@Singularity
Absolutely untrue. If it were the case the only remaining member of the mod team would probably be ragnar, and discussions leaked to me about how the mod team chooses new mods are quite revealing. Their decisions are based on statements like "You know, we could really use a conservative or female mod" and qualifications are not discussed. Mike picked BSH1 on a whim and anyone who has been a part of the community for a while could predict precisely what bsh1 was going to do, and he did not disappoint when he started surrounding himself on weaklings completely dependent on him for their social standing and enforcing policies in a way conducive of bringing "social justice". Had Mike not been stupid about that choice, this site would be 5 times bigger, he doubled down on that retarded decision by picking a mod while not as bad as bsh1 lacks the emotional and social maturity for the position.
Not an ounce of this is true. Discussions about bringing diversity to the mod group is done. However, it is one minor factor among many when making selections. The mod group is heavily liberal and it appears as an elitist regime to conservatives on the site. Buying the trust of the users is the general intention. You can not cherry-pick parts of the discussions and claim that our only factor is diversity.
Furthermore, the process is still preferable to the whims of an internet forum. I will not even bother to respond to your rant against Mike and bsh1.

I am simply responding to those calling for revolution. Not necessarily thett3.

To be clear, DART is not a democracy, nor should it be. Mods and administrative positions are chosen based on qualification, not the whims of the masses. This site is privately owned. If you don't like the site and its rules, there are a plethora of alternatives.
This is not to say that I am entirely opposed to the idea of a presidency, I am open to it, but I would echo Drafterman in saying it would be solely a "voice." I do not believe we can or should give executive power to such a presidency unless the mods are required to vote to confirm the inauguration.

I'll agree that there is an ultimate reality, but I don't think it is necessarily knowable. Even if we could deduce that a God exists, I'm not sure that we could say for certain that an earthly religion is correct.

Frankly I'm pretty shocked at how strongly people feel about this. I can't really do THAT much damage. At least it's entertaining.

That is my opinion though. In the end my goal is to make this site a better platform.

Thank you for the nice comments, but I should point out that as a moderator the role is a leadership role yes, but my job is to resolve reported disputes and interpret the code of conduct. That is an inherently middleman position. The courts should not consider themselves legislators, if you catch my drift.

@Pinkfreud08
I mean no disrespect, but mods are not chosen based on "contribution," mods are chosen based on their ability to be the ideal middleman. RM is unfortunately not ideal for a moderating role. I'm not saying I am, but the existing moderators seemed to think so.

I would agree that hierarchy can be bad depending on how it is used. I see myself more as a middleman.

I MIGHT come to agree with this if it weren't for the current immigration situation in the United States. Both legal and illegal Hispanic immigrants are flooding into the job market, and they will accept (and thus usurp) some of the lowest wage jobs imaginable compared to their white counterparts. The result is:
1. Hispanics being exploited at horrible wages.
2. White, inexperienced workers will be less able to get low paying jobs compared to their Hispanic counterparts, because they are less willing to work at the lowest wages.
3. More fuel to the fire for illegal immigration, perpetuating human trafficking, drug trafficking, etc.
Instead, I would argue for the existence of a pretty low minimum wage, still managing to avoid all of the above.

I have not explicitly taken a position, but I think you have some confusion over what objectivity truly means.

I would be willing to debate this topic with someone. I can see subjective or objective morality being a thing, based mostly on if God exists.

Angelfish are probably one of the ones I will end up getting, they're fairly good sized fish. I think I would like a few bigger ones with some small schooling fish. The tank is 10 gallons and planted, so I can get a fair amount of fish in there

@RationalMadman
Thanks for the explanation! Those are some fair points, I can see concession as bad thing if you are winning a debate. However, it will also come in handy for those on the wrong end of the stick if they can make a concession quickly. I also think that since this is a universal change, and most people both win and lose debates regularly, the ratings will not necessarily be less balanced, but instead more valuable as they are harder to attain.

@RationalMadman
Those getting the win will want the win late as possible unless their opponent is a usually strong one (but then why are they conceding) the reasoning behind it is rating gain vs loss buffering.
Sorry I don't get what you're saying, can you explain this a bit?
As for the vote medal thing, in my personal opinion, making people put more effort into achieving voting medals is a GOOD thing (it increases the value).

@PressF4Respect
Decent point, but I think that people know they won't finish the debate before they become inactive. A concession button would be used I think.

Sort of what I was thinking. At least an "are you sure?" pop-up.

Mike wanted me to create this topic so that people can see the idea and discuss concerns.
My proposition is to add a feature that allows the user to concede a debate and give an insta-win to the user they are arguing against. This could potentially save a lot of time and energy for many, (especially voters) and cut down on full forfeit debates.
What do you guys think?

@DebateArt.com
You've already heard my suggestion for adding a "history" category, but another thing could be a way to concede a debate and give an insta-win to the user you are arguing against. That might save a lot of time and energy for full forfeit debates.

I will vote based on who I have personally interacted with and who I think deserves nomination the most.
1. First and foremost, I must nominate Mike for his work on this wonderful website.
2. I nominate Virtuoso for being a pleasure to talk to and debate with, as well as one of the most deep-thinking individuals on the site I think.
3. I nominate Ramshutu. I have not really spoken much with him, but his voting is what keeps the platform going. For that, he gets my nomination.

I have, he seems on board with it. It should help broaden the scope of our debates some I think.

I think we need a "history" category for debates and forum posts. There has been a steady flow of history-themed debates with categories such as "philosophy" simply because there is no option for "History."
