I think if someone 'owns a company, if it's a 'family business, then nepotism is understandable. Bit like inheriting a country.
Though some people say many of the better Roman Emperors were those given their position by the merit of ability, and not by blood relations.
I can even understand someone getting a recommendation at a company, because of a relation.
Though people would mind it less, if they worked their way up from the bottom, or were 'refused if unqualified.
It doesn't paint a very positive 'picture though.
And people with an interest in running a good company or country, would do better to look at how often blanket nepotism 'hurts their 'own cause.
. . .
I wasn't 'much bothered by the college admissions scandal. Good some attempt done to hold people to a standard. Bad that the system may not be fixed, only superficially solved.
Too bad in a way, to blame people for operating in a way that world seemed to work, too bad such a system is or can be.
Rambling.

I had a coworker from China once, nice person, everyone at work was fine with it.
People vary though,
Might meet some unpleasant people, might meet some good people,
Hopefully your friends meet more good , than unpleasant.

You win for now i was unaware of the equality act. but you keep asking which rights. The same rights a straight person gets just cause gay people cant marry straight people that doesnt mean they don't get the rights a straight person has. - drlebronski
I'm not 'quite so much trying to win, as figure out what legislation you'd like to push for.
Though I 'am trying to win a little bit, despite myself.
. . .
Here's an example.
Maybe in the future the cost of trans transition will be cheaper, perhaps they'll be more integrated into society in the future, that they aren't a high risk for suicide.
Though my information may be incorrect on those two bits.
But 'currently, it doesn't make sense for someone to join or currently be part of the military, if they have a pre-existing condition, that is going to cost the military money, as well as make the individual nondeployable during transition.
The military 'already screens people, no matter their sexual orientation for suicidal tendencies and history.
Personally I'm also bigoted in the social aspect of it, but perhaps that factor will go the way of "Don't Ask Don't Tell".
By that I mean people will become more accepting, not that we'll demand people not be honest about who they are.
Though I'm still doubtful trans can be easily integrated into the military.
Currently, the military tries to not let fat people join the military, people with one eye, people with medical conditions, people with mental health trouble.
. . .
Addon, I suppose pregnancy with women effects the military, which might hurt my argument some, since female military members do have kids while in the military. I'd have to look into the subject, but just saying I'm aware of it.
Calling a gay man a f*gg*t and harrassing them is not just normal insults it can make people more likely to commit suicide its like if a white dude started calling a black guy the n-word for no reason other than to discriminate. - drlebronski
People often choose insults, that have a connection to the person they are insulting, because they 'want it to hurt.
I'm not saying insulting others is good or ought be socially smiled upon,
But I also don't like taking away people's right to be a**holes.
Personally, I'd rather not by legislation remove people's right to insult others based on what they are.
Personally I'm doubtful I want to legislate that people are not allowed to discriminate against others. (Unsure about that one)
Unless it was a business I owned, then I might expect customers or employees to not use insults, or discriminate while working and purchasing,
But that's a 'personal preference of mine, and freedom, includes freedom to be unpleasant.
In my mind.

Ok whether a gay person can or cant be straight then they still deserve rights...
Which rights?
If a company wont let a gay person work there because they are gay the gay person cant do anything about it
"In 1994, the ENDA only made it illegal for employers to discriminate against employees based on their sexual orientation. By 2007, discrimination based on gender identity had been added to the law as well.[17] In 2015, a broader bill, the Equality Act, was introduced in place of this."
if someone goes up to a gay person starts calling him slurs like F*gg*ot and other words that gay person cant do anything about it.
How is this different than normal insults, based on whatever context might, or might not, apply to a person?

Being anything really makes you unable to do certain things - drlebronski
That's the argument angle I'm going for, jah.
People are not all equal, not all square pegs.
Not everyone is a hammer, not everyone is an axe.
And, if there are differences, then what one is 'able to do, or 'expected to do in society, changes.
My argument seems fine to me.
federal laws dont ban discrimination of LGBTQ+ - drlebronski
Example of discrimination, not banned by law?
regardless of this the forum is about them deserving rights - drlebronski
We don't all get the same rights.
So far as I know, a person with a suicidal history, has difficulty getting into the military, Ideally.
It's not a matter of them 'deserving the right to serve, they're simply not currently qualified, in many people's eyes.
Nothing 'specific about gays of trans, pops into my head, of rights they are deprived, hence why I ask for examples.
Created:

@drlebronski
Indeed they cant - drlebronski
Then the point stands,
being gay makes you unable to do certain things.
"Well, you gave 'one right. That they 'already currently have in America." " - Lemmingthat's true - drlebronski
So give a right they 'don't have?

