More landfills, preferably the ones with the modern codes like rubber linings. Less recycling of most plastic, which goes straight into the ocean.

More aggressive federal controls to prevent wildfires including clearing out accumulated deadwood and controlled burns. Privatize this job if the government is inadequate. Have lawyers oversee the privatization with broad tort powers.

All coal burners must have scrubbers. Mandatory flaring on all LNG drilling.

@n8nrgmi
so if you think there are viable options for changing climate change, why do you continue to talk about how some advocates 'dont walk the walk' and how other countries are just going to pollute anyway, or pretend like there's no need to do anything? why dont you embrace the climate consensus, and need for change, and just vary on how you want to do it?
Because theres literally zero reasons to worry about armageddon if the people advocating armageddon act and behave like it's a bullshit prediction.

How many influential people do you know have invested in a biodome to prepare for the end of the world? Zero? Yep.

How many scientists have isolated themselves from the ignorant masses and built survival arks. Zero? Yep.

We are herd animals and we follow the leaders of the herds. If they don't give a shit, I won't give a shit.

People are blowing tons of cash on bottled water...

This is hilarious considering most bottled water comes from water treatment plants and not wells.

Not really if it's more economically feasible to relocate. Otherwise, enjoy the beach houses while you convince others the world is ending.

Al Gore did something about climate change. He bought a beach mansion. Why you ask?

Because it doesn't take a partisan conservative to figure out that climate change =/= climate doom.

You are missing the trillions of dollars loaned, gifted, or guaranteed to failed banks.

While the direct cause of the bank failures may not be all of Bush's fault for the existence of policies encouraging risky loans backed by the government, Bush did absolutely nothing to fix those policies nor did he hold any of the banks accountable for relying on the government for welfare.

In Naval nuclear power school, we all got 99 percentile on the ASVAB. The real bragging rights were how well we did on the nuclear supplementary test they gave us before boot camp.

Most well water naturally tastes like crap. Nature is full of natural toxins.

If you aren't getting water from a water treatment plant, you are retardedly trusting nature to keep you healthy.

Nature is deadly.

This is where the whole "greater good" argument falls apart. There is no nation on the planet in a position to force China to not emit 3x USA's CO2 emissions. So it doesn't matter what the greater good is, only what is possible matters.

USA is already "doing" it by decreasing CO2.

What are you going to do about China and India? Why are you willing to sit back and watch them destroy the planet while doing nothing to stop them?

Even if the USA went carbon zero, China will still have 3x the current USA CO2 emissions in your lifetime. Let that sink in, that is THREE USA's worth of CO2.
What are you going to do about it?

China and India are clearly free-riding by increasing Fossil fuel consumption while the USA decreases.

What are you going to do about those free-riders?

I was looking at that graph and noticed something neat. China currently has 2 times the CO2 output of the USA, and is on track for 3x CO2 output within your lifetime.

Even if USA went to "zero" CO2, the planet is already fucked.

If you are all in on climate change destroying the planet, we should already be at war with India and others.

I'm talking about now. If America would have minded its own fucking business, the war would have been over years ago and the region much stabler. In a way, America is partly responsible for the Syrian migration crisis destabilizing the EU by prolonging the civil war unnecessarily.

So you admit theres nothing at all that 1 billion people can do to stop the 5 billion people in emerging industrial nations from increasing fossil fuel usage.

Except for riding your bicycle in the snow and eating a soyburger.

No, you put the murderers in prison. Are you willing to put 5 billion people in prison for destroying your planet?

Are you willing to go to war with developing nations that show no sign of slowing their fossil fuel usage in the slightest to save the planet?

Soyboy army assemble!

(who cares if you are outnumbered 5 to 1)

Russia wouldn't even be there if America minded its own business in the first place.

Also how are we supposed to stop the predicted fossil fuel increases in China, India, and Africa...all of which are experiencing their own industrial revolutions requiring massive amounts of fossil fuels but their usage is magnified by their relatively much larger populations than the USA...at least 5 times more people in those emerging economies than those living in the USA and Europe combined....

Do we just docilely accept the damage these countries are inevitably going to do to the planet while we ride our bicycles in the snow munching on soyburgers?

Trump is the polar opposite from 43 when it comes to Global military interventions. His record speaks volumes with his drawdown out of Syria and his current negotiations with the Taliban to draw down in Afghanistan. Trump is the least interventionist meddler since before FDR....that's a hell of a long time ago.

You seem to have issues trusting scientists - despite the entire modern world being built on science - and have no problem believing groups that are even less trustworthy.

I trust scientists who are not funded by the government.

And also ones that don't have a monopoly on armageddon scenarios.

If your willing to believe that the entire scientific community has been engaged in a massive orchestrated shill effort for the last 40 years...
Most scientists are political scientists paid by the government to reach whatever conclusion the government wants. Especially the AOC "the world is going to end in 8 years" crowd.

Ask that group of scientists exactly who pays them to do what they do. Do you even know?

Consensus isn't just that group of scientists that supports your narrative of a tyrannical "benevolent" government suppressing freedom.

Or we can ask: why must the government fund them? Is it possible to fund these charter schools where the government has no influence on how these schools are regulated?

The first step to becoming more like Sweden would be breaking the teachers union monopoly blocking the privatization of education. Current laws mandate compulsory membership into the teacher's union upon employment at government schools with no right-to-work relief.
