Why do people complain about choosing the lesser of 2 evils?
-->
@HistoryBuff
how so? they completely ignore the left either way because they see it has absolutely no cost to them. That is why they move right. It is the complacency of the left that allows them to do this. If the left simply refused to support them, they would lose and need to actually respond to what the people want.
Here is how:

Voters reward the right-wing party as well as the left-wing Centrists rewarding Democrats when they move towards the right.

Voters like yourself punish them for whatever reason you hold inside your head and so what they see is that Republicans get avid, loyal voters and that the only way to poach from the active voter pool is to move further to the Right so as to appeal to those voting Republican to vote them instead.

Meanwhile, you sit there going 'oh yes look at me I've done a great thing now they'll move more to the left!" but in fact your type has punished them in a way that means they only see active voters moving towards the right-wing, rather than seeing inactive non-voters moving towards the left-wing.

He also lied about giving up his assets and businesses, he is 'in the process' of giving ownership to relatives yet has not actually handed them over.
He is regularly attaining income through a series of loopholes.

The only way to stop them from doing that is to teach them that ruling like a republican means electoral loss.
But people who think like you are teaching them the opposite, moving them more to the right.

Oromagi inches towards his 100th win...

@seldiora
Also I noticed that Oromagi accepts like 90% of his debates rather than instigating
That's true for all the top-ranked debaters, including me. The only one to regularly instigate is Trent, who sticks to very niche 'this vs that' kind of topics overall.

Yes they are, except that coalitions with thirdparties are more viable especially as most gave proportional representation (though UK and Australia have seat system I believe).

I don't see how or why you disagree to me.

As long as people continue support corrupt, right wing policies just because they are a bit less horrible than the alternative then all america will ever get is corrupt right wing policy.
You know the left-wing nations you use as examples of good social democracies? They all used to be monarchies or even Fascist states and gradually shifted to the left by several electoral shifts forcing the 'center' the parties had to appeal to, towards the left. This was not achieved by being complacent like a stroppy brat going 'bitch-ass leader you better give me what I want right now or I will let the worse party take over this nation!' like a toddler may do when they don't get the toy they ideally wanted from a selection.

The technique for finding the supreme source on something that's not too biased, very in-depth but just biased enough to support your side of a debate lies in how you use your search engine.

This is where the reason people use DuckDuckGo instead of Google can kind of backfire. Google learns your biases and general topics of interest (which you can opt-out of here:

Even with them off, you enable Google to give you more tailored results for you via your Internet History on Chrome, if you use that. Whatever paranoid and legitimate reasons you have to hate this, just for a second understand that everything about the search engine is designed to learn from your previous searches (such as the one you just did one second ago and potentially disliked the links of) to contrast it with your new similar search, combine that with your general location from your IP address, notice the wording patterns you use and match the very way you write to sources in an abstract way that understand how you're prioritising keywords.

You will find that if you dislike the sources that show up in your first search, refining it isn't too hard as you need to 'work with' the search engine you have. If it's DuckDuckGo, spell it all out, every detail that's annoying you for being lacked in sources that show up, if it's Google simply search more adding 2-or-more keywords each 're-search'.

Then, skim read sources to see their stance, conclusions and commit confirmation bias in a controlled manner (did you like that 'con' alliteration there?). Stick with the ones that somewhat support your stance, be careful if you're cherry picking middleground or oppositional sources to your stance and your opponent is left with nearly nothing to use against you.

Of course things like .gov, .edu and .org are generally more reliable than .com but a blog post by a dedicated online journalist is nothing to be ashamed of using.

It used to be that Oxford Dictionaries (now on Lexico.com) had the superior definitions but due to some weird alterations they've made over on Lexico to make the definitions more literal and simplistic, Cambridge has outdone them in my opinion (in terms of online dictionaries) with each word linking to the definitions.

I approve of Merriam Webster too but my goodness please don't use Wiktionary...

Yes, you sold it at an optimal time assuming you intended to sell it in and of itself, rather than 'make the most out of it'.

In 3 years' time it will be on the return to upswing as the hot tourist destination. People will already be moving and travelling there in 2 years' time but due to the economies taking a dip worldwide, it's not like many holidays will happen vs before.

Cali has a perfect balance of liveliness, even on the beach in terms of surfing, and calm (also on the beach). There's so much about it to attract people to it, it's an ageless tourist hotspot and local fiesta-dome. The weather never being cold helps too, since the 'too hot' phase is only a month, to my knowledge. The culture being extremely LGBT-friendly and 'outcast friendly' in general don't hurt.

@Danielle
I  definitely respect voting thirdparty more than not voting. I usually respect voting thirdparty 'who can actually win enough to make a difference in a coalition and/or to snowball that lead' more than voting thirdparty who are fairly guaranteed to lose (but this of course depends on one's convictions, loyalties and more).

Not voting is not a protest against the 2-party oligarchy, it's enabling the one you'd want to gain power less to easier do so. Not just because of your 1 measly vote but because your attitude and way you approach politics seeps into others you're close to and you indirectly peer pressure and 'role model' lead them towards not wanting to vote, if they in any way admire and/or look up to you.

Why do people complain about choosing the lesser of 2 evils?
Look, I understand the frustration at first. Life is a series of 'choosing the lesser of two evils' it's just that sometimes (rarely) we have the pleasure of the lesser evil being genuinely great if not phenomenal, rather than just better than the other.

So, you are sitting there complaining that you have to choose the lesser evil in an election and refusing to vote the lesser evil based on that... I mean, I at least respect the people who do truly vote for their third party 'throwaway' vote more than those who refuse to vote at all. I'm not here to virtue signal about voting, it's totally up to you what you do with your vote in an election but what I can say is that I personally will never not vote in a general election so long as I am a citizen of a country where votes aren't rigged and am entitled to vote.

