White Privilege - Fact or Fiction
-->
@Double_R
-> @thett3
This has always been my problem with the white privilege narrative too. I think a lot of it is BS but the parts that are real would be better termed as “black oppression”—like it’s good that bad things aren’t happening to white people even if they shouldn’t be happening to anyone. It’s not a “privilege” to be treated justly. But the language as it stands exists to demoralize whites and drive further division.
The term exists because it spread to the rest of society from those who were on the short end of it.

It’s not a privilege to be treated justly - until you’re the one who is not being treated justly. Privilege is nothing more than a matter of perspective. When you live in a society where your skin color detrimentally impacts your well being - anyone who does not face that same impediment is privileged.

To point that out and have it contorted into a narrative meant to demoralize and drive division demonstrates the most basic disregard for the view point of others.
White privilege is a fact. How privileged is a matter that whites have not resolved yet despite 2 world wars and a 3rd world war on its way.  Maybe Putin will put the question to rest.

By giving them the definitions, at least they will know what they mean.

Ontological definition: relating to the branch of metaphysics dealing with the nature of being.

Epistemological definition: relating to the theory of knowledge, especially with regard to its methods, validity, and scope, and the distinction between justified belief and opinion.
none of these have anything at all to do with "being a christian"

in the exact same way

none of these have anything at all to do with "being NOT a christian" (NOT a theist)
Even Christian’s need to know what their metaphysical beliefs are.
Even Christian’s need to know the distinction between knowledge and beliefs.

Stephen: As you have given me cause many times now to show just who it is that suffers with God Complex Disorder and likes to believe himself to be above all others, I will remind you of the man in your own mirror, Reverend "Tradey".

Lets see. After your "calling" and after being "chosen by god" himself you go on to tell the world about yourself.

Starting with your education  and without being asked or any prompting you freely tell this  forum :

Tradescret wrote; "I have been taught to memorise the bible from very young. I have read the bible numerous times. I try and read the OT once every year and the NT twice a year.  I know it reasonable well and can even read Hebrew and Greek".  #52

Tradescret wrote; "I have studied degrees at theological colleges".  #45

Tradescret wrote; "I have studied degrees at theological colleges and heaven gets mentioned - but rarely ever articulated on very much.  #45

Tradescret wrote;"I studied and was tutored by academics, scholars, and priests and fathers from the Orthodox Church". #91

Tradescret wrote; "I study the original languages, translate them to English",  #25

Tradescret wrote;"I am qualified by certified colleges with proper accreditation".#20

Tradescret wrote; "I am a pastor of a church with over 300 people"#67

Tradescret wrote;" my role as a pastor - which I also do, I counsel in pastoral care. "#20

Tradescret wrote;"I am also a chaplain to our Countries Defence forces, a position I could not have without proper qualifications". #20

Tradescret wrote; "Are you assuming that my qualifications obtained from a world class reputable university are not real"? #31

Tradescret wrote;"I  charge universities when they request me to lecture to them [ their students]". #20

Tradescret wrote; "I am a lawyer".  #20

Tradescret wrote; "I in most parts are merely passing on the teaching of what i have received", with gods authority.     #20

Tradescret wrote; "I devote a significant amount of my resources in trying to prevent abortions from happening. I also devote a significant amount of resources to programs which enable people to adopt children.#64 I also devote a significant amount of my resources towards helping people who are left in homeless situations and are expected to be looked after by the government and its welfare programs".  #64

Tradescret wrote; "by my Hebrew teacher"#45

Tradescret wrote; "I provide resources to my local church as well who have significant means of assisting people in impoverished places around the world and locally".  #64

Tradescret wrote; "Would you care to prove that a post graduate degree from Melbourne University is not a real qualification"#31

Tradescret wrote; "I suppose the rocks down on my farm might be much older" #13

There is much to add to you gasconading Reverend "Tradey".  For instance, your "orthodox Tutor connection in Moscow".  Your appearance in the Bangladeshi courts as an international lawyer.

And all of this on top of a family, children and a farm to run.

 I have said many times now too on this forum that, for a man that claims to be a defence lawyer, you have a special ability to open the door for the prosecution. Your criminal clients that are in prison must rue the day they employed you to defend them.

@ shila  Cut out and keep.

