Why Do Evangelicals Follow Trump?
-->
@TheDredPriateRoberts
I'm not saying either one is a wonderful choice and it is pick your poison.  Nope you don't have to vote for either, but one of them will win.  Biden has been accused and according to his V.P. pick they should be believed.  Then there's all the child sniffing etc.  Point is we are in an age of picking the lesser evil, that will not change, ever.
I'm aware of that, but there has to come a point where the lesser evil is still too evil to vote for. Anyone who is guilty of sexual assault is well past that point.
then they aren't really pro life and their 'faith/religious conviction' is greatly questioned.  If you belong and believe in a church and they preach past and present that abortion is murder then either follow along or leave and find one who fits YOUR beliefs.  Classic saints on Sunday and wilful sinners the rest of the days.
I genuinely have no idea what you mean here. Who's they? The point I was making was that,  statistically speaking, the abortion rate isn't really affected by who the president is. I can't figure out how your response relates to that point.

@TheDredPriateRoberts
The reality is that I don't have to vote for either one. Also, according to the data, the annual number of abortions isn't really affected by the president.

I don't disagree that Trump's policies are less bad than Biden's. However, there comes a point when less bad isn't good enough. Any candidate who has committed sexual assault isn't good enough, to severely understate the case.

People who Don't Wear Masks in a Pandemic are Absolute Morons

@lady3keys
Have we really become so stupid as a country, that we will take the word of a petty, childish, faux-politician over the doctors, scientists and experts that have spent their lives specializing in their fields?  Do we really just believe the loudest voice in the room, no matter how petulant, self-serving or misleading?
Sadly, I think the answer is yes to both questions.

I agree with you. As a Christian, I can't support someone who's been accused of sexual assault by dozens of women or who boasts on a live camera about groping women. Why do evangelicals support him? I think it's mostly because they think he's better than the alternative policy-wise. David French of The Dispatch and formerly of National Review has written some articles on why evangelicals support Trump (as well as some on why he doesn't). You can look those up if you want.

@Stephen
What absolute claptrap. You need to learn how to read your bible.
I was going to ask you why what I said is claptrap, but, to your credit, you explained in a post to TradeSecret.
That's your job. You are claiming something I haven't claimed. Psalm 51 is traditionally claimed to have been composed by David as a confession to his god after he sinned with Bathsheba?
 So this is Davids opinion and belief.
Yes and no. Yes, it is David's opinion and belief, but it is not just David's opinion and belief.

2 Peter 1:19 - 21
19 We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (emphasis mine).

The biblical writers were human, but, according to the Bible, God spoke through them. So while David wrote those words, they are God's words as well. But since you want it "from the Almighty Himself," I will oblige you. Let's start in Genesis 3.

Genesis 3:17-19
“Cursed is the ground because of you;
    through painful toil you will eat food from it
    all the days of your life.
18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you,
    and you will eat the plants of the field.
19 By the sweat of your brow
    you will eat your food
until you return to the ground,
    since from it you were taken;
for dust you are
    and to dust you will return.”

While this is spoken directly to Adam, this curse applies to the whole human race. How do I know this? It's simple, really. I know this because everyone dies, not just Adam. Here's what the Bible says about this curse.

Romans 5:12-21
12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—
13 To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyone’s account where there is no law. 14 Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come.
15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! 16 Nor can the gift of God be compared with the result of one man’s sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification. 17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!
18 Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people. 19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
20 The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, 21 so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

It's clear from this passage that the curse in Genesis 3 applies to everyone. Let's move on to another place where God Himself once again declares that everyone deserves death.

Genesis 6:11-13
11 Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. 13 So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.

Notice who God is saying deserves death in this passage. "I am going to put an end to all people." That includes children. Here's what God says just after the flood.

Genesis 8:21
21 The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood."

Here you have it from the Lord Himself that everyone is evil from childhood. It would seem that that isn't just David's opinion after all. According to God Himself, everyone is evil. Everyone is under the curse of death.

@Stephen
 Where in the OT  is it that god condemns all babies to death for sin.
Certainly. (All quotes from the NIV)

Psalm 14:2
"The Lord looks down from heaven
    on all mankind
to see if there are any who understand,
    any who seek God.
3 All have turned away, all have become corrupt;
    there is no one who does good,
    not even one."

