Most of physics is counter-intuitive?

How so?

Because particles commonly do things like being in two places at the same time and a whole bunch of other crazy things that utterly cannot happen in our world.

Is there an analogue you can think of in our world that you could use to explain how to be two places at the same time?

Well, just from the way you talk you are clearly bigoted probably raciest, that doesn't do much to promote your argument.

Science has already found the limit of our understanding in quantum mechanics. Renowned particle physicist Richard Feynman said, if you think you understand quantum mechanics you don't understand quantum mechanics, and he's right. What he meant by that to put it bluntly is that no human will ever be able to understand quantum mechanics. The universe probably has an infinite number of things going on that we will never see or be able to do science on.

Your perspective is human, but you can know how things work objectively.

Do you know how an internal combustion engine works objectively?

I read a little and your going to need to make it more readable and much shorter.

Don't spend a lot of time on it if you can sum up your conclusions in two sentences that'd be great. This way I will more easily understand what you have written previously.

To disgusted and keithprosser.

Obesity is one of the leading causes of death today and it's because of our evolutionary past. One hundred thousand years ago food was not plentiful so when you had a chance to eat you ate until you were full because you didn't know when you would have a chance to eat again. Today that behavior no longer serves us, it kills us.

Many people are utterly unable to conceive of their consciousness ending, but I don't think that's necessarily their fault. I think that it is an evolutionary issue. We are naturally compelled to believe our consciousness will have no ending because believing that is or was something that helped keep us alive.

Religion pushes all the right evolutionary buttons justifying our most primitive instincts and those instincts will no longer serve us, they will kill us.

That is death SWEETY. Don't be afraid, you will be the same as you were before you were alive. Unaware.
Grow up and accept it. It doesn't matter, you'll be dead.

It's not a secular worldview it's a fact, no brain no mind. We can observe it, we can test it and we can even experience it. Anybody that has had anesthesia for an operation or been in a coma experiences it. It's a common every day thing in real life. You want to sprinkle your religious nonsense over the commonly known thing that is called unconsciousness and it's not required.

What is a mind? Is it the same thing as a brain? Or is there a difference between the two?

The Christian worldview says there is a difference. It says that we are a duel or triune being as human being in the sense that we are body and soul/mind, or body, soul, and spirit.

Well, to have a mind you need a properly functioning human brain, they are not two separate things.

The Christian worldview? Why are you trying to involve religion again?

In this physical existence, yes, you need a brain. Remove the brainand you are dead physically.

Do you think all youare is a physical being?

As for your questionon comas, I'm not a medical expert. I don't know much about comas.Maybe you could inform me of your take?

So what you aresaying is that your mind and your soul are the same thing?

No I'm not sayingthat all I am is a physical being, I am other things too.

You are in luck, Ihave been in a coma so I can tell you what it's like, I didn'texperience anything. When I woke up I thought it was the same day asthe accident that put me into the coma. I couldn't believe that I hadbeen in a coma for five days.

A brain is the physical housing of the mind. The mind contains the inner qualities of a person, of what makes them who they are. A brain has a physical shape, a mind does not. You can physically touch a brain, you cannot a mind. Mental properties, such as concepts (i.e., the concept of twoness) are not physical in nature. The concept of goodness is not physical in its nature. You can't grab hold of goodness or twoness or logic for that matter. The laws of identity are not physical in nature, yet you could not make sense of anything without engaging/using them. Grab hold of a good idea or smell twoness for me. You can't because they are not physical in nature. There is a difference between physical/quantitative things and abstract/qualitative values, just like there is a difference between a brain and a mind.

So if you don't have a brain that means you don't have a mind?

In order to have a mind you need to have a brain, right?

Do people in a coma have a mind?

I actually see a difference between a mind and a brain.
Please tell us the difference between a mind and a brain.

By the way, believing there is a difference between mind and a brain has a name, it's called dualism.

The reason some others do not address my givens as stated, is that they have no rational, logical common sense that invalidates my givens, as stated.

They believe there is less damage to their ego if they run, hide irrational, illogical lack of common sense ridicule.

So basically, save their ego *  * via immaturity.

Go figure.
I think maybe, just maybe that the problem is most people have an inadequate understanding of the teachings of Buckminster Fuller.

Actually I think he described it pretty well.

God is a personal being.

God is strictly in one place and one place only, a thought in a human brain. Rocks do not think about god.

Yes it is very handy to be able to explain away what ever you like with logic you can just make up from the fantasy world you believe you live in. The problem is you people can not agree on what anything means. Every individual these days has a different interpretation of their religion. This would have been very dangerous during the dark ages as most people alive to day would have likely been burned at the stake for not following the strict interpretation sanctioned by the church.

Two Related, Yet Distinct, Meanings of Theory

There are many shades of meaning to the word theory. Most of these are used without difficulty, and we understand, based on the context in which they are found, what the intended meaning is. For instance, when we speak of music theory we understand it to be in reference to the underlying principles of the composition of music, and not in reference to some speculation about those principles.

However, there are two senses of theory which are sometimes troublesome. These are the senses which are defined as “a plausible or scientifically acceptable general principle or body of principles offered to explain phenomena” and “an unproven assumption; conjecture.” The second of these is occasionally misapplied in cases where the former is meant, as when a particular scientific theory is derided as "just a theory," implying that it is no more than speculation or conjecture. One may certainly disagree with scientists regarding their theories, but it is an inaccurate interpretation of language to regard their use of the word as implying a tentative hypothesis; the scientific use of theory is quite different than the speculative use of the word.

Is there any question that abiogenesis isn't true?
It can't NOT be true because here we are after all!

There are a number scientific theories of abiogenesis.

And there may be a verity of ways that life can form.

Given the makeup and history of the planet life was inevitable here.

This would be true on any other planets like our own as well.

I look around and I see the things other people think and do and religion is a pretty common thing among all kinds of people all over the world, it's really nothing remarkable.

Books are also common, people write books all the time, there are millions of them so again nothing really remarkable there either.

There is nothing going on that is out of the ordinary so to take that and elevate it to the level of something special or significant fails every time.
