One 'does hear about rich people who abuse drugs, depressed, try to kill themselves, divorce, and whatnot,
Though I couldn't talk percentages,
I've read before, that there tends to be a threshold,
When more money doesn't add significantly to happiness,
I'd imagine the money before that threshold, eliminates many base problems people have, safety, food, shelter,
But life still has many other needs.
Hm, it's also more 'celebrities, than 'working rich people I hear that though,
Whether because 'celebrities have less meaning more stress,
Or because paparazzi spotlight is more on them, I couldn't say.

If people vote against the legalization of (Insert Drug)
It isn't 'necessarily that they want someone to go to jail for (Insert Drug) use or possession.
I'd imagine,
Many times they just don't want their kids or community to have easy access to it,
Sure people argue outlawing causes criminal producers,
But legalizing a drug like Croc for instance,
Be like legalizing slow painful suicide kits in stores.
I'd have rather marijuana laws, 'just resulted in the destruction of any marijuana, rather than jailing individuals with it,
Losing one's purchase of weed, is kind of like a fine.
Course marijuana is legal now (Some places), so eh.

Sometimes I think a category has gone too many days without activity,
So I read some old threads,
And find my mind sparked at times, of opinions, curiosity.

It 'would be nice, to retire early in life,
Takes money to make money, even in just investments, so sooner one has money, sooner it can ease life.
But,
I also take the view, I never know when I'm going to die,
So I don't plan far ahead,
Which hurts a 'bit, when I 'reach ahead,
But I don't go 'too wild,
A lazy ant,
Rather than a lazy grasshopper, leaves one with 'something, to tide the winter.

I've thought before to myself though,
It's odd I don't hear or see more 'clans,
Clans of families I mean,
'Assuming it's a family you can trust,
Money pooled, multiples quickly, by the number of family members,
And, as said earlier, money to make money.
Well, 'can make money without money, but easier with money.

A value 'has to be met, perhaps, for an action to occur.
But one can be unhappy, yet act for others, maybe.
I don't think it's all 'that wrong to feel happy about helping others, but it can cause or imply at times, that the deed is for oneself, more than others.
Though I 'do think again, that a value 'has to be met, for a choice to occur, even be it inaction, maybe.
The claim, I think, is that everyone seeks to satisfy something within themself by their action,
Honor, empathy,
I suppose it's just that the word selfish, has such an ugly look to it.
Though,
What 'matters perhaps isn't the fact that part of an individual must be moved.
Without senses, without external stimuli, how would we act?
An appreciation of warmth,
An appreciation of other's being warm,
Either value can be satisfied, can be within a person,
. . .
What does it mean to be righteous?
To help others in a bad spot,
The value in oneself is being satisfied,
An internal cry of ought, to an outside not.
A frightened person, who steps between a bully and their victim, wanting to fulfill their empathy for others, doesn't see so bad as,
A bully stepping toward their victim, wanting to fulfill their ego's desire of perceived importance by others.

"The Donbas formed the historical border between the Zaporizhian Sich and the Don Cossack Host. It has been an important coal mining area since the late 19th century, when it became a heavily industrialised territory.[13]
In March 2014, following the Euromaidan protest movement and the resulting Revolution of Dignity, large swaths of the Donbas became gripped by pro-Russian and anti-government unrest. This unrest later grew into a war between Ukrainian government forces and Russian and pro-Russian separatists affiliated with the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk "People's Republics", who were supported by Russia as part of the broader Russo-Ukrainian War. Both republics went unrecognized internationally until their recognition by Russia in 2022.[14] The conflict rendered the Donbas split between Ukrainian-held territory, constituting about two-thirds of the region, and separatist-held territory, constituting about one-third. The region remained this way for years until Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, including the Ukrainian-government controlled part of the Donbas, in February 2022."

People can make errors,
Play politics to avoid blame,
Intentionally test boundaries.
Mr Zelensky said he had received assurances from his top commanders that "it wasn't our missile".
I can't see into his mind, or be a fly on the wall of what was said behind closed doors.
. . .
I imagine people support Zelensky, as Russia is invading Ukraine,
Without decent reason or provocation, say many,
In terror and pillage, say many.
Though that's not to say people support WW3.

