Round 1
Everyone has a gender identity it’s your personal sense of being a boy, girl, both, neither, or something else. For most people, it matches the sex they were assigned at birth. But for trans people, it doesn’t. This isn’t something they chose it’s who they are.
Being trans is choosing to take hormonal altering stuff, matbe even cosmetic surgery to even genitalia to appear as the other gender.
Even if you don't do that, it is your choice to declare yourself as trans.
'Transition' is a verb, the noun refers to 'the transition'. In the same way 'jump' is a verb but 'the jump/leap' is noun-format. If transitioning is an action as 'transition' is a verb, it follows that the status of being trans relies on chosen actions, not on solely the urge to take said actions.