Tradesecret: I went looking for the truth and I did not find it.  Like everyone else on the same journey, I soon discovered there many hurdles and problems - of definition of validity, of recognising it when and if I did happen to luck onto it. But I kept looking - and looking.  It was only when I stopped looking - because I wasn't particularly looking for the truth as whatever I thought the truth might be.  Or what others had told me the truth was and I didn't have a better idea. Finally, I stopped.

It was then that truth found me.   And it didn't try and prove that it was the truth and nor did it try and demonstrate that it was the truth and it did not validate itself and it didn't even task me to believe it was the truth.  Yet  it surprised me as to its simplicity and its complexity.  To its rawness and to its maturity.  To its completeness and its warmth and the immediate insight that it knew me better than I knew myself.  And it didn't have an issue with me.  And it was then that truth as it were "dawned on me".

My journey is now quite different to that one.   I am not looking for truth anymore.  That is a journey that others will walk until they realise that they won't ever find it.  I have a feeling most people on this site are on that journey - whether they admit it or not. They might call it something different.  They might recognise it or not. Yet like many other countless sites all over the internet and countless churches, and synagogues, and temples, and mosques, and little clubs, atheistic as well,  these people will keep searching, and every now and then someone will find something that they recognise as truth - for a while and then they will move on - on the same old journey.

You are on that journey. that is one reason you visit this site and others probably. You might not call it a journey for truth or perhaps you do.  but you haven't found what you are looking for yet - or else you wouldn't be here.

All the best for your journey.  you know where I am.
We have you admission you are not looking for truth anymore. You looked for truth and never found it. And like also admit you haven't found what you are looking for yet - or else you wouldn't be here

ATHEISM is simply "not a theist"

it has absolutely nothing to do with "afterlife" or AXIOLOGY or any other ONTOLOGICAL and or EPISTEMOLOGICAL questions
Apparently, you don't know what epistemological means.
there are many self-identified "atheists" who have no idea what epistemological limits are
I know that, there are plenty of people who don't know what the words "ONTOLOGICAL" and "EPISTEMOLOGICAL" mean, but you don't usually see people like that using them in a sentence.

What is the Universe Expanding Into?
-->
@Sidewalker
--> @Shila
Yes, and it's commonly referred to as the "Metric Expansion of Space",  it's space that is expanding, not the objects in space.  It also implies the violation of two of our most basic laws of physics, the 1st law of thermodynamics (the conservation of energy), and the Relativistic principle that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light in a vacuum.

Now here is something new that might confuse you, or might help. In the standard physics theory, the galaxies are all getting farther apart; that is the expansion of the Universe. Yet in the way the theory describes it (I mean in General Relativity Theory) none of the galaxies are actually moving. All that is happening is that the amount of space (vacuum) in between them is increasing.

No, you will not learn this in school, or even in college (unless you have an extraordinary professor). It is usually taught in graduate school, when you are earning a Ph.D. degree. At that point the language you will encounter is this: "In the Big Bang Theory, all galaxies have fixed coordinates. (That means they are not moving.) The 'expansion' is described by the 'metric tensor', which describes the distances between those fixed coordinates. In the Big Bang Theory, it is the metric tensor which is changing; that represents the expansion of the Universe, even though the galaxies aren't moving. The recent discovery of accelerated expansion means that the rate of expansion is increasing."
Yeah, I know, that's why in the post you are responding to I said "it's commonly referred to as the "Metric Expansion of Space",  it's space that is expanding, not the objects in space. "
The expansion is just measured differently. But it is an expansion or they would have used a different word.

You’re a bonafide idiot. Sorry. But it’s true
You are just upset to hear black customers screaming with joy the store was giving away things for free. Only the ones who tried to pay felt cheated.

A new report by The Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy and Prosperity Now breaks down the beneficiaries of the Trump tax bill by race and income. The numbers show that tax cuts are benefiting wealthy whites, who come out the furthest ahead, while black Americans receive less of a benefit at every level of income.

You don’t here whites saying, “Not Us Again.”

According to the Standard Model of Cosmology, the Universe is temporally and spatially finite, and it is expanding.

Not something one would expect from a pastor or a lawyer. Should his condition improve he might return as a doctor.