Of course it's not just about your sole vote, if you can convince just 2 people to vote for the decisions you see as optimal for your nation and/or local seat/region then do so. Regardless, if you want to be private about your political views and not convince anyone at least vote, yourself. Trump won 2016 by targeted social media manipulation and even targeted letters to convince people not to vote for either party, who were likely to vote for Clinton. It has been exposed that Republicans are attempting something similar this time around as well, potentially:

Whether or not this is the case, please bear in mind that these dirty tactics only work because of an underlying willingness in people to refuse to vote for the lesser evil. What exactly is your endgame in refusing to vote? Do you think you will overhaul the system and neither party will win? All you have done is made it easier for the party you want least to win, to actually gain the victory. This ironically make you even more disheartened with the political system and more likely not to vote, people are voting less and less because of this strategy of manipulating you into complacancy. Do not be complacent.

Whichever party you support the least and who is likeliest to win, it is not a toxic reason to base a vote for the other major party, especially if you overall don't mind the other party winning. Choosing the lesser evil doesn't make you a morally less in-tact person, it makes you unwilling to cower out of a tough decision and that bleeds moral integrity in all ways.

Animal cruelty laws are there regardless of species. It applies less to insects and molluscs simply out of practicality and also because they do genuinely operate less consciously aware than other animals, they don't even have true brains of any kind just a nervous system with a 'control center' of sorts.

I would agree with you that spiders and several species such as octopodes and other such creatures are wrongly unprotected by animal rights as they are barely ever enforced on animals that aren't well known, it's true.

I am not sure how you can begin to compare plants to animals in ethical terms. I support protecting the environment from an ecological perspective but not based on sympathising with plants anywhere near to what I do with animals.

Mrs Lion will have which ever is easiest to catch......She tends not to over think the situation.
Lions don't have a stomach or knowledge that enables them to survive without killing other animals. Lions are often quicker to kill the creature than most other wild cats, it's leopards and tigers that are the most ruthless with their prey, toying with them and keeping them scared stiff but alive until they decide to feast on the animal.

The already-born animals are actually more sentient than the fetus prior to the third trimester (arguably throughout if you knew enough about non-insect animals). Your ethics are based on that taking life away is wrong if the entity has the capcity of sentience, are they not?

I think if you are not pro-life, you can justify eating veal so long as the animal wasn't abused and the brain was stunned prior to the bleeding out.

Anyone who is pro-life but not vegetarian (especially not with juvenile-animal-meat) is simply a pure hypocrite in my eyes. I am pro-choice up to the third trimester and I believe that so long as no pain is felt and the animal lived a happy enough life, room to move around etc and the kill was mercifully done with a stun gun to the head prior to the bleeding out, the meat industry is not too terrible for now.

Eventually we will truly outgrow meat in the more civilised cultures of the world (this is not a racist remark, it's a remark of the cultures that don't ruthlessly carry themselves towards the vulnerable and which are sophisticated in their protection of sustainable environment). Those that ignore it will either perish over time or simply trade their animal-slaughtering meat between themselves while the rest of the world eats lab-grown substitute, think of Quorn-type products where it's not necessarily soy based.

All Hail! King Ragnar!

@Lunatic
I am not going 'far to insult them' and very little of what I say is an insult but I don't deny that it's negative.

Ragnar keeps bringing up my ban over and over again copy and pasting previous posts and cliche phrases like 'I am sorry for being double standard to RM in the past oh poor me, how sorry I am that I was too lenient on him." It's annoying and completely disruptive to me because I can't just sit and ignore it.

Then I see a thread congratulating the guy, it's very tilting and I am not sure he deserves any kind of applause whatsoever just for voting a lot on a website where he is leading terribly in multiple ways. The fact he has such support from some who keep following him around and upvoting his posts and all posts made defending him and/or attacking me is a product of the corruption, not proof I am wrong.

He is popular and it is dangerous for me to sit back and let him snowball it. Thus, I went through lengths within the rules to ensure that Seldiora and you knew I was being banned for 'harassing' you and you both fervently were furious and bemused once you realised I was being banned for it. This is where we start to see the foundation of his corrupt hold on the site eroding away, very slowly yet gradually towards an inescapable fate where people will now permanently hold him to a higher standard with all future moderation, whether on me or not.

I did good for the site with how I handled this, David/Virtuoso and Ragnar will not make such a hasty corrupt move again for a long time if they are keen on keeping their chokehold on power in this website.

I am being banned over pure lies.
If anyone reading the above posts by Ragnar thinks he made good points, please ensure to see other threads and replies by me, I am sure he will keep bringing it up again and again, so I won't recycle my defence. It's also curious why Virtuoso/David is silent after going back on his amnesty promise conveniently even though what he's holding back amnesty for I've either already been punished for prior to that ban or is completely false (as in the violation I literally did not do). Those they say I harassed have not asked for me to be banned and said it was not harassment, this is all very easy to solve once you cut through the bullshit.

The mods are either incompetent or malicious. After several discussions with them where I one by one break down the accusations and cite Virtuoso giving amnesty on top of the accusations being false (for the fabricated accusations of multi accounting and doxxing), I then came to understand from their responses that it was malice and not incompetence.

So please do me a favour and stop saying I'm assuming malice.

I warn you that I know exactly what you're complaining about and some voters, even very well respected ones, fall victim to thinking that because the opponent has pushed your argument away as a faulty attack that they therefore earned that point and you lost it. Equally, they think if you don't directly address the stupid accusation that you're wrong or fallacious, that therefore you definitely are.

It helps to learn who are debaters that don't like to play dirty and to keep vsing them.
