Something something something my d**k is huge, like a rat.
Something something something else, I rode your mom like a cat.
Something more something, Harry Potter reference, and just like that.
something something, I’m the greatest human being, so great that my last rhyme only needs to be in the same ballpark.

Saying someone has below average skill at strategy, philosophy and poetry is not what I would quantify as a particularly grave insult.

If you thought that we’re bad, let me taunt you a second time!

Sir, your rap rhyming structure is sub par; and I find your word choice utterly predictable!

Helü was the superior of Sun Tzu.

Subutai was a far better strategist.

Sun Tzu was best regarded for his tactical ability; not his philosophy or poetry. And given that you seem to be below average in terms of all three, even that is pushing it a bit.

May I suggest a more appropriate military tactician for you? Perhaps Pierre De Villneuve? Or Douglas Haig?

Subutai was a strategic and tactical genius. The art of war is a good book; but is pretty much a list of war and 101 its fairly generic and basic stuff. Once you got above the first year of the military academy; there’s not much applicable information that is of use: it’s replaced with real world tactics and strategy. Any armchair general will find it easy to say you need to know your enemies strengths and weaknesses - but very few generals and tacticians are smart enough to actually invent the strategy an tactics based on knowing those weaknesses.

Sun Tzu a guy who gets a lot of credit for saying basic stuff out loud; not much credit for his actual actions in war. He won a few good battles - then ended up getting defeated and disappearing into irrelevance when bigger and better people started getting involved.

Subutai defeated the weak and the strong alike. And didn’t, for example, repeatedly lose to better/bigger armies and then retreat, sulk and publish morose poetry and sent it to those who he felt responsible for his defeat. When confronted with a strong enemy for which he needed to work hard; he did not frequently trip over his face and command his armies to run round in circles and not attack anyone, and make tactically stupid decision that allowed his opponent to defeat him easily all while screaming at everyone at how much of a genius he was.

While Subtai could be considered to have preyed upon weaker opponents - that was mostly because everyone was weaker - and at least he didn’t try and prey upon weaker opponents and then consistently lose to them.

Probably because “they” recognize a generalized metaphor used for the purposes of humour.

If it helps, I’ve changed to Subutai - which is probably more appropriate.

Sun Tzu is recognized for how much he talked about strategy and how to be successful in war. Subutai is recognized for pretty much conquering the entire world.

Confirmation bias at it's finest:
It’s more “having a consistent ethical framework”.

I wonder what you then determine whether your respect is misplaced with...
Normally when someone:

  • is unable to take criticsm
  • blames others for their mistakes
  • lashes out at others when something untoward happens
  • Brags, touts their own achievements over others (especially when achievements are misplaced)
  • Frequently belittles others for little objective reason.
  • shows little in the way of empathy
  • has little or no sense of humour and is unable to laugh at themselves
  • has no apparent ability for self reflection
juat off the top of my head.

Discrimination in school

@Dr.Franklin
Professor Michael Thompson also talks extensively about how the social norms that boys are exposed to, the need to be cool, manly, strong, and others; are raising generations of boys that end up being and lonely: which i suspect is possibly part of reason why suicide and drug abuse disproportionately affect males.

In Raising Cain, the professor went into a lot of detail about the importance of the emotions education of boys in school and how it’s lack plays a big part the overall lack of emotional well being in men growing up.

Secondly; having a small child of my own, I am excruciatingly aware of the inherent gender bias in almost every aspect of life from the moment you are born. From language, to clothing to the close they’re given.

If boys are given cars and LEGO and encourage to build things: and girls are given dolls and are told to take care of them: and are discouraged from doing the opposite - is it any surprise that boy end up being better at, say, spatial awareness? It appears at least meta studies seem to back this up.

Even little things; studies have shown parents talk more to girls, and count more with boys - so it’s difficult to really sepearate what boys naturally are from what they have been taught to be.

