Description
As we have some hope of end of pandemic and the workplace will go back to normal .How should the post pandemic workplace look like .Should work from home continue or we should go back to normal office Setting.
Round 1
Pandemic has shifted the workplace to all our homes.Not only has the same blurred the line between home and office ,the stress level has been high for everyone working from home.Many have had long hours in home office setting then they have on their regular office setting.Also, we as a human being are social animal,the interaction with different people,our colleagues and peers is what makes us feel alive.Human interaction rejuvenate our mind and body. Working from home is a temporary and not permanent solution.
- Human interaction is not only gained from work in person. Can go out with friends, family, etc.
- Air pollution dropped 50% since Covid 19 due to remote working. Environment is crucial to our health and well being.
- Reduce traffic accidents by $500 million/year, save countless lives.
- Workers are more flexible at home
- Traffic delays cause up to $38,000 lost over 4 year career. Add this to gas and transportation fees and we save so much money.
- Jobs are not limited by location. Reduce inequality of rural.

1.The economic impact working from home offers have a flip side to it.Employees are more likely to have burnout leading mental health issues and leading to more economic loss as well as well-being of the employee.
2.The transportation cost which is saved because of work from home comes back in the form of reimbursement of Various utilties bills.
3.Location bias will still exist apart from some sectors like IT as employer expect employees to atleast be on reachable limit in case of some physical presence required.
Con has failed to provide any sources.
I doubt that the utility cost outweighs 500 million lost in traffic accidents nor the air pollution.
Con says mental health goes down, but we don’t know how much. As we interact with friends in person this lessens cons worries.
Con dropped the idea of flexibility as well. While physical presence may be needed sometimes, I would argue that remote work being the majority of a job still fulfills my burden. As such, I have won this debate.