'Bit too Pro Iran, but explains history, lights on events very well.
The point about technology outpacing society, is an interesting thought.
I 'would imagine it an irritant,
To trade much wealth, for the ability to mine resources in one's own country,
But Iran 'was doing better for it, than without it.
Of Kings,
And their wealth,
True in a fashion,
But people also 'accept such at times, if the people are also doing well.
I find it peculiar, 'how outraged people are about Russia influence on America,
As though people are blind to how 'much countries interact, influence, including the United States.
Influence being good or bad, depends on goals of the influenced, views one has, goals view of influencer.

Likely if we were more exact with our language,
It'd take us much longer to say exactly what something is.
As, I'd still see a barren man or woman, as a man or woman,
But it's true they wouldn't fit into definitions of male and female, that focus on being able to produce kids.

If sex is a social construct,
Why not being human, a social construct,
Sure one can acquire rabies, or live in the forest without clothes,
But it seems silly to me,
And such a person 'still wouldn't be a rabid wolf,
Or a forest dwelling monkey,
They'd be a human with rabies,
Or a nude forest dweller.
Though other adjectives present themselves of course, as people see fit in the moment,
Hm, I'm reminded of dehumanization in war,
Refer to the enemy as animals, because of a goal or wanted perception,
But what they 'truly are has not changed,
Just one's ability to war with them, by the changed perception,
But then I struggle again, with defining 'anything,
Of holding any fact as objective,
Then spitefully claim why any perception 'askance I ought accede.
Created:
Might be 'everything is a social construct, in my view,
But it's impractical to go about life, in such a way.
Sex exists in humans, pretty regularly,
Male and female, though as others have said, rare conditions exist.
A more visible condition, unrelated to being this or that sex, would be,
People are able to 'see that something is wrong,
Same can be said of some conditions of being this or that sex,
People 'claim that gender dysphoria, is visible in the brain, can Google these claims,
And maybe I haven't researched enough, but I haven't heard conclusive proof myself,
Such also doesn't explain people 'without those brain signs, who still want their sex changed.
But sex has been built strongly into human culture,
If we were like some other animals, and had a history of changing/acquiring other sexual characteristics, maybe our culture would be different,
But we don't,
And in many areas, bathrooms, sports, military,
A clear distinction is made between the sexes.
. . .
I come back to social construct,
Not eating dogs is a social construct,
In humans dressing this way or that way, is seen as masculine, feminine,
But effeminate 'Guys and masculine 'Girls already exist,
Because 'places in society were a social construct, though women need not pretend to be men, or men pretend to be women, in my book.
A tomboy, is just a girl.
A female warrior, is just a female warrior.
I imagine there's examples of boys with girly interests,
But western society has shifted a fair bit, even before transgenders started talking so much.
Where many roles are not stopped by sex.
But, it 'looks (I don't know)
That transgenders want to go beyond being able to wear dresses or makeup,
They want to 'be the other sex, and be referred to as the other sex.
I just don't like doing that,
And I'm glad that science doesn't exist to the point, where I'd logically have to admit, they are something else,
Not because I hate transgender people,
But I think people get used to facts of life, as the way situations 'ought be, though 'claims of life, regularities of life, might be more accurate.

One could argue the Government takes the right of people to act according to their own moral, ethical, codes, beliefs.
"In May 2016, the federal government began implementing a mandate that would require a doctor to perform gender transition procedures on any patient, including a child, even if the doctor believed the procedure could harm the patient. The mandate required virtually all private insurance companies and many employers to cover gender reassignment therapy or face severe penalties and legal action."
If it forces a private hospital to preform a surgery, the hospital thinks wrong.
. . .
I did like your post though, #45
I don't recall if I've ever said myself for or against adult's being able to get sex changes.
. .
Still, I'd suppose a reason people might allow a rhinoplasty, but not a sex change,
Is they see it as a lesser and more normal surgery (Normal is subjective)
If there was a kid who insisted he needed tattoos to be himself, I think people in current society, would 'still disapprove of allowing it.
Or if some guy insisted he really had three arms, and wanted to force a hospital to attach a third one to his body,
Hm, except it's 'more than that, perhaps that example isn't abnormal enough.

