@RationalMadman
So you're asking me to, essentially, infer the meaning of his vote?
I'm not him. I don't know his motives, nor can I telepathically determine it long-distance. Maybe he was serious with his vote (that it is his genuine opinion, and who am I to question it?), maybe he was trolling (the strongest case for this would be the cyclic "yes/no" pattern of his votes with no explanation). I don't know.
Now if you or anyone else were to give me a concrete reason why it's a troll vote and thus should be removed, then I could determine the verifiability of the claim and act accordingly. The same logic goes for reports.

Not sure why, but there seems to be a discrepancy with our voting polls (for #3 and #4):
Polling (updated 11:15am PT, May 31th):Of 20 votes total (some questions were abstained by some participants)...
- Ratify the new Code of Conduct?
82.4% in favor (14 yes, 3 no). Allow sharing of Private Messages?
60.0% Yes2 (7 Yes1, 12 Yes2, 1 No).- Change the Voting Policy to expand S&G to include other excessive legibility issues?
82.4% in favor (14 Yes, 2 No).- Require a reason when submitting a report?
52.6% in favor of No1 (6 Yes, 10 No1, 1 No2).
Polling (updated 05/31/2020, 6:30pm PT):Of 20 votes total...1. Ratify the new Code of Conduct?
15 Yes, 3 No, 2 Abstain2. Allow sharing of Private Messages?7 Yes1, 12 Yes2, 1 No3. Change the Voting Policy to expand S&G to include other excessive legibility issues?13 Yes, 4 No, 3 Abstain4. Require a reason when submitting a report?5 Yes, 11 No1, 1 No2, 1 Abstain (2 Unclear)

And why doesn't it get updated?
It is being updated. There's a MEEP going on right now to ratify the new CoC here.

Oh, I get it now.
By telling me that someone was trolling without highlighting a legitimate reason you cleverly illustrated a flaw in the reporting system that would manifest itself under No1! You see if I were a mod and I received a report of triangle.128k's vote without any specified reason, I would have to guess at the intent of the reporter (and maybe misaddress the issue as well). But with required reasons, I would know to dismiss the report as soon as "lol" showed up as the reason for reporting!
RM, you are truly an intellectual.

@Jeff_Goldblum
If 100,000 Americans had been gunned down by terrorists, the Republican GOP would probably use the event as a justification for the further restriction of already strict immigration laws (especially from Arab countries), just like they did after 9/11.
On the other hand, right-wing media (such as Fox News and Rush Limbaugh, among others) has downplayed the severity of COVID-19 to cover for Trump, who supported those who want to end the lockdown, explicitly against the advice of medical professionals nationwide. They also knew that by playing down the seriousness of COVID-19, they could convince their viewers (some of whom have unfortunately lost their occupations) that the lockdown is unnecessary and that the government is deliberately preventing them from working.
This significantly differed from their coverage of the Ebola outbreak, when Obama was president. Back then they tried to put the nation into a frenzy by claiming that Obama was at fault for not doing enough, despite the fact that there were only 2 deaths from Ebola.
So what do we make of this? A clear takeaway is that catastrophes (such as pandemics) can and will be made into a full-blown issue by conservative pundits when it suits their political narratives. And when it doesn't, they won't think twice about sweeping the issue under the rug.

I may have accidentally put your original No2 vote as a No1. I fixed it with the current polling update.

It's a nice conversation we're having here, but as I have some stuff to do, I probably won't be able to respond to it today. I'll do some research on #32-34 and respond when I have the time.
Created:

@EtrnlVw
Lol how would I respond? I would say it doesn't in any way negate that it could very well be the case, does it? I mean I could make up a "fallacy" called "the assumption that a Divine origin could never be the case Fallacy" and ask you how you would respond to it. I'm not assuming that God is the only explanation (although the only one that seems plausible)
Ok, so you're saying you're not sure why certain plants have certain medicinal properties and that God is just one possible explanation, right?
but unless you have an explanation as to why plants have a curative value maybe consider it as a possibility.
Maybe the plants with medicinal compounds evolved to have them because it evolutionarily benefited them too, or maybe at some point in their evolutionary line, a neutral genetic mutation occurred which produced the compound.

