First Stop Distractions for students, for students phones can be a huge distraction during school time. They can get many notifications, new social media vids, and the new tiktok videos. Its no wonder why students find it hard too focus when they could just doom scroll the entire class. If we ban phones, we will make a more focused and determined learning environment where everyone can fully participate in class without any unecessary interuptions.
Talking about social interaction, another thing we should think about is how phones impact the way students connect with each other. When students are allowed to have phones at school, they often spend their break and lunchtime glued to their screens, missing out on the chance to actually talk and hang out face-to-face. If we took away phones, it might help students start talking more, build stronger relationships, and create a tighter sense of community among everyone.
Enhancing Safety and Security Last but not least, banning phones can also contribute to enhancing safety and security within the school premises. Without phones as a potential tool for bullying, cheating, or unauthorized communication, schools can better ensure the well-being of their students and maintain a secure learning environment.
So, in the end, banning phones during the school day isn’t about taking away students’ freedom. It’s really about creating a space where they can focus, connect face-to-face, and stay safe. By doing this, schools give students a better chance to get the most out of their education without all the distractions and downsides that come with so much phone use. Thanks for hearing us out!
again sorry for the delay!!
With little time I have left I'll get to the bottomline.
Phones should not be banned as they can still be utilized for constructive purposes.
Such as for emergencies, emergency services, emergency contacts, reaching a parent/guardian/next of kin/significant associate.
Phone service can be allowed outside the classroom. Such as during lunch/break periods/recreation periods, etc.
So in light of these exceptions, it justifies not having phone usage banned in educational institutions.
I understand your point, but in most debate formats, forfeiting a significant portion of the rounds—like two out of three—typically results in a default loss. The reasoning is that debates are meant to be an exchange of arguments, and if one side isn't participating for the majority of the rounds, it’s considered a lack of engagement. Even if your opponent didn't argue much, they at least showed up for the rounds, which, by standard rules, counts as participation. In this case, forfeiting 66% of the debate essentially concedes the match by default.
How is that fair to say that I lose due to the fact that I forfeited but my opponent did not debate either we both did the same amount it's not fair to me and too the debate that you vote based on forfieting when I and my opponet did not debate the same rounds.
Just wait till time runs out. There is no other way to forfeit round. Or if Mall agrees, you can have debate deleted instead. Maybe thats the best way. But as it is now, round can either be posted either wait till time runs out. But you can post completely empty round by typing space instead of letters here. Or just write "i forfeit" in round and post it.
Is there a way i could forfiet
Sorry i was busy with another debate!!
I really wonder how will Mall argue this. Its a difficult debate for Con, but there is actually one flaw in the topic which can be used to argue opposite. I want to see if Mall will use argument I have in mind.
What is this debate about? What is your stance? Are you in favor or against?
Okay
Thats a wide definition. Opens plenty of goalposts to be had, no specific goalpost set. I will consider accepting this after I check just how many goalposts will I lose if I accept.
"Should" in this debate means whether it is the right, appropriate, or best decision for schools to make. It's asking if banning phones during the school day is a good idea, considering the consequences, benefits, and values in it.
I mean, whats the definition of "should" here? If its "improves health" or "reduces distractions", then its not really possible to argue against.
