I posted a video, forget which one, but it was interesting, during WWII the Germans designed a submachine gun, don't recall the name but it translated into assault gun or something to that effect, apparently they like naming their weapons like that, it was a fear/propaganda thing.

I get that, but we are taught, conditioned to think that everything comes from something and there can't be no-thing which can't explain where a consciousness could have come or originated, it can't come from no-thing and if it came from something (energy if you will) then how did that come to be?
even the big bang theory still involves something, mass, energy, whatever, came from somewhere and is expanding into something because it can't expand into no-thing. Even if someone argues it came from a different dimension then again, that must have some from something/somewhere and on it goes.
Trying to comprehend no beginning is the limit of our understanding and ability to explain or rationalize etc, that is belief, you just have to believe it. I'm not saying that it's incorrect or anything of the sort but gladly accept it's beyond my level of understanding.

right because some dumb-asses can't see their own bigotry for thinking all immigrants are the same color/race, the projection would be laughable except it's really sad instead of funny.
if people don't want to keep their money they are free to do with it what they wish, I shouldn't be forced under penalty of the government to support illegals whatever their color or nationally is, my money is already stolen from me to support many who don't want to support themselves.
it's my own fault for engaging him.

consistent enforcement of broken, draconian laws.
no one is entitled to come to the U.S. especially illegally, every country has similar laws yet you think they are draconian?
Literally none of them advocate for open borders.
yeah you could be right
Tulsi Gabbard: 'It's fair' to say 2020 Democrats advocate for 'open borders'
how about a liberally biased source?
Most 2020 Democrats have now embraced decriminalizing illegal border crossings, a policy that the liberal website Vox calls “the most radical immigration idea in the 2020 primary.”
Immigration just relies on people living their lives.
no it relies on them contributing more than they are taking as to not be a drain on citizens.
It could be racism, it could just be a hatred of poor people or the idea of community in general.
ahhh there we go, your true colors show, when all else fails call people racist, classic leftist tactic, you are so typical.
You are assuming that workers making a living wage would drive up all prices. That simply isn't true.
I disagree with your opinion. costs are costs, businesses are in business to make money and not just eat their cost of production or operations.
if those owners want to keep their skilled laborers, then they would need to pay more.
which is what has already been happening right? Many businesses have had to increase wages to get employees, however at some breaking point they will raise prices or close shop.
Unions were useful once, now they are just corrupt business killers, very sad, I was in a union and very pro union.

that was a really good part in the movie
absolute nothing
this I guess is the core issue for me. I forget the gist of it, but there was something about nothing exists without an observer, something like that, but there must be something there to observe. It's difficult for me to think or change my way of thinking that things are created and destroyed (change forms is probably a better term) Law of conservation of mass energy. If it's neither created nor destroyed it still had to come from somewhere. That is how we think generally speaking.
How was the universe created if physics states matter can neither be created nor destroyed?
this just basically says mass came from energy
but where did the energy come from?
even the subatomic particles are made up of things, that came from where?

You are advocating for draconian restrictions to immigration. That is more restrictive laws.
nope not at all, consistent enforcement of current laws, not more.
And literally no one is advocating for that.
some of the candidates do.
so because people need services provided, we should just prevent people from coming to america? That is a dumb argument.
if that means it inhibits or takes more money from citizens, then yes.
Tax revenue those children will generate once they gain an education and get a job.
lol yeah sure, how about legal citizens? sure, some will, but how many? enough to offset all the ones that won't generate a positive, rather than a drain?
And those children will be a massive boost to the economy and pay back that investment many times over.
sure like the trickle down economy that didn't work either, we have massive debt but you are thinking generations into the future while the debt climbs and there is no guarantee that will be a boost with increased automation etc.
This in turn greatly increases the tax base and more than pays for the investment.
not exactly, all that really matters is what you have to spend, not so much what you earn, also purchasing power. $15 per hour don't mean shit if gas is $10 a gallon, milk is $5 etc.
it's no different when the price of gas spiked, trucking companies raised their prices due to increased costs as did the companies who used them to also offset increased costs, increase wages is an increased cost, you should expect prices will increase to offset those costs just like any other cost. that and small businesses will close. I fail to see how this would be beneficial.
what about the people currently making $5 above minimum, do you think they will make $20? I think their pay will stay the same but their purchasing power will be less because of the increased costs that will happen.
You seem to complain about and praise the system at the same time. It is baffling how you hold such contradictory thoughts as true in your head at the same time.
really? hmm while I consider it the best system it's not perfect so it would make sense and be logical to praise what you like about it and complain about the parts you don't. Which economic system is all or nothing for you? which one do you find perfect and have no complaints with? I'm just dying to know.

