If the answer is yes, then call it, "Law and Order". If the answer is no, then call it, "Rebel Pride". You can get the right to back any policy you want with this logic.

I just don't like it when people say things they don't actually believe. How can I tell if they are being sincere? Politicians shouldn't be forced to grift to try and get popular appeal and there shouldn't be primaries; just a Rank Choice Voting election where the requirement to debate is you must have at least .5% of the population wanting you as a 1st choice.

As frustrating as it is all th people grifting woke nonsense for example orea making gay pride cookies when in all likelihood they don't give an actual shit. They should have the right to do this.
That's a good point. I've changed my mind on this issue because of this.

What would overthrowing the government look like?

@RationalMadman
You're basically saying having any contradiction
I said any obvious contradiction.
Being pro life and pro death penalty is a contradiction, but it isn't obvious. One who has these positions at the same time argues that those we know are innocent shouldn't be killed while those we assume are guilty of a horrible crime with due process would be killed.
A contradiction would be saying anti semites are bad while hanging out with obvious anti semites that you know are anti semites. If you don't like anti semites, then don't hang out with them. Disliking anti semites is different than disliking anti semitism.
Ben Shapiro talks about how bad anti semetism is while he does tours with Elon Musk who said someone saying pro Nazi talking points was "saying the actual truth". I do believe Ben Shapiro is a grifter based on him hating anti semites while liking Elon Musk. Musk said that a tweet that said that Jews push their hatred for whites was the actual truth.
The vast majority of Jews don't hate Gentile whites; the majority of Jews in the US even married gentile whites.

P1: Jan 6 almost overthrew the government
P2: Very few Jan 6 Protestors had guns during the protest that they did since they thought the election was rigged.
P3: The Jan 6 Protestors believed the government was tyrannical and they almost succeeded in overthrowing them with very few (less than .05% of the US population (Exclusive: Classified Documents Reveal the Number of January 6 Protestors (newsweek.com))) present, with only 12 members having guns according to Newsweek (Fact Check: Were There Armed Protesters at the Capitol on January 6? (newsweek.com)).
P4: Very few guns were had by the protestors when almost overthrowing the government.
C1: You don't need a huge number of guns to overthrow the government if they go tyrannical if 12 guns distributed among 120,000 people almost gets the job done. So I would argue this makes the 2nd amendment's argument that guns are pretty much not needed to defend against a tyranical government not accurate; because our government that the Jan 6 people thought was tyranical almost got overthrown with 12 guns and if they had 0 guns, but 10 million protestors, then they could almost certainly have overthrown the government if they do something that pisses off 10 million people enough to conduct a revolution (so the 3% figure that people claim was enough to start the US revolutionary war in the first place).
So my sole reason for wanting AR 15s to be legal is freedom. Just like I support the freedom to own an autograph; it doesn't make either useful. I would not spend $800 or so on an AR 15; I'm fiscally conservative and I would rather invest the money and conserve my finances.

What is grifting then? I thought it was lying about your beliefs and saying crazy stuff so you would make money from being extreme and radical.
Created:
Posted in:
-->
@WyIted
It's also not grifting to have contradictory beliefs .
You are correct, but should you be allowed to advocate a political opinion you don't actually believe when you say it (however specific you want to be) but are merely trying to act crazy to get people to watch your show for money?
Like should it be legal to advocate for Nazism if you aren't actually a Nazi, but are merely trying to say outrageous things so idiots agree with what you say and so you can make money off of it? I don't think so. The only people that should be allowed to advocate Nazism are actual Nazis.

Do you believe GRIFTING should be legal?
Created:

I would be a free speech absolutist solely for opinions that the speaker actually believes in. If someone grifts and says something that they don't believe in when they say it, then if there is enough evidence, then I support that person being deplatformed.
I would assume there are some people that grift, but it's hard to tell if someone is a grifter.
I would assume if they are doing a multi hour debate about their beliefs, then it's obvious they say what they believe. If the stuff they say is nuanced and not too extreme, then they probably aren't grifting. There are black people that don't like BLM, there are females who hate feminism, there are trans people who agree with Blaire White on trans issues. If you strongly disagree, then that's fine. But not all Blacks, females, and LGBT people agree with the left on their RSG characteristic and this is fine. If they are far right or far left, then it's possible they grift, but it's hard to tell. If they make some obvious contradictions, then it's safe to say they are a grifter. The problem is there exists some overlap and I have a hard time figuring out who is who.
An example of an obvious contradiction wouldn't be someone that is, "Pro life and pro death penalty" or, "Pro choice and pro vacciene mandate" or really any 2 beliefs of any kind. They are inconsistent (and being inconsistent is ok), but they aren't obvious contradictions. Even being pro choice and then pro life 5 years later isn't an obvious contradiction; it just means you changed your mind and this is fine.
An example of an obvious contradiction is saying, "I did this awesome alpha male thing with my buddies at the college I went too" and separately saying, "I never went to college; college is a scam". It's obvious you like college if you did alpha male stuff with your buddies at college.
Also if someone said from 2000 to 2008, "We need to do X" and then in 2016 says not only, "I don't believe in X" but, "I never believed in X", then I think that is grifting worthy of being banned.

