Boring, like the Monty Python "Argument Clinic", but not funny.  I don't think you need AI to change is to isn't and does to doesn't.

Try this.

When the second law was formulated, it was about heat, it is the second law of “thermodynamics”, it was a law about energy, not matter, so it could ignore matter. It told us about how heat energy acts in a closed system. There was energy and matter, function and form, and the second law being about the function half of the system, it could disregard form.   The second law didn’t need to take into account the observed fact that natural form building activities are occurring over time, that just wasn’t what it was about.

Self-integrated units of matter are in fact observed opposing the predicted statistical trend toward randomness. Manmade systems impose shape and order from outside, and they break down, entropy applies there. But there are naturally forming units of matter, the hydrogen atom, ice crystals, protein molecules, and the biggie, life, are units whose form is organized within. They all show a tendency to protect themselves from dissolution and repair themselves from within when they have been disturbed or damaged. We need not think of it as imposed from outside by the way, but we are observing a universe in which entities of matter are increasing form and complexity in space and time, and they are defying the second law.

Nothing like having your own mind.
President Trump probably the only one that has his own mind in office .
Yes, except for he's out of his mind, and out of office.
Who else went unconventional, with the proper label of fake news, border protection, decrease in taxes and increase in employment?
Trump is one of only two presidents in history to have fewer people employed when he left office than when he took office, he achieved the highest unemployment level since the great depression in the thirties.

His tax cut resulted in Trump increasing the national debt more than any president in history, so the money he gave out, was taken from our children.

I reRead animal farm recently, and I had some thoughts
-->
@Moozer325
I recently reread George Orwell’s animal farm for the first time in a while, and I found some interesting things that I don’t think I picked up on when I was being forced to read it.

One thing that struck me as being something that people on DART might find interesting, is the transformation of the Pigs from egalitarian to the oppressors. The Pigs were the major orchestrators of the revolution, but because they are far smarter than the other animals, they take control and become just the same as the humans before.

Being on DART has made me reflect on the role of smart people in society, and I noticed how Orwell also uses this book to convey a message to the smart people of the world. Obviously the Pigs were immoral in becoming the rulers seeing how they horribly oppressed the other animals, but I don’t think the message was that an Geniocracy is impossible. I think he was trying to tell us that if the smart people of the world inherently have a right to rule, then it must also come with a duty to rule fairly and equally.

I just thought that this was pretty interesting and I thought I would share it with you all.
Interesting take, it's been eons since I read it but I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be a satirical attack on Stalin and the Russian leadership around the Russian revolution, Orwell hated Stalin and the Russian leadership.  As I recall. the pigs represented Russian leadership and Napoleon represented Stalin, and considering how Orwell felt about them, he probably didn't have any intention of making the Russian represent smart people.

That's not to say your take doesn't provide great insight, that's the thing about great art, it speaks to people in their way, it invites the reader to complete it in a way that provides personal meaning.  I suppose that's why the book is always so much better than the movie, the book more fully engages you creatively, we make it ours much more than we can with a movie.

I love to reread books and always see things the second time that I didn't see the first time, always get more out of it the second time than I did the first. Now that you've shared what you saw, I'd probably see that if I read it again.  Doubt I will though, I didn't appreciate it much the first time, it's unlikely I'd read again.

The problem is, we set the machine for blithering idiot and zapped Trump, and it raised his IQ up to blithering idiot.

Clearly, the rich have gotten lucky enough in life, be it genetics or nurturing to make the best use of a bad situation. They of all people can handle hunger without assistance.

A system that doesn't incent the poor, and dis-incents the rich, is a recipe for economic disaster.

We can tax the rich at 100% PLUS force them to pay reparations. The incentive will be hunger
If the program is tax the rich and give it to the poor and you tax the rich at 100%, then they become poor, and you just have to give it back to them.

Assisted Suicide
-->
@Owen_T
What are your thoughts on this?

I don't understand why if an animal is in pain, it is of moral obligation to kill it. But if a person is dying and in pain, you must make them suffer the rest of their life.

