As RM said, it changes the win percentage but not the rating.

If I was working for high-end Illuminati, I wouldn't bother with this website that doesn't even cover its hosting expenses haha
But if you ever meet any of those Illuminati, please leave them my contacts.

Oooh I see what you mean, I think there was some issue with the editor and that was the only workaround I found, I will look into it at some point but this editor is probably the hardest thing on this entire website.

It's exactly as what RM said. I am already -14$ dollars per month for the hosting services, self hosting images would bump the hosting expenses even more and frankly, I am not motivated to pay even more outta my own pocket. Images could be hosted elsewhere but sometimes it's also tricky and another problem is that allowing image posting may screw up the design, i.e. lots of tall ugly posts with only image in them. So it may come in the future, but I am not exactly sure when.

Yeah, the wording is now hopefully better but the logic stayed the same, unrated debates DO NOT change the rating of the participants.

Sure, if I understand it correctly, I can push the change with the next release.

Yeah, sorry mate, that was my mistake, my apologies. Virt already talked to me about my behaviour, lesson learned haha :/

I am afraid I am confused. How do you think we should handle it? Should the ratings change work for "unmoderated" debates too? But then the setting basically becomes useless. Or should it affect something else?
Created:
-->
@RationalMadman
Okay guys, I apologize, I actually had good intentions behind it but messed up.
First of all, I think I messed up the name for this new setting, it should be something much much more clear. My main purpose with this new setting is to prevent "troll" debates and some other kinds of debates ( say this -> somebody please neuter my fucking testicles right out of my fucking nutsack ) from changing the debates ratings since I can barely see how it is fair. So as I mentioned in the release log, everything this setting does is prevents ratings change when the debate finishes. This way, what I want to implement next is to disallow users that don't have at least 2 NON troll debates to vote and for that, we need to separate the troll debates from the normal ones. And that's why I changed the setting for a couple of debates myself but that was a mistake and I apologize for that, that stuff should be 100% handled by the mods.
Anyway, I will rename the setting to make it more clear, that's a big screw up on my part.
Also thanks for pointing out about the release log, the news was added but not marked as published, that's another mistake on my part, sorry for that.

My apologies, my rant was more towards RM and his logic.
Created:

@Speedrace
Oh for God's sake, it's not there because initially we didn't have enough people for it to make sense to be implemented, now it makes sense since we already have lots of people with finished debates and I will add it sooner or later. I can't work on this stuff all my free time so things take time. I can't even get people to donate 30$ to cover the hosting expenses so cut me some slack here.

Well, it's not that difficult but it's lots of typing and designing so I think I will probably add it at some point later in the future.Cool feature with the TU option now. I've always liked that feature on sites. However, it would be more effective imho if we can see who gave us the TU. Bc then you'll know who agrees with your argument or likes your post. I've noticed sites do the simple hover over the likes and a list of the names shows up under... don't know how hard that is to do for you but just one idea if you agree with showing names.

Hi!Suggestion: Change the width of the Debate Preview to match the room given for debate descriptions as seen afterward. ... That or at least the description part of the preview, matching that.
I am afraid I misunderstood your point earlier. Could you please give me an example on how the current width creates problems? Just to make sure I understand your point correctly :)

Frankly, I am not sure, I think I have this stuff set up properly so the email providers shouldn't send the emails to the trash but maybe I missed something, could you please create a topic thread to ask other guys if they have the same issue?I normally get messages when something I was a part of happens on this site which is a good thing. Not all of the messages go to my inbox instead directly go to my Junk. I create a rule but then the same message from the same person ([email protected]) some of it goes to my Junk section. Only some of it. Is this a problem on your side or has someone pointed this out and you already have a way of fixing it?

I wanted to ask your opinion on the winning percentage calculation. So now, I use a possibly naive approach when I simply calculate by the formula:
(won debates / all debates) * 100%
And @omar2345 made a notice about it in the platform development, suggesting that we exclude the tied debates from the calculation and I guess that's one way to go.
The other way to go is to use the formula from here, where the ties are considered as 0.5 of a win.
To provide some examples, imagine two participants that had 5 debates against each other where 2 debates are won by the first participant and the rest are a tie.
Now, the winning percentages would be like this, respectively:
1) Current approach -> 40% and 0%

So what do you think?
My personal view is that the Wiki's approach makes sense and is better than what we have now, but maybe there even better alternatives.

I am not sure about it, it would take quite some time to implement it and wouldn't give so much marginal improvement. I will check if there is an easy way to do it and if there is, then yeah but otherwise, I am afraid there are many more things that need to be done first.

Suggestion to add “helping other people” to the list of life priorities.I expect there’s a reasonable number of people who would list that as their #1 priority in life. I think I would, subject to some constraints about my personal wellbeing and happiness.
We could add it, of course, but there has to be a proper word for it, altruism maybe or something along the lines. Any ideas? :)

I am afraid most of them are free, there's a bunch of the free browser plugins and actually, some browsers even have them built-in, like Opera.People don't get ad block for free. They pay for it. Some of the revenue goes towards those who lost the ads due to ad block. It's what I heard from someone who I think has ad block.
Created:

@Alec
Unless I am seriously missing something, I am afraid it's not how it works with the ads :/The person with Ad block would pay a company to block the ad and then the company pays the owner of DART(you) the money that you would have gotten from the ad that was blocked. Either way, you still get money. When the site gets bigger, I imagine it would cost a lot of money to keep things afloat. Ads probably would be necessary to pay for things when the site gets bigger.

Nope, if the ad has been blocked, the site owner doesn't get anything from the ads provider. Some people have donated and I don't see anything bad about it, I really appreciate it. If you don't want to donate, it's your choice, it's currently a free website but that's exactly the reason why Facebook and other big companies sell your personal data around, because when something is free, you and your data become the product. We don't do anything like that here but we'll definitely need to find a way to support this website if it goes bigger, there's only so much I can and will to cover outta my own pocket. Maybe some paid services, like some decorations or something, idk, I have not thought about it yet.If people use ad blocks, won't they still have to pay money for every ad that is blocked? I don't mean to be rude, but I don't want to donate money. Has anyone ever donated to DART? The option can still exist, I just don't think it will bring in that much money.

@Alec
I don't like ads not only because they mess up the design, which is not perfect as it is, but also because they become more and more useless with every day since lots of people use adblocks and whatnot. But as Virt pointed out, you can always donate money via the Patreon page and they will help us cover the hosting expenses and the extra ( currently anything above 30$ ) I would gladly split between the mods.
Regarding my name, it's not Michael per se, it's Mikhail but I use the former to simplify things for the folk here.

Well, deleting messages can be possible only during the next 5 mins after the creation or something like that, so it's doable in a sane manner.
Regarding the receivers, the notifications is the main problem, if you remove somebody from the list of receivers, they will get notification but will not understand what happened since they are not mentioned in the comment anymore, I am not exactly sure how to go around this one.