People's tolerance of different beliefs and actions only go so far.
"This burning of widows is your custom; prepare the funeral pile. But my nation has also a custom. When men burn women alive we hang them, and confiscate all their property. My carpenters shall therefore erect gibbets on which to hang all concerned when the widow is consumed."
I don't mean this as an insult,
It's just an example that occurs to me, from time to time,
Of when people find other's actions unacceptable.
And perhaps so, if people do not hold religion as value or truth,
Conflict will come between them,
But of the religions that encourage circumcision,
'Specifically in the case of circumcision as compared to sex change operations,
I do not think it unreasonable for them to be for one and against the other.
Created:

@#86
While not arguing whether that is true or not,
I argue it is irrelevant to the question posed by the thread,
While the religious have a reason to follow circumcision,
They'd 'not have a reason to follow sex change operations, I would think.
Created:
Posted in:

@RationalMadman
But the religious folk believe in the Bible,
Which doesn't have any passages encouraging medical operations changing one to male or female, (That I know of)
So it'd be reasonable for you to be against circumcision,
And reasonable for them to be for it, I'd imagine.

Ah, something like this then,
"After five hours of tense testimony and protests, the Florida Board of Medicine voted Friday to start drafting a rule that would bar all minors in the state from receiving puberty blockers, hormone therapy or surgeries as treatment for gender dysphoria."
It's an odd problem in a way,
I 'do find the argument convincing, that sex change operations would have more effect during an individuals development, than after they are fully mature.
'But,
I don't agree with the claim that some people 'have to be their opposite sex, to live a happy healthy life,
I am aware that there are some studies, that claim such,
But I don't recall hearing anything conclusive yet, that puts it beyond 'claims (From my perspective)
Or it might be that I disagree that they are in such numbers,
I admit that unusual cases exist, below is about puberty, rather than one sex or the other,
. . .
People 'generally believe,
That kids are too young to drink, drive, sex, have a job, vote, soldier,
Which 'functionally is wrong,
But the too young argument is more about them not being developed enough to have a decent equilibrium or understanding,
I say equilibrium, because childhood is development,
Hormones, confusing,
New basic concepts, experiences, confusing,
Even something as basic as getting along with other people, a child hasn't experienced yet,
Conjecture on my part,
But I assume adults 'less often push one another over to steal their toys.
This is not an attempt to talk down to you
I am aware that your age 'might be below 18,
I don't really remember 'thinking all that much until I was 18,
Before then I mostly just focused my actions, imagination on 'reading, video games, playing,
I didn't think 'why that much, that I recall.
So I think you're 'much more thoughtful that I was at your age, assuming you're 17 or below.
. . .
But, it's hard to force people into an action they think is wrong,
Hence why I like a 'bit, laws varying by community/state,
Of course people are unwilling to allow too 'great a variation,
Such as a state saying that want to ritualistically sacrifice people to the Moon, Though there's an argument for consensual sacrifice I suppose,
But anyway,
I'd suppose the legislation, 'maybe the people in Florida,
Think that sex changes are wrong in general,
To allow parents easy access to it,
. . .
There 'are parents, of questionable rights as parents,
Who say normal kids can be 'whatever sex they want, or encourage it,
I say encouraging is bad, because that kid is likely to be ostracized at school,
If they 'really did have some condition, I can understand encouraging it,
But it's a bit hard to 'tell, I'd think,
Oh sure, people say trust the doctors and psych people,
But pure trust isn't good,
Sure trust the science,
But also trust that crazy people can be in authority, or crazy ideas in authority, History is chalk full of such, 'Even in recent history (Last 500 years).

A fair point,
I'd agree it's questionable whether the creation or bringing, of newcomers into the world, is for their benefit.
But I'd argue one they 'exist,
Selfless acts by parents, society, can occur(Depending on times and society)
Selfless as we commonly mean it I mean,
Rather than us getting into a conversation on whether any act can be selfless.
. . .
There exist parents who will starve themselves to afford food or toys for their children,
Who will fight wild lions, to save them,
Who take on heavy dangerous work, to nourish them,
Sleepless nights caring for them,
Take on debt, that they receive education, opportunity,
Go to war, to protect them.
One 'could argue that they do this for selfish reasons, such as being taken care of in old age, or having any extra source of money,
But again,
I am arguing for selfless as we more commonly mean it,
A person dead from lion or war, cannot collect on investment,
Many parents in modern countries create their own safety nets for old age,
More money could be saved without a child, less heartbreak.
By this, I argue parents 'do often have a selfless interest in their children.
Created:

