He probably is. And that’s a good thing. Do you know why? Because now he feels like he’s gained something, even though he really hasn’t (that UN resolution does nothing but verbally condemn him). It’ll make him more open to peace talks (hopefully).
Yes, when Trump bends over and squeals like a pig for Putin, it's called strategy.

@Lemming
What is the process in how America decides what to vote in the UN?
It's a pretty straightforward process actually.

Putin tells Trump how to vote and then Trump tells the US ambassador to the United Nations how to vote.

The size of Trump's penis became an actual, legitimate, real life, no-foolin' issue in the campaign in 2016 when Rubio made light of what he said were Trump's small hands.
"And you know what they say about men with small hands," Rubio told rowdy supporters, pausing for effect as the crowd laughed. "You can't trust him."

Justificatinm of worth to the bottom line
-->
@fauxlaw
If you cannot justify your personal value to a private industry company or to the government by calculation and description of your personal contribution to the bottom line value  of that entity, then move over, be entitled, and accept your worthlessness, because reality demands it's one or the other.
I suspect most people believe that only a “worthless” person defines the “value” of a humanbeing by their contribution to the bottom-line value of acompany.

Judaism is still a religion followed by the Jews competing with Christianity.
So what, the fact that Christianity was a Jewish sect that evolved through syncretism into a separate religion over the centuries has no bearing on your contention that the Jews rejected Jesus, during his lifetime he was a Jew, his followers were Jews, every single word of the Bible was written by a Jew (Luke was a convert), the explosive growth of this Jewish sect was a tremendous acceptance by Jews.

Jesus betrayed the Jews even though he was a Jew and followed Judaism.
No, Jesus did not betray the Jews, he did not start a new religion, Jesus was a Jewish Rabbi within a Judaism that allowed a wide latitude for individual teachers to think independently. Jesus was not a Christian, a new religion based on his life and death evolved long after his death, over time it became Christianity, and it is Christianity that betrayed Jesus and the Jews.

Judaism is a religion of Prophets; Jesus came forth squarely in the Hebrew prophetic tradition as a Prophet who kept Judaism vibrant through criticism of the faith. Religiously, it was an internal affair, Jesus passionately challenged the corruption and legalism of his own beloved Judaism and did so in the tradition of the great Jewish prophets such as Isaiah, Joel, Jeremiah, and Amos and he did so in the social and political context of his day.

No matter how you interpret the account, it was the two individuals, Caiaphas and Pilot who are implicated in the death of Jesus and betrayal.  Jesus fearlessly threatened both a cruel Pilot’s stability of the region and a corrupt Caiaphas’s authority and wealth by scathingly condemning the perverting and betraying nature of all forms of power – social, religious, political, and sexual. That is why he was killed by the Romans, and it is only through stereotyping that leads to bigotry that has turned it into a question of whether “the Jews” or “the Romans” are at fault.

The foundational Christian concepts of the Incarnation, the virgin birth, a second coming, or his Messiahship did not even exist in the decades following his death, any idea that the Jews of his time rejected these ideas is simply misinformed bigotry.

It is certainly not my intent to contend that what was implicit in His life and was made explicit through theological discourse four hundred years later is not an image of truth; I am one who embraces that truth, but the projection of divisiveness between Jews and Christians into the first century is a betrayal of Jesus by Christianity.

Okay from that POV your right, in today’s society it probably wouldn’t be possible and stuff, church and state used to be more mixed,
There is tremendous diversity of faiths in this country, to accommodate that fact requires the freedom of religion from the government, but any further involvement by the Government in religion is going to affect religion adversely.  There are only a few things the government does well, they jack up everything else they touch.

The relationship between the American people and the government was defined by the fourteenth amendment, and the foundational principles of Freedom and Liberty. Americans have traditionally wanted the government to stay out of our personal lives, what we do in our home is none of their business (as long as it's legal), how we worship is none of their business, we are much better off if the government respects our privacy.  The trend is towards more and more government encroachment, always with negative consequences.

if the world was still for Christ it would be easier.
Even that would be problematic, there are around 30,000 denominations of Christianity, with a large amount of diversity.

There are multiple theocracies in the world today, none of them provides an example of something we want to achieve here.

No way this last 8 more years, MAGA will be in power less than six more months, something good will happen to stop the insanity.

@Shila
I already recognize that Jesus does not have any sireship by Joseph, but that is not my point. My point is that Jesus was not just King of the Jews by virtue if his being the Messiah, but by actual Judah-Davidic lineage, as I said.
Mary’s bloodline has nothing to do with it, the strictly Christian idea of the virgin birth and the incarnation are inconsistent with Jewish Messianic prophecy. The Messiah of Judaic prophecy was to be completely human, born of two human parents, and descended on his father’s side from King David (Genesis 49:10, Isaiah 11:1, Jeremiah 23:5, 33:17; Ezekiel 34:23-24).