Especially one that claims a congregation of over 300 worshipers, speaks many languages and tutors students in all the theological that's just to name a few of his many, many alleged accolades.
I am still waiting to see the legislation that supports his claim. Thos links offer nothing in the way of evidence. But I am not surprised.
Tradesecret is in denial his problems are deep rooted in his condition of gender dysphoria. True Australia Victoria passed a law where parents face prosecution if they don’t affirm their children’s preferred gender identity. But there are harmful effects when children are left untreated. Tradesecret is a good example

Consciousness, via volitional action, increases the likelihood that an organism will direct its attention, and ultimately its movements, to whatever is most important for its survival and reproduction.

an insect is functionally indistinguishable from a robot
I can see you did not waste any money on education.

Insects certainly display complex and apparently intelligent behavior. They navigate over long distances, find food, avoid predators, communicate, display courtship, care for their young, and so on. The complexity of their behavioral repertoire is comparable to any mammal.

Snarky political mode: If the media bias of the magnitude required to report Trump endorsed bleach injections or slanderously claim he supported neonazis at Charlottesville was turned on Biden they would say this is an admission of pedophilia.

Tounge-in-cheek mode: I wonder if the site rules now prohibit anyone from supporting Biden?

Objective mode: This combined with the diary, the sniffing, the pool story, the lack of Epstein related prosecutions all combine to give the pedo witchhunt crowd plenty of material to work with; if he had any marbles left he would be extra careful but he doesn't. The man is not responsible for what comes out of his mouth at this point, he belongs on the rocker; and saying "we go way back" is hardly an admission of pedophilia.
Neither Biden nor Trump were accused of pedophilia.

If you ascribe to physicalism, why is a physical state conscious?  Why (and how) are physical processes accompanied by experience?
For the brain to process a stimulus it has to be conscious and tuned in with the five senses. Touch, smell, taste etc.
Experience In a different sense  refers not to conscious events themselves but to the knowledge and practical familiarity they bring with them.[
For there to be an experience, there needs to be an experiencer, consciousness is the conceptual space within which we find the experieence, it's the entity that experiences, no consciousness, no experience, no consciousness, no knowlege.
Experience is what has been stored in the brain as memory of that event as well as the ability of the brain to recall that event or feeling or knowledge.
Under hypnosis patients can recall past experiences despite being in a trance-like state(semi conscious).

Copyright Policy: Articles may be freely printed and distributed, emailed, or shared online provided they are not sold for profit and Got Questions Ministries is clearly identified as the author.

Putting the link would make little difference because the site does not reveal authors names.

Why doesn’t GotQuestions.org give the names of the authors of its articles?
Their Copyright Poliy is explicit, either provide the link or clearly identify Got Questions Ministries as the author.

Why are you arguing it, do you want us to think it's your work?

The link explains why GotQuestion.org does not reveal authors names.
Now you know why I provided the article but did not reveal the author’s name.

Out of Africa Theory revisited
-->
@Stephen
--> @Harikrish
If you take the Genesis account. The garden of Eden was not in Africa. The Jews being the diect descendants of Adam and Eve were not Africans. In fact Christians trace the lineage of Africans to Ham.

When you actually look at this closely, it can be seen that the "first humans" were created somewhere else (Africa ?) and then placed in the Eden believed today to be Iraq.
The bible does not tell us all the humans descended from Africa. The Bible tells us all the humans descended from Noah after the flood and his children Shem, Japheth and Ham started the nations each carving out separate countries for their descendants.
Four Sons of Ham
1. Mizraim (Egypt)
2. Cush (Sudan, Ethiopia)
3. Put (Lybia)
4. Canaan (Land of Canaanites)

Five Sons of Shem
1. Elam (Arabia)
2. Asshur (Assyria)
3. Lud (Lydians)
4. Aram (Aramaic, Armenia, Mesopotamia, Syria)
5. Arphaxad (From which Abraham descended)
Note, This debunks the Out of Africa Theory. Shem or his descendants were never in Africa.