Because you didn't WANT to see that part. You are a walking example of confirmation bias.
Do you have the link? I seen the whole video and I didn't catch it.
Because in the normal world, some people are good, some are bad and the rest are undecided.
In a normal world, most people of all races and documentation statuses don't r**e, murder, or similar. Now if they do, then they should face public beheading or the firing squad. But we are a nation of liberty and individual justice for all. People should not be judged by the worst in their group.

And then to clarify his position to make sure nobody villianized all illegal aliens he said some of them were great people.
If Trump said, "They are bringing drugs, crime, they are rapists and most are good people.", then I wouldn't think Trump was racist off this quote. He chose the word, "some".
He is saying that we need to vet immigrants coming into the country because many of the ones coming through illegally could potentially be dangerous criminals.
There are 2 possibilities:
1. A randomly selected undocumented immigrant is a r*pist or similar.
2. A randomly selected undocumented immigrant is NOT a r*pist or similar.
The 1st group should be beheaded, their blood and organs taken from them, and it should go to save the lives of American Patriots. The 2nd group should be left alone if they aren't harming anyone else.
He even called for increases in legal immigration in the same speech but just wanted border security.
I didn't see that part. But recently he has called for just closing the border (which he feels like he can do now since his base wouldn't leave him).
It's a criticism of word choice
When you are a politician, you have to pick your words carefully.
Now I think Biden is probably racist too because he probably believes white people saying the N word is racist and he didn't call out his son who said it, implying that he agrees (and he also said that anyone who votes for Trump isn't black; which there is nothing wrong with a black person voting republican).
But I'm voting 3rd party; both these clowns shouldn't be POTUS.

Exploitation is not slavery.
What's the difference? They are both bad.
Let's imagine a world where children are enslaved and we are okay eating chocolate made by these slaves.Would we then have to also approve of abuse of these slaves?
I would say you have to at least tolerate any necessary abuse done by the slaves; if you can't, then don't buy chocolate; it's not like you need it to survive.
Created:
-->
@zedvictor4
Why does chocolate enslave children?
The labor to produce chocolate enslaves children.
What we have to do, is learn to act upon impulses, in relation to stylised and therefore legal social expectations.
This is the, "pedophilia is ok as long as you don't act on it" argument (an argument I agree with).
Created:

@ADreamOfLiberty
I doubt a significant amount of the production is from slavery.
With this as precedent, if child porn made up some, but not a significant amount of the porn some dude hypothetically watched, then it would be deemed ok if you were being ideologically consistent.
If they could stay with their families without working they would already be doing that.
Or the kids got kidnapped by child traffickers.
Child labor and child porn are two different things with potentially very different psychological and social implications.
How?
so we would have to ban a bunch of products made with child laborNo, we would just ban child labor and products imported from child labor.
How are the bolded words different in this context?

A) Just because something can be produced using slavery, doesn't mean it has to. Neither cotton nor chocolate require slavery or child slavery.
But the way it is currently being obtained is using slavery, so treat it as that.
A.1) This is the vegan fallacy: because some cows are mistreated dairy as a concept is evil
I'm plant based; some up with a better analogy; I don't see cows as my equal and I don't see meat as murder, but I hold myself to a higher standard than others.
Perhaps no child should be in the position where working is the only way to survive BUT that does not mean working is then "slavery". Slavery is when other human beings don't give you a choice.
Are you defending child labor based on you thinking it doesn't count as, "slavery"? All 8 year olds working jobs like adults is child exploitation.
B.1) If children are not actually being enslaved, but sustaining themselves by producing something I pay for; and I stop paying for it... then rather than saving them I'll be condemning them to death.
Or you just make them obsolete and you cause them to go back to their families.
Either child exploitation is okay (so child porn is allowed) or it is not (so we would have to ban a bunch of products made with child labor).