I don't advocate for more laws lol that's what is currently happening with the dummycrats, do try to keep up. they are the party of restrictions and laws, they even try to push for censorship in the guise of hate speech laws.
obviously you don't know or understand what a pragmatic libertarian is.
If immigration was reformed, then they wouldn't be illegal. Problem solved.
open borders or no restrictions is not a reform
you should examine the financial examples with some of the cities that raised their minimum wages to $15 and see how they fared.
Here's the nothing, there is no free stuff, you get that right? someone is paying for it right?
Buffalo schools try to keep pace with kids speaking 83 languages
https://buffalonews.com/2018/11/24/buffalo-schools-try-to-keep-pace-with-kids-speaking-83-languages/
where do you think the money comes from to pay for interpreters and all other needs? the money fairey?
how about a school systems where the student population quickly increases because of illegals, they would need more teachers, infrastructure etc, again that's not free right? We can add in food and medical assistance, toss in some other entitlements and you think even $15 would offset those increased costs?
You don't think with increase costs for a business via increased wages, they in turn wouldn't increase prices? I mean it's simple to figure out.
why are prices for pretty much everything so expensive in California? check out their gas and food etc. Isn't it the wealthiest state in the U.S.? so how could it also have the highest costs and no housing?

America used to about liberty
liberty like more unconstitutional laws and restrictions?, yep it used to be about liberty, the only liberty is libertarians which you are not so I'm not sure you have much to point fingers at.
imagine if all these illegals, unskilled works were now making $15 per hour? that would be an even larger drain on the economy since prices will go up drastically.
there's been some examples of what happens when the wages are increased like that, unintended consequences.
a fruit picker with a family can not contribute more to the economy than what they use, schools, other public services, healthcare etc.

sure I agree with that, but what was it before it was consciousness? it had to be something right? because to our/my understanding it couldn't be nothing, so it had to be something before it was consciousness.
I think of it much like the "big bang" what did matter and what is everything expanding into? It can't be nothing, it must be something. And if that's true where did that something come from?
this is very enjoyable btw.

The people involved in the extortion have refused to testify. So saying they didn't know is ridiculous because the people who would actually know the answer to that question have actively refused to answer it under oath.
If I tell you I'm planning on extorting someone, but that someone never knows about it, does it even matter? It's the whole tree falling in the woods thing.
Have you ever told someone you were going to do something and then didn't?
Was there extortion? Nope just rumors that it might have happened, but didn't.
He isn't being accused of a crime at present, so that statement is irrelevant.
they aren't confirming a crime, so what exactly are they confirming, just their assumptions, sure they used different words but they are just opinions and assumptions.
He has committed WAY more impeachable acts than just what they brought.
riiightt and they didn't bring them because they were just being nice? LOL
again no one ever batted an eye when Biden threaten to hold billion dollars if they didn't fire an attorney, yet you want Trump to go through the FBI to ask another country to do their own investigation into something. somehow that's not extortion?
Created:

@HistoryBuff
He withheld aid hours after a call with them. That's extortion.
lol not if they didn't know it, you can't extort someone without them knowing you are doing in this manner, the "witnesses" for the Democrats have admitted on video the Ukranians didn't know it was being delayed.
So saying the very few people who defied orders to testify can't confirm something is in no way evidence it didn't happen.
irrelevant, innocent until proven guilty.
It was blatant abuse of office. The cover up was criminal though.
I don't believe those were the charges they brought, in fact they dropped a few of them they started out with.

I get that part but where/when did the "infinite conscious platform" come from/start? I haven't seen a way to explain that other than, that's just the way it is, it has always been so, which really doesn't answer the questions.
Created:

What he can't do is send his personal attorney to dig up dirt on his political rivals and strong arm foreign governments into helping.
afaik there is no mention in the articles about his personal attorney but rather the phone call
again his defense has debunked anything that could be considered "strong arm' tactics. The video shows all those who testified, even the ambassador etc and they all admit the Ukraine didn't know about the aid, everything is just their opinion and assumptions. Like I said I don't like how Trump says stuff and has done stuff but this isn't what they are claiming it is.
Think about it though and ask from any U.S. president is a pretty big deal and he knew that, but doesn't make it a crime.
Created:

@dustryder
I'm not sure the issue was that he asked for an investigation but rather the investigation involved the Bidens.
was there a reason she gave that justifies going through a back-channel rather than official channel
that I don't know, I don't know the process for doing that, nor do I know if he couldn't actually ask for it, but again even lifelong democrats are defending him on this issue. Dershowitz (sp) I believe, if he's willing to defend Trump that says a lot to me because I believe he'd have plenty of reasons to not defend this issue. I believe he's not defending Trump as much as the constitution and this whole process.
HistoryBuff answered it in part after my post,
No one has ever argued that the president can't ask for an investigation. He certainly can.

