I've talked but I think I just hear my own mind answering. Tbh there's no point in talking because if there is a God then he's not likely to interfere, I mean why would a God do that, just because we want whatever it is we want?
Remember as a child wanting a toy or something so badly (probably have to be old like me since kids now a days get way too much stuff) the emotions were quit real and strong, however our parents knew that we'd be fine w/o it and there were more important things etc. If there's a heaven/after life then this one is extremely trivial compared to that so no intervention is needed, fmpov.

remember when people cared, for a short time, about the deforestation of the rain forests? Was that problem solved or did people just shrug and move onto the next outrage? I remember discussing something similar a while ago, and what they found was, places that had increased CO2 had increased plant life. Go figure plants like CO2 whoda thunk it. Anyway where's a map that shows more green around desert and very arid places. And what do plants do? anyone? anyone? they produce what? anyone? anyone? Oxygen, that stuff we all need to live. Any what else do they do? They make roof top gardens in big cities, they heat or cool the area, anyone? They cool the area by absorbing the sun.
Air and water quality is a much better and easier fight, just ask people in Flint and Commiefornia.

University of Melbourne’s independent study by Lee and Suardi, 2008”, which states:
… the National Firearms Agreement did not have any large effects on reducing firearm homicide or suicide rates.
I'm snowed in and don't have access to my pc
The authors, however, noted that “no study has explained why gun deaths were falling, or why they might be expected to continue to fall.” That poses difficulty in trying to definitively determine the impact of the law, they write.
Anyway more has been posted a while ago on debate island by applesauce. I know you won't read it on your owm, so you'll have to waitfor the hand holding

again, this isn't just a bad person problem, it's a gun problem.
how is a gun a owned by a non criminal a problem? and then you said
but that doesn't necessarily mean that people getting guns causes murder to go up.
if people getting guns doesn't mean it increases the murder rates, how is it a gun problem?
though by your above statement you seem to accept that even though gun purchases went up, and even reached all time highs, the murder rate has been the lowest in recent history and trends downwards, sure seems like guns are NOT the problem.
so explain to me this gun problem that the ownership and sales have skyrocketed hit all time highs by a large amount and yet the murder rate goes down, circle that square if you please.

here's what I actually said in post #64
What is so difficult to understand that she has the absolute right to protect her own life?
and your dishonest claim of what is said was
you said with the exact words that she had an absolute right to kill him in post 64
here's why you are dishonest for those that can't seem to follow the logic or reasoning
as I stated she has as do we all the absolute right to protect our own lives when some criminal threats that life, she used the best tool to do that with, a gun, and it so happened he died, because of his actions forcing her to defend herself.
now let's examine your lie, the way you stated it, that if she had shot him and stopped him she would still be able to shoot him until he was dead, hence the absolute right to kill as you put it.
if you don't wish to have an honest conversation that's fine, but I have no problem pointing out your dishonesty for all to read and making you look foolish. You should choose your words more wisely.
I've lost track of how many times I have told you that I never said "she had an absolute right to kill him" that is a flat out lie and it's about time you admit it.
Here I'll give you an easy out, that your grasp of the English language is elementary school level because it's not your main language, and you just have a difficult time understanding it. I'll even help you out some, understand that difference between a right and justification, because that's pretty important and a HUGE difference.

Flexibility meaning what? I seem to recall she was in her bed room , what flexibility do you think she had, assuming she didn't want to be raped and or killed.
I think I see the problem , linate has totally distorted and changed the topic to something it's not.

Plisken was talking about the other case of the 2 guys who broke into the house in the UK and the guy shot them as they were leaving, and I've already addressed that.
time to step back? you don't even bother reading anything I post so stop replying or tagging me if you aren't even trying to be honest.
Now you are trying to tell me what I think, wtf do you even mean by an absolute right and where did I say any such thing? You are being extremely dishonest and you should either check yourself and grow tf up or stop engaging me.

the majority of democrats in office aren't as concerned with morality as they are with control, this is why they want to impose stricter controls on "x" but ignore the breaking of "y" laws.
that's not to say the religious right isn't opposed to it as well, but the 2 people in the video, the woman and Reid are democrats, if you find something similar with conservatives in their place I'd be happy to criticize them as well.