Please read my entire commentary of post #81. It is pure irony that the First-century first-decades Jews really did kill their rightful king, even by virtue of Mary's bloodline.
Nonsense, first of all, it wasn’t the Jews, it was the Romans that killed Jesus, and Jesus did not fulfill the Messianic prophecy of “First-century first-decades Jews”, so he can’t be considered their “rightful king” because He did not fulfill the Messianic prophecies of Judaism and He did not possess the personal qualifications of Judaism’s Messiah.

He did not fulfill the central theme of Judaic Messianic prophecy, which was to bring about an age of perfection with universal peace and worldwide acceptance of the God of Judaism. (Isaiah 2:1-4; Zephaniah 3:9; Hosea 2:20-22; Amos 9:13-15; Isaiah 32:15-18, 60:15-18; Micah 4:1-4; Zechariah 8:23, 14:9; Jeremiah 31:33-34).

Jesus did not build the Third Temple (Ezekiel 37:26-28) and he did not bring all Jews back to the Land of Israel (Isaiah 43:5-6) during his lifetime.  There is absolutely no concept of a “second coming” of the Messiah in Judaic Scripture and the Jewish Messiah is to rule Israel during the age of perfection, Jesus did not do so. (Isaiah 11:1-9; Jeremiah 23:5-6, 30:7-10, 33:14-16; Ezekiel 34:11-31, 37:21-28; Hosea 3:4-5).

In fact, the fundamentalist Christian contention about the Messiah regarding divisiveness and exclusivity between Jews and Christians is diametrically opposed to the Judaic prophecy that the Messiah would unite mankind to live in perfect harmony as one.

Church and state shouldn’t be separated, God calls us (to do what is right) and include him in everything we do, and bring up children in his ways aka discipline and school.
Have you lost your mind; if you get the church involved with the government you will get the government involved with the church.

The separation of church and state protects the church from the government.

Let's not forget that Jesus advocated the separation of church and state.

Best Services for Designing a Book Cover?

I know a book’s cover is the first thing potential readers see, so I want mine to be eye-catching and professional. But I’m struggling to find the right service for designing a book cover that fits my book’s theme and doesn’t cost a fortune.
Have any of you used a service for designing a book cover? What was your experience like? I’m looking for high-quality designs, and I’d love to see examples of covers people have gotten from different designers.
Have you finished the book, you need to finish the book before you start worrying about cover design.

I'm pretty sure that one of our posters, I think it was Fauxlaw (copied to see), actually designs book covers professionally, I think I remember reading that.

I also think he's a Trumper, so there will probably be swastikas on the cover if he designs it, but at least he's a resource that should be able to advise you.

Nonsense, there is a truckload of evidence, coconspirators have plead guilty, and Trump is probably implicated in some of the crimes.  He ordered the Justice Department to drop the charges as a trade for help with his deportation plans, and they reserved the right to reindict him if he doesn't do what he's told.

The Evolutionation Theory is mythology, a literary talewritten by dumb Jews.

What you are contending requires a direct refutation of the most general principles of most of our physical and biological sciences. As a unifying theory of biology, evolution holds true. Its mechanisms are by no means completely understood and it does not in any way eliminate the mystery of life, question the existence of Allah, or bring into doubt any of the basic tenets of Islam.

Just like Astrology, it's a bunch of anecdotes & ad hocsuperstition & after the fact convenient stories. It is the greatest mostelaborate myth ever conceived by Man.
The theory of evolution is the great unifying principle of biology, as powerful a model to biology as Newton's model was to physics. The conceptual framework of the theory of evolution makes sense of a profoundly wide range of scientific facts and it does it in a magnificent and comprehensive way. It provides a principle of unity, a framework by which science can attempt to explain, to unify, and to order, a vast amount of disparate data into a consistent whole providing tremendous coherence and clarity. To deny evolution you must bring into question the entire interwoven fabric of scientific research.

Flat out denial of the theory of Evolution requires the concomitant denial of an astounding range of scientific disciplines, not just the disciplines of geology, paleontology, archeology, radiometric dating, genetics, and zoology but also such fundamental disciplines as physics, astronomy, astrophysics, chemistry, biochemistry, geophysics, biology, botany, microbiology, and meteorology, and many others. Because of the interrelated aspect of the sciences, you can't really propose that the theory evolution is false without being fundamentally anti-scientific. You can contend that the theory of evolution is incomplete, nobody claims it is complete. If you could in fact, deny the theory of evolution, it would, in effect, unravel the world of science.

And I just don't see why anyone would want to do that. I simply do not see evolution challenging any of the basic tenets of Islam; unfortunately, I can't say the same thing about your contention here. In order to support the belief that evolution is false, you accordingly have to postulate that Allah is deceptive, don't you?

You would need to propose that Allah who would create Man with a rational mind, a sense of wonder, and seeking intellect, while creating a universe with the false appearance of tremendous age, with the overwhelming evidence of "evolution" occurring in creation as a hoax or something. This concept of a deceptive Allah is very hard to accept, it strikes me as a much greater challenge to Islam than any damage the concept of evolution could ever hope to do.