being gay or trans is different from being blind or short
Sure, being gay or trans is different than being short or colorblind.
But being short is different from being colorblind.
being gay doesn't make you unable to do certain things
Can a gay person just 'not be gay.
Lot of people say they can't.
Thus they would be 'unable to do a certain thing.
Depending on whether you say they can or can't.
A dwarf could still 'technically ride a carnival ride that the law says they're too short for.
A colorblind individual could 'technically work a few of the jobs the law says they're not ideal for.
gay people deserve the right to marry
Well, you gave 'one right.
That they 'already currently have in America.
Though really it's semantics, marriage.
Some people insist a pencil is a pen, if they have enough influence in a country, well, then the definition of a pencil, changes to pen.
Marriage is between a single man and a single women, says some people's definition.
Other people have 'different definitions.

Gay and trans people are valid and deserve the same rights as any other american
Please be specific.
Differences in people, results in different rights.
Let's suppose you said,
Dwarfs are valid and deserve the same rights as any other American.
Well, no they don't.
If they're too short to ride a carnival ride, they aren't allowed to ride it.
Let's suppose you said,
People with color blindness are valid and deserve the same rights as any other American.
Well, no they don't.
Certain jobs 'require color vision.
Let's suppose you said,
People with bad eyesight are valid and deserve the same rights as any other American.
Well, no they don't.
You have to pass a vision test, to become a pilot in the American Air Force, as far as I know.
'Which Rights?

I'd say serial killers 'lose their right to vote.
I'd also rather ignore us humans all being on this ship called Earth, and rather focus on the ship called the USA. (Thus denying non Americans the right to vote, on American issues)
There's more 'normal disagreements that I have with people, on them voting what with I disagree with.
Certain environmental laws for example, or certain gun laws.
But, need to compromise a 'bit at least, to keep my 'own right to vote on what 'they disagree with 'me on.

Well, he 'was a war hero, in deed more than public perception, in the book.
Lot of trauma and PTSD, I'm sure though, any new friends he might make dying.
It was interesting a bit, that the military 'had an actual hero of sorts, though more for PR and propaganda, than his efforts.

Oh! I read that once, found it in High School library, was a faded copy, had a character in armor, using their gun as a club, about to whack an alien with it.

I haven't read as much history as I'd like, I'm also not certain 'what America is doing in the modern era.
It's true though, that in the past, (Not in chronological order) America was forcing Japan to open trade, annexing part of Mexico, Manifest Destiny-ing to the west coast, attacking Canada at least once, attacking Cuba, annexing Hawaii, the Mormon Wars, Teddy Roosevelt's Great White Fleet, Barbary Wars, involvement in the Second Opium War.
Many other incidents I'm sure.
Speaking of the modern era though, just because America isn't 'as obvious about it's fingers and pies, doesn't mean nothing's happening.
I suppose myself I don't see America's power booming up so much either, more an evening of the powers that 'be upon Earth, as other nation make technological, cultural, social gains.
Which, though it may be to my discredit, I see as a mistake by America,
No, I'm sure it's to my discredit, that my response after WW2, would have been 'more war, 'quick 'before anyone could gain parity.
Someone on DDO, made the argument that the form of power is simply changing.
To different types of warfare, technological, economical, digital.
They also expressed the opinion that an Empire by immoral means, is worse than a nation by moral means.
Though I still stand by my ugly opinion, in the friendly conversation I had with them.
Anyway, modern America, I'm not sure I'd call us stagnant, but we could be doing more to acquire power and identity, I'd say.

Interesting about chess, aye, it wouldn't surprise me, if male and female brains are a bit different. Have preferences, maybe specialties.
Not saying I think one is better than the other in general, but in specific tasks, I think 'both sexes have something they in 'general, do better than the other.
Though it's not something I've looked into before.
Well, there 'would be 'some meaning in it.
Might narrow the 'scope of sports down a bit though.
Kind of nice watching women's basketball, or men's basketball sometimes.
Viewing a heavyweight boxing match, or a bantamweight boxing match. (Not implying women are bantamweight, because they aren't, just different groups)
Seeing the best of the younger generation in golf, or the best of the seniors.
I think people like seeing a fair fight, or at least what 'looks like a fair fight.
Since people like Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps exist. Not 'quite a fair fight.
Or they enjoy seeing the Harlem Globetrotters beat the Washington Generals.
But having many separations of classes, allows sports to flourish, people keep an interest in it, maybe.

