@oromagi
As usual, well said.
leaderboards
I personally don't mind people resetting their score. As much as it seems fairly pointless, for the reasons you said.
gaming
I'm only familiar with one instance of concern regarding this. It was not multi-accounting, but it did harm a couple games of mafia as moderation side players limited their speech when a claimed new player was being suspicious...
voting
Thankfully in the last six months, I can only think of one potential violation of this, and at that it was a low impact violation (no attempt to sway the outcome).
User testimony
Any thoughts on the related issue of stalking? As a more minor example, we've had at least one person create new accounts at least in part to tag people again after they blocked him.
report
Do you believe who issued which reports should be kept private? Something which frequently happens right now, is third party reports from outside the conversation; which gives the reported person reason to believe the other person reported them (via all the green reports handled which begin to appear). ... Don't get me wrong, some such reports are very good, but it can still distort perceptions inside a conversation.

A related matter, how do you all feel about privacy of reports?
I would like to be open and transparent on who is doing the reporting. There's even been a couple times I have come very close to revoking reporting privileges (such as the reports which inspired this thread).

I'm seeking feedback on a couple issues, to determine what the general user base would prefer (results of this may end up in a MEEP).
Users may only have one account active at a time. I have worked hard to be respectful of the multitude of reasons someone may wish to switch accounts, and not be the person who says X is now Y. However there's no clear rule for what us moderators should do.
Worse, there are users who are strongly suspected of being previous users. I have generally clarified if there are no credential matches, but this gets into an ugly area when there are such matches but the person privately insists it's a coincidence. I have stuck to advising users to not talk to so-and-so if they're worried, but I have refused to outright share the match; I do however tell the other to keep their distance:
Regarding X,
I must ask that you strictly minimize any interaction with them. Without knowledge of your matching credentials to a certain former user, they identified you as said user; to which there was a very negative and prolonged experience.
There is no loss to this situation, since if you are not that person, then you have no investment with the aforementioned user. If you are whom they believe you to be, then ignoring them will help avoid old habits from which you wish to differentiate yourself.
Out of respect for privacy, the credentials match has not been revealed.
A related problem is when there is a strong match, but the connection is denied, we have not banned the former accounts. It's a damned nuisance. For this I would like to have a simple policy of the suspicion creating a light RO between the connected accounts, and if asked we openly tell people the details of the match with a clarifying statement that it may be a coincidence. ... Whereas if they admit to the connection, their privacy is maintained, but we moderators can properly use context from their past actions and relationships.
So what say you? I'm open to any ideas.

The Church does not make up guidelines
You keep showing more and more guidelines they've made up and later changed.
Ironically with your talk of her, multiple other commentators have spoken against her having spread the good news of the rebirth. Yet Jesus himself trusted her to be the key messenger. ... I need to ask a dumb rhetorical question: Who acted better as apostle of Christ, Mary or Judas? One has the official designation, the other lived up to it (suicide pun intended).Of course when Judas was replaced, candidates drew lots to determine the will of God. It was without any sanction from Jesus that women were excluded... Jesus next did not appear to this new apostle, rather he appeared to a woman to deliver his good news.Ummm... you are making a case against yourself by mentioning the succession of Judas.
How is Jesus post-rebirth immediately showing favor to a woman they chose to exclude, me making a case against myself? Fallible humans did something, and Jesus seemed to shun that decision, opting to chose a woman to be the primary messenger of his rebirth.
The priest stands in Persona Christi and not as himself.
"Not as himself." Exactly. While we could not dress up a donkey and have it stand in the place of Christ, humans are all equally made in the same image of God. Even at the lowest points of humanity, we did not rule out any ethnicity from the priesthood, even while they look physically more different from Christ than another.
As Jesus Himself said that He's the Bridegroom it requires a man to stand in his place.
Jesus used the bridegroom simile related to eating habits. I fail to see the logical connection to him answering a question about food, to him proclaiming that for all time no woman will be able to stand in in for him while we await his resurrection.

