DDO goes offline tomorrow, so I don’t think I have the time to get info on every game. I can maybe gather the names of the games, but that’s about it. The players in them and the setups they used will be lost to history.
Caught a break off work to say this, but screw it. I am going to document these games, even if it means pulling an all-nighter. Call me crazy, but this project of mine has made me realize just how much I love researching things in general. And how much I admire the culture of DDO and DART.
I’m thinking I can get it done before the Juggle CEOs wake up and shut everything down. It should be fine as long as the site shutdown isn’t on a automatic timer.

This is wrong. I just noticed DP1 of Animal Kingdom Mafia was in the Miscellaneous Forum rather than the Games Forum (implying games were played in the Miscellaneous Forum before being played in the Games Forum) so I backtracked all they way the last page of threads in the Miscellaneous Forum.
Sure enough, there were old Mafia games predating Animal Kingdom Mafia that were never recorded in the archives.
Animal Kingdom Mafia was 11 years ago. These ancient games were up to 13 years ago, when DDO’s forums first went live. The sad thing is, I don’t have any time to screenshot these newly uncovered old games. I have to go to work in like 5 minutes. I’ll have to try to get what I can of them after I get off work, which won’t be until 11pm (currently 1:30pm at the time of this post). In the meantime, I’m going to pull some data from the old mafia games until they get deleted.

My priority was to collect data that could be quickly acquired since I was on a time limit (only a few day until the site shut down). At first I only tired manually typing the setups and who won and lost each game, but that was going slow, so started over and I started only recording the winners and losers. A bit later though, the obvious idea of screenshotting everything finally occurred to me, and as a result, I started over again and screenshotted info from every game, all 283 of them.
I will try to manually type in all of the info from the screenshots onto a Google Doc later.

Welcome, all, to DP1!
Rules: (Expect a lot of obvious mafia game rules that you already know about here, C/P’d from sign-ups thread.)
Players may not contact each other about the game aside from in-thread and game-approved PMs. Dead players contacting the living players to better spectate the game is acceptable as long as no information is revealed or hints/tips are given to the living player. However, I strongly prefer dead players contact me for information if they want to spectate. Dead players may contact other dead players.
Players may not reveal information about information about this game (roles, characters, etc.) since all players can see it.
Once a player is dead they may not communicate in-thread. They may still communicate in game approved PMs, however. Also, players may not talk after the DP has ended. During twilight it is fine to talk, but not after final vote count and flip are posted.
No players may C/P their role PM or fake doing so. All role PMs must be paraphrased.
All questions to me about the game will be answered wherever they were posted as long as they can be answered without ruining the game. I can and will answer all hypotheticals, but cannot answer questions about unrevealed information, with a few exceptions that will already be specified at the start of the game without the need for players to ask about. Example: If a player asks if there is a cop in the game, I cannot confirm or deny that. I can, however, answer questions about how a cop would work if it were to be in the game, since that is a hypothetical.

Pie said you might join. Not an /in until you say it. Yes, I know you just got unbanned, but that is not my problem, regardless of whether or not your ban was justified.
I did what was necessary to get my game going as quickly as possible (so it doesn’t die) and that was to advertise to as many players as possible.
The game is full. I think it would be unfair to other players to force them out before the game even starts and I think a hydra between two non-noob (this is none of the current players’ first rodeo) players isn’t even fair to opponents. I’ve been late to sign up for games before, too. One just has to deal with it.
If you want, I can save you a spot for my next game. I could also put together a quickfire. Other than that, the best I can do for you is put you at number one on my replacement list.

Some players are not available until the day the game starts, so I didn’t ask for confirmation from any player.
That being said, I still expect a certain amount of activity from players once the game starts. I promise you I will be quick to replace you in for someone if they fall below that certain activity level.

Honestly, there are divisive Republicans and divisive Democrats. And then there are those will to have a calm discussion without trying to label those whose disagree, which can be from both parties.
I will forever respect a non-divisive Democrat over a divisive Republican.
Why? Because barring extremism, individual attitude towards politics is something I value more than what your actual beliefs are.
Once again, there will always be individuals who want to debate for the purpose of reaching a conclusion and those who just want to debate for whatever stupidity they consider a win. If you don’t know what category you fall into, ask yourself if you’ve made a pointless pissing competition of a thread recently.
If you feel insulted by this, good. You should consider it a callout. I have grown tired of threads that only increase polarization and do nothing but draw party lines instead of calmly discussing the issues, and it’s why I rarely stray into the Politics forum anymore.

To be more specific, a race is a large group of people of common ancestry and origin with the accompanying similar genetics. Ethnicity is similar but it is a smaller group with a more specific origin, ancestry, and genetics.

Definitely. You go on DDO now and there’s more ads per page than ever. When I first joined, the site had a banner ad at the top and bottom, and two on the sides. That was it and I think it remained that way until I left for DART. Now you can see debate arguments interrupted midway through the text by ad spaces, so they clearly decided they just wanted to make more profit per click instead of saving the site.

Interesting…I had a suspicion that whatever entity owned the property at this point simply forgot about it. Wonder if your message is what reminded them that they owned what has to be a pretty valuable domain name
I wonder if deleting DDO's data makes the domain name more valuable. One wouldn't want to sell a site domain name when it has a known history of controversy (not to mention the whole Ethang vs. Harikrish thing that any potential buyer who may visit the site can see).
Might be a bit of a tinfoil hat theory here though- they might just want to scrap everything altogether and let it die. Especially since I don't know who they could even sell it to for their desired price- clearly they weren't interested in USBurning's offer, whatever it was.
I wonder what Phil and Crystal would ever think if they saw what happened to their site 14 years later. Would they care at all?