It's not really the case that "you must make them suffer the rest of their life", they can commit suicide, the problem becomes why do they need you to assist, if they are unable to take a bottle of pills because of how sick they are, then they may be too sick to decide you should do it for them.  in a lot of pain people can say things like "I want to die" and not mean it.  I think the laws around assisted suicide allow for a lot of different aspects to be considered on a specific situation.

I think you necessarily have to be very careful around the idea that "I killed him, but it's OK because he wanted me to", which can be an aspect of assisted suicide.

We really need to vote for a person who will legally grab the wealth of those who have a lot and give it to the poor.
So you want Robin Hood to run for President?
There wont be 100% tax rate, but should be close enough.
Now you are talking communism, I agree we should increase taxes on the rich substantially, but within reason.  In most cases, the rich got rich in the first place by working contributing more to the economy, productivity, innovation, creativity, job creation, etc...if you take away the financial incentives for people to be more productive the economy loses, what you end up with is more poor people, not less.

Living in poverty is the worst thing that can happen, so government must prevent such situations.
Our economy provides for public assistance to the poor, it should be tied to incentives to become more productive, work, etc.  A system that doesn't incent the poor, and dis-incents the rich, is a recipe for economic disaster.

If you helped Israel create zero days that can exploit windows then how do you work at wi dows and remain loyal to windows by reporting that zero day while also being loyal to your country. Something has to give. Nobody that works for any intelligence agency in cyber warfare should be welcome to work in too large a capacity for any tech company

Donald Trump and his movement did not create all these American authoritarians and aspiring fascists. Such people have long been a feature of American society. What Trump and the Republican-fascists and their movement have accomplished in recent years is to empower and normalize a dangerous set of antisocial, anti-human, retrograde and anti-democratic values and beliefs.
Let me get this straight, are you saying that when a man comes along and says, "don't believe what you see and hear, believe what I tell you", and then says "Putin is your friend, and Americans are your enemy", that the people who want to eat that turd sandwich are not geniuses?

The problem for Kamala Harris
-->
@Double_R
Overwhelmingly, Americans think Donald Trump is an obnoxious vile petulant ignoramus who is the opposite of everything they teach their kids to be. But they put all that to the side because Trump was president before, and their lives were better at that time.

Those of us who are educated know why. We know Trump inherited an economy that had been growing for 7 straight years, we know Trump didn't actually do anything to make the economy of the late 2010's as good as it was, we know that Biden/Harris inherited a huge mess to clean up, and we know that the the biggest issue (inflation) was a global phenomenon that had little to anything to do with Biden's policies.

If it weren't for this massive correlation/causation fallacy Harris would win this election in a landslide. So what do you all think, has her campaign focused hard enough on this issue? Did she miss a clear opportunity to talk about this at the debate?
Absolutely she did, and she continues to miss the opportunity to hit that one out of the park.  I live in a swing state, it's all political ads, all the time, and I'm frustrated that there is not a Harris ad that points that out.  Trump presided over the greatest economic collapse since the great depression, economically, Trump's presidency was a disaster, she absolutely needs to step all over his nonsense claims that he did well with the economy.

I think the other miss is his stopping the strongest bipartisan Immagration bill ever, he never shuts up about immigration, Immigration was his answer to every question except why he stopped that bill, asked twice, and he simply talked about something else.  The moderators should have made him answer, and Harris should have walked all over him with it. They are letting Trump play those as his strengths without any direct response, the Democrats need to make both issues into strengths, screw being on the defensive on those two, they can put Trump on the defensive about both those things.

I'm getting frustrated that I haven't seen those two commercials yet. in an ocean of commercials, those two responses are conspicuously absent.

Trump has the BIGGLIEST crowd sizes.
-->
@Greyparrot
Oh pulease, you are missing the big picture, intentionally, I think.