This verse tells us plainly that all mankind, which includes babies, are corrupt.
We learn in the very first biblical passage about sin what the penalty for sin is.
Genesis 3:17-19
“Cursed is the ground because of you;
    through painful toil you will eat food from it
    all the days of your life.
18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you,
    and you will eat the plants of the field.
19 By the sweat of your brow
    you will eat your food
until you return to the ground,
    since from it you were taken;
for dust you are
    and to dust you will return.” (emphasis mine, obviously).

It's just the same as it is in the New Testament. All are sinners, with no exceptions, and the penalty for sin is death. These verses are just the tip of the iceberg. There are countless verses in the Bible discussing sin and the punishment it deserves.
There are over 30 verses in the bible claiming people to be "innocent" and or "blameless".

blameless
adjective
Innocent of wrongdoing.

Were not Zechariah and Elizabeth said to have been blameless in the eyes of god?  Or are you going to tell me that to be blameless in ancient times meant that Zechariah and Elizabeth were fond of threesomes and hard core porn?

What are the sins committed by  first born children/babies?

Try reading the psalms of David for instance and tell me who "the innocent" are that are being refereed to?  And what about the Philippians?

"Prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach ".

How can anyone then,  according to your maths,  ever hope to " prove themselves innocent" when you and your maths  say "everyone is a sinner."
All of these questions can be answered from a single passage of Scripture.

Psalm 51 (The first nine verses would be enough, but I'll quote the whole thing just because I like it.)

For the director of music. A psalm of David. When the prophet Nathan came to him after David had committed adultery with Bathsheba.
1 Have mercy on me, O God,
    according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
    blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash away all my iniquity
    and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I know my transgressions,
    and my sin is always before me.
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned
    and done what is evil in your sight;
so you are right in your verdict
    and justified when you judge.
5 Surely I was sinful at birth,
    sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
6 Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb;
    you taught me wisdom in that secret place.
7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
    wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
8 Let me hear joy and gladness;
    let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
9 Hide your face from my sins
    and blot out all my iniquity.
10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
    and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence
    or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation
    and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
    so that sinners will turn back to you.
14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,
    you who are God my Savior,
    and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
15 Open my lips, Lord,
    and my mouth will declare your praise.
16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it;
    you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.
17 My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit;
    a broken and contrite heart
    you, God, will not despise.
18 May it please you to prosper Zion,
    to build up the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then you will delight in the sacrifices of the righteous,
    in burnt offerings offered whole;
    then bulls will be offered on your altar.

What sins have babies committed? "Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me." We are sinful by nature. We sin because it is our nature to sin. We are not sinners because we sin. We sin because we are sinners. How, then, can anyone be blameless in the eyes of God? "Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin." The only reason anyone can be blameless is because of God's mercy. We can be blameless be God can make us blameless. Let me return to Romans 3, which I quoted earlier. Let me add the context.

Romans 3:21-26
21 But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22 This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26 he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

This is the gospel. It isn't about some vicious, angry God kills people on a whim, nor is it about some lovey-dovey God who closes His eyes to evil. It is about a God who created people who rebelled against him and, in so doing, became sinful by nature. Rather than immediately give us the punishment we deserve, He made a way of redemption. His Son sacrificed Himself, taking our punishment. It is only through faith in Him that we can become blameless and innocent in His sight.

All right, you're probably tired of me preaching to you now (Actually, you were probably tired of that before I even started, but I got carried away). Hopefully I answered your questions, or at least gave you some things to think about. However, this is one more that I have yet to answer because it wasn't really relevant to the topic we're discussing.
So if the Bible is true,

Are you asking me or telling me?
Presuming you aren't merely being rhetorical here, the answer is neither. While I believe the Bible is true, I know that you don't. Thus, I wrote my conclusion as a hypothetical scenario ("If the Bible is true, then X") because to you, it is hypothetical.

