C'mon Castin. You know you secretly like the Biebster. Admit it!
I do not know this man making claims about me. Furthermore I saw him escaping in a straitjacket from a gated facility, pursued by two men in orderly scrubs.

Clearly he's very patriotic, but I think his act is pretty over the top. He seemed to just impersonate the perfect right-wing strawman.
But it looks like a German man was recently stabbed to death by two migrants in a brawl, so it seems unfair to say his concerns are entirely divorced from reality. Pretty disturbing to see Germans protesting his murder by marching around giving the Hitler salute, though. These guys were just waiting for an excuse to riot and beat up migrants.

I really wish you'd stop dragging DDO history into DART so negatively, man. It's dynamite. Just because it worked in your benefit once doesn't mean it won't blow up in your face if you keep lighting that fuse. Because of the inflammatory nature of personally insulting people over things they didn't even do here, I'm concerned the administration will label you as an inveterate troublemaker and ban you permanently.

You have already been banned once because, and only because, you were using the more aggressive and violent language. Do you want that to happen again? I don't. Deescalate. You have to stop jumping from zero to eleven when personally criticized. All of us get personally criticized here. I've been called an idiot and a sad loser. Eth has been called -- well I'd need several libraries to cover everything eth has been called.

I honestly couldn't find much fault in your arguments there, eth. In my opinion, those things do contribute to trouble. The problem is that none of them is a slam dunk ban or even a slam dunk warning. So how do you moderate it? Should there be a limit on how many posts you can make in 6 hours? Is "God does not exist" a threat or a personal attack? Should expressing dislike for a certain forum be against the rules? You'd almost need a very active ref who can spot problem behavior as it arises and hand out commands on a case by case basis. And even if you had that, people would quickly start bitching and calling the ref the Gestapo.

You consider the aggressor and the one who started it to be two different people. Interesting...If what Ethang stated is true, then Bench originally initiated the conflict i dont know when. However, who originally initiated, and who continues to be the aggressor and reinitiator of that conflict outside of that original instance and the thread it was contained, is the harasser.ΒEx: Person X initiate conflict with Person Y on A thread.ΒPerson Y then reinitiates that conflict on B, C, and D thread. So even though they didn't "start" it, they are reinitiating it in unrelated areas that have zilch to very little to do with the original conflict.Consider an individual thread as a room. If two people are hostile towards one another in Room A, but then exit room A, and later on both end up in Room B and one of the two reinitiates that conflict, what happened in Room A is irrelevant, to the reinitiation in room B.Does that make a little more sense? Aggressor =\= the one who initiated necessarily. It often is, but that isnt the same as always. This is one of those situations where the two are not the same.ΒOnce the block functionality is a-ok this stuff wont be much of an issue anyways π€
π π I love how you can dissect and analyze even, like, the science of flamewars.
I think post #5 pretty clearly kicked this off, but I also didn't think it was a big deal or a reason to get off the couch. Not that there are many things I consider a reason to get off the couch. I'm not being pessimistic, I'm being realistic (said all pessimists ever). Also I'm not the role model for anything and if anyone tries to shine the spotlight on me I will cut them in the face and run away. Hissing.
To be serious, it's not that I'm saying this forum shouldn't have standards of conduct or that those standards should not be enforced. But I do think there will always be dislike, that it will always create tension, and that there will always be people who perceive offense and retaliate.

The idiot first posted to me, with an insult.ΒWas that here? I didnt see that in this thread π€. Initiation of conflict isnt usually, if ever, counted all the way back to what originally started the harassing behavior. Insults arent a violation of ToS, harassment is.ΒLike I said, if you limit it to a jab here or there, ur fine. Bench may very well have started this all originally, thats irrelevant to who is the one primarily continuing that original conflict in other threads independent of the one where the original insult was made π€
You consider the aggressor and the one who started it to be two different people. Interesting... π€

The top three violent serial killers by body count are all from Colombia, according to Wikipedia. They're all believed to have killed over a hundred victims, and they all killed primarily children.
One of them was released in 1998 and his whereabouts are unknown.

@EtrnlVw
You can't know that the way a serial killer behaves in prison, before cameras, before a parole board, before any body of people he's looking to sway, is any indication of his true nature. They'll say or do whatever they need to get what they want. It's difficult to truly know what they're thinking or feeling.
But from the sounds of it, Panzram reminds me more of Richard Ramirez. Total malevolence, total honesty about it. But I have to say the master manipulators who lie and put on a normal charming face freak me out more.
If he'd said "I've sodomized a thousand men", I could accept that just being an expression. Instead his exact words seem to have been "I have committed sodomy on more than 1,000 male human beings". Odd choice of words. But I've only just found a few of his papers, give me some time to take a deeper look.
And you're not dreaming, I'm afraid. It's been reported that Garavito's relationship with his guards is amicable. I think if we cracked open a good many prisons with inmates serving life sentences for homicide, we'd find more than a few inmate/guard relationships that were almost friendly. The guards and inmates probably feel it's the easiest and most mutually beneficial way to get through their day-to-day.

I agree. All I can do is promise to make an effort to not become part of the problem.
But I think we shouldn't get unrealistic expectations. This is simply the nature of the internet. People who don't like each other can't coexist in the same space without creating trouble. We're never going to eliminate the problem completely and I think it's important to have thick skins.

Not to poach ideas, but check out the way quotes are handled here:Better quote systemA quote button for each post where once clicked it'll automatically copy paste the post in the quote format. Its pretty tiring copy pasting multiple posts and the quote thing sometimes takes a while to work.Yeah, that's on the list but I don't like the idea of quoting the full posts, sometimes it makes sense, sometimes it doesn't and often it turns posts into huge ugly sheets of texts. I think I'll make it optional so that you could write a reply manually OR copy paste the full post in a quote, if that makes sense in some situation. Like in this very message haha
You can quote a miles long post in full without it taking up the whole page. There's just a text fade and a "click to expand".