So because he 'might have influenced the American people in the future to riot a bit at Capital Hill, he should have been impeached early on, even though what he was being impeached for then, had not enough behind it, to impeach him?
They weren't impeaching him for the unforeseen Capital Hill incident back then, thus I can't support their impeachment then.
I 'also didn't agree with the Capital Hill impeachment, as I didn't think there was enough to remove him, but focusing on the first.
His poor leadership was apparent from the start, but he got elected, never mind 'possible futures.
The Democrats and media were very critical of Trump, and did not give him the benefit of the doubt.
Honestly he didn't deserve any benefit of the doubt,
As he 'never showed a willingness to work together.
But I 'still found the press and media 'too against him.
The media slanted pieces about him too often that didn't 'need to be slanted, allowing people to fall for his fake news schtick.
Not to mention every late night comedian 'I ever watched was 'hyper critical against Trump.
Sure the comedians joke about 'all the presidents, but under Trump it was more than that.
I 'also didn't appreciate the media and the Left's utter pushback against near all of his policies.
In particular the border.
The border 'needed to be secured in my eyes, it sucks that we sucked at it,
But the issue 'wasn't that we needed to stop securing our border, but that we needed to stop sucking at it.
. . .
I also still don't care much fore Biden, though I hear many people on the Left claiming he's basically a Republican, so why aren't I happy?
Created:

@Unpopular
Personally, I 'still say after,
the Democrats were being irrational, and wrong to obsess and look to impeach him all along.
From the start, even before he ran for his successful election, he looked as though he was a lackluster moral character, a liar, a braggart, narcissist, egoist, a poor team player.
He was 'never someone I thought fit to be president.
But that's not reason enough to remove from office.
He was elected with those faults 'clear showing.
Which was the 'problem the entire time, to my thinking.
His faults were visible when he was 'elected.
Throughout, he'd always managed to avoid 'technically being responsible for anything.
Take the leadup to the Capital Riot,
From what I remember, didn't say anything worse than other politicians have, even if the result was the riot. I'm doubtful he was expecting that.
I'm not willing to support division without merit, or dangerous legal precedent without merit.
The Democrats caused division from the start of his presidency, to it's end.
Not that his actions 'ever to my knowledge made 'any attempts at reconciliation or compromise.
I 'am glad he's out of the presidency, seems doubtful he'll see a return.

Still liking your post, because you appear to have thought about it for a fair bit,
And it seems to me my response does not fully or in complete logic address your post.
Just states my opinion.
Not ignoring the cis, trans, terminology 'just because I disagree with it, but also because I find it confusing to use.
I don't know much about Laurel Hubbard, but I'm assuming they were born with the body of a man, and developed much of their life that way.
To my eyes, that places an unfair advantage, also to my biases, people who transition from one sex to another, do not transition.
I have a more difficult time arguing against people born with 'physical not 'mental confusion between sexes.
But assuming that their number are few enough, they can be discounted as an anomaly, and unfortunately barred from competition.
We have systems of separation in life, people who are born with rare conditions such as Conjoined twins, are just out of luck. For the moment.
Returning to women who have been kept out of competitions for having higher than allowed testosterone levels (that they produced naturally).
I don't know much of this claim, I Google it, and see a Reddit claiming she has Male sex organs (albeit just internal testes as a result of a chromosomal disorder), [No ovaries or womb]
I'll have to think about your claim that there exists significant differences based on race.
I'm not concerned 'strictly about a man who's had a sex change to. . . Grr, how do I discuss this without offending a person or admitting their definitions I disagree with? Sorry.
A man who's had a sex change, to try to be a woman. It doesn't matter to me 'just that they ought to be stronger than natural women.
Even if a man agreed to have both his hands cuffed behind his back when fighting a women.
To my prejudices, men just don't fight women.
Also the tendency of differences in body, but the argument that men who have had sex transitions to try to be women, might be weaker, doesn't move me.

Hm, there 'is a distinction between public and parochial schools though.
I'm 'pretty sure you're not saying that all public schools are parochial schools.
There's a difference between funding communities to teach as they see fit,
And passing legislation that communities shall have students pledge allegiance to God and Country.
The government did not pass a law establishing religion 'into public schools for Everson v Board of Education.
They 'did pass a law establishing religion with addition of "Under God." I 'think.
"From this day forward, the millions of our school children will daily proclaim in every city and town, every village and rural school house, the dedication of our nation and our people to the Almighty.... In this way we are reaffirming the transcendence of religious faith in America's heritage and future; in this way we shall constantly strengthen those spiritual weapons which forever will be our country's most powerful resource, in peace or in war." - Eisenhower