3. Seven Sons of Japheth:
1. Javan (Greece, Romans, Romance -- French, Italians, Spanish, Portuguese)
2. Magog (Scythians, Slavs, Russians, Bulgarians, Bohemians, Poles, Slovaks, Croatians)
3. Madai (Indians & Iranic: Medes, Persians, Afghans, Kurds)
4. Tubal (South of Black Sea)
5. Tiras (Thracians, Teutons, Germans, Scandinavian, Anglo-Saxon, Jutes)
6. Meshech (Russia)
7. Gomer (Celtic)
Note, This debunks the Out of Africa Theory. Japheth or his descendants were never in Africa.

Now you know why the curse of Ham only condemned Africans who were the descendants of Hams children who built the African nations.
Africans were owned and traded as slaves by the Arabs, Romans, Portuguese and Christians throughout their African history.

The Bible does not tell us Noah and all his children started out in Africa. It tells us only Ham and his children were the first Africans.
So the bible rebuts the Out of Africa Theory as the origins of humans

Americans love liars. They voted for one to the White House. I.e Trump. Trump lied before the UN. Bush lied about Iraq and WMD. JFK and LBJ lied about Vietnam. Clinton lied about sex with Lewinsky.
You forgot Joe. Joe lied about being in bed with the Chinese with his son Hunter

Trump’s Claims About Hunter Biden in China

President Donald Trump has repeatedly accused Hunter Biden, without evidence, of making millions of dollars in a “payoff” from China, after accompanying his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden, on a 2013 diplomatic trip to Beijing.
The claim involves a cross-border private equity fund involving some state-owned financial companies in China. Biden served on the management company’s board while his father was vice president, but his attorney says that was an unpaid position, that he did not create the company and has not yet received any money, let alone millions. The attorney says Hunter Biden only acquired a minority stake in the investment management company after his father left office.
We have found no evidence to contradict that, and Trump hasn’t provided any. We also found no evidence that Joe Biden used his position as vice president to enrich his son.

Yes it should. I find it strange that s/he has chosen to point out that it is in Victoria that it is a crime and not his/her home state of Melbourne. S/he's probably forgot where s/he actually lives this week.
I assume you realise that Melbourne is the capital city of the State of Victoria. Or are you just having a lend of Shila?

As for the legislation - go to the Victorian State Site. It is easy to find. All you need to do is google - how Victoria in the most progressive state in Australia in relation to gender legislation. https://www.legislation.vic.gov.au or if find that too difficult to navigate try https://www.austlii.edu.au/au/vic/   The first one is more authoritative in Victoria.  The second one more comprehensive.  you might learn something.

and by the way - I never said it was a criminal offence to talk about gender.  I was talking  about it being illegal to talk to someone about whether they are confused about their gender.  you may not appreciate the difference but the legislation does.

As for finding the specific piece of legislation and its penalties for breaking such laws - you are the wise and noble one - the one who knows their capital cities from their states.  You go and do it.
Not only has he forgotten where he actually lives. Tradesecret has even forgotten his true gender.

Australian Parents Fearful of Prosecution Under Victoria’s New Transgender Law
BY DECISION MAGAZINE STAFF   |    AUGUST 16, 2022   |   NEWS

A new law in Victoria, Australia, has parents fearful they will face prosecution if they don’t affirm their children’s preferred gender identity.

The Change of Suppression (Conversion) Practices Prohibition Act 2021 was enacted on Feb. 17, 2022, and bans parents from engaging in any practice that does not encourage gender transition. Parents cannot deny their child puberty blockers, hormone treatments or gender transition surgeries. Parents also cannot seek out non-affirming counseling for their child in Victoria—or anywhere else in Australia.

The law also prevents counselors from providing talk therapy to children experiencing gender dysphoria.

The Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission has been tasked with policing the act. Anyone found guilty of breaking the law could be fined up to $10,000 or face up to 10 years in prison.

According to the Victorian government’s website about the law, “[Conversion] practices have no basis in medicine. There is no evidence that sexual orientation or gender identity can be changed.” But a professor of law at the University of Queensland, Patrick Parkinson, argues it’s the legislation that has no medical basis.

“The law is highly damaging to the wellbeing of some children, particularly because it discourages clinicians from engaging with children suffering from gender dysphoria or gender incongruence and could deprive them of the help they most need,” he said. “It has no scientific basis because there is no evidence for harm for therapy which helps children become more comfortable with their natal sex.”

One parent shared that her daughter suffers from anxiety and gender dysphoria. When she and her husband sought counseling for their daughter, no one wanted to take her on as a patient.