You keep saying that these were "innocent" people or "innocent" children. However, according to the Bible, no one is innocent. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) Furthermore, the Bible also says, "For the wages of sin is death." (Romans 6:23) If we put 2 and 2 together, this means that everyone deserves death because everyone is a sinner. So if the Bible is true, then God is justified when he kills people.

Shape of Space vs Form vs Pattern of Space
-->
@ebuc
While a theoretical line would not be a shape because it is assumed to have no thickness, an actual line has to have thickness in order to exist. This is because an actual line would have to be made up of particles, and particles have thickness. Consequently, actual lines do have defined areas and are shapes.

One objection to this could be that the line might be made of energy rather than matter. At first, this appears to circumvent the need to have particles and creates a theoretical line with no thickness. However, this objection cannot stand because of the particle-wave duality of matter and energy. At its most basic form, even energy consists of particles. Therefore, the original argument stands. An actual line is a shape.

Of course, my argument falls like a house of cards because your post implicitly assumes a theoretical line. This makes it obvious that my argument is merely nitpicking. That being said, theoretical lines exist only in theory and not in reality. Thus, while my argument is a clear example of nitpicking, it nevertheless makes a valid point.

no two decks of cards randomly shuffled have probably ever been in the same order
-->
@n8nrgmi
This is kind of cool. It only works if the deck is thoroughly shuffled, though. Since many decks of cards come in a particular order, and it seems likely that a reasonably large number of people don't shuffle them thoroughly the first time, it wouldn't surprise me if people have gotten the same deck order. However, the calculation you posted assumes a randomly shuffled pack, so I'm not sure my scenario would count.

Goodbye
Well, this is it, friends. I intend this to be my final post on DART. This is hard for me to write. Inwardly, I am a very emotional person, although I rarely show it. I can honestly say that I love you all. I am aware that I have not always succeeded in showing it. To everyone that I have hurt, I unreservedly apologize, and I hope for your forgiveness. This has been an interesting chapter of my life. In many ways, it has been good. You have been good to me. However, this site has also exposed some things about me that I am not proud of. This persona of SirAnonymous is an odd fellow. In some ways, I like him. I was unaware that I could actually write humor that others would appreciate. I am surprised that I can be good as a Judas in mafia but awful as town. However, I see his bluntness toward those he disagrees with, and I cringe. I see where he has been harsh, and the harshness crushes me. SirAnonymous is a mask, and it is a mask that I have a love/hate relationship with. But what repulses me most about SA is that he is me, and I am ashamed of some of what I've seen. It is time for this knight to lay down his sword. If I choose to pick it up again, I hope that I am ready to carry it. I wasn't ready this time, just as I wasn't ready when I was on DDO. But enough about me.

I want to tell all of you that I genuinely care about you. Some of you I have interacted with enough to be friends, as much as anyone can be friends through the guise of anonymous online accounts. I will miss you all. You have been the best part of my time here. Though not all of you believe that it will do any good, I will pray for you all. Perhaps someday I will "Come Home" to DART as this song says. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nb4leFqWI5E (Ok, that's not exactly what it says). I don't know. Perhaps I will return. Perhaps I will pop in occasionally. Perhaps this is the last you will ever hear of me. Only time will tell. If I do come back, it will not be for at least half a year.

As logicae would say, "To Truth!" I encourage you all to continue your search for truth. Never value your own opinions and biases over the truth.

The Reptile has already left Discord. It is now time for the Knight to leave DART. I lay down my sword.

May the grace and peace of God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

Sincerely,
SirAnonymous, unworthy child of the only worthy King. To Him be all the glory.

I've realized that this site is taking up far too much of my time. I don't have the motivation to continue. I'll be leaving as of now. I may log in briefly later to say a few final goodbyes. Thank you all very much for being good to me for the few months I've been here. I am sorry to have to quit in the middle of the mafia and Survivor games. I to thank you all for being good friends to me. Thank you for putting up with my bad jokes and laughing at my satire. If I have offended or wronged any of you, I sincerely apologize. I wish all of you the very best. As a final request, learn to forgive others. The recent events on the Political Engine server have created a lot of drama and controversy. Don't bear anyone any grudges for it. I don't think I have made any enemies while I'm here, and for that I'm glad. If I have done so unintentionally, please accept my complete apologies.