@oromagi
Good point,
If one assumes that we are acting in the interest of the newcomers,
Which of course we 'are, commonly speaking.
But people 'do place high priority on that education being loyal to one's own ideals, tribe,
Partially out of loyalty to tribe, I imagine,
Partially just happens,
Partially beneficial to have connection to a tribe,
In this sense, circumcision is not mere aesthetic,
It serves a purpose of cultural attachment, which I argue is a positive, a benefit, in their interest,
Also the whole Jewish Covenant thing,
Though I suppose that doesn't really apply to 'other people as a reason,
New Testament arguing against it, what.
Hm, but the above is my argument for Jewish people,
For people not Jewish, it's not really a necessary of Covenant or cultural mark, I'd think, 'maybe.
Which only leaves the medical reason for the West, as is shown in history,
Though a number of their reasons are zany by modern preferences,
And the medical community has not a consensus one way or the other, that I'm aware of,
In response to your natural is better argument,
I suppose I'd argue, that in certain locations and levels of technology, It 'would be an acceptable practice. 'Even 'modern 1st world countries and technology.
"The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) male circumcision policy1 states Existing scientific evidence demonstrates potential medical benefits of newborn male circumcision; however, These data are not sufficient to recommend routine neonatal circumcision. All studies that have examined the association between UTI [urinary tract infection] and circumcision status show an increased risk of UTI in uncircumcised males, With the greatest risk in infants younger than 1 year of age. Evidence regarding the relationship of circumcision to STD sexually transmitted diseases in general is complex and conflicting. "
. . .
Though, I admit I dislike the medical argument myself,
As I don't much 'like lasik surgery, designer babies, aborting fetus with minor abnormalities, transexual surgery, teeth braces.
But I 'do think there is an argument, can be made.
. . .
Still, my main interest is my argument that people place a high priority on their culture, in the education of newcomers,
Because they view it in the newcomers interest,
For you say yourself,
"I don't think "no government" is a viable option for human society and wherever government falls apart- warzones, mostly, human societies revert to murder, rape, and slavery with remarkable speed."
Of which I conflate government and culture, tribe.
'Maybe I do so wrongly.

Understandable,
That people would see some extreme actions in war, as necessary,
Though I still disagree with 'no mercy.
If people can be too far away from a situation,
I'd argue they can be too 'close to a situation as well,
That it'd be better to take a balanced approach, than go all in, for one or the other.
I'd argue,
It's questionable whether some actions 'are necessary or likely for victory,
Questionable whether they are the morally right action,
Questionable whether victory or actions, may not prove Pyrrhic.

I don't know the law very well,
Or the specifics of trans health care,
"Federal and state laws - and, in many cases, the U.S. Constitution - prohibit discrimination in health care and insurance because you're transgender. That means that health plans aren’t allowed to exclude transition-related care, and health care providers are required to treat you with respect and according to your gender identity."
Is the first result, when I Google "trans people want the right to healthcare"
I could probably research this more,
But if it's a complaint you have, I've imagine you have a source or incident in mind.
. . .
I don't really 'like tax paid health care much, myself, in general.
I don't agree with people in prison getting sex changes.
I don't really see sex change as a vital change for people out of prison either,
Though it might be I am underestimating the number of transgender people,
Or I might not be realizing that sex changes are 'good for some people.
. . .
Oh, I forgot about Trump,
After I Googled "trans people lose health care"
"On June 12, the Trump administration eliminated federal protections against discrimination in health care for transgender people. This means that transgender Americans can be denied access to health coverage and care – simply because they are trans."
. . .
But then, after I Google "biden reinstates trans health care"
'this article says,
"The US Department of Health and Human Services announced today that it is reversing a Trump-era decision that created sweeping policies that allow discrimination in the name of religious freedom."

But it's hard to call them memories, as the 'true pictures in my mind have been forgotten,
Instead I feel as though I have memories that have been transcribed and copied multiple times,
That 'exact truths of them, are doubtful.
I remember being in a bathtub, with a bath toy, plastic shapes of various shapes colors, that socketed into each other, and could be taken apart,
I remember throwing up, from being on a playground spinner/merry go round,
I remember one of those glass beads, you find in fishbowls sometimes, though I am unsure of it's color, I remember it as green.
But as I said earlier, the memories have become vague over time,