I think the issue with school is that they are becomming more diruption and risk intolerant. Meaning less cool games, and more reliant on drastic intervention to solve education problems: not solving the root cause of whatever behavioural problem maybe Driving suspension and expulsion.  There are also idiot teachers who grotesquely interact.

I have absolutely no fear of being disliked, I’m genuinely not bothered by it; and appreciate that there will be many people who will not like me at all, and often play into their dislike in ways that amuse me.

What I fear, is being a bad, or unethical person - or being wrong and somehow not realizing it.

For the former, there are those who’s opinions I respect, their behaviours I view as ethical and genuinely done for good reasons: and if they disliked my behaviour or things I do, I’d be wary of that as it would imply my behaviour is falling short.

For the latter, a key principle of science is that if you note a potential source of error, you seek out that source and correct it: hence why I expose myself to the crucible of online debate.

If bans are too lax - you end up with 4Chan and Brontoraptor. This poisons a site and drives people
away.

If bans are too severe - you end up removing all the conflict that makes people post - and prevents people from staying.

To consider whether bsh is doing a good job walking this line: in this thread, he has been criticized for being too lax and not lax enough. I think that’s a good indication he’s walking the fine line - and thus being hated on by both sides of it.

Almost every definition of murder requires the death to be illegal. So by that definition, abortion isn’t murder at all anywhere where it is legal. It’s just the usage of emotive language to try and appeal to emotion.

I would additionally state, again: that it need not be illegal either as an unborn fetus is a non-person being grown in the body of another. There is no reason to believe that a human being grown in this way warrants rights, or personhood; again its an appeal to emotion that largely ignores all the differences - something you seem to be picking and chosinf

The issue here is that you’re trying to manufacture some absolute line : there’s is no such line. Letting someone die, bringing about the death of another, intentionally with the purpose of killing, intentionally knowing that the death will occur, and all variations therein are all graduations of ethical or unethical conduct.

There is no line that makes one okay and one not. It’s just people like you arbitrarily asserting that there is some magical line.

Let’s be clear there is no pro life, and pro choice: just two groups of people with marginally different criteria for when it’s okay to end a human life or not.

Congrats, you literally explained to yourself why they're separate scenarios and an absolutely illogical comparison.
They’re only different scenarios if your draw arbitrary ethical distinctions. The end result in both cases is you do something that directly leads to an additional death in the world. Simply asserting that they’re different, then sticking your fingers in your ears isn’t particularly helpful to anyone.

It's irrelevant because it's convenient for you to draw two ENTIRELY different scenarios of murder and an inaction as the precise same thing. Bodily autonomy is put over another's life because they are ALREADY dying, and because it isn't under the definition of murder.
They are not precisely the same thing, they are broadly the same thing. They are not entirely different scenarios, they are variations of scenarios where an individual agency of one brings about a death of another.

Like I said; i can do exactly the same thing and arbitrarily assert any number of differences. An unborn fetus is not a person, and is simply an organism being grown by the mother that will end up human, but isn’t now - so it isn’t murder.

I don't really like Neil Degrasse Tyson and I have heard this message before but it hasn't done it for me. Basically pretty much reinforcing you are not part of a bigger picture you instead are a lump of matter floating through the space you take. Care to explain how this worked for you or do have something less depressing but you found uplifting?
It depends on your perspective. We are a lump of matter floating through space that is the product of exploding stars that is now looking through telescopes to find other floating lumps of matter, and trying - and often succeeding - to try and figure out how we got here.

The universe is only depressing if you had an over inflated idea of your place in it. If you beleive your an unimportant lump of matter, the sheer amazing ness of what we lump of matters are figuring out should make you feel good ;)

Was it something a gradual increase or was there a sudden moment that brought you to the edge? No specifics needed apart this part. What generally made the suicide attempt unsuccessful. Basically can answer like my friend told me how much they mean to me or something.
Like many, it was a relatively long period of depression culminating I one relatively minor precipitating event that pushed everything over the edge. Though this was 20 year’s ago. What ultimately made it unsuccessful was an exceptional local hospital and my inadequate knowledge of pharmacology.