While it is true that some plants do have some medicinal properties, that a healthy lifestyle is important to maintaining one's well-being, and that some medications do have potentially severe side effects (some are also ludicrously expensive, mostly due to certain pharmaceutical companies having monopolies over them), one cannot entirely discredit the role that pathogenic microbes play in causing diseases. These germs are tangible (visible through a microscope) and are responsible for most of the diseases that plague humanity.
Besides, how would a perfectly healthy human become sick from transmission (say, COVID-19) if diseases are simply the result of a deficient lifestyle? How come life expectancy a few centuries ago was significantly lower than it is today, despite all of the "remedies" being natural? Why were illnesses such as measles, polio, and even diabetes (which were rampant and almost always fatal before the advent of modern medication) not being cured by herbal medication? Why did the various plagues throughout history cause so much death when pure and wholesome treatments existed to supposedly eliminate them?
The truth is, pathogens exist, and they do cause diseases.

@EtrnlVw
Yes God put medicinal value in plants, the botanical Kingdom is far more powerful than people realize and is definitely an indicator we have an intelligent Maker, I mean there are herbs for specific organs for God's sake! You can really see the difference in God's knowledge and use of healing as opposed to the medical community, with the right herbs there is no fear of death and severe side effects or any at all for that matter. Just take a good look at the warnings and possible side-effects of your next dose of prescription drugs.
So how would you respond to something like this?

This does raise an interesting point, though.
There is a right way to do ads, and a wrong way.
It is definitely possible to have non-intrusive ads (Google Adsense, Infolinks, etc.) which are appropriate for this site

@Christen
People can already share private messages without any sort of moderator approval by screenshotting the message and sending it to whoever they want to "share" it with. People can also invite others to private chat groups on other platforms like Whatsapp, and share private messages that way.
By "sharing PMs", they mean sharing it publicly in the DART forums. As for what you're talking about, there literally isn't a single thing that can be done about it (unless the mods somehow find out about the messages being sent outside of DART, or someone else finds out and reports it to mods).
Yeah. I'm on board with this. Plus i'm starting to miss billbatard. We deserve an ignorant clown that we can laugh and poke fun at from time to time. Things can actually get boring around here without those kinds of people.
Eh, some people do, some people don't. It's a matter of preferences, really.
Anyways, some suggestions I have to improve the site overall would be to make it so that you can save rough drafts of your debate arguments in your debates and come back to it later, and also save rough drafts of your forum posts. Like if i'm debating someone, and I type half of my argument, but then it's like my bedtime or something, I want to be able to save that argument as a rough draft and come back to it later the next day to finish typing the other half of my argument. Sites like Reddit already let you do this, so I don't see why this site can't do that too. Right now, you have to either finish your entire argument, or delete your entire argument and re-type everything later when you have more time. You could also copy your current half of your argument and paste into something like notepad and save it so you could come back to it and copy and re-paste everything, but then it loses the formatting and stuff.
This is actually a really good idea (honestly not sure why no one's thought of it before).
Also, I made another suggestion a while back to make it possible to filter out debates where rounds were forfeited, and even Virtuoso was on board with this: https://www.debateart.com/forum/topics/3847-there-should-be-an-option-to-filter-out-debates-in-which-rounds-were-forfeited
Yeah, there should be a sorting option to filter these out.

Good point, but like DebateArt.com said, it's not entirely obvious.
Having a debate list specifically for this would still direct attention to it better than the sorting category.

I think you mean if Yes1 gains a simple majority... It's a scale, with Yes2 being the medium option. Both Yes options are opposed to the status quo, but both Yes2 and No are presumably opposed to outright dropping that specific rule as seen with Yes1.
Oh, I misread the question. Whoops.