“One experienced mental health professional told us candidly that no one would see our child because it is too politicized,” Sarah said. “So, my child is just a political football for vote-chasing politicians. … It feels like the government is interfering in families and personal relationships. It is very enraging to think that.”

Dianna Kenny, a former professor of psychology at the University of Sydney, had been treating children with gender dysphoria for about four years and has noticed an uptick in Victorian parents seeking her help since the law took effect.

“Psychologists in Victoria are terrified of practicing non-affirming psychotherapy for children with gender dysphoria,” she said.

Kenny also noted that about 40% of children presenting with gender dysphoria have also been diagnosed with other mental health issues, such as autism.

“The majority of clinicians won’t go anywhere near it unless they agree with the gender affirming model because they fear running foul of the legislation, so they’re not treating children.”

It's legitimately a source, but one that has a copyright policy that says you must attribute when you reproduce it.

I use links in posts from time to time, but in putting the link in I'm lso letting you know the source.  Maybe it would be best if you put the link in the post,  and if you do cut and paste, then let us know where it came from per the source's copyright policy.
Putting the link would make little difference because the site does not reveal authors names.

Why doesn’t GotQuestions.org give the names of the authors of its articles?

Right” does not always mean “factually correct”. It has other applications.

An employer terminates an employee after determining the employee’s conduct was counterproductive to the company’s goals. If the determination is accurate, they made “the right move”. There is nothing objective about this decision because the company’s goals are very much subjective.

A dancer in the middle of a choreographed performance performs “the wrong move”. It’s wrong because it is not what was planned with the group. There is nothing objective about the move itself being wrong because the group could have decided the move to be anything they wanted.

A singer sings the wrong note to a song. There is nothing objective about this statement because songs can be sung in any way the singer wants and alternate renditions have been written many times before.

There is no need for any of this to be objective for us to recognize a right or a wrong. All we need is a shared starting point so that we can arrive at the same conclusions together.
All your examples are not   free from your personal considerations. Therefore they cannot be objective.

In Philosophy the distinction between objective and subjective normally refers to judgments and claims which people make. Objective judgments and claims are assumed to be free from personal considerations, emotional perspectives, etc. Subjective judgments and claims, however, are assumed to be heavily (if not entirely) influenced by such personal considerations.

@Best.Korea
I first watched the movies.
I thought the movies were fine, but very confusing.
I got a copy of a book. Started reading. I immediatelly noticed that the book is more fun, but also offers more explanation on Harrys thinking.
It offers more explanation on everyones thinking.
In fact, I managed to get 3 books. I noticed that the books are full of little debates and have plenty of explanations lacking in movies.
Just one more to go.

What do the 4 houses of Hogwarts represent?
Image result for hogwarts house movie
Each House represents one of the four classical elements: Fire (Gryffindor), Earth (Hufflepuff), Air (Ravenclaw), and Water (Slytherin). Each of these also represents one of the four states of matter: Plasma (Fire, Gryffindor), Gas (Air, Ravenclaw), Liquid (Water, Slytherin), and Solid (Earth, Hufflepuff).

My bad, I just get a kick out of people thinking they know something about the universe and how it works. I admit I don't have a clue about how the universe works which in of itself is a more accurate description of how it works than some one saying they know. But you know so I wont tell you any different.

2 consecutive quarters of NEGATIVE GDP. Very likely we will have a 3rd as well since Biden thinks he can spend his way out of it with your tax dollars.
2 weeks ago I bought a brand new Toyota Highlander from Irvine Toyota. They said it was only the fourth one they sold this year. Not because they don’t have buyers, but because it’s only the 4th one they received from the manufacturer. Is that the government’s fault or is that a failure of capitalism?
This is what is curbing GDP right now.
There is a problem with the supply chain. There is also a shortage of electronic chips which comes from Taiwan and China.
Bringing these products home by locally manufacturing them in America is not only a solution. It is good for the future economy and competitiveness.

which brings us once again back to HUME'S GUILLOTINE

facts alone cannot convey meaning
Facts are objective  when it is free from personal considerations,
facts must be colored with context
Facts coloured with context is not free from personal considerations,
and context is by definition, subjective (sample biased)
Context that is subjective is not free from personal considerations,
