For the record BP can be roleblocked in this bastard ass game. Maf cannot choose what role to block though, just which person, and as per the public description of the roleblocked role they can block only one action (chosen at random by RNG by the mod)
Still getting a (possibly) final VC together.

Attention: Town has only two players remaining. As a result special rule one has been revoked and special rule two has been amended to the following:
No vote by any mafia member shall count unless there is at least one townie on the wagon.
Special rule three is unaffected.

@PressF4Respect
As per the rules in the OP night phases last 48 hours so NP 1 ended about 8 hours ago. I was at work 8 hours ago and was unable to update. I just got off work and will post DP 2 as soon as I can.
Please cease posting and direct any further questions to your PM. Thank you.

Greyparrot was lynched on page 5, he was guilty! The final vote count is as follows:
Pie (1/5) - Virt
VTNL (1/5) - grey
Drafter (1/5) - Zaradi
Grey (4/5) - oro, supa, drafter, F4
I am 100% sure that the underlined portion of this vote count is accurate. I am about 90% sure that the rest is accurate as well.
The NP has begun. Cease posting and submit night actions.

You guys don't have to wait for me to be online to do shit. If someone gets enough votes to get lynched then eceevery unvotes and I read through I would make that person be lynched regardless of the later unvotes.
That is standard for how all mafia game lynches work.
Goddamn nerds.
I will finish catching up in 4 - 12 hours, DP is still closed.

I am starting work in 20 mins and will review the DP during my first break in 4 hours or so to see what you nerds have done while I was gone. I will post DP results at that time or within the next 12 hours or so from this post at the latest if there is too much to go through in one break.

9/2 = 4.5, rounded down is 4...
You are correct. There was a typo in rule one. It should say 'rounded up', as per a standard mafia game.
This DP requires 5 votes to end.
Thank you for pointing out this typo. If any other potential mistakes are noticed please do point them out.

I am very interested to hear your answers. I won't argue with any of your answers, after you answer I will just move on to the next question.
Question one: Would you say that a universe where 100% of the space is suitable for life is proof that universe was created for the purpose of hosting life?

In the DART mafia community there has recently been some disagreement over whether players should simply no-lynch every DP 1 in order to "wait for more info to come out because we can't be sure whether someone is really scum until there is more info lul". The implication here, often not openly stated, is that town should rely more on the power role actions of their fellow townies during the night rather than focusing on actions during the day.
The idea that a towns night actions are more important than their vote is one that is easy to test. Simply design a game where town is given incredibly OP night actions and have their power gimped during the day. And so was born what I have dubbed the "illuminati mafia" game mode, the first mafia game (to my knowledge) where the mafia team start out with a majority.
As mentioned in the signups, OSBM is an open-setup game. The setup is as follows:
(Player 1)
You are a town JOAT. You have the following abilities, three of which may be used each night:
Cop
Vigilante
Doc
1x Dreamer
2x Bulletproof
You may not use the doc ability to self-target. All roles are infini-shot unless otherwise stated. If you choose to use your bulletproof ability you will use a bulletproof shot even if nobody targets you for death. If you choose to use your bulletproof ability you will survive even if multiple people target you for death. You will not be informed whether or not you were shot in the night. You win with the town.
Town starts the game already outnumbered by the mafia. Please read the special rules laid out in the OP of DP 1 carefully.
(Player 2)
You are a town JOAT. You have the following abilities, three of which may be used each night:
Cop
Vigilante
Doc
1x Dreamer

Normal Rules
1) Bold your votes. Unbolded votes will not be counted.
2) Editing and deleting of posts is permitted. It is up to other players whether they wish to find such activity suspicious or not.
3) Inactive players will be given a activity prompt. If no effort to participate is made within 24 hours of a prompt then I will seek a replacement for the inactive player. The definition of inactivity is in this case purely subjective and up to my discretion.
4) Night phases last 48 hours or until all surviving players have checked in with me.
Special Rules
1) The number of votes needed to end a DP is equal to half the remaining players rounded down. However, if all surviving members of the town are on the same wagon or VTNL then that lynch or VTNL will go through.
2) Players on the mafia team will not have their vote counted unless there is a townie on that wagon, in which case for each townie on the wagon one mafia players vote will count.
3) All players votes will appear on vote counts as normal regardless of whether their votes actually count.
If any clarification is needed on these rules please ask me via PM or in the thread.
That is it for rules. Here is the starting player list:
1. Virtuoso
2. Drafter
3. PressF4
4. SupaDudz
5. ILikePie5
6. Grey
7. Speed
8. Oro
9. Zaradi

4. SupaDudz
5. ILikePie5
6. Grey
7. Speed (confirmed)
8. Oro
9. Zaradi (no confirmation needed)

In light of post 32 I will start this game if I receive confirmation of interest from the 7 users I am tagging within 48 hours due to those users having signed up relatively non-recently. I do not want to start a game then just see 2/9 players not able to participate through no fault of their own because they forgot they signed up for the game. This has happened to me before and is not fun for anyone involved.

