fact that Thailand has a higher cost of living merely proves how much more desirable it's land is. Also, the average Vietnamese person will earn 148-500 dollars a month, but the cost of living is 700-1400 dollars a month, so even high earning Vietnamese citizens are struggling financially. If we compare average monthly salary seen here, a Thai person is 176% better off, but the cost of living in Hanoi(Vietnam Capital) is merely 31.16% lower than Thailand's capital Bangkok.

Economic Growth Rebuttal

Pretty Irrelevant to the debate, it clearly states "as of now." But, it is much easier to grow a smaller economy by a larger percentage, if we observe the total services added to the economy, Thailand bests Vietnam by 205%, and this is achieved with a smaller population. Yes a larger population isn't always better, it means a larger population to serve and despite Vietnam having a larger population, they get less revenue as a percentage of GDP, and seeing how Thailand has a larger GDP, it is easy to see that Thailand is gathering much more tax revenue. Voters shall determine if this is relevant to the resolution.

Export Dependency Rebuttal

My opponent points out how export dependent Thailand is(68.393%), while rejecting that Vietnam gets 93.624% of it’s GDP from exports, so when wages rise in Vietnam, we can then expect economic turmoil as manufacturing jobs flee the country.

Ending

My opponent’s arguments were wordy and very hard to understand, if I missed a crucial point I’d Implore my opponent to inform me, although he doesn’t have to.

as of now , why would you move to a dying society? let me give example from history
in most of the 19th century Great Britain dominated the world , is that not true, economically, militarily, culturally , but many experts, and many academics, many common folk with sense and ambition looked at the POTENTIAL of the uNITED STATES , a smaller weaker , poorer, nation but a nation groing fast with so much more potential than the stagnant class riddled Empire of bad teeth and piss warm beer . Emmigrants went for the nation with the potencial because, how long does now last? i brief moment the future is forever. you may live now but you plan for the future, few smart people just live in the moment that is for hedonists and the terminaly ill people now will look at both nations and say i can live better now in thailand but how about ten years from now? and alslo if you are lving on retirment savings its best to find a place where you can live well on less

so vietnam is best for old and young now because of its potentcial and its lower cost of living that still provides a similar quality of life, the same sort of life can be purchased for less

United Kingdom Rebuttal

Okay, but at that time Britain is greater, and by your logic Libya is superior to America because they grow more.

Cost of Living/Retirees Rebuttal

so vietnam is best for old and young now because of its potentcial and its lower cost of living that still provides a similar quality of life, the same sort of life can be purchased for less
Even your source admits that Thailand has superior Infrastructure, ties Vietnam for day to day life, but has a higher cost of living. It also states how healthcare is about even. I can say that health care favours Thailand though, your source I incorrect, Thailand ranked 47th worldwide, but Vietnam is 160th out of 190 nations. Also, I've covered cost of living.

Quality of Life

still provides a similar quality of life, the same sort of life can be purchased for less
I've already demonstrated how the cost of living is only 31% more, but Thai people make 176% more. So, overall you are worse off financially and getting a lower quality of life.

when you say greater, do you not include potential? as of NOW Vietnam has the potencial to become a powerhouse economy , libya does not
neither does thailand
whan you factor in the now of a culture or society you always factor in the Potential of a thing
you might an athelete who at this moment is the best but hes aging he drinks hes putting on wieght in 5 years hes going to be a worthless has been and now you can see that
then you have this kid hee skinny hes 18 hes green ass grass but hes got heart and hes been getting stronger every year and has 25 good years in from of him
you might put your money on the old guy on a the fight tonight
but now scouts and people looking for invenstment see this old soon to be washed up old man what is he worth

Potential exists now, and is a factor no one ignores
