@Wylted
Several studies do show that conservatives are more right brained.

True, but it does matter in the grand scheme of things. One drop of water certainly doesn't make a difference in an entire ocean. Same with voting. There have been interesting cases where races were tied or decided by only 1 vote.

I have autism (seriously) and would strongly object for forced sterlisation of anyone

@Wylted
Wylted, I completely and wholeheartedly actually agree with you. Unless you actually know what you're voting for and who you are voting for, you should stay home.

@Vader
we'll have to see what happens!
I hope dems win Florida gov/senate

@Vader
I doubt it. But yeah Senate will be in GOP's hands. Easily.

@Vader
I disagree. It's almost certainly gonna be R held unless a miracle happens, which I'm hoping it does.

With all the Marylanders, would any of y'all be up for a live meetup and do in person debates?

@drafterman
I didn't know you were in my state.
I voted Hogan in 2014. I would have voted for him again, but my vote for Jealous was more a vote against the GOP

@ethang5
OK. What I'll probably do is design a few concepts and put it up to vote.

We could probably just make this the home page https://www.debateart.com/debates

I'm thinking something along the lines of this https://web.archive.org/web/20120217191029/http://www.debate.org:80/
We really need to get away from the DDO platform though. As it stands, we're basically a carbon copy of DDO.

@drafterman
Thats kinda what I’m thinking. I like the old DDO homepage.

Hello all!
I've been working with Mike on some administrative stuff and one of the things we have been talking about is redesigning the homepage. Right now the homepage looks like crap and we want to make it better. I want to turn it over to the community to get some feedback.
-What information should be on the homepage?
-How should the homepage look?
I appreciate everyone's response.

Yeah. izbo10 is still banned.

Askbob is also back

@bsh1
correct. Mike commented after I said it was not currently possible.

@bsh1
Personal opinion only
I can see the pros and cons of it. One big con I can see is debaters just spam reporting votes that don't agree with them.
Created:
Posted in:
This would be really helpful for mafia purposes! It would also be good for mod business as well.
Created:
Posted in:
Also agreed. I think loosening up the standards may help encourage more voters.
(personal opinion here)

Personal opinion: No removal notice on FF, troll, or conceded debates is good (unless they voted for the forfeiting side). Part of me is inclided to just stop making public notices when votes are sufficeint, but that will possibly decrease transparency

@Wylted
Is this kind of self realization we need. Something BSH1 is incapable of doing. Nobody wants a king who wants to be king. We need somebody this modest as head moderator.
The thing is, wylted, I find that I rush judgement too much. As an example, if I were the head moderator I'd probably have deleted your debate long before Yeshua asked me to. The minute I step over the boundaries for you, you will all be calling for my head.
I do think bsh has been more than fair
Created:

To be perfectly honest, I don't really want the job as head moderator. I have a tendency of being too quick sometimes.
Created:
Posted in:
To make sure this doesn't get burried in all the other threads, per Bsh1's directive, we have recently implemented a few new moderation standards:
- Whenever something is borderline, default to considering it sufficient
- Whenever you remove a vote, explain, very briefly, how the voter could improve
Created:

@bsh1
Yeah I saw that, I wasn't sure if it was completely official policy yet. Also I feel that there should have been an announcement thread made

@Imabench
Do mods have the ability to take away voting rights or has that not been implemented yet?
Yes we do.
Created:
Posted in:
Here is what I am propsing regarding votes (not official policy yet):
1) All "border-line" votes should be permitted
2) When votes are removed, the moderator will explain **how** the vote could be improved to meet the standard; and
3) We will contact the user prior to removing and give them a chance to correct it before we delete it.

As I've been saying all along, a public moderation log.

@RationalMadman
I kinda want to go back to the discussion of a moderator log. I think it would greatly increase transparency of the mod team.
Created:
Posted in:
And I do agree locking is better than a full delete. At least if were wrong we can undo the damage.
Created:

@Castin
This is exactly why I supported a public ban log.

@Imabench
Is this referring to reporting posts and behavior in the forums, or reporting votes on debates? Because I am 100% okay with non-anonymous reporting of debate votes. I've had several great votes on the handful of debates Ive done get reported for literally no reason, even though some of the votes were literally 8 pages long on a google doc.
To be clear: All reports are no longer anonymous. That includes forum posts and debate reports.