This country has always come together when faced with a common enemy, but not under Trump, as he does with everything, he made it into an “us vs them” conflict and botched our response miserably.  The first US case occurred as Trump entered his last year in office, he went from zero to 400,000 deaths in one year.
Public health and national security experts had been warning about the next pandemic for years, in response Obama developed the National Security Council directorate charged with preparation, detection, and response, Trump eliminated the office because it was put in place by Obama.  Then when coronavirus hit, Trump declared that it “came out of nowhere” and “blindsided the world.”, but that was a bald-faced lie. What followed was a million American deaths that could have been prevented.

The Covid crisis could have been controlled, instead Trump politicized it, he made public health officials and Dr. Fauci the “them of his “us/them” thinking at a time when we needed their expertise the most, first he said it was a democratic “conspiracy” of course, more interested in how it made him look than in saving lives. He said it would “magically” go away when the summer came, and once it got out of hand, he made basic protections into a tribal thing, inspiring defiance towards basic protections like masks and vaccines, school and business closings, in the end, a million people died because Trump didn’t want to look bad.

Biden inherited a rapidly growing out-of-control pandemic that was killing 3,300 Americans a day, 185,000 Americans were infected with COVID-19, and the economy had lost millions of jobs, Trump gave us the highest unemployment rate since the great depression.  Less than 5% of the people had been vaccinated when Biden took office, what was necessary to get the pandemic under control was a behavioral change, and for Biden to fill the vacuum of leadership left by his incompetent predecessor.

Biden stepped in and provided the requisite leadership, engaging the full strength and capabilities of the federal government to combat the pandemic.
Biden deployed over 9,000 federal personnel to support vaccinations and utilized the Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness Act to authorize additional health care providers, including retired doctors and dentists, to administer shots across the country. He dramatically increased the number of vaccination sites and provided $4.8 billion in funding to 57 states, localities, Tribes and territories to support and increase vaccination efforts.  Consequently, Biden’s leadership got 300 million vaccine shots administered in his first 150 days.

Biden met the challenge of the pandemic, providing the requisite leadership, and got the pandemic under control by focusing on saving lives instead of focusing on his image as Trump had done.

The million American Covid deaths were a result of Trump's incompetence, and you know it.

10 Former Republican presidents who refuse to endorse him, including former Republican vice presidents who endorsed his opponents.
9 Women he has sexually abused, 26 of many more have not been afraid to come forward.
8 Musicians that have demanded he stop using their songs
7 People who sued him for fraud and won.
6 Followers he led in an insurrection attempt
5 People from his administration who now say he is unfit to be president.
4 Republicans voting for a Democrat to be president.
3 Americans who died because of presidential incompetence, over a million people died because he horribly mismanaged the pandemic
2 People who saw him get his ass kicked in the debate, over 67 million people watched him squeal like a pig.

And Trump’s number one biggliest crowd size…

1. The 81 million Americans who fired him in 2020

@Moozer325
I thought the Bible was supposedly written by god.
Why did you think that?  I don’t even know what that is supposed to mean, can you explain what it means?  How does it work exactly?

If that’s just the Old Testament, there are plenty of contradictions there too.
Literally?

Notwithstanding your contention that God wrote it, it’s more historically accurate that the Bible was written by over 40 authors from different backgrounds and continents, over a period of more than 1,500 years. It is a book that includes history and prophecy, poetry and love songs, allegories and parables, none of which is conducive to any kind of literal translation. The information in the Old Testament was passed down verbally through many generations before it was finally written down in Hebrew and Aramaic, not exactly the most precise way to transmit information. Then, four hundred years after the Old Testament the New Testament began and it was written is Koine Greek. Until the invention of the printing press, each written copy had to be transcribed by hand, which we all know is a very inaccurate process.  For the oldest books of the Bible this went on for over 3,000 years, every single copy was transcribed by hand for generations and generations, and it started with information that had been handed down through the generations verbally.

It would be utterly remarkable is there were no contradictions in a book of that nature.