Hadn't thought of that, would prevent something like a person getting a role PM for a game they forgot they signed up for months ago (has happened to me before).
That is not incompatible with the side-by-side signups though. What do you think of doing both?

@drafterman
I am proposing a "first filled=first played" policy.
Created:
Posted in:
I think we should do this. The original point of limiting signups was because multiple simultaneous games with same players can get confusing. There is no reason I can think of however that we can't have only one game running but have multiple signups. This would mean that players have more choice over what types of games they play, with what mod, theme, etc. I can't think of any reason not to do this.

I will also be waiting on Mharman to confirm due to his recent innactivity. If your signups fill up before he confirms or I find someone else then start your game.

Created:

Speed ping'ed me in the host thread so I thought it was my turn to post sign ups
Speed is a communist.
How do you want to do the games? Do you want me to pause my game?
If you are interested in OSBM then you can sign up and I will send PMs out tomorrow. If not then you should leave yours up and let the players decide which they want by which one they sign up for. That is not the traditional way of things but I think it would be the better way to do it.
Created:
Posted in:
I didn't even notice this until Supa made a comment about it on my sign-ups page.
I wouldn't say my sign-ups have 'stalled'... I have the same number of players signed up as this game has and that is even with this one having Lunatic here after expressing disinterest in the flavor of my game. I literally just need one more player, same as virt right now still needs one more.

The idea of the Prime Directive is inherently immoral, not just the way it is applied. The very idea itself should have been scrapped when the Federation was founded. I would rather see if anyone is interested in debating the topic before going into detail as to why I think this but there are a lot of very good reasons.

@Jeff_Goldblum
-Communication. Radio signals take about 15 minutes to get from Mars to Earth. If people on Mars need to communicate urgently with mission control on Earth, the fastest reply they can expect is in half an hour.
This is valid and for this and other reasons I would agree that a moon base should come before a Martian base.
-Health issues. The 6-9 month journey to Mars in zero G would be bad for travelers' health, not to mention spending extended time with Martian gravity (.4 G).
Gravity can very easily be simulated on the ship en route to Mars. As for the effects of Martian gravity we don't yet know if this is even a potential issue. We know that long term exposure to zero gravity is detrimental to health but we have no idea if low gravity is similarly detrimental or if so what the cutoff for minimum needed gravity is. For all we know Martian gravity might be just fine for a person or long-term exposure to .8Gs might prove just as bad as zero gravity. We simply do not know due to lack of experimentation.
Cost. Space travel isn't cheap. I think the nations of Earth would prefer paying for 3-day trips instead of 9-month ones.
The most expensive part of space travel is getting mass out of Earth's gravity well. The cost of launching cargo into space has dropped sharply in recent years due in large part to the emerging private space industry but is still around $9000 per kilogram I believe (don't quote me on that, I am going off of memory). This is just the cost of getting something off Earth though. Once in space you can go anywhere you want for next to no fuel at all due to the fact that space is so close to being a vacuum that drag is nearly non-existent unless one is traveling at relativistic speeds.
Oh, also, as featured in Ad Astra, you could launch voyages to Mars from the Moon. The benefit in doing this is found in the Moon's low gravity - launching from the Moon requires less fuel than launching from Earth.
IDK what Ad Astra is but this seems silly. Why set up ship building intustries on the moon when you could set them up at some Lagrange point? Just acquire all the needed mass from the asteroid belt, no gravity problems there.

Well that was abysmal town play
Town was severely underpowered in this setup.
Even if both were given a mason pm with each other in addition to their roles they would have been objectively much weaker than mafia. I assume Mharman included a town team purely for flavor.

Aw see I was convinced that you were town based on post 198 even after you claimed mafia which is why I asked drafter who his partner was in post 430 (kind of a silly question to ask if I believed your claim). I changed my mind after he did not respond to my post (which he had not at the time though he has since) because I assumed that his not responding was due to you being his partner and outting yourself thereby making drafter believe that answering my question was unnecessary.