I don't know. There seem to a lot of dumb people from where I looking at them from. I don't consider my professional in any topics yet as you can see from my record excluding mass forfeits they can't really make a better argument. Kind of goes to show the failure of removing bad ideas like Religion, anti-vaxxing, homeschooling etc.
Humans have always, always been dumb. The entire history of humanity has been a list of humans believing in insane shit, realizing it, and then improving themselves and the world until the next set of dumb sh*t comes along. It’s sad, but anti-vaxx is going to last right up until the next major pandemic.

Do you have something else important other then God not existing? Pushing sorry if it too much. You can not answer if you want.
That story I gave you came about two months before an unsuccessful suicide attempt. I almost went with that for my first answer, but it’s less fun. There’s a bit too much stigma about depression and suicide in general - I think it’s good for people to know other people have been through it. And you can ask me anything on this - to a point.

I am negative about it. Guess I watch too much politics.
History always works in cycles; they’re getting faster, but they are much the same. Liberalization, reactionary, liberal, reactionary. The arc of history always gets more liberal. As long as your vocal about what you beleive in, and give time and money to causes you beleive in: you so all you can.

I am still at the depressing stage. How long did it take to be uplifting or what changed it?
Neil Degrass Tyson - and specifically a lecture he gave about perspective on the universe. When you feel important and look at the universe, you feel small: when you feel unimportant, and look at the universe: you feel big, as you realize that you are just an accident, an amazing miracle that is able to  appreciate your tiny place and position within the universe.

For B, the issue is always going to be depressing. People will die, there will be consequences, our world could be destroyed if we mess up. It’s not to say that is a certainty - just a possibility.

its positive knowing that whatever the consequences, they are unimportant in the grand scheme of things. If we do end up destroying our planet, no divine plan is messed up; there are no external consequences - we destroy ourselves and that is all.

In some ways thst is tremendously reassuring

What was the most depressing realization you had come too?

What was the most uplifting realization you had come too?
To both : that God doesn’t exist. It was initially depressing them actually incredibly uplifting once you realized what it means.

What was the most important thing that happened in your life or something you remember fondly of?
When I was 17, my school got a new head teacher - and changed the dress code to black and white only. As I had bought all my clothes for the year - I took issue with that and didn’t follow it. About two months into the term, the head teacher came into my class (having seen me in the morning), or told to make sure I wear the dress code the next day or be suspended.

So the next day, I wore black suit pants, black suit jacket, white suit shirt, black tied, black hat, sunglasses and my name
written on my knuckles.

When teachers asked what I was doing - I said I was on a mission from God (this was a big deal in catholic school).

Later on in the day, the head teacher came into my class with a trumpet; and demanded that I play as I was a blues brother. Ironically, she didn’t know I played first trumpet in the school band - and I immediately launched into the solo from in the mood

Class clap - head teacher snatches the trump and runs out of the room - I never wore uniform again.

Are you positive about the future or negative about it?
I’m both ; humanity seems to always be at a cross roads. There are many things that are depressing; such as the downward spiral of the US, but other things that are generally more positive, such as some of the action on climate change.

Specifically, DrF tried to steal the matrix of leadership from Bsh, who had hidden it away on a distant world and entrusted the secret to virtuouso and myself. DrF first attempted to trick virtuoso into giving him the info by creating a debate profile and then lulling him to a false sense of security. He successfully bribed me with a free meat lovers stuff crust pizza.

As Bsh knows my weakness, bsh gave me a fake address which led Dr.F to the wrong location. After destroying countless planets, and innumerable trillions of aliens on them in rage, he finally managed to trick virtuoso into viewing him as an ally, by secretly pushing individuals to request a 1 and 2 week argument window.

With this, the matrix was stolen, and Dr.F began is plan of universal conquest and genocide that laid waste to most of the civilizations that exist.

As a result, he was banned for 43 hours, and told to issue a contrite apology.