i think the woman was legally justified but i dont think she did the best course of action. she should have told him to drop the weapon and surrender, or something like that. she has total control given she has the gun. i think plisken is describing reasonable action and i think dred has the less reasonable response, and is skirting around the direct answer he thinks she has the absolute right to shoot him, because the world is not so cut and dry
best course of action you should make for yourself and not impose on others, you have NO right to tell someone what they should do to protect their own life.
What is so difficult to understand that she has the absolute right to protect her own life?
I don't I have educated you better than this over the years, I can only blame myself for not doing a better job. (these are trained people so keep that in mind)
When an officer experiences a threat, it takes on average .58 seconds to experience the threat and determine if it is real. It then takes on average .56 to 1.0 seconds to make a response decision. Humans have five possible responses to threat: defend (fight), disengage (retreat), posture (yell, point a finger, act aggressive), become hypervigilant (panic, confusion, freezing, using force excessively), and submit (surrender).
Equipment and competency
Accuracy of fire at close distances
Perception lag
I'll let you read the rest.
not that you are serious about actually learn and real facts, but there's plenty of videos on reaction times with someone closing the distance etc, but again I know you won't find the true out for yourself, Leftist never do, but instead armchair quarter back and want to control and tell people how and what do to with their very own safety and lives.

If the person home belives him to be a threat, they have the choice to do whatever they want or can to protect themselves or others.

where prostitution is legal there seems to be less crime etc compared to where it's not, kinda like gun free zones. Justification isn't required, it's about control and them telling us that they know what's best for us plain and simple. When you think about what they would allow us to do vs what they won't it makes you wonder about those things they do allow. Abortion is ok, but consensual sex for money is not, though if it's for free no problem. Few have ever picked up on these 'inconsistencies" and asked why it is that way, because lemmings trust the government with their safety, choices and pretty much their lives and many aspects of.

for most places (if not all) medication samples are a thing of the past. it's good and bad like most things. they often were given to people who couldn't afford them or had high co-pays. I like the idea of try it before you buy it, but since nothing was free they calculated the cost of the samples in what was actually sold. did stopping the samples decrease the medication costs? I doubt it. I don't believe it had any real effect on what was prescribed either, not in my experience anyway.
was stopping the samples have more positives and negatives?

p.o.s. Harry is a Democrat no denying that, the woman certainly sounds like one......seems rather hypocritical, then you look at the people working in the legal district and sure seems like the free market is working just fine.

In the U.S. you have a right to life, liberty etc If you can't control or otherwise protect your life, you have lost the right to it. in the U.S. you do NOT have the right to take someone else's life, that's called a crime.
You don't seem to realize or understand that you aren't anti gun, you are anti murder, which most people are. You are looking in the wrong places for solutions. Open your eyes and research it, even your biased link gives information for conflict resolution to stop violent crimes, that is the key, not this lemming mantra, guns bad.
Even when the gun sales reached all time highs the murder rate was still declining. Convince people murder is bad and not the answer and the problem solves itself.
It's a societal problem, but that's a different topic and perhaps for a different section.

can a "thing" be false is what I understand you are asking, which would be no. what I'm thinking about is a thing that seems like what it is but in fact is a fake or something different. it's not the things fault but rather our perception of what and how it should be. That glass of water, because we assume it's water, we are told it's water is actually a glass of vodka.
"it is what it is" seems most appropriate.

there's probably strong reasons why business, buildings and similar have armed guards, not to mention celebrities, politicians etc. In there eyes the rest of us don't deserve the same opportunity to protect ourselves, since we can't afford personal security. She defended herself and probably saved her own life and maybe others as well, this is one of the prime ways the 2a is meant to work, and it did.

read post #6
the leftist that most speak of and refer to using that word, in this context, are the ones who try to ban guns, want to do away with the 2a etc etc if they accomplish that, their advice is to call the police, when seconds count the police are just minutes away, this incident is a prime example of that. So their absurd premise that the police will some how arrive in the nick of time, like super heroes do is.....well......just stupid.
Created:

@keithprosser
Were any words exchanged? Did she warn him?
that isn't and shouldn't be required, it is not required of the police either. If you have time to warn, exchange words, fire a warning shot, you are not in immediate danger, is generally how the laws go.
twice more when they were trying to flee through the window of an adjacent ground floor room
from the link....this is illegal and a chargeable offense in the U.S.
but again this is more for those who think the police are the only ones who should have guns, probably wouldn't have worked out so well for her by the sounds of it.

she's in her bed room, convict breaks in, has a knife....that is the position she was put in, sorry thought it was obvious.
there are leftist who wish to do away with the 2a and outlaw guns, many states have tried to implement a needs test to own a firearm, then there's the whole stand your ground and castle doctrines that some states have but some see to end those, it certainly isn't by the right is it?
While I maybe wrong, fmpov the leftist whom I speak of (above) are the majority and those you speak of are the minority if not an endangered species.

I like how some people give advice to others as to how they should and shouldn't defend their own lives, well maybe not advice because it's more dictate, as they stand next to their armed guards, behind their walled mansions. But yeah who needs a firearm to protect themselves?........

@Mharman
With guns present...gun crime rate is increased
let me ask you to consider this
is it that guns being present = increase in gun crime rates or
criminals are more violent more willing to murder, have no respect for life etc than let's say (insert country here) and use a gun as the best tool for what they want to do.
because if no one wanted to murder then the number and kind of guns is totally irrelevant, true?
if we look at some of the shootings, even using full autos in Europe, it proves if someone really wants to do something like that, they can and will, they already have laws against that, yet still happened anyway.
Upon examining the words of the very crafters to the Australia gun ban, they themselves even admit they can't say it did anything to affect their already declining murder rates. We don't even have to look at the statistical studies that plainly point out no definitive evidence indicating the ban had any affect.
So why did and do murder rates decline? Because people decide to stop killing each other.
In the U.S. with no new laws and skyrocketing gun sales (the Obama years for example) the murder rates still declined, doesn't seem logical if guns are the problem does it?

Keep the language simple and easy to understand. Directly use the term "bump stocks".
they will change the design and call it something else, fyi slide fire came before the bump stock so......
What situation would a civilian use a bump stock for?
it's not useful at all imo, it's totally recreational as are many things, if usefulness was a criteria then silencers/supressors wouldn't be regulated like they are since that can be a noise and hearing loss issue.

Australia’s Gun Laws Are Not a Model for America
Personal conflicts biggest cause of murders in U.S.
“The pattern that stands out the most is we see a lot of intimate partner violence, mental health problems and substance abuse,” said the CDC’s Debra Karch, who led the study.
While police and politicians may stress crime-fighting to try to lower murder rates, the study suggests that equipping people to better handle conflict may be more effective.
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-deaths-usa/personal-conflicts-biggest-cause-of-murders-in-u-s-idUSTRE64C53R20100513
From 2006-2016, almost 6,885 people in the U.S. died from unintentional shootings. In 2016 alone, there were 495 incidents of accidental firearm deaths.
From 2005-2014, there were an average of 3,536 fatal unintentional drownings (non-boating related) annually in the United States — about ten deaths per day.1 An additional 332 people died each year from drowning in boating-related incidents.2
so about 3900 total per year according to the cdc vs 495 via firearms
According to the CDC, unintentional poisoning is the leading cause of injury death for all age groups.
and it's going up, not down.
I question the priorities of people who make arguments similar to the ones you do.
Australia-island, no bordering countries
Australia has an average population density of 3.3 persons per square kilometre of total land area, which makes it is one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world.
here's the U.S. so you can compare https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_and_territories_by_population_density
17 cities with 100k or more population
here's the U.S. list, you can count them https://www.infoplease.com/us/us-cities/us-cities-population-over-100000
we can get into population size and racial demographics but I don't think it's really necessary since just the physical difference alone are good enough
but here take it from an Australian, pay careful attention to #6 if the U.S. can and should learn anything from Australia is this.

groovy, how do you just ban bump stocks and under what criteria? I'm not a fan of government making arbitrary laws so I'm curious how this ban could be done that wouldn't and couldn't be used to ban other things as well. Let's be real here for a sec, you know they will try to word it in such a way as to make it apply to as many other things as possible. Much like the bill that would have essentially classified most semi auto rifles AND pistols as assault weapons, but yeah government isn't coming for your guns lol