Could there be a clickable dropdown list in the Receivers input field from which we can select usernames we've used before?I am not sure how to merge autocomplete and this feature, I imagine it would take some time to make something like this work properly. I mean, I'd need to keep history of your previous mentions or query the posts that you created before and then separate those by the threads and so on, it's not that hard but it's time consuming so I'll probably get back to in after the most important stuff is done. But I promise that autocomplete will be improved, I know it's far from perfect now ...
Got it. Just wondering if it was possible to select a username without having to type anything. More convenient.

If you care to look it up, you will find that there is overwhelming evidence in the form of artifacts and paintings.I don't Β "proudly" claim........My point is that the Dreamtime was an established religion way long ago and precedes Christianity by some 61,300 years, therefore, what gives Christians, Muslims or Judaists the right to call their belief the one and only religion or that it has any validity whatsoever?
I actually asked because I was reading the Wikipedia page and weirdly it doesn't seem to give much information about how old Dreamtime is. I couldn't be arsed to go on a deeper search which is usually when I start poking people in the thread for lazy-friendly information.
People are free to say anything is the one true religion but I have to admit I find the phrase arrogant and dogmatic. Not to mention divisive. Just my opinion. There's "this is my truth" and there's "this is the only truth". I know which one I prefer. But when many religious people say one true religion, they probably think they're just stating a fact.
It's interesting that humans automatically equate the age of a religion with validity. I've subconsciously done it as well.

I don't see the point. We're immune to radiation and can survive nuclear holocaust, like cockroaches.

I know right, and when you visualize what Jesus was like is it the opposite of this? How the teaching of Jesus ever came to that I have no idea. Β
The dichotomy of Christian piety and papal opulence has indeed been a target of criticism for some time. It does kind of demand an explanation.
My guess would be that hundreds of years ago, a show of opulence wasn't tasteless or over the top. It meant power. Common people could not afford lavish fabrics and dyes, jewels, gold and silver. If you had these things you were demonstrating you were a person of awesome means, and if you didn't have them you couldn't hope to be esteemed. Which is why for hundreds of years rulers posed for portraits wearing the entire contents of a treasure vault. For the church, it meant that for the Christian religion to have real power in the world, the papacy needed to acquit itself with the wealth of kings.

That video was disturbing on so many levels. The baby was obviously getting traumatized being in some strange old guy's face. He's got his hands wrapped around the baby's head, yanking it around too much.
When he slaps the baby you can hear one of the women gasp, but there's weirdly no reaction on anyone's face, they simply close in slowly to pull the baby away. But Father Fuckface clutches it tighter like "no me nice bear" in the creepiest way, until the baby has to be physically pried from him.
I'm hoping he was just mentally impaired somehow.

If you read up on him, doesn't that mean he caught your interest?I knew you were going to ask that lol, "interest" in serial killers sounds a little creepy to me but mostly I'm just being silly I get it. But anyways his confessions are disturbing, I'm going to go out on a limb and say he was serious, have you read anything he wrote? I'm pretty darn good at reading people, there usage of words, emotions and actions ect ect...he was definitely among the most horrifying people that have walked this earth.ΒHis complete disdain and hate for humanity, as he so eloquently puts it in writing, at his level is higher than others I've read about. Just my opinion but even though I don't recommend it, you can read his confessions for yourself and some of those confessions were collaborated if I'm not mistaken. However, his killing spree was perpetrated over serval states in which he got away with. He would sodomize and murder hobos that were traveling the railroads which is why I believe he got away with many of the killings.ΒHowever, if you read the sources available about him he was sent to prisons many times in which he escaped, each time committing worse crimes.Β
The OP did say "caught" your interest.Β π Meaning something that crossed your path, not something you independently went looking for. I think most of us hear about serial killers while we're watching or reading something else, since they're not uncommon in media, and then we look it up.
Anyway, I haven't read his writings yet. I'll try to find them. Just glancing at his claims, I will say that 1,000 instances of sodomy on men, especially if he meant they were all nonconsensual, is hard to believe.
But is there any particular reason Panzram is worse than for instance Luis Garavito or Gilles de Rais?

What do you mean by "address the logical fallacies"? Are you saying all uncertainty about the world is caused by logical fallacies?I don't know if this should go in the science forum, but whatever.Whenever the brain doesn't understand something, it produces chemicals to provide discomfort, much in the way your limbs feel pain if there is something wrong with them. Evolution has given humans this adaptation so that they can be more aware of the actual world they live in. For example, if a caveman doesn't see a panther but he can hear a panther, he immediately discards the first idea that he is safe just because he can't see the threat. The chemicals in his brain force him to resolve that conflict in the perception of the real world. When a person feels pain, there are 2 choices. Address the reason for the pain, or just take medicine to dull the pain. When a person feels uncertainty about the world they also have 2 choices. Address the logical fallacies or escape in a delusion of a God fantasy.God is the chemical that keeps the brain happy and sedated.

Didn't seem like he was talking about accidents. Here, let me put this in perspective. If i don't own a knife... i am 0 times as likely to cut my hand. If i own a knife i am 100,000 times more likely to cut my hand. DUH! If you own something you are something times more likely to hurt yourself with it. Now when you actually crunch the numbers... for accidental gun violence... you actually have .001 percent chance to accidentally hurt yourself. There is a reason the MSM doesn't use percent but something "times" more likely. When you say it that way, the number looks bigger than it actually is. So now, knowing this... what do you think the percent is in regards to your OP? I'm sure it is something on the line of women are .00001% likely to get shot.