It cannot happen. As I briefly mentioned back in #18, "even with the official ruling on the matter, a future pope could easily bypass that by declaring any female candidate is spiritually male for the purpose of acting in the place of Christ."A Pope cannot change things that the Church has already ruled on.
The modern church has changed from the historical church. Some examples off the top of my head: the crusades, the inquisition, and of course pedophilia. To the latter, our current pope disagrees with the prior rulings on what to do about it, and just last year had a summit to which he adopted new rules against pedophiles in contradiction to the old policies of support.
The Church does not make up guidelines,Except they literally do. For a glaring example, notice Jesus with the crown of thorns instead of that awesome pope hat. If they do not make up guidelines, show the part of the bible where Jesus made the official hat declarations?A hat is not part of Catholic doctrine, it is a ceremonial vestment
Wearing those are guidelines which they made up and then follow. You even admit they choose to change them with time. ... With this it is already proven they are doing things Jesus neither did himself, nor commanded of them.
What about Mary Magdalene?
Ironically with your talk of her, multiple other commentators have spoken against her having spread the good news of the rebirth. Yet Jesus himself trusted her to be the key messenger. ... I need to ask a dumb rhetorical question: Who acted better as apostle of Christ, Mary or Judas? One has the official designation, the other lived up to it (suicide pun intended).

I figured I can't write a post in the DP1 forum. Is it because of overloading or is it because I am banned from being on that forum?
If you look at the listing, you'll see a blue eye icon, and if you hover your mouse the alt-text of "Read-only topic" should display.
Technically the final post should have been #170, in which the moderator wrote the bold words "The DP has ended."

Not to mention there having been female Catholic priests before, such as Ludmila Javorová. Later declaring Czechoslovakians unworthy of having received the sacraments, does not change the fact that she was ordained at the time and gave them.
The Church does not make up guidelines,

Warren - Before Warren self-IDed as bulletproof, I was pretty sure he was town. Still, as the most active player and not a douche, he deserves to win even if mafia; so unless there becomes some compelling evidence, I am very unlikely to vote for him. Still, glancing at a photo of his stated character, it looks like a stereotypical strongman (which also means it would be pretty ballsy to claim bulletproof if scum, as there would be a likely counter claim).
Singularity - Negative value to town. Besides, with the wise words: "Never let anyone know what you are thinking," can we really trust a claimed psychic?
Pie and Cookie (wait, there's no I in their name; I've been reading it wrong this whole time!) - Clowning is so far not a strong indicator, and I genuinely appreciate even a low level of activity from people.
User - I'm suspicious of their silence after someone tried to pressure them into full claiming, plus the general thing is saying telling their role would be disadvantageous (#127).
Water - Zero posts, thus our lynch (granted someone mentioned a jailer could be in play, but this isn't quickfire).

Gnostic Gospel of Thomas
For that I have an easy defense: By default, I don't care for fan-fiction, not even really old fan-fiction. For good biblical fan-fiction, I suggest reading Orson Scott Card's Women of Genesis series. Still, not something I'm likely to ever quote as evidence in any religious debate (save for one about better quality of writers available in modern times).
You're not the first person in this discussion to bring up fan-fiction, but you at least aren't mistaking such for the actual content of the bible.
However, back in #20 I went so far as to reject part of the bible that is canon. If I reject canonical garbage inside the bible, I'm of course going to more readily reject outside garage.

the footnote says judging.
In Israel judges was an early name for rulers, which by nature made them act as leaders. Please list how God punished her for violating his will? Oh right, she was honored with military victory.
If we screw up and let women take authority, God will judge us, not force men to rule.
You reconfirming your weird hatred of women is noted. However it is going against the bible, as even Jesus was bound by honour thy father and thy mother, or he was not without sin. He grew up with Mary teaching and leading him. Of course if God hates women like you seem to think, then God would have easily side-stepped their involvement by having Joseph birth Jesus.

Please do tell us how you imagine the bible saying a woman was "leading Israel" does not mean she was a leader?
Created:

@Melcharaz
Your beliefs against God's creations, seems to stem from the assumption that as God made things, God somehow got rapidly worse at crafting...
First off, its not misogny to understand the role of women
Not agreeing with your misogyny, but yes it it indeed misogyny. Misogyny is not defined by if you believe yourself to be correct or justified in your thing against women. To use an extreme example, when China committed infanticide against women, it did not fail to be infanticide just because they looked at women as less than human (or whatever their excuse).
Second. God made man to be the leaders, though he has used women when no man was avalible. A good example is deborah (see judges 4) and it was barak that still led the armies.
Obviously if God intentionally uses certain women to be leaders over men, it's not a fixed state. Otherwise God would intervene and make the men be better leaders, such that no woman would even need to lead.
Thirdly, you can believe what you want. But catholicism doesnt lign up with sola scriptura (scripture soley or ownly)
Nor should it. Sola scriptura is not the worst idea in theory, but in practice you get people latching onto any random parts that stand out to them without context... Just scroll up a little for easy examples of how that turns out (not that it always looks like that). Plus going by sola scriptura, if Jesus Christ came back tomorrow, we would have to reject him.
Further arguements i will disregard, unless on topic and can be crossed referenced with scripture.
Wait, you want even more interpretations of it? 🤣

