This is exactly my point. You can’t pretend to value the rule of law when you show yourself to be more concerned with abusing it to exact revenge than to focus on ensuring it stays protected.And if you don’t value it then you have nothing to be outraged about in the first place other than the sting of having been defeated, which is a pretty terrible talking point to convince people to support your cause, which is why you need to pretend to be outraged over something else.
So it’s not okay to call out the Barbarians for breaking into Rome, and we should just sit here and do nothing. Gotcha.
Well first off because illegitimate requests should be ignored. This is like asking why the pentagon doesn’t give us full access to their video archive to prove flight 77 crashed there.
That makes no sense. There is a direct reason—whether Biden is the feeble old man that Hur said he is. Biden denies it. The tape either proves him right or wrong. Americans deserve to know.
Second, because the Justice department has an obligation to protect the integrity of future investigations. As Donald Trump taught us, there really is no mechanism to enforce ensuring that presidents will cooperate with special counsel investigations. If the precedent is set that the opposing party can demand that every minute of tape of their interviews be released publicly that pretty much guarantees that no future president will cooperate.
But the transcript was already released. And all of Nixon’s tapes were released. There is no “precedent.” Executive privilege is designed to prevent that release of items that would interfere with the operations of the presidency and separation of powers. Biden willingly already released the transcript and there is nothing of harm there. So why not the tape? Or is Biden and the DoJ guilty of altering the transcript and tapes, just like Nixon?

Why is it illegitimate to request testimony that a President gave in his criminal investigation by a special counsel.

What integrity? They already released the transcript with the information. What information that needs integrity is remaining that’s not in the transcript but is on the tapes?

But the transcript was already released…Are you saying that the transcript is inaccurate and DoJ purposefully left things out that are damaging. Otherwise there is no other information that is damaging to integrity.
We also already know what happens when Presidents refuse to comply. Nixon found that out the hard way.

What's really on the Biden tapes? The same damn thing we’ve already been made aware of through the transcripts and through the testimony of the special counsel appointed by Donald Trump. The only reason republicans want this is because they want to search for a soundbite they can use to slander Biden. It’s pathetic and this attempt to ask for something with no valid reason and then act as if the DOJ’s refusal to play their silly political game is somehow suspicious is just stupid.
So why not release the tapes? Oh, maybe because it will really show why Hur thought no jury would convict a bumbling old man like Joe Biden. The DoJ already admitted in court filings that they selectively edited the transcript to remove fillers and stuff like that. Don’t you think Americans deserve to know whether their Commander in Chief has the mental capacity to answer questions and not forget about things related to his own son. If he forgets that, what if he forgets the nuclear codes. You can call it politics all you want, but Americans have a legitimate interest in knowing whether they can be safe under another Biden administration.

Welcome to Pie’s Recycled Roles Mafia. This was inspired by Lunatic’s recycled game (both the old one and the new one). As usual, this will be a Role Madness game, meaning there are NO VANILLAS. Since this is a recycled roles game, there is NO THEME SPLIT.
Each of you is a character/role from one of the games I have hosted. Each player is from their own game, meaning that there is no player with a character/role from 3 games (I have hosted a total of 12 games).
To be somewhat fair to mafia, I have given them the opportunity to try to guess games that I have not taken characters/roles from. They will have two such opportunities to ask this question at any point, and I will truthfully answer each time.
Just some quick rules:
1) No editing or deleting posts of any kinds
2) No copy/pasting your role PM (please paraphrase)
3) No cryptography of any kind
4) No communication outside of the mafia game
5) No liking/upvoting posts after you die
I reserve the right to add any other rules that are commonplace that I may have forgotten to list.
