You are allowed to post on this no matter what, as long as you obey the following rules:

1) You do not debate topics inside this actual thread, instead you create a thread or debate instead that you're welcome to link to here.
2) If you dislike a topic perhaps finding it irritating, comedic or offensive, you either keep it to yourself or discuss it privately with others. No drama here about things.
3) You keep topics suggested within site rules and not veiled attacks against particular members.
4) You state whether your intent is to debate it, which side you prefer to debate and/or whether you want to vote on it. If you would only debate/vote if it's within a certain range of characters or time-away-from now, feel free to specify that.

This is a very obvious solution I am sure many regular debaters and voters have thought 'should' exist but didn't really make happen yet. I am not some 'genius' for this, it is just going to become an official thread where willing and eager voters meet willing and eager debaters so that debaters can engage on topics at times when the voters interested in those topics are available to vote, without needing it to be 'judge debate' format that has to be unrated or any other such complication.

You should stick to topics that count as Rated debates. No 'rap battles between' or such things here. This is designed to help actual quality debating increase here since the main reason it doesn't is that debaters including me get faster 'burnout' as we realise most debates come down to either a lazy vote or someone 'saving' the other debater from the lazy vote etc.

Please do not say you are interested in a topic here, just for the sake of 'sparking ideas'. This is to be actual topics that if you saw them debated, you'd either engage with as a debater or as a voter (or both).

Are there voters interested in debates to do with showbusiness, as in characters or shows themselves, movies etc?

Are there voters interested in debates on classic cases like designer babies, abortion, gay marriage etc?

What is it that voters here are most interested in? If you could tell, then debaters would better understand how to entertain and appeal.

I don't know. I have never got excited or really wanted to vote on a debate.
It was manly just because I was requested.

That said:
Anything to do with homosexuality, that includes homosexual marriage.
Anything to do with feminism (feminst ideals, etc).
Anything to do with femboys.

Trans community, abortions, standardized testing, rehabilitation versus prison.

I would love to debate any of these as much as voting.

I think I can assume your side is the typical left-wing liberal side of any of those topics?

One thing I found interesting in theory but that I got so bored of that I forfeited into defeat as it was 5 rounds of 30k, is that the core tenet of Feminism (that females are at a disadvantage that needs to be made up for due to drawbacks not just biological but that come with growing up as a girl rather than a boy) doesn't entirely work with Transgenderism, the TERFs are a natural result of a real actual conflict in the theses.

I want voters to say what they want to vote on. That way no matter which topic occurs, there can be a fire in the belly of the debaters as they aren't lowkey thinking 'should I even bother as this may not end in votes'.

What is the formal topic you'd make about rehabilitation 'versus prison'? I assume you believe prison can't be tweaked to rehabilitate.

  • Combat Sports. (MMA & Kickboxing.)
  • Andrew Tate & The Paul Brothers.
  • Movies/TV Shows.
  • The Presidential Election.

(But ask me again in a few months and these options are liable to change.)

Anything science, law, business, technology or conspiracy theory related.  Not a fan of artistically based subjective.  I have terrible taste.    I have degrees in business, law, health, and an AI fellowship at an IV league colleague, so I come with a small bit of book knowledge.   That being said, I learn much when I debate and judge, and that is my journey.

Just so you're aware, it's Ivy League college not IV league colleague. I am just letting you know.

It sounds to me like you'd want topics where the debaters both see their sides as truisms, rather than opinions with nuance.

Maybe the issue is voters are not interested in topics to vote on, then. At least we know now, the issue is pretty incurable.

I hate voting. I think that voters only pollute debates and make people less willing to debate.

Voters should be abolished. There should be just debates, with no voters of any kind.

Most debaters here feel the opposite issue driving them to not want to try hard or debate that often.

Many quit due to it.

They may feel that. However, the truth is that many topics arent even debated because of the existence of voters.

As a debater, you are faced with only two options:

1. Let voters vote in any way and dont attack them.
2. Attack voters and report their votes.

1 causes you to lose debates to those who do attack voters, and to lose debates to troll votes.
2 causes voters to be unwilling to vote.

So really, there is no way in which you can in long term have lots of voters and not lots of bad votes.

The two are in a dialectical struggle.

This thread is not for your issue with voting.

Enjoy forum-debating on other threads and stay out of it.

Please can you list 3 topics each, no matter how obscure, that if the debate happened, you'd definitely vote on it?

As in actual topics written out as titles.

What about some topics that go unorthodox in terms of an actual debate topic?

Which of those do you want to vote on?

Which of those would you like to debate?

Please tell topics you'd definitely vote for if done.

It can be anything, I just want 1 guaranteed vote.

The topic doesn’t matter too much to me.

Recently I’ve been voting if it’s an easy vote to cast. I don’t really have the time to break down competitive debates, just the ones with forfeits, concessions, or one side that barely makes any arguments at all.

That being said, my schedule is starting to free up a bit more, so I may be able to cast one or two votes on a more high-level debate per day.

I don't make a habit of being selective when it comes to topics for which I will cast a vote. I like seeing something that hasn't been done a hundred times before. That's about it.