Would be people being born naturally to be gay or transgender,
If I had a kid who was gay or transgender, would I reject them?
. . .
Of course I don't plan on having kids,
And think a fair bit of nurture goes into sexual preferences for many people, though perhaps not all.
Then again, some people are born mentally challenged, and are denied certain rights here or there,
Then again, that's a different value,
Whereas gay/transgender is more. . . Aesthetic, I suppose.
Be like rejecting or making a second class citizen, a person with some physical mutation.
Sounds 'real petty,
Well, petty, assuming one doesn't live in some Eugenic society,
And assuming that objective art standards exist,
Though really there can only be 'percentages, 'IF art values exist in humans.
'Still going to be outliers.
. . .
I suppose one could argue people with any X, be it glasses, skin, hair color, voice tone, eyes,
. . .
Hm, is it my nihilism again?
I find 'OUGHTS, difficult,
I find it easier to say 'OUGHT, if one cares about this or that,
Even if arbitrary, people care, or not.
. . .
Or I suppose an argument that could be made,
Is what if 'I was gay or transgender?
Well, I 'am various things,
Male, can't go into women's bathroom,
Male, can be drafted,
Adult, have to work for a living, pay taxes.
We all have rights, and not rights,
Of course there's a difference between being a first class citizen and 'not,
Still, I'm not rich,
Have to work for a living.
Not a part of X nation, might not accept me.
. . .
Then there's the argument about horrors committed against gays and transgenders,
Shock therapy, sterilization, murder, forced therapy,
But that doesn't really stand 'against my nihilistic arguments,
I'd just say according to X society that would be acceptable or unacceptable,
Course all that shocking, sterilizing, murder, forced therapy,
Is unacceptable to 'my morals.
. . .
Hm, I suppose another argument, is whether the opposed don't value humans or not, freedom and what,
But I'm not sure that's really a dealbreaker,
Probably some people like having piercings,
But can't a town outlaw piercings?
Maybe not an 'American town, but town of X society.
. . .
Probably my weakest point,
Is sources,
as well as arguments that
Justify transgender for people of unusual genetics,
Or just transhumanism in the future, perhaps.

Humans have 'long altering their bodies, or haven't
'Depending on their values, and 'what the alteration was doing, who had power at the time.
Depending on the time/place/individual,
X alteration is seen as good/bad/neutral.
. . .
Wanting to change the appearance of one's sex,
To me, is like cutting off one's legs or arms,
I don't understand it,
Looks harmful to the individual, looks like a lie to my eyes.
I don't 'mean that as an insult or attack,
Though of course being a rejection of someone else's preferences, views, ideals.
. . .
@Self
Hm, ought I rethink my view?
People change their hair color,
Use makeup to look younger,
Still, society, 'mostly, recognizes an obvious difference between men and women,
That they don't accept switching, or being in the other's reserved locations.
If an adult dressed up as a child, they'd not be allowed in a kindergarten.
If an adult changed their skin color, the medical people would still want their ethnicity for medical likelihoods based on race.

Yeah, but I imagine the people who don't like the gay or transgender lifestyle,
Well, don't like the gay or transgender lifestyle,
People outlaw nudity in a town, why can't they outlaw gay or transgender action?
@Self
Hm, am I misunderstanding society?
We outlaw some behavior, individuals,
Something is either acceptable to a society or not,
It all seems arbitrary to me, based on certain value this or that of course.

What Rights do Gays and Transgenders want?
And why ought they have them?

Months 'are getting chilly.
Funny guy, George Carlin,
Also makes one think, on some points.
Do you believe in Objective Morality?
I ask this, because people have different ideas of good and bad,
Nudity, killing, pain, racism, charity, dancing,
So on, so forth,
Is good or bad, depending on culture,
People have values they want to prioritize in their own lives, in their people's lives, in strangers lives,
Varying.

I tend to forget about the extreme meanings of words sometimes,
Not being much of a conspiracy fellow, myself.
Eh, RIGHTS, are big,
Important to people, I'd say.
Perfectly understandable why people should want them.
. . .
Hm, it 'might remove gays and transgender politics, from politics,
It might not.
Even when legislation passes, doesn't mean that people don't keep trying to remove said legislation.
Though,
I don't hear people saying that women need lose the right to vote, or Blacks need to be slaves again,
I 'do hear other legislation argued about,
Roe V Wade for example,
Though I think the Republicans misrepresented that law, well, different topic.

Why wouldn't there be a transgender or gay agenda?
I don't mean that in a negative way,
Just that everyone has their way of looking at the world, laws that they want in society.
Though I suppose not everyone is always 'pushing for their view in politics.