the "infinite regression" I can't overcome because all we can really understand are beginnings and endings.
Can something be created that you don't know anything about? Certainly that doesn't seem possible from our understanding of things. Based on that the concepts of "fun" or whatever must be known to have been created. Unless it's been a "hands off" creation. Like tossing seeds in the dirt and whatever grows, grows, you do nothing other that put the seeds in.
It's possible this planet was "seeded" I guess. But who or what planted those seeds and where did they come from etc (infinite regression)
someone/something would also have to create that which created the simulation, which then asks the question as to why, to what ends. I'm not sure you can have that without a God in the context of what we have been discussing.
Created:

@HistoryBuff
you are missing the point I'm trying to explain, if what she says is true, then it would be justified for him to ask for an investigation, therefore not an impeachable offense, which it's not even if what she said isn't correct, but just playing devil's advocate.
it also has a strong potential to drag them in to testify and or be further investigated.

@HistoryBuff
you may want to watch it then, there appears to be a lot of information that wasn't revealed, selectively, and if true I can see why they wouldn't want the public to know it.
if what she says is true then I think there is an argument to validate asking for an investigation into the energy company etc, which would then negate any sort of "crime" they are trying to dream up with regards to that one issue.

the U.S. didn't even build the statue lol, the poem was used to raise money for the pedestal so even that wasn't government funded it would seem. If that poem is the best argument they got it's quite laughable.
Regardless of that immigration has always been a legal process, not just border jumping or staying illegally in any other manner.
Created:

I've said this many times, and I believe it to be true. There is great benefit to keeping people poor and dependant on the government. Self sufficient people are very difficult to control, you have very little to promise them.
Created:

@bmdrocks21
why would you let someone in the country who will end up costing you money?
because they will keep you in power, that is the only answer really.
look at all the things they want to give illegals, driver's license, health care etc while largely ignoring the veterans, homeless and poor citizens.
Created:

he won't cause unnecessary controversy imo, don't get me wrong Trump has done some good things but the unneeded crap has really cast a dark shadow over all of the accomplishments. If he'd of kept that stuff to a minimum 2020 would be cake, now I'm not so sure. But still better than hillary.
this whole impeachment thing is a farce in that all presidents have done, do things that benefit them, it's impossible to do otherwise.
What confuses me is they must have known the bidens would be dragged into it, I see no support for bernie by them and not all that much for pocahontas.
this is a really dangerous game they have started and I don't see a way this won't blow up in their faces.

Evolution myths: Everything is an adaptation
this is the way I look at it
Created:
Posted in:
-->
@ludofl3x
I'm about to the limit of my understanding which isn't very much anyway. But the way I hear evolution and adaptation described as 2 different things but the examples I have read so far are just adaptation. If it's just adaptation then what is evolution?
I'll try to search some more.
Created:
Posted in:
-->
@ludofl3x
sorry I meant the stimuli or event that causes the adaptation
We can shape species artificially through artificial selection
yes we can design them like that .....intelligently :)
true evolution happens with no apparent hand at the wheel.
saw I guy interviewing some atheist scientist asking them for one example of evolution, they couldn't come up with one, just adaptation. Do you have an example of evolution that isn't just adaptation?
Created:
Posted in:
-->
@ludofl3x
oh I dunno, is adaptation random or planned? if it's planned or directed it must be done by an intelligent designer aka God, it's just another world building game, but we are the game.
Created:
Posted in:
-->
@ludofl3x
naw when something adapts or is naturally selected it's the same organism but a change is caused usually be an outside/environment force. Like the lizards who swim underwater and feed on the green stuff the grows on the rocks. they adapted to this environment, those that did not died out (natural selection)
now if they somehow because mammals imo that would be evolution.
Created:

@ludofl3x
why do viruses reproduce? to create other viruses, that is their purpose as well as other things they can do. A rock on the other hand does nothing, it does not purposefully divert water or air, it just happened to be in the right place at the right time. viruses actively reproduce etc.
Would you say once reproduction is accounted for, that all other 'purposes' are difficult to figure out?
yes
Like why the F are there so many disgusting versions of wasps?
adaptation, I dislike them as well
Also what's the difference in your view between adaptation and evolution, exactly?
Adaptation is the process of adjusting something to better match it's environment or situation.
evolution is the change of one species into two or two becoming like one, changing from one thing into something different.
Created:
Posted in:
-->
@ludofl3x
no, that's a purpose you escribe to it, it's not actually doing it, it just happens to be there when the water flowed through, unlike a virus which replicates, changes, infects a host etc. A virus that does not do those things, can't exist. I use virus because that's the simplest "life form" I can think of.
Created:

@Outplayz
I see where you went with that... do you think a simulation theory/argument is a good one for ID?
sure I would see them as the same basic idea I think.
Created:
Posted in:
-->
@Outplayz
even the most very basic life forms replicate because that is their purpose, things that do not have this purpose do not exist. Since I have yet to hear an example of evolution (not adaptation) the most reasonable explanation is intelligent design which then points to purpose.
a rock has no purpose of its own, it just is
Created:

that makes sense at least from what understand, living things are purpose driven, even if that only purpose is to survive, multiply.

why people keep ignoring the obvious is going to be their downfall, they bury their heads in the sand because the truth is too scary. it won't be long before fire arms will be just made in the home then all these laws, safety devices etc will be even more useless.
How long ago where the 3d plans released? better plans must exist by now right? Certainly better materials are now available. These things get better and cheaper no matter how badly they wish it weren't so.
they can continue to try and live in some fantasy land and not face the realities. You must change society, people's values and hearts. Laws can't do that, but they won't or can't admit that. So here we are still talking about laws etc.

that's interesting we have similar thoughts. the thought of not having my body, remaining me, the individual is frighting as you described. to think we are just extensions of one thing and we'd just be absorbed into it and loose our individualism doesn't sound fun.
I don't know what I believe but I do like to discuss it.
Created:

@EtrnlVw
I'm not objecting to anything. My view is one life time experience is so tiny and restricted compared to what is described in the time period after this life, it seems rather inadequate in the context, rather trivial really. Which then raises the question, why even bother?
the discussion/theory of "nothing" is also interesting
certainly we are limited in so many ways, including our understanding. we have limits and we understand and are bound by them, I'm not sure how to even imagine anything without limits, or a beginning.
Created:

it just seems with such limited time (more so for some) and in context with the vastness of everything and time, this extremely limited time and experience seems so inadequate with the limited experiences and knowledge we gain over a lifetime.
perhaps I'll need to see what I can find as to why souls were created in the first place but that seems like the infinite regression problem.

@Varrack
Yes. Even if 10% of people complied with the law, that would be a net benefit.
2018 there were about 26 million nics checks and you think 10% will comply who aren't already responsible?
guess you'd want the police to enter homes randomly to do safety storage checks? I mean how could this ever be monitored for compliance?
so you think they would comply with this law when they won't use the trigger lock that is provided with every new purchase?
Prove it. Both limit the constitutional right to a gun, a right that criminals possess also.
Last year a circuit judge in Illinois deemed that state's licensing system inconsistent with the Second Amendment in a case that is headed for the Illinois Supreme Court.
The Second Amendment confers no positive right. It recognizes a pre-existing right. The Second Amendment is merely a limitation on federal power to infringe gun rights in addition to the fact that there is no authority granted to the federal government by the Constitution to infringe them in the first place.
biometric locks
a trigger lock and keeping them out of the reach of children works wonders but there's always enough dumb asses in the world who just don't care, no law can fix stupid.
Created:

@Varrack
The right to free speech is limited by copyright laws and libel laws, for example.
that's because those are infringing on someone else's rights.
And they should have to be stored with such too.
and? you think a law will make that happen? I don't understand what you are trying to say.
Should driving licenses be handed out to anyone who wants them
there is no constitutional right to drive that I know of, please provide the source if I'm incorrect.
approving or denying based on a criminal or other prohibition is NOT the same as requiring everyone have a license.
Created:

@Varrack
requiring a license to own a gun
then it's not a right, if you have to be granted permission from the government, that's not a right, that which is granted can also be denied or taken away.
There are plenty of measures that can still keep guns in the hands of law-abiding owners while drastically reducing gun deaths.
like 22k in laws that already exist?
guns have to be sold with trigger locks, that has been a thing for a while, it's kind of like a bike lock (most of them)
how about police departments must offer no cost gun training to anyone who wants it? I'd be for that. Who has ever proposed any such thing? No one, because it's about people control, that is all.

Creation is not really that complicated
for me, when you try and apply infinite regression, that throws a monkey wrench into it or me.
I encounter a lot of people at work, when I see some, the lives they had/have, physical issues/illnesses, I often wonder about how our experiences are so vastly different good/bad, why? all the experiences I will never have, the ones I will have are infeticimile to the possible ones. Given that, why bother at all (from God's perspective) it's trivial compared to what we have discussed.
it's difficult because there's so much we don't know for context.