I'll give you one hint, some people don't get laid with or without vasectomy.
The vasectomy is to protect the woman; not so I have an easier time getting sex. I could be 80% less likely to get sex with a vasectomy and I still would want to get one to protect the woman I would be nutting in.

I want a world where undocumented immigrants that didn't get the Fauci potion to be allowed to defend their cannabis fields with fully automatic machine guns and so skinheads can protect their transwomen girlfriends with a small private army in the heart of western civilization.

I am getting a vasectomy before I have sex with someone that can get pregnant (if the woman is infertile, then there is no point), thereby preventing the death of the unborn; 5% of the male population.

How to get a conservative to agree with you on guns:
Don't say:
We need to end mass shootings
Instead say:
Karl Marx was a staunch pro 2A advocate; the 2nd amendment is backed by socialists.
With companies having vaccine mandates:
Don't say:
We need to let companies have vaccine mandates to protect their workers from COVID
Instead say:
The private sector having company policies that they agree with is free market capitalism.
With any social issue where the left agrees with libertarianism (immigration, Qualified immunity, War on Drugs), you can reference small government and individual liberty. For abortion, you can add:
I don't want my tax dollars going to feed other people's kids in foster care. That's SOCIALIST!
With any economic issue where the left disagrees with libertarianism, don't say:
We need to tax the rich to help fund the (insert social program here) of poor people
Instead say:
We need to tax the globalists and use the money to fund the (insert social program here) of American Patriots!
The correct framing can make left wing ideas sound like the MAGA crowd would agree to them.
At this point, I would say someone can probably agree with the democrats more than the republicans because they don't agree with communists like Marx on guns, they believe the free market can decide to mandate COVID boosters as a result of free market capitalism, they don't want to fund other people's kids in foster care so they prefer abortion, they like small government on weed, Qualified immunity, and immigration (at least wrt deportations), and they believe the globalists should be taxed more to fund the healthcare of American Patriots (they define an American Patriot as anyone who lives in America by choice, which would include undocumented immigrants since they chose to live in America).
If anyone is in the Bernie Sanders campaign, then they need to tell him to change his framing on issues to appeal to MAGA people.
I'm going to try and not to respond to any posts because I've learned that people here are almost certainly not willing to change their minds, so there is no point in talking to them about policy differences.

If you haven't noticed we see less frogs and bees than we did as children. It's because the atmosphere while unnoticeable to us has made it harder for them to survive.
I thought though bees endured very harsh weather; I would assume that animals that spend their lives outdoors are going to be more temperature resilient than humans that spend our time in HVAC'ed buildings.
These holes in the Ozone actually make temperature swings more pronounced even if the temperature stayed the same.
I thought the Ozone issue was fixed a while back under Clinton.

Charity is tax deductible, so taxes wouldn't affect how much they could donate.
If they owe $30K in taxes and they donate $5K, then it wouldn't be enough to lower their taxes to $25K. Maybe $28.5K though. They still pay more money overall.

Edit: RM is more correct. She could argue (in a completely fictional world where she actually requested welfare, and where she wasn't still owed a ton) that if the government didn't steal all the time she would have been able to find a good job and wouldn't be homeless.
How would taxation make it harder for someone who already has a job to find another job?

It's not hypocritical to say 'I want this but society as it is makes this optimal instead'.
It's one thing to make concessions. An example would be if you want to ban abortion but are okay with it being legal up until 12 weeks. This isn't hypocrisy; it's a compromise. It would be hypocritical though if you believe abortion should be banned while you get or pay for an abortion.
Wanting some welfare because it's pragmatic when you would prefer to ban welfare isn't hypocritical. But wanting welfare banned while you are on it is hypocritical even if you are willing to compromise with a less anti welfare policy.

I may be left wing but this is as ridiculous a take as saying a socialist in a very capitalist right wing society is a hypocrite for making money to survive in it.
It depends on how one defines socialism. If they define it as, "Everyone should have the same income", and they see the US GDP per capita is $70K/year and they earn $140K/year, then they would have to donate half their income to level it out.
If it's defined as a pro UHC stance paid for by people significently richer than they are, then it's not hypocritical anymore than someone drinking beer at 26 advocating for banning alcohoul for those under 21.