For me, I have no problem believing that a character from ancient history  existed named Jesus but that Christians have cloaked in a myth. Jesus was a Jew through and through and I am of the opinion that Jesus would have been absolutely applaud that a whole new religion had sprung up in his name.
While I agree that Jesus probably did exist, he must have been going around claiming to be the son of god if everyone believed so.
There is little historical evidence that Jesus thought ofhimself as divine, probably the only title he actually gave Himself was Son ofMan. The Jesus of the New Testament and Gnostic Gospels is not alwaysomnipotent, or omniscient, and He does not appear to think of himself asdivine. He didn't claim for himself anything that he did not claim for all ofhumanity. He rarely spoke of himself and His message was not about believing inhim.

In that case, I don’t think you can claim that and then not expect some people to believe you and start a religion.
There is no reason to think He intended to start a new religion, the religion that came to be called Christianity developed after his death, it involved the belief that he was resurrected of course. Today, it is impossible to know whether or not he actually rose from the grave in bodily form, for some it is a matter of faith, for me, I don’t think it matters, for me it is enough for me to know that his spirit jumped dramatically to life after his death and that because of this he gave millions and millions of people hope that they never had before.

What we do know is that the things He did and said caused His contemporaries to think of Him in completely new dimensions, there was something to this man's life that caused those who knew it best to reach the conclusion that it was divine in nature.

I am sure there are millions of Christians that feel the same.  But the problem there is that Christians, instead of researching for themselves, have been totally reliant on pastors and priests to do the "clarifying" for them   And is all they have  managed to do was dig the hole of ambiguity ever deeper.
Yeah, sometimes I feel like that just because they have heard that there is an answer for the problems of God, they just assume that it’s an answer that makes sense, or works.
What do you mean by “problems of God”?  If you assume that “it’s an answer”, then please tell me, what was the question?

Instead of accepting evidence of the supernatural, many skeptics reject the science and revert to thinking naturalism explains everything. @n8nrgim
Instead of accepting evidence of the supernatural, many skeptics reject the science and revert to thinking naturalism explains everything. It's nothing more  than "science can't explain it, but it WILL".  They can then reject anything and everything, and they do. "I don't have an answer... but my answer is right"

“God of the gaps”, “evolutionary advantage of the gaps”, “complexity of the gaps”, “hidden variables of the gaps”, “emergent property of the gaps”, are all one and the same theory in principle.  They are only different forms of the argument from ignorance, illogical attempts to say that the lack of information supports my presumptions, and not yours, which is a logically invalid argument.  All are fundamentally religious beliefs, with a subtext of omniscience, the certainty with which materialists and physicalists invoke the belief that these gaps will be filled in as science progresses is based on a belief in the eventual omniscience of science.  The people who seem to logically argue that God cannot be omniscient, seem to be the same ones that argue that given time, man can be omniscient.
Neurophysiologist and Nobel laureate Sir John Eccles and philosopher of science Karl Popper have both referred to it as “promissory materialism”, Sir John Eccles stated, “Promissory materialism is a superstition without a rational foundation.  It is simply a religious belief held by dogmatic materialists who confuse their religion with their science.  It has all the features of a messianic prophecy”.

Perhaps this explains why you see these pseudoscientific “gaps” explanations most often invoked by dogmatic materialists debating their dogmatic religious counterparts, both sides of the argument are defending their faith from what they see as essentially, a competing religious belief.

I won’t accept a conflict between religious truth and scientific truth because to do so I would have to believe in a self-contradicting God; and that is something I simply cannot accept.   The Bible refers to the Christian as a “ministry of reconciliation” 2 Corinthians 5:18), and I believe we are duty bound to reconcile spirit and science, integrating these two fundamental aspects of our nature to be whole.

The very division of knowledge into the two distinct disciplines of science and religion implies that they are both incomplete and if we can’t reconcile our science and our religion then they are both equally false. (1 Corinthians 4:5 and 1 Corinthians 13:9-10)

In the end, we need to be progressing towards a larger measure of truth, in the direction of the Pythagorean ideal of uniting science, religion and the arts into a grand illuminating synthesis of mind, body, and soul.

There are good people on both sides of a school shooting.

For instance, in Winder Georgia, on one side you had good children and teachers dying, and on the other side we have a good patriotic kid exercising his second amendment freedoms.