The bible says to not let women usurp authority over man. And the bible says to not add or take away from scripture.
Would it be okay for a man to usurp authority from another man?
If it would be okay, then aside from the bruising of fragile egos, why would it then be wrong for a woman to do likewise?
If it would be okay, then aside from the bruising of fragile egos, why would it then be wrong for a woman to do likewise?
Catholic faith and women in leadership roles is wrong. No tradition should interpret scripture. And no woman should have authority over men.
I disagree with the Catholic faith being wrong, and since I'm not I misogynist I also have nothing against women in leadership roles. I want leaders in leadership roles, and I define leader by things other than penis size.
As for your belief that "no tradition should interpret scripture," you do realize that they by necessity must interpret their scriptures? You even having opinions on it, is interpreting it.

@Trent0405
A woman should feel free to pursue whatever she wants, placing a stigma on women as catholic priests feels unnecessary and borderline sexist. Ultimately, I want people to make their own choices as to how they wish to live their lives, stopping women from becoming priests hinders this wish of mine from becoming a reality.
I am going to offer a mild critique by disagreeing with your "borderline" qualifier. It's direct discrimination on the basis of sex, ergo, sexist.
I would call it borderline were it just no female priests, without a specific rule against it; or even were nuns ranked equal to priests.

I'm comfortable with my vote where it is, as I am not noticing the post in which she admitted it was a bluff (link please?). Plus, I am not noticing anyone else with a reason why we should vote for them.

- If Singularity is not full of shit, best that we lynch scum.
- If Singularity is full of shit, we should lynch her. The fastest way to confirm that she's full of shit, is to lynch someone she's identified as guilty.

One of the best post I have ever read on the whole of the religion forum. Thank you!
You're welcome, and thank you.
I wonder will you be challenged on your opinions such as 1 Timothy being " a garbage book " .
There's defenses of it someone could make. I do use the term in comparison to books which clearly belong in the canon.
or Jesus being simply being yet another pain in the arse "an upstart" agitator and one of many so called Messiahs who failed miserably to deliver "his people" from the Roman yoke.
To be clear, the evidence of him being the Christian Messiah who rose from the dead, often starts with the teachings of Mary Magdalene. Remove the close relation eye witness account, and he would be more likely remembered as just be one more person the Romans crucified.
...
Maybe she is a pagan, Ragnar, was a viking who worshiped Thor and Odin. One god is as good as another.
I'm a hetero cis white guy. I'm Catholic and Pastafarian (if we can't laugh at our own ignorance, we're doing religion wrong). I am quarter viking, and half Irish.
Technically Thor and Odin would be worshiped together, as part of the same pantheon. Kinda like how Christians worship both Jesus, God, and us Catholics pray to the saints from time to time.
Specifically due to the example of Thor and Odin, I will argue that one is not as good as another. Within the same pantheon, Loki is way better than both of them combined. Granted Thor has his moments, like when he murdered his own husband on their wedding night (I genuinely find that story about him to be awesome!).
Further, I would argue some religions are better than others. Case in point, my two oldest brothers were obsessed with the Norse Gods, and how they had to die in battle to go to Valhalla. One of them practiced his warrior techniques by murdering the family pets. Okay, he probably would have turned out as varelse anyway; still, giving him a belief system which encourages pursuit of being a psychopath, fed the fire so to speak.

"Both biblical axioms cannot be true at the same time, therefore, now what?!"
Technically the bible can self contradict without paradox. It's a matter of faith similar to 2+2 equaling 5 (Orwell).
Was Jesus the blood son of Joseph to which Matthew spends a lot of time focused on, or was he the son of God? Clearly the same book of the bible would have us believe both are true, even while Joseph definitely played no role in getting Mary pregnant.

1 Timothy 2:12 New International Version (NIV)12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man, she must be quiet.
IMO 1 Timothy is a garbage book. About the only good defense of it I've heard, came from a nun teaching at my school. It being a letter responding to questions, to which we don't have the other half of the conversation, and thus are forced to assume context to apologize for it.
I firmly believe it is not an inspired book, as chiefly evidenced by the direct harm it causes. Further had Mary Magdalene (a woman) not taught about Jesus' resurrection, we wouldn't even be having this conversation about some upstart the Romans killed.
1 Corinthians 14:34 New International Version (NIV)34 Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says.
This is again a letter to which we have missing context. This one isn't as bad, because we have other context from the same one, in which the author is fine with women prophesying and praying aloud in church, without any censorship. Which goes hand in hand with what you mentioned from Acts.