When You're so liberal you're actually conservative
-->
@Moozer325
I saw a meme about this a while ago (have since forgotten it), but ever since I heard this sentence it's honestly crazy how much I've seen it really be true. Obviously more often the radicals on both sides have more different than in common, but it's so funny to see some really radical leftists doing exactly what radical conservatives are doing, and excusing it only because "we're the good guys, and they're the bad guys". I think Destiny on Twitter is a perfect example of this, go check him out if you want to see what I mean.

As extremism has grown on both sides, what the words liberal and conservative refer to have become closer together than either is with the middle views, somehow, I think they have come to represent two “polar opposite” categories of one and the same extremism.

To say that “opposites” are “polar” is to say a lot more than they are opposed or separated; it is to say that they constitute a whole. There is a reciprocal, transactional relationship being described. Polar opposites don’t even exist without each other, they are contingent upon each other, you just can’t have one without the other. Polar opposites are like the two sides of a coin, or the two ends of a stick; they refer to two opposing aspects of one and the same thing.

Seen as mirror images of one and the same extremist, they are not mutually exclusive at all; in fact, they are mutually sustaining, reciprocal in their true nature.

I think they are mirror images, the same but inverted, and yet they don't recognize themselves in the mirror.

But then again, they say all wars are internal wars, so maybe on a deep level they do recognize themselves, and perhaps that is why they need the fight.

“Every extreme attitude is a flight from self.” – Eric Hoffer (The Passionate State of Mind)

I read this thread out of morbid curiosity to see just how impervious to logic and reason you are, and it's over the top.

You do realize you are talking about 1.1% the workforce, that's the percentage of workers that are earning minimum wage or less.

All this drama about how paying a living wage to the bottom 1% will somehow explode prices, upend the global economy, and only the rich benefit is just nonsense, if a percent of workers have a living wage it will have negligible effect on prices.  It's one percent, and it's the 1 percent that spends the least, they represent about a tenth of a percent of total demand, if the demand for eggs goes up a tenth of a percent, prices don't skyrocket, it just means a few more people can afford breakfast.

You really need to get a grip, this MAGA mentality has just obliterated your capacity to reason, not everything is a conspiracy, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

I agree that we can all get behind eradicating fraud and abuse, but that statement is nothing but a distraction, the current process is specifically designed to increase fraud and abuse.  Replacing the competent with loyalists is itself fraudulent and abusive, and it is a necessary preparation for more fraud and abuse.

There is a full-frontal assault on the FBI and DOJ, especially anyone that has ever investigated members of the current regime for fraud or abuse, the message is clear, the intent is clear.  This administration is not "eradicating", it is facilitating.
Entirely agreed. I’ve been giving a lot of these arguments the benefit of any doubt regarding their real aims vs. stated aims, but especially given how Elon Musk in particular has used dismantling USAID and CFPB to both end cases against him and pave the road forward for his own companies to make massive bank,
Practically everything Trump campaigned on was fraudulent, from the big lie that he won the 2020 election to the economy toimmigration to abortion – everything he campaigned on was based on easily provable lies. Despite Trump’s screeching assertions,inflation was down, growth was up, illegal border crossings were down, crime wasdown, vaccines work great, and the Chinese don't pay for tariffs, American's do.

it’s not even particularly well hidden.
They are not even trying to hide it, bragging about it instead.  When Trump said "I could shoot somebody on 8th avenue and wouldn't lose a single vote" he was bragging about just how far he could go as a criminal and his followers would still support him.  I thought that was insulting to his base when he said it, thought his campaign was over, hell, he has proven again and again that he was right, he has

Somehow the conspiracy mindset allowed Trump to discredit all of our sources of information.  The mainstream media in the enemy of the people, the imaginary "deep state" runs the government, scientists are conspiring against us, once the sheeple swallow that garbage, you can't even have a rational discussion about anything.  Probably the most privileged American ever played the victim and got away with it, it's like the country became a Fellini movie.

34 Felonies, that's not about his crimes, it's evidence of the plot against him, two impeachments, that just proves it's the government that's corrupt, multiple fraud convictions, that is evidence of witch hunts, 27 accusations of sexual assault, just shows how much they are out to persecute poor, innocent little rich kid.

Trump ran against the truth and won, and now, we are truly fucked.

Fact is, throughout history, revolutions that overthrow the government occur when the gap between the haves and the have nots gets too great, it might be clothed in ideologies, but it's always income inequality.

And to your thought experiment, you are right on.  Everybody seems to think AI will eventually do everything and nobody will have to work and that will be great, that is so naive, the only people that will be good for are the bazillionaires that own the AI, when AI gets to the point where nobody has to work, it will also be when nobody has a job, and they don't have any money either, and the ruling Oligarchy is not going to give them any.  There is no AI utopia in our future, there is only an AI utopia for the ruling oligarchs, and then the revolution.

This is a coalition government forming ideals we can all get behind like eradicating fraud and abuse.
I agree that we can get behind eradicating fraud and abuse, I don't agree with the use of the term "coalition government."

Every worker can have a vote on the board. So simple, just buy the stock and risk some investment.

Not only do they get to vote, they can set their own salary to whatever they want.
To do that they need to buy 51% of the stock.
